    Yes fully aware of NGC UK international coin grading and economics and comical. As I sent in an Ibrahim Lincoln copper coin 1943 and also 1933 British copper penneys to NGC international London to be graded . I paid for elite membership of NGC UK for coin grading plus further £100 and they was unable to do the job as they made excuses that it was a pgcs, so I sent them an envelope stamp £10 worth of address envelope to myself with chip also witnessed by the post office and many other people apparently they are unable to grade very expensive rare coins like my coins of Abraham Lincoln made out of copper 1943 D and 1933 copper British pennies .

    Excellent information Numi and some great coins again!!
    I think that a + designation is not so important to collectors, a * designation on the other hand is really desirable. especially if it's a MS65 or higher!!

    4 advantages imo, 1 a pedigree can be attached to a coin physically 2 lost or stolen coins have a chance to be returned 3 there is a crucial independent view on a coin that a dealer may try to hide e.g.coin damage on old coins, quality issues and I include the mints and new proofs in that 4 viewing coin is easy and can be stored safely

    Great video! A couple of questions... How does pricing work? how are coins sent to you? (are they kept in original presentation box or just the capsule?) And lastly is there a size limit to coins? Could you for instance get a 5oz coin graded? Sorry for so many questions! Thank you :)

    I know the NGC and PCGS service, both are excellent for American currencies. Sometimes grid 1 or 2 points up or down. But I confess that foreign currencies are too flawed for authentication. There is a lack of specialized people in this area. I think they should really only classify American currencies. I've seen every encapsulation of Roman coins that make your hair stand on end, there are pieces that you can't tell if they are fake or real due to so much wear. But they simply encapsulate because it is an advantageous market. I am an ANA Member myself, and really in my opinion I don't find it interesting to have a coin sealed in an acrylic box, and I can't touch it and feel the whole story behind the coin in my hands. Coins have always been collected in this way, but suddenly from 3 decades, these firms started to emerge, in fact vision to really profit. I still consider and use the classic way to collect coins.

    Hi Numi,
    What can be better than an unboxing video, especially during the current lockdown! We all love the mega unboxing videos as:
    a) we love coins and b) it's nice to see the variety of coins being graded by collectors.
    Nice to see the £5 coin get a grade higher after NCS conservation 😊
    Also the bridge £1 got the correct description instead of "piedfort" after re-holdering.
    Thanks for your help Numi!

    Your video proves that while the essential idea of grading is sound and good for the hobby, the extras and cores are ridiculous and take much respectability for the market. First and Early issue to me is bullshit as well as these cores.
    You should mention that there is yet another agency to verify the NGC grade is a sound one - CAC sticker.
    I think for now getting slabbed coins from the grading agencies are for those very much into a coin business but for the average collector it is a ton of wasted money unless you truly do have some valuable numismatic coins that you foresee selling or giving to heirs in the future. Then, if you have the money, it would be worth getting a grade.

      Yes there is an element of BS and hypocrisy at play. I have learned not to judge as what is cool and fascinating to some is a diabolical debauched depraved false market for losers to others. I have learned that if markets and demand don’t exist NONE of these products or versions or varieties would exist. People buy black core red core glow in the dark first releases and early release first day and last day... in all seriousness I like the snazzy first releases label in blue - there I said it...

    Correction - MS means mint state coin. This means the coin is in a condition which shows no circulation (that it was never used or at most used once or twice and with great care) but not struck several times and with the finish and detail of a Proof. AU means Almost Uncirculated which are for coins that show light use in circulation. Below AU the coins show significant signs of use with varying levels of wear with G4 being extremely worn.

    • @Numistacker
      @Numistacker  4 года назад

      Yes and no - yes of course you are right but NGC also calls ALL non proof coins MS and forms ONLY have MS or PF to choose from.

    • @chrissahar2014
      @chrissahar2014 4 года назад

      Ah I see your clarification. The forms do this simply to separate "business strikes" from the special proof strike.
      As an aside, one benefit to getting the graded and slabbed coin - proper protection of the coin. Another reason when buying a coin of numismatic value to buy one in such a holder.

    I have about 35 coins set aside to send into the NGC, many of them from my time in China (before anyone comments, yes they are real). I also have a few crossover PCGS coins I want to send through conservation such as a proof V Nick. Then I have a few toned coins set aside to send to PCGS for grading, I am not a fan of sending toned coins to NGC since so many are sent back as questionable color or artificial toning. I rarely run into that with PCGS.

    • @Numistacker
      @Numistacker  4 года назад +1

      I have run into that with PCGS and it ended with PCGS changing their mind but it took 6 months to resolve. Wish you success with your grading.

    I just bought a 2022 1/10 oz kookaburra BU from APMEX. My first gold coin. I'd like to send a few coins to NGC for grading. I don't even know how to start. Do you need to be a member or subscriber to NGC to get a few coins graded.

  • @duffduff4948

    I am very interested in grading coins, in fact it was the graded coins that finally got me involved in the hobby, rightly or wrongly I felt a verifiable graded coin was a slightly lower risk purchase than someone's subjective description/opinion or indeed my own relatively uninformed one. Anyway I am now slowly accumulating a collection of gold and silver coins that appeal to me and tend to focus on current proof coins which are either already graded or I hope to have graded in the future. The whole grading designation thing, slab colours/label types etc is quite involved but your videos and insights are extremely helpful thank you. I wish I knew more about historic coins as they do appeal to me but its such a minefield for the uninitiated :) If you don't mind I may email you regarding grading in the near future.:) take care and stay safe everyone.

    I’ll buy graded coins for the same price as bullion, but I won’t pay the premium for the grade. Just not a numismatist. I can appreciate why people do it, however, and the value it adds.
