I didn’t know how to spell Wednesday until I was an intern at a law firm…. Nobody ever corrected me in all my years of schooling 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

My kids love funny fill ins! My kinder son has learned his parts of speech so quickly just by doing them everyday. That is the first thing they want to do! We usually get one that correlates our unit studies.

My 6th grader struggles with grammar and comprehension questions. We are in NY state so state test are required and need to not unschooling too much with Language Arts. Can you do more videos on your lessons

We use and love sequential spelling. I tested my son just to see where he was and he was spelling at a 6th grade level at the end of third grade. So something is clicking 😂 he also loves making stories and recreating books, which I’m sure helps

I completely agree on so much of this! My spelling never did click.. that said I learned word families and that helped and now as I have learned some of the reasons behind english spelling makes more sense. So we use All About Spelling since it actually teaches the rules for a lot of spelling. I think some kids do need a little extra help there. Sam wanted to learn cursive so we are but before he wanted to I just made sure he could sign his name ;-)

As a spelling whiz and let me tell you. I didn’t learn it. It’s all photographic memory.

I have a dyslexic child and I don't make spelling a priority. We have spell check now days.

I wondering which state you are in. I use to be able to get away with how you're doing school when I was in Az, but now we're in Ny and they now have to test every other year. I very much enjoy what you do as school, I wish it had more secular resources, but I understand.

I was a terrible speller as well & I got held back in 2nd grade before of it! It sucked.
p.s when will you be doing the “teaching to read” resources?

Yes im terrified of homeschooling with no curriculum but also seeing prices of random books and supplies are still more expensive than curriculums. Still thanks for your examples. Do you know any non religious curriculums out there for 2nd graders? Also how do you survive your own self thought i know im not the only one feeling this way. Some days are tough but i still wouldn't trade homeschooling for public school.
