It's expensive, but they'll replace a bracelet with a period correct one. But the clasp code will indicate that it isn't the bracelet the watch was born with.
I've always wondered which is more valuable, an unpolished piece with just a paper or a mint albeit polished piece with all the accessories, papers, service cards etc
That's a great question. Personally speaking, I'd go for the unpolished piece, but I think most people would opt for the full-set, including most sellers.
@amickinflorida9008 Thanks for letting us know about the US. I'm almost certain that RSCs won't laser weld, unless there's been a recent change in policy.
I’m still waiting for a fuchsia and blue bezel “pink panther” homage to the gmt master history. Put a glidelock on it and that would be a watch to behold
Congrats to the appreciative wife. A lovely choice. I do like the all black GMT's, but... My God, I still wish we could go back in time to reasonable pre-owned pricing. Ouch! :-)
Red-orange GMT looks fun but very illogical. Something like orange-blue or orange-violet is much more likely and will be a bit toned down but still very vibrant
I like it... Orange and Red It reminds me of my country's Tropical Sunsets... Boracay Island, Siargao Island, Camiguin... ... Oh those places dont need filters... I'd call this the Rolex Sunset
@@watchsymposium Oh, you really should.. Sunset surfing at Cloud 9 was so amazing. I was recently there. ... And thank you for this awesome video. I loved it
I just don't see Rolex ever losing the Pepsi color combo. Feels like that will be with us for as long as Rolex is. I also don't see them creating that Fanta color combo exactly for the reason you point out Austin. Which color is the darker of those two? (Also and this is just IMO, those colors clash like crazy.) I see the BLNR going away one day, and same with the VTNR. Let's see what happens!
A ladies Datejust doesn’t sell above retail. You can get any of those pieces at a discount brand new at the AD, so I’m not exactly sure what happened here. But anyway, she was happy and it was a very nice looking piece that she’ll enjoy for many years.
Over retail for a ladies date just!? Ouch! They actually can add metal back.. it’s called laser welding, quite amazing what damage they can correct these days!
Some places charge a 5% fee for credit card transactions, so cash makes for a cheaper price. So, there's a lot of cold hard cash coming and going through these watch shops!
Nothing is "easy" to get at an AD. Especially not here in Japan, where display cases are bare. And finding the exact configuration she was looking for would been even more difficult.
Despite what I said in the video, I can't remember specifically how much above retail it was. I was ballparking it, so I might have overstated it. But whatever it was, they were cool with it. You still can't buy anything from ADs here, much less get the exact configuration she was looking for, and getting that exact one - brand new - was the goal.
Be serious. That red and orange bezel is hot garbage. Rolex knows better than that. The Coke makes sense, discontinuing the Pepsi does not. They should disco the Batman so mine can increase in value.
Just to clarify: the second Rolex 16710 in the video was actually a Z Serial instead of a D Serial - you can see it on the papers.
Both watches look great. It did surprise me to hear ladies DJ models are still above retail
That gmt is a dream watch. Gorgeous neo vintage piece.
Excellent choices
Okay so how much was it?
BOTH WATCHES LOOK GREAT! I especially like hers…CONGRATS!
Congratulations to Chris and his wife-beautiful watches! I do like the 116710ln but I’d wear it on a rubber or sailcloth strap 😎. Nice job Austin 👍
Congrats to the happy couple - looking snazzy!
Great Selection Team!
Bless U Austin for your expertise.
Thank you Jon!
Love both watched Chris, especially that GMT Master II. I also like the 116710LN, but the 5-digit is really timeless. Nicely video Austin!!
Thanks for the episode
did they get a deal buying two watches ?
They bought them at 2 different shops, so I don't think so. But they did get some cool watch swag.
detailed introduction,both looks good
Will RSC replace the bracelet on a pre ceramic if you ask? It will be period correct?
It's expensive, but they'll replace a bracelet with a period correct one. But the clasp code will indicate that it isn't the bracelet the watch was born with.
Nice video as always. Btw I believe the colour position of the GMT bezels is that darker always goes on top as those correspond to night hours.
Congrats on the purchases, can never go wrong with a preceramic gmt.
Legend. Thanks for the video.
What’s RSC?
Rolex Service Center
Rolex Service Centre
Orange on top, red bottom looks incredible.
Is 26mm too hard to find there in Japan?
Even that is impossible to get at an AD.
@@watchsymposium how about grey market in japan?

I will do just that, Austin! D series in the offing...
Awesome watches! Soo the ladies DJ are still above retail?
How do you get the other bezels from RSC? Can you order them or get during a service?
RSCs in different countries have different rules, but here in Japan you take in your 16710 and they'll change it out.
Would love a right hand drive Sprite but the Fanta is an interesting idea. Perfect combo for the couple.
Those watches are perfect - nice !
You can put metal back, dings can be laserwelded at RSC.
I know you can have third parties do it, but I haven't heard of RSC taking up the practice. I'll have to look into that!
@@watchsymposiumhi Austin, I was just at RSC in the US and they will not laser weld metal back on. FYI.
@amickinflorida9008 Thanks for letting us know about the US. I'm almost certain that RSCs won't laser weld, unless there's been a recent change in policy.
Great Choice on both. Cannot got wrong with a 16710. Looks great on the wrist. Prefer the LN bezel as well.
I love your take on a new GMT, I’d get one
Nice purchases!
Excellent!
Looks cool..
Could you please say the watch price for the watch in USD, if it’s not inconvenient for you, thank you!😊
Very good taste by this shopper.
Great choice, congrats.
Hi Austin do you have a email I can send you a picture of a pre ceramic 1675 GMT I found at a store in NYC . Can I get your opinion on .
It's in the description of my videos.
I vote for a black and dark purple version, that would be hot 🔥
I’m still waiting for a fuchsia and blue bezel “pink panther” homage to the gmt master history.
Put a glidelock on it and that would be a watch to behold
Great choices. 😊😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻
Good stuff
I'd leave the GMT as it is and not change bracelet or bezel. It is excellent as it it.
Brown dials are amongst my favourite. Both great choices.
Brown dials are highly underrated
Did you say that ladies watch is 28mm? It looks like at least a 31, or her wrist is tiny.
I'm pretty sure it's a 28mm 279171. But she did have petit wrists, hence her interest in the smaller sizes.
Congrats to the appreciative wife. A lovely choice.
I do like the all black GMT's, but... My God, I still wish we could go back in time to reasonable pre-owned pricing. Ouch! :-)
I remember you coming close to pulling the trigger on that 116710LN in Bangers!
two great looking watches - < AD - include what the US price would be >. - they are so lucky to have you escorts them thru the watch jungle ~ JDS/CT
orange and red?? um, no thank you (gag)
first! lol seriously though, Austin, you ARE going to have your livestream during Rolex's new release unveiling, yes?? YES?!
I wish I could, but it's right in the middle of a work day. But I'm doing my best to get fired. I haven’t been wearing pants for a week straight! :)
@@watchsymposium ha! Well we appreciate your commitment to the channel
16710 really is the perfect Rolex. Just enough vintage goodness and just enough modern necessities like SELs.
if it were me ill prob go for the bluesy. more interesting to look at the time
Red-orange GMT looks fun but very illogical. Something like orange-blue or orange-violet is much more likely and will be a bit toned down but still very vibrant
It's such a departure from the traditional colors that it makes me wonder if Rolex will ever do it. But it would be so cool to see!
I like it... Orange and Red

Not here in Japan. There's still no stock at all here. What country are you talking about?
I am looking for a mid 90's coke jubilee, full set. No/Minimal polish. Please contact.
No one would allow a red and orange colour combo. It’s a cardinal fashion sin to wear those two colours together
A few thousand over MSRP for the ladies piece?
I can't remember specifically how much above retail it was. I was ballparking it, so I might have overstated it.

Being a purist, I'm not sure how I feel about third party laser welding. But some viewers have done it, and I've seen some incredible results.
@@watchsymposium rolliworks (in florida) are renowned for their laser welding
Can I “donate” to you for a video and have you hunt down my watch for me? Is that how this works?
I the Rolex Fanta would be a big hit.
Don't they accept credit card payments? Was Chris walking around with a bunch of cash in his pocket?

I think orange and red is to strong! To bright!
Its not the fanta...Its the Froot Loop
Either is better than more superhero nicknaming cringe.
Pretty sure that lady datejust is easy to get at an AD and will build up spend history to get get a GMT. Patience.

nobody will expact it-more reason to do that!
2k over msrp for a 28 mm ladies watch? That’s very high in this market.

Can we have an Iron Man - a two tone red bezel sub? The Deepsea version would be Hulk Buster.
