Thanks, Dr. B - this is really helpful. Depression hit pretty hard in my first year or two of MS diagnosis, but doc prescribed talk therapy with a counselor, as well as meds. I'm currently on Welbutrin and tolerating it well.
And also: I love happy chickens!

I am very fortunate to not suffer from depression. Sure, I’ll have my moments, but I always know that tomorrow’s going to be better. But you know what really makes me happy? Seeing your chickens! Seeing you out there in front of what looks like a barn, I was so hoping that you would show your chickens. And you did! Thank you thank you thank you!

I was not yet diagnosed with MS. when I took Wellbutrin to quit smoking. I stopped at a bar to visit a friend (the bartender) I had one mix drink & a shot then I was throwing up because you’re not supposed to drink alcohol with Wellbutrin. Never did that again!

Great info Dr B! Thank you! 15 years ago my Dr put me on welbutrin for anxiety. Unfortunately I had a serious reaction and had to discontinue it. For a long time I had big challenges managing it. In 2016 I lost my soul kitty to cancer. She didn't have a peaceful euthanasia. PM spasms. Triggered horrible ptsd. Thought I'd have to be hospitalised. During a bad episode, my amazing (now retired) primary care nurse practitioner called to check on me. My wonderful wife had to speak with her. I wasn't capable of talking. LuAnn told my wife to give me half of one of her Zoloft immediately. I've always been sensitive to pharmaceuticals, so half seemed reasonable. LuAnn called me the next morning. She told me it was ptsd. I've never had a health care practitioner who went so above and beyond for me like that. I'm forever grateful. Thank you for your wonderful videos, insight and information. I've learned so much from you Dr. B. That makes me equipped to live every day the very best I can. I'm grateful for all you do. Much love and peace!

Hi Dr. B, great topic! I found Trintellix to be very good for depression, and it did not give me the sexual side effects I experienced with typical with SSRI meds. It's not quite as good in helping my anxiety as typical SSRI's, but I found doing body scan meditations really helps to manage anxiety. Just my experience, thought I would share. 😊

Hmmmm This makes me think I should have a convo with my neuro! I have been on desvenlafaxine and noticed that I have crazy hunger at night which is ALSO when I take my antidepressant. I have gained probably 15 pounds since the start of taking it! This might be the reason! Thank you sooooooo much!!!

Hey Dr. Boster! MS Neuro said Wellbutrin and Desvenlafaxine is the same thing...UGH! Can you please just have a masters seminar with these MS Neuros? You say so many great things and then us MSers strive to put them into place and we are just undercut by our "specialists"

    Very informative Dr. Boster.
I'm currently on cymbalta and have been for some time now. It does not do anything for fatigue and I have out on some #s since taking it. I've tried modafinil and aderall for the fatigue but that was a bit too strong for me and stopped taking those meds.
I like the idea of welbutrin and I think I'll talk to my neuro about this in an upcoming appt.

Good vid.! I went through some really bad depression early on. Started with Lexapro but then switched to Wellbutrin. Later added Effexor to deal with PBA - and it helps a lot. I do wonder if long-term use has some negatives since I've been on them for over 10 years but I'm still getting benefits from it. If I'm off it for a few days I can feel the depression mounting.
Does your big dog want to chase the chickens?

Dr. Boster has recommended trying nuvigil or provigil in a past video for fatigue.
My dr tried Ritalin for me and it helped tremendously with mind and body alertness. I cried the week I started because it made me feel “normal”. It was overwhelmingly positive.

I'm one of the rare people that Wellbutrin actually worsened my anxiety... I felt like I was in a state of panic, I just wanted to crawl into a secure place and cry... Took Zoloft in the past and it helped for a short time... I've been on Cymbalta (morning) and Elavil (bedtime) for neuropathic pain but lately I have been having some anxiety (mostly)/depression... The combo has worked so well for my pain (other than the weight gain with Elavil) and I kinda have that why mess with a good thing mentality... I see my primary next week, I was thinking maybe a bump up in Cymbalta might do the trick...

Hey doctor b, what’s out there if someone needs to gain weight? I am on very low dose of amitriptyline but found increasing it caused painful neuropathy.
Maybe do a video on the opposite end of the spectrum for the depression treatment medicines? If you have one already, then I am so sorry for not looking before speaking! I do feel like I have seen so many depression vids on your channel, just don’t remember any with specific med option recommendations.
