INGREDIENTS
4 medium Eggs
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Vegetable oil
1 cup Yogurt
1 tablespoon Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon Cardamom powder
2 cups Semolina flour
1 cup Coconut flour
For syrup:
3/4 cup Sugar
1 cup Water
1 tablespoon Rose water
1/2 Lemon juice

I love that this recipe uses simple ingredients that I usually have on hand. Basbousa has now become a regular dessert in our home.
Thank you for this recipe. I've just made it and it was beautiful! I didn't have any coconut flour so I used fine desiccated coconut instead and it still worked.
Yummy. I followed your recipe but didn’t have semolina and coconut flour. I just had coarse semolina and dessicated coconut so substituted and put one cup of self raising flour. Worked well.thank you
My neighbor from Yemen used to send us basbusa and it has been my favorite cake since I was a kid. She shifted her home I didn't get to have it for long. Later after 10 years, tried your recipe. And it was Masha Allah, perfect. ❤

So I just finished making this with a little substitutions of my own. I added some orange zest, and some orange blossom water to batter as well as some coconut sugar. For the syrup I gave it some OJ about 1/2 cup and added remainder with water, along with some coconut sugar and some date syrup. Super duper yummies.

I am eating it now, it's very good moist and fluffy! I didn't have coconut flour on hand so I used wheat flour and coconut flakes in mixture. Next time in shaa Allah I'll use coconut flour! Thanks for recipe it's delicious!

It turned out really yummy. I can't stop eating this cake. However mine turned out little hard what can I do to make it softer like it is on the video. Should I increase yogurt I added 250g of yogurt wch is 1 cup I believe

Thanks for the simple and easy recipe. Made this cake and it turned out amazing. Just had to add 2 rounds of sugar syrup since one time wasn't sweet enough. Everyone enjoyed it 🙂

Yes you can and you can also use plain flour instead. and desiccated is fine to use.

I baked this twice in two days, this time halfing the quantity of coconut flour, because my bater was much thinker, both times!. I had to spread it in the pan! And it didn't brown on top like yours, and wasn't light looking.
I know coconut our can absorb lots of liquids, and it is very popular right now in diets.
I am wondering if there are different kinds of coconut flours. Or if I should just get insweet flaked coconut and blend it to flour consistency.
I say this because I only added one half cup of flour the second time, and it was still very thick batter...(?).

I made this. It was great. All adults enjoyed it but kids in the family did not like it. This is a healthier cake option for grown ups I guess. Some Kids might take time to accept it ;)

Hello lovely cake, what kind of yogurt do you use? Is it the sour yogurt or vanilla yogurt, or Greek yogurt? Also can I substitute coconut flour with regular all purple flour?
I’ve use plain Greek yogurt
