Hi Karen. CONGRATULATIONS on your 4 years of sobriety! You are a miracle . Awesome share. I identify with your story apart from the marriage part. Thank you for saying narcissists leave you and that they think they are punishing you. It puts things into perspective. Now is the time to practice self love. No need to stay with an emotionally unavailable man, pathologically jealous person and a man who belittles you. I was almost going to be married to a narcissist. It would have been a facade. I put up with the toxic man for several months . Fortunately I asked him to leave my house. However after some days I asked him back but he refused. I even begged him. This shows that I also need to love myself. I did not feel safe and happy with this guy because he began to demean me and he was chatting with women in his phone. I hope to stay away from toxic people. I empathize with people a lot. Maybe that's why I attracted this kind of people. I must remember I am loved and that I am worthy of love. I am responsible for my happiness and serenity. Congratulations on qualifying as an addiction counsellor. Thank you for having the courage to speak out about depression and sharing your hope and strength. Thank you for reminding me that I have some assets. I am not a bad person. You are wonderful. No words to express my gratitude when you said that about narcissists. So my ex boyfriend thinks he his punishing me. I spend so much time cooking for him until I had no time for meetings. Have you been where she has been? Pray for her, but pls don't tell her what to do! She will figure it out if she hasn't already done so. Depression is painful and you cant try to explain its complex. Alcoholism is a symptom what lies beneath it is a giant!

NARC's with hoovering techniques... And gaslighters....narcs makes you question your existence... Slowly you start sinking into depression.... I honestly understand,
