The original and best, nobody but nobody could hold a candle to Joey. He blazed a trail across the annals of road racing and he did so with style, humility and dignity. God rest his gentle soul.
I have said it before and I say it again Joey is simply the best both as a rider and as a human being !! Will we ever see another I think not !! when you look at todays so called proffesionals and their madona attitude bikes not too bad F1 is terrible !! How he will and is being missed by us all !! when watching Joey its like watching a good film you can watch it over and over again I have seen this Vid many times but no matter thanks for uploading it this should be shown as many times as possible for mere mortals like us to see what a true sports man/woman should be like It also shows that the machine is not everything neither is age When you are this good nothing matters !!!! I make no appologies for ratteling on as this man deserves all the attentionand praise that can be thrust upon him He gave so much without taking anything Thank you Mr Dunlop for all those years of pleasure you gave to both bikers and the general public that you gave your time and energy to this includes those you helped on other continents For those that don't get what I am saying just look at what Joey did for others in his little van and then you will see where I am comming from !!!!! God bless you joey and your family where the loss is at its greatest !!
Joey Dunlop was a humble superstar. For all his success he was totally grounded, because it was never about money. Joey just loved to race. You mentioned his good work in the wee van. He went every year with a van full of aid to the Romanian orphanages. He never even sought to make his charity work public. One helper at an orphanage said that her memory of Joey was eating corned beef and beans with the orphans. It's just a pity some of today's overpaid prima Donnas weren't more like Joey. But they never will be because there will ever only be one Joey Dunlop.
@@WHU63 That’s such a wonderful thing. I read once that he fixed a plank across the rear of his van so when he needed a sleep on those long, solo trips to Eastern Europe after the iron curtain fell, he’d pull over and sleep across the van on this board, with just a blanket. So humble. I know he revered the crown & treasured his two awards. The only thing I differed on with him, I don’t respect the crown.
Grew up in Armoy in the 70’s lying in bed up in the Fairhill you could hear the boys on the roads testing the bikes on long late Friday summer nights getting ready for the Saturday racing the noise of the old two strokes was unforgettable. When i hear them in the classic races the smell and the noise brings me back to my childhood lying along the hedges at the NW200 or Dundrod with Dad and my brother with his fingers in his ears. Joey Frank and Mervyn thanks for the memories RIP.
some racket out of the old 2 stroke machines, the Armoy race of legends and the classic bike festival at Bishopscourt are the only place to hear them now!
