Just to clarify: the second Rolex 16710 in the video was actually a Z Serial instead of a D Serial - you can see it on the papers.
Both watches look great. It did surprise me to hear ladies DJ models are still above retail
No one would allow a red and orange colour combo. It’s a cardinal fashion sin to wear those two colours together

I've always wondered which is more valuable, an unpolished piece with just a paper or a mint albeit polished piece with all the accessories, papers, service cards etc
That's a great question. Personally speaking, I'd go for the unpolished piece, but I think most people would opt for the full-set, including most sellers.

I just don't see Rolex ever losing the Pepsi color combo. Feels like that will be with us for as long as Rolex is. I also don't see them creating that Fanta color combo exactly for the reason you point out Austin. Which color is the darker of those two? (Also and this is just IMO, those colors clash like crazy.) I see the BLNR going away one day, and same with the VTNR. Let's see what happens!
16710 really is the perfect Rolex. Just enough vintage goodness and just enough modern necessities like SELs.

Love both watched Chris, especially that GMT Master II. I also like the 116710LN, but the 5-digit is really timeless. Nicely video Austin!!
I'd leave the GMT as it is and not change bracelet or bezel. It is excellent as it it.
Brown dials are amongst my favourite. Both great choices.

Would love a right hand drive Sprite but the Fanta is an interesting idea. Perfect combo for the couple.
You can put metal back, dings can be laserwelded at RSC.
I know you can have third parties do it, but I haven't heard of RSC taking up the practice. I'll have to look into that!
@@watchsymposiumhi Austin, I was just at RSC in the US and they will not laser weld metal back on. FYI.
@amickinflorida9008 Thanks for letting us know about the US. I'm almost certain that RSCs won't laser weld, unless there's been a recent change in policy.

Nice video as always. Btw I believe the colour position of the GMT bezels is that darker always goes on top as those correspond to night hours.

Some places charge a 5% fee for credit card transactions, so cash makes for a cheaper price. So, there's a lot of cold hard cash coming and going through these watch shops!

A ladies Datejust doesn’t sell above retail. You can get any of those pieces at a discount brand new at the AD, so I’m not exactly sure what happened here. But anyway, she was happy and it was a very nice looking piece that she’ll enjoy for many years.

I the Rolex Fanta would be a big hit.
Red-orange GMT looks fun but very illogical. Something like orange-blue or orange-violet is much more likely and will be a bit toned down but still very vibrant
It's such a departure from the traditional colors that it makes me wonder if Rolex will ever do it. But it would be so cool to see!

Will RSC replace the bracelet on a pre ceramic if you ask? It will be period correct?
It's expensive, but they'll replace a bracelet with a period correct one. But the clasp code will indicate that it isn't the bracelet the watch was born with.

They actually can add metal back.. it’s called laser welding, quite amazing what damage they can correct these days!
Being a purist, I'm not sure how I feel about third party laser welding. But some viewers have done it, and I've seen some incredible results.

Did you say that ladies watch is 28mm? It looks like at least a 31, or her wrist is tiny.
I'm pretty sure it's a 28mm 279171. But she did have petit wrists, hence her interest in the smaller sizes.

How do you get the other bezels from RSC? Can you order them or get during a service?
RSCs in different countries have different rules, but here in Japan you take in your 16710 and they'll change it out.

Be serious. That red and orange bezel is hot garbage. Rolex knows better than that. The Coke makes sense, discontinuing the Pepsi does not. They should disco the Batman so mine can increase in value.
Pretty sure that lady datejust is easy to get at an AD and will build up spend history to get get a GMT. Patience.
Nothing is "easy" to get at an AD. Especially not here in Japan, where display cases are bare.
And finding the exact configuration she was looking for would been even more difficult.

You still can't buy anything from ADs here, much less get the exact configuration she was looking for, and getting that exact one - brand new - was the goal.
