- Today I address every issue I had with my E93 M3 convertible including reliability, common problems to look out for, V8 mechanical issues, and more. This video can apply to e90 and e92 3 series BMWs as well. Overall I had a good ownership experience so far and I believe as long as you maintain these cars and stay proactive with repairs, you will have a fun time. Thanks for watching, please check out my many videos on this car from repairs and modifications along with our instagram content representing our fellow e93 convertibles. Links down below.

Thanks for the video. Honestly with all your videos that I watched, I pulled the trigger on a E93 M3. You gave me the confidence brother. Appreciate it !
So happy to hear that. Glad to be of help. Enjoy!
Yep, same here, love these videos from Sal and Ellie and am now a happy E93 owner too. Also, I know you guys drive that car like it’s meant to be driven with 120k miles on it so that’s a testament to this platform.
@@collinsacks Thanks so much for following our build! The e93 M3 is definitely an amazing car for the money.
I own a 2011 e93 m3, love the mod and maintenance videos (they keep giving me ideas for the build!)
So happy to hear. Thanks for the comment! Gives me the motivation to keep making videos.
Amazing video, hubby! ❤❤🎉🎉 love how our car transformed throughout the past 2 years.
Thanks wifey! Love you lots.
@@Sals_Garage Ahhhhhhh, you guys are so great!
Im checking an M3 convertible E93 tomorrow.. Excited as a weekend drive!
Good luck! Enjoy 😊
That was very interesting for someone who picks up their 2012 E93 tomorrow. I am looking forward to it and will no doubt watch some of your other videos on the things to do with the car.
Thank you for the comment and congrats on your new ride! Enjoy 😊
Looking good! I just got a e93 with 66,000 miles. Great information! Thanks!
Nice! Thanks so much for the comment!
Great video. Yes the rod bearings is what scares most. If you can find one with that already done. I can see purchasing.
Great tip! I would definitely buy one with receipt for proof it was done.
Man am I glad to have found your channel! I'm considering buying very close to the exact same car, white on red, DCT. Currently has 121K very well dealer maintained (regular oil, other fluids, brakes etc.) two-owner E93. Need to get/find out about complete records obviously, mainly re: rod bearings, throttle actuators being done as that'll make a huge difference in what I'll consider a fair deal-making price. It's with a very respected enthusiast dealer I know well and trust, and their asking $ is very decent. I've always wanted one, and the crazy covid stimmy inflated pricing is coming back down to earth-think maybe it's time to pull the trigger. I don't wrench-at all-but I always own at least one older German car (currently have a W201 Merc, a '90 190E) and have a great indie mechanic. That said, he ain't free lol so if I get into a bunch of issues it'll get expensive and one thing about a high mileage performance/specialty car $ put into it is usually $ you'll never get back at resale so most people recommend a higher priced lower-mile example but as you've shown if these are well maintained there's no reason not to expect 150K+ easily. Thanks for all the 411, giving me some peace of mind, and If I get it, your channel will be def be a great resource. Cheers man!
Glad to help! Hoping your experience is a good one. Have fun and enjoy!
Dont buy a shitty automatic. What a boring waste.
My man. Very informative. I won't be trying to work on my own, but I'll know what to ask about at some point.
Thanks for the comment! Happy to help 😊
Good info and tips. You should post the year of this car and mileage, just for context.
Good suggestion. 2009 with 120k miles. Thanks 🙏
Thanks for the informative video. 👍
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
The m3 came along way and it looks great.
Thank you! We like to try new things on our M3,but ultimately ended up modifying it like most other M3s 😆
@@Sals_Garage still the best e93 imo.
@@im_so_es_ef_wit_it thank you so much for that! 🙏
Rear passenger must have regularly thrown quite a bit of knee-kicks toward the driver in the car.😅
😆 it’s pretty tight back there for taller people
Always awesome content! Keep up the good work…🇵🇭👍🏼
Thank you bro! We appreciate ya
Thanks for the invaluable knowledge you’ve generously shared. Does most of the maintenance diy stuff apply to an E92 M3 aswell?
Yes it does. Thanks for the comment 🙏
For the trim how did you do it n what material you use cuz I don’t like the chrome on mine
We used plastidip: amzn.to/3XLQ5m5
thanks very helpful going to look at e93 tks again
E93 is definitely worth it!
Did you purchase / upgrade the brembo brake calipers and rotors? How much did you pay? I'm thinking about going with Brembro
I used these Brembo calipers: ruclips.net/video/yrINrRT1iX0/видео.html
Dang these German cards look like a lot of work and so expensive, my takeaway is to stick with my skate board
Hahah yea for those who aren’t interested in fixing the car themselves it can get to be an expensive headache. That’s where your Kia is amazing value with the 10 year warranty. Skateboard is also an excellent option too 😆
@@Sals_Garage on second thought, that oil for skate board wheels can get expensive. I'm sticking with reeboks 🙃
Hahah Reebok Pumps ftw
@@Sals_Garagelamborfeetis 😂
please make a video how to top up hydraulic fluid 🙏🙏🙏
Will do. Thanks for watching.
Where did you get the replacement convertible top cables from? Fellow e93 m3 owner here.. imagine I need to check mine
Sure thing! Here you go: amzn.to/3YrPId6
How much in maintenance did u have in first year
Around 3.5k in the first year, mostly on big ticket items like rod bearings.
I have an E90 steptronic 325i with high miles and its not cheap to maintain, i can only wonder what an E9x M3 is like to own😢
It’s definitely expensive but worth it
I have a 2013 with 63500 miles, owned for 3 years/20k miles. Only had to replace oil, tyres and battery. Very surprised. Not done rod bearings/actuators.
Thanks for sharing! That is awesome
@@Sals_Garage I should have added thanks for sharing your experience too. I enjoyed the video
Great on not having to replace the Rod Bearings. Just get an oil analysis. Honestly you should be very good to go with that mileage and the proper warming up of the oil. Cheers and enjoy.
@Bernard Barbour I thought after a certain age they changed them so you couldn't get results from an oil analysis. Something along those lines. Thanks!
@@ksm1985 2011 and above is not copper anymore so different material that doesn’t show up in analysis.
I really want one. How reliable is this thing? Rob bearing issues?
Great so far, go for it!
What kind of rear wing is that? it looks nice. Where can I get one?
amzn.to/3rGLvYX
Nice video. Thanks!
Anytime! Thanks for the comment 🙏
Where can I get the tyres monitoring system from
Here you go: amzn.to/3ITGdhg
String? Isn't it a wire cable?
Also, did you do the video on lubing the fan bearings? Mine sometimes suffers from that squeak at the slowest speed!
It was a more fragile string material before they changed it to a sturdier wire cable on later models.
@@Sals_Garage Yikes! Good to know, thanks 🙂
@@Sals_Garage Oh, and did you do a video on fixing the heating fan squeak? I had a look around your channel, but couldn't see it.
@@Assimilator1 I think you found it.
@@Sals_Garage Yep, thanks 🙂
So in other words you've done 20k worth of work yourself for under 3k witch 99% of normal people can't do..
I made plenty of DIY videos to help others as well. It’s really up to the owner if the feel comfortable doing it. This video was just sharing my experience and issues I dealt with.
@@Sals_Garage
No it's helpful for sure! Just jelly as I want to pick up one up but I live in ATL and have no space to diy:(
@@kevinc4325 I understand the struggle too, can’t wait to get a bigger place with a garage to work on cars.
Two weeks ago I took couple more of parts-rear diffuser n front lips to get installed, Blud was charging me $400. I got mad went home and did it myself
Car looks great!
Thanks man!
Where did you get that spoiler??

Great video
Thanks so much!
I need to know about CATASTROPHIC reliability issues. When I hear those words, "reliability issues," I think of more catastrophic stuff, like "I needed a new transmission after ______" or "When the engine ______, it was really expensive."
Thank you so much for posting this video
Stay tuned I’ll make another video about catastrophic issues
@@Sals_Garageyou might not need too. I just reached the part of the video where you said the magic word, "catastrophic".
This video was SUPER informative my guy!
Let me ask you this though. What made you go for the M3 over the C63 AMG?
the exotic sound of the engine along with its high revving nature. I wanted a car that sounds like a ferrari, not like an american V8 muscle car. @@iraqifoodcart8447
@@Sals_Garage That's a really fair answer.
@@iraqifoodcart8447 thanks!
We’re did you get your rods done & how much ?
SV Bimmer I paid $1600 3 years ago before pandemic pricing.
@@Sals_Garageso now it's a $7,000.
Nice.....
I'm kidding, but yeah... I keep going back and forth on the E93 M3 and the C63 AMG.
From what I've been seeing, I could get one of those, or, for a similar price, I could get a Lexus ISF or a 2nd gen CTS-V
The options are plentiful, and even on the used market they're all similarly priced
None of those are as fun to drive as an e9x M3 with the 8600 rpm redline and exotic engine noise. @@iraqifoodcart8447
What’s a decent price/mile range to look for with one of these. I’m looking to finally get a coupe after having a camry for so many years. It looks like getting a v8 muscle car would be a cheaper option. But there’s something special about having a german car.
Where did you get the android screen from?

Nice car, but it's hard to take you seriously when you bought the HEAVIEST version of this car and tried to offset it with a ~5 lb savings on the shittier battery. Seriously? Get a lithium ion.
It’s 25lbs lighter and 20% of the price vs antigravity so I’m happy with it. 👍
Really helpful video. Thank you
So glad to be of any help! Take care
@@Sals_Garage if anyone knows the part number at 1:11 ( ie the plastic on the seat fold mechanism- I have the same issue) and can share it that would be appreciated
