- My buddy @BassQuest taught me a trick that changed the way I fish a Texas Rigged Worm. In this video I show you how to rig a soft plastic worm so you can fish it in a variety of techniques.

I just squeeze on a split shot in place of the second bobber stop. Works great plus you get a little noise when the tungsten hits the lead split shot
That's interesting I like it!
Unless you are fishing a floating soft plastic w a very small hook....your lure does not float up off the bottom....it is a more subtle presentation....but put it in a pool....they don't float.
Always love Mikey Ballz!!
Camera looks really good!! I'd add a 3rd bobber stop to back up the 2nd one, and maybe add a bead behind the weight for a little extra clack. Just my 2 cents. Great tip, especially for us kayak guys!
Camera looks good. That's been one of my little tricks for a while now. I buy the cheaper bobber stops because they are a little smaller that the sixth sense. Also when you slide it wet your line because if you go to fast you can " burn" your line and make it weak.
I have started to go more towards the free rig for similar reasons. It works great and once your used to it you can get an idea on how to make it fish more like a Texas rig where the weight stays tighter, or more like a c rig where the bigger rod bumps make the weight jump and slide away making it more of a c rig. But I still don’t feel like anything can ever completely replace the traditional Texas Rig.
I just like to slide my weight up about 10 inches and do the old toothpick trick to peg my weight in place. Doesn't budge at all, even with a 3/4 oz weight. But that toothpick tip comes out really easy when I wanna change out or adjust the length. I fish shallow lakes covered in thick salad on the bottom. Getting that bait up off the bottom is a must. Bass don't eat salad.
Mikey, you have a great channel. You are always high energy and passionate. You are very conversational and you give great detail on techniques. Thanks for your great efforts.
Started doing something like this a few years ago. I only use a bobber stop behind the weight so once the bait hits the water the lure doesn't drop to the bottom but allows the bait to fall more nautral. The action is awesome with the bait about 1ft from the weight.
I've been doing the same thing
I've fished a split shot for over 50 years. I use a #2 on a 10"worms with 14 -20 lb. Most of the time, it's a 6in straight tail cream worm or lizard.
Learned to fish a Carolina rig in 1967 long before it was written about.
I’ve done this procedure for several years now. You can change your fishing style instantly plus it’s one less rod on your deck. Great info.
Been using a T stop like that for years. OG Texas rig catches em super shallow or balzz deep! 💪🎣
Appreciate the update... depending on the weight, i will add two stoppers between the weight and the hook to keep that slide from happening
Camera looks great… Super clear. I tried this Texas/Carolina trick just this morning and it is bad ass. I did get a little bit of slide so when I switched over to Carolina I tied a knot behind stopper number one “closest to the hook“ after I set it off by 18 inches. Works like a champ
Great camera. I fish from a kayak and have been using this setup with success. Two presentations on a single rod and reel.
Thank you.
Thanks @Mikeybalzz fishing. I’m new to bass fishing and I caught my first bass ever on this rig.
I’m terms of bass fishing tournament tips this is genius, cost = 1 more sinker stop, effectiveness =2 whole setups
Video looks great. We can tell it's an upgrade. Great stuff as always Mike.
great shortcut tip, Mikey! I don’t fish a TR hardly at all, or a CR these days, but this is a nice flexible alternative 👍
Great tip Mikey! For those who don't know Caleb is in the hospital in pretty rough shape. He fell off of a roof last week breaking his arm and leg.
Prayers for Caleb
Great quality and colors from the new camera. Back in the day before bobber stops like these I was putting the line through a clear or red bead twice. On top and bottom. Works great and does not move.
Btw: Get the smooth kind at hobby lobby in craft dept.
Camera looks good but better to test with SS Gal for max clicks. Someone on here tied up that same rig I like it tried it on a day they liked the frog best. Going back to it though. Thanks for posting.
Hmmm, will try but feel like the bobber stop on the hook side will slip instantly with any type of rock/snag. Thanks for the tip
This is Awesome & a Game changer! Why didn't I think of that??? Thanks for posting
I agree 100% about that owner comment, everyone always talks about gamakatsu but ya rarely hear people mention owner... and dont get me wrong I love gamakatsu but I think owner's stuff is right up there with all the best brands and they don't get the recognition they deserve. Im also a big fan of decoy hooks too.
Love the new camera awesome content Mikey!
That's a great tip..I like to peg my bullet weight bout 15 inches from the hook and have trouble with it sliding down..next time out I'll be using bobber stops👍
I cut the nick from the bobber stopper after the palamore knot knowing your going to trim it off with the tag. This saves a bit of leader if your using a leader, when tying the palamore. (That wasn't the case with your setup)
Now this is an awesome trick. Multi purpose rig i love it. Never would have thought about it... Thanks.
I subbed as soon as you said good price point. I dont think alot of guys talk enough about how its ok to save money plus it was a great vid
Man I'm always trying to sneak my way around a dollar some things you just to deal with it and pay the premium but there's a lot of workarounds to save some loot when it comes to fishing
@@mikeybalzz youre not alone😂
Also use the bobber stops on my Texas rig, works for me. Greatings from South Africa.
Looks similar a split shot/mojo rig. I prefer to use a peg-it instead of 2 bobber stops that setup.
Rob Crane showed me how to do this. I've been Carolina rigging since 95/96, but last year
this trick made it so easy
Great idea
Thank you
Enjoying the show!!
Thanks for sharing this great tip Miky!! Greetings from the Netherlands, Pat. 👊🏼👍🏼🇳🇱🎣
Yeap this is great addition for Texas rig, I have been using second bobber stop exactly like this for few years now. I always thought of it as adjustable finness carolina . I only rig my texas baits up this way because it's so universal & always have one tied up on the yak!
Great video, I learned a lot.
The camera did a excellent job & the resolution is awesome. Thanks M.B.
Yep, been doing this from time to time, the last couple years. Being a kayak angler, I don't want to have to bring a rod for every rig type, so this is the compromise, and it's effective.
Great technique!🔥🔥🔥👊🏾 Niiiiice camera bro.!
Mike B love the idea man. Going to use to stick some pigs
Excellent content as usual Mikey!! 👌 Camera is spot on as well! Tight lines my friend!!
Wow. Neat trick. Definitely would consider doing this and trying a C rig for the first time. I love the Texas rig so much that I never want to try anything else but this is so convenient.
Thanks. Back in the day we used a toothpick jammed in there to peg the bullet sinker. Maybe that damaged the line a smidge though.
That's a kick ass idea. Love it !
Instead of the bobber stop you can go with a weight peg and not have the issue of it sliding down the line on you. Then if you want to go back to the normal T-rig just pull the peg. They have soft pegs on tackle warehouse and the other big one I believe it tackle USA or something like that.
Here is also a plus to this rig. There a chance if you get hung up that if you break off you could maybe get your weight back. Just lose the hook. Mostly it will break off at the knot. The stopper could keep the weight from falling off.
I too like some of the owner hooks. You are right, they don't get the love they should
i think we all got some kind of carolina/texas rig setup few bobber stoppers. i see where this video is going. 🤙
Great idea it’s more like a finesse Carolina rig ! Camera is great much clearer 👍
I've been using round toothpicks as stoppers . Push it in from the pointy end of the weight until snug and snap it off flush. To remove the toothpick piece , use a new toothpick and push it out from the big end of the weight.
Use a glass beadi instead of the second bobber stopper. Peg it with jig rubber and then you get the rattling for either Texas or Carolina rig presentations.
Camera looks great. The context is awesome as always.
throw a second bobber stopper on the hook side to help with the weight slipping
New camera looks AWESOME!!!🔥🔥
Great tip thanks for sharing! And the camera is awesome! Super good quality!
Thank you for sharing, I will have to try it!
I’ve been doing that for years but like a lot of people has commented, the best thing to use the top would be up split shot then a little bead bead for the click noise and put your split shot about 14 inches up and it works great and you don’t need no reflection and I fish Rocky bottoms in a dont get hung up and if it does you’re talking about a hook in a split shot some people get mad when I don’t come up with the simplest ideas good thinking Mikey
Yep, thought of this a few years ago. “Poor Man’s Carolina Rig”. Was so obvious and easy to do.
Poor man’s Carolina rig I like that
Awesome Star keep it up I love it thank you.
Great tip, I think I will start rigging one of my Texas rigs that way. I usually have 2 riggedup.
That lake i went have so much rocks underwater in deeper.Great tips and gonna use gary yamamoto stickbait with that.
Two bobber stops between weight and hook might stop a 1/2oz weight from sliding ... ya think?
From Texas to splitshot to Carolina rig ... sweet!
Btw, bobber stops are reusable; there's a handy trick.
Awesome tip brother and the camera is killing it!!!
just tried this tonight and caught some fish using a senko ! right on for sharing
DUDE!!!!!! Genius!!!! Sorry my 3rd comment here but I just got the genius gist of the quickee CARolina!!!!! Yeah !!!
There’s also a product called “The Carolina Keeper” you can slide on and it holds its place better than bobber stops.
Great tip man
Thanks Mikey!!! Like the camera!
I put 2 bobber stoppers on each side it prevents the sliding.
if u tie 1 overhand knot in the line the bobber stop wont slide up / down(toward ur reel) as u cast im doing a test doesn't seem to weaken the line
I pull out the Carolina rig with a TRD Z-Men and have fun with 12 lbs monofilament line. Because is cheep for me and 5 other family members. Is about 40 rods for everyone I got 15 rods my self. Summer the medium heavy power fast Action rods come out for the grass is a rod killer.
Good idea but they make clear Carolina keepers for Carolina rigs. You can do the same thing. You should check them out.
I'm with you Mikey, hate the ball and chain. But I started throwing it to up my game. Guess what Bigs eat it! Now I don't hate it as much! Great tip kind of like the Petey Rig.
Outstanding tip!
Nice, thanks for sharing!
Camera footage looking good bro. Thanks for the tip!
Great tip, Mikey!!!! Love the new camera look! That wouldn’t be the new DJI Action 2 camera, isn’t it??
That was simple and amazing
Right on, I been doin this sense I discovered the bobber stops a few years back, first video or even hearing anyone mention it...
That bobber stopper under the weight will also be a help to protect your knot
This is why I use the rubber pin stoppers... Easy to move up or down with just one rubber pin.
I used to do this. Need to get back to it. Thanks bro!
Your old Go Pro footage was much better. Not sure what camera you're using but, I got a good guess. The camera is good just you just need to fine tune. Not as sharp and you look really blown out. Get an a filter for it. Audio is good and as always your content is great. Thanks for the videos keep up the great work.
BTW DUDE I’m red label 15lb 7’2” KVD rod SLX DC 90% of my fishing I love it
Great variation of a Texas rig.
Great tip thanks man
I've yet to catch a fish on a Carolina Rig in our weed choked natural lakes up here in Michigan. A regular Texas Rig or ballhead jig and worm always works better for me.
Great video. I will try it.
I've been doing this for a while.... for the same reason!
Very useful and practical tip.
Definitely going to give it a try! Thanks!
Cam looks killer 👍
Palomar knot on fluorocarbon?? thought that was a no no? a peg-it in the sinker allows you to adjust it also and hold weight in place firmly without moving wet it and it slides easily?
I’m upset I never really thought of putting the second bobber stopper on! Great tip I’m going to try this tomorrow morning
Freaking genius thanks bro..
Great tip!
This is amazing!
Great video again Mickey. I have those bobber-stoppers and will start using that technique. Watching your videos really pays off for me. By the way, was you northbound on U.S. 27 in Sebring Wed. 7/13/22?
I was southbound and told my wife I thought it was you. The truck and Z20Nitro looked like yours.
nope i'm still in bama, headed that way in a bit though.
Great tip. Keep up the good videos.
Good picture I think the camera was good investment I noticed the picture before you even spoke
Great video man! Helpful tip.
Great info, liked and subscribed
Thanks bud
"Brilliant" thank you!!!!!!!!
