    I just restored a 20 year old Ludwig Steel Accent snare. I used Chrome polish on the rims and got ALL the rust out. I also used Brasso on the body and Tension blocks. Came out LIKE NEW! Great job!

      Awesome! It really is a fickle beast dealing with rust... Sometimes its just superficial and you get lucky- and can buff it off no sweat. Other times, if can eat your metal right up D:

    Awesome job!
    I've restored a few old steel snares myself...both for myself and friends. And I found this metal bath called Metal Rescue which in some cases can save on all the polishing. Not always. But in many cases it just washes away all the gunk and leaves the metal gleaming. An overnight bath and then a quick once over with a metal polish leaves a drum looking like new.

      Thank you for the kind comments! I have heard of the bath-type rust removers, and really want to give them a try. Definitely an idea for a future project!

    Aluminum foil and water.... use that on your hoops. Thank me later. Lol.

      I have used that quite a lot actually, but in this case- the chrome was very rusted and flaking in certain spots, which required some more drastic measures.

    Nice job on the Rocket snare drum. I always wondered what they sound like. Pretty decent sounding. Keep up the videos ever to like them. The band sounds cool and the song is great.
    Does the band Lumi have a CD that they sell?

    How you deal with rust?

    • @NuDrums
      @NuDrums  6 лет назад +1

      Albert davila so, there are a couple different approaches: Mechanical removal, solvent removal or electrolysis removal. It really depends on the condition of what you're trying to derust. On this particular snare, the chrome was rusted on the shell and more so on the hoops. I used a combination of mechanical and solvent, i.e. scrubbing with a rust-removing compound. I used aluminum foil to rub brasso on the shell and the rust came right off. The aluminum foil is softer than the chromium coating, so you don't get scratches. For the hoops, I used a brass bristle brush after a long soak in bleach and dish-soap solution. Thanks for the question and the view! Hope you have a nice day!

      NuDrums thanxs for the reply. I'd try lots of methods but they "drums" never looks quite like yours specially the hoops

      It's worth mentioning that I used a product to polish the chrome called SimiChrome, and it works really well. I review and discuss this product here: ruclips.net/video/_6ZFTeWT9ik/видео.html

    Drum looks pretty close to new. Excellent work on your part. What was that cream polish you were using? And oh, do you prefer the pink synthetic luffa over an organic one? LOL!

    • @NuDrums
      @NuDrums  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks so much! The polish is called Simichrome, and I talk about it in-depth here: ruclips.net/video/_6ZFTeWT9ik/видео.html And yes, although the organic loofa is a good scrub, nothing wins the pageant like a pink, frilly one. :)

      Thanks NuDrums for the quick response, tip on Simichrome and luffa selection. haha

    after all that noisy music, talking etc. why didn't you demo the fixed drum?

    • @NuDrums
      @NuDrums  6 лет назад

      bluesky sorry didn't have the means to do so. I have mics now ofcourse, but at the time I only had the camera mic and no room to set up the kit. The snare on the song is actually that snare drum however!
