"knew him well enough not to mourn his passing". Sounds like Armand is glad Lestat is dead, but what he actually means is there's no way in Hell Lestat is dead.
Anne Rice wrote the screenplay. When she found out Tom Cruise was going to be her precious Lestat she was very worried, but when she saw the movie she wept in joy. She was emotional in the best way. Louis was based on herself, introverted, depressive. Lestat was based on her husband Stan (Lestat was originally meant to be called Lestan but an error in writing wrote Lestat and she stayed with it) and Claudia was their daughter, who very sadly died when she was 5 years old. The book and movie are a masterpiece, and watching this a child captivated me and inspired me to write fiction myself.
Lestat's nick name by other vampires in the book series is "The Brat Prince". He has literally laughed in the face of the devil and god and broken every rule he came across all while doing it just to see what would happen. He frustrates all the elder vampires yet none of them can bring themselves to destroy him. He dares to rise from the grave, publish his own life story and become a vampire rockstar on MTV after the events of this movie/book. Tom played him perfectly.
It is supposed to be humorous, but also jarring. The disregard for life that Lestat has, that he can dance with a corpse, and chastise for killing in one's home. It's humorous and dark. A dark humor as one might say.
Yes very dark humor, but first before the humor it is dark. The scene with the prostitute and the coffin is still chilling to me amazing acting even having watched it over 12 times. Claudia here was Kirstens best role to date amazing work "I'll get rid of the bodies" said with a cute smile.
There's a campness to it. The undermining of bourgeois morality by juxtaposing that moral position, keeping the home clean, with extreme violence. This could be shown in a double feature with Serial Mom very well.
I don’t understand why they thought it wasn’t supposed to be humorous? I’ve never heard/seen anyone be confused by that. They need to stop overthinking and analyzing, and just watch and enjoy.
The writer of the original books first hated him being cast for Lastat, she really could not see him in the role. She took it all back and sang his praises after seeing his performance in the movie - no greater praise can be given.
not sure if anyone mentioned it but claudia’s character is so much more heartbreaking when you know the context of anne rice writing this book after the passing of her 5 year old daughter- writing an immortal little girl, that grows and gets “older” while remaining a child, only to tragically die at the end.
this always repulses me considering she wrote Claudia as hyper-sexual and craved the attention of adult males while also claiming this was based on her own child, I could never imagine my child in those situations with a good conscience. not to mention she wrote an entire series about assaulting children in a BDSM setting, so it makes you wonder whether her own daughter was safe with her or not.
@@mels607 Claudia's sexuality did not emerge until after she was an 'adult' in years... just her body didn't change ... all of the people in the Sleeping Beauty series are also adults in years... not sure why you wonder if her daughter was safe with her... children mature and sex is a natural part of life... 🤔
@mels607 what a person writes and reads are rarely a reflection of their actual morals. Stories are where we can safely push the boundaries we morally shouldnt in real life. Personally i never saw Claudias 'hypersexuality' as literal. I always saw it as clear metaphor for her desperately wanting something she can never have. Something thats not inherently bad but people will always be disturbed to see her want just because of the state of her body. I think its SUPPOSED to be disturbing.
I think it's interesting that Anne Rice originally hated Tom Cruise being cast as Lestat. When she saw the performance, she admitted she was wrong and that he was Lestat.
If I remember correctly, she ended up buying a full page ad in Daily Variety to take back her criticism and praise Tom Cruise. I always thought that was awesome of her, and I'm sure it meant a lot to the actors.
I love men who aren't afraid to admit how attractive other men are. It really sets a standard for reaction channels in general and is just one of the many reasons I love your channel so much.
Christian Slater’s character was supposed to be played by River Phoenix, he was already cast but then he died just before filming 💔 Christian Slater donated his entire $250,000 salary to two of Phoenix's favorite charitable organizations: Earth Save and Earth Trust. There’s a dedication to River Phoenix in the end credits
@@wittleMermaid13 No. He met Akasha long before he met Louis, back when he was spending time with Marius. Marius was the guardian of Akasha and Enkil's sanctuary. Lestat plays his violin for Akasha, and she wakes from stone for a moment and gives Lestat some of her blood. She wakes wholly and kills Enkil when she hears the new wave rocker Lestat.
You should add the Interview with the Vampire TV series to your list. It's amazing and has more depth since they split the first book into 2 seasons. The acting and storyline are amazing!
You guys have to watch the AMC series of Interview With The Vampire, it's one of the best things on TV right now, it's very well written and the acting is phenomenal. You won't regret watching it!
I can’t watch it because it completely disregards the original time period. Louis and Lestat are from the late 18th Century… Not the early 20th. Also, Louis was a slave owner in French Louisiana. There are high chances he was white, not black or mixed.
@@jawo8754 it's just an interpretation of Anne's work. They're not trying to disregard the other works. You could say that for the 1994 movie, Armand was not Spanish. Lestat didn't have an American accent. Louis didn't lose his wife and daughter, he lost his brother. The point is, each time her stories are made into adaptations, there are changes made. In the AMC show, Lestat is still from the 18th century. Louis might not be a white slave owner but he is the decendant of a white slave owner. The tv show still tells a fantastic adaptation and does it in its own way.
@@jawo8754 @alextheHistorian said it well. it's more of a fresh interpretation than a replacement or rewrite. I'd recommend checking it out before writing off completely. it recontextualizes the story very effectively. and Sam Reid's performance of Lestat alone makes it well worth the watch and I personally feel like Show-Claudia is even an improvement.
Amen. Even though I'm glad people are discovering this gem of a film now, it's really unfortunate that they won't truly grasp how original this was in movies at the time. Before Interview with the Vampire, vampires were always portrayed as monsters in film. This was first time a vampire was portrayed as the protagonist. For the first time, vampires are portrayed as a type of people and/or sympathetic characters.
It's one of those rare movies where just about every scene is perfect and you wouldn't change a thing. I've seen it more times than I can count and it blows me away every time.
I absolutely love this movie. My dad, who has read the books, absolutely hates this movie. He can't stand anything about this movie and that makes me sad because it's one of my favorites. 😂😅
@@whitediggity he's a horribly toxic monster who displays psychopathic *and* sociopathic tendencies. He's also fairly narcissistic. Dudes a literal bag of dicks, and the bag is made of sewn together red flags. I guess that makes sense, though. Anne Rice is an interesting person.
Lol I've seen Interview with The Vampire reactions flooding youtube the past couple months due to the 2nd season of the TV show airing (it's absolutely amazing, one of the best shows I've seen in a long time). Love that they're jumping on the bandwagon!!
I can’t get over the new dude’s forehead. You could land a plane on that thing. Modern casting directors seem to have a lot of trouble finding hot men. 🙄
If you'd read the books you'd know that Tom Cruise played Lestat perfectly! I'm talking chefs kiss! He's over the top in the books and I love his story and character development throughout the series! He's the anti-hero. You get so mad at him; feel so sorry for him; wish he'd knock it off and hope he'll turn up and somehow get the characters out of the mess they're in. Then you worry you're gonna lose the flamboyant brat you realize you've come to love! He's a complicated character and he's actually in a lot of emotional pain. I love the books and this movie did a really good job. Especially Tom Cruise as Lestat!
Yeah, you can tell he really got into the character and wanted to do him justice no matter how absurd he can be. He comes off as very antagonistic from Louis' perspective, but you can also tell how affectionate, vulnerable and desperate not to be alone he is. One of my favourite moments is the look on his face after Claudia asks "why do you say such things?" when he insults her.
Lestat was Extra before Extra was a thing we used to describe characters. And frankly, I love it. Tom Cruise arguably managed the most iconic vampire performance since the days of Bela Lugosi and Sir Christopher Lee!
That scene where Lestat dances with Claudia's mother & says "there's still life in the old lady yet!" was apparently improvised, another great line way he says "shut up Louis!" After Louis burns the house down hehe & yes Quinn Tom Cruise's character supposed to be that extrovert & he played it perfectly, glad ya enjoyed his role! 😊 Such a fantastic film! 1 of my favourites I can watch over & over & I definitely will be re-watching this reaction of it again & again, loved it so much! Great stuff guys! 😁💚💙💜♥️
My friends and I were really into the Anne Rice vampire books way back when, and when we heard Tom Cruise was going to play Lestat we lost our minds. How could they?!?! But when it came out we were forced to admit he did a great job.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 It was a poor film and was consistently regarded as mediocre. It was crummy then and was regarded as such at the time and there has been nothing else like it since almost all vampire movies are lame. As for it being "THE" Vampire movie of the time....nah. Lost Boys was 7 years before and was far more fun and Bram Stoker's Dracula came out two years prior to this and though it was not a very good film, it was still better than this garbage.
@@Khay-77 Rotten Tomatoes general consensus of all critics agree with me, not you. 63% fresh, which is not very good and only a 6.0 out of 10 critical rating from 64 critics. If you came home with a 60 on a math test, you know you did poorly. Pitt and Cruise's accents were horrible. This comes from an extremely popular book series by Anne Rice. She has an entire "Immortal Universe", centered around her home of New Orleans. Vampires, witches, spirits, werewolves, Taltos, and the such. Great stuff.
unfortunately she also wrote a series of books that were entirely about assaulting children & marketed it as "erotica", meaning the abuse itself was intended to be "erotic". she could have been great if she hadn't been a p*dophile.
@ravenhurst96 Taltos is the third book in the Mayfair Witch book series by Anne Rice. They are an ancient being. Pretty interesting stuff. Hopefully the Mayfair Series will go into them in the next couple is seasons.
@ROLANDSONOFSTEPHEN690 Oh, okay. I actually haven't read any of her books. My dad keeps getting on my case about that. He prefers the books to the movies; says they weren't very faithful to the character of Lestat at all. I really should look into them, but I've been dragging my feet about it. Haven't really been in a reading mood lately even though I love books. I'll eventually get around to it, I'm sure. 😊
it's actually pretty repulsive considering the way she wrote Claudia as hyper-sexual and craving attention from adult men....this was a terrible way to honor her own child and it just gives another look at her twisted psyche. she wrote the Sleeping Beauty books as adult erotica but it's entirely about assaulting children and enjoying the assault. I have to wonder whether she may have put her real-life daughter in harm's way at any point.
Claudia was also only six when turned in the book, but they aged that up because there was no way a six year old actress could pull off what Dunst could.
Been looking forward to this one lol. I watched this with my cousin during many sleepovers growing up. Still love it and the book series. RIP Anne Rice. 🖤
I never watched this version before watching the amc series so it’s interesting watching with you guys and comparing and contrasting the two. Like someone else commented, would love to see yall react to the series as well. And as always, thanks for another great reaction!
@@muhammedtalha3271 It is called ................ "Interview with the Vampire". Is a TV Series on AMC. Just finished second season. The first 2 seasons covered the first book. 3rd season will go into the second book. Anne Rice wrote 15 or so Vampire Chronicle books.
Although you should be warned to all make sure you look directly at the screen, and under no circumstances ever make eye contact with each other, during about 50-80% of the scenes xD
The series is excellent but quite different in many aspects. Both seasons cover the plot of the book (and the movie) and the tone is more serious and not as campy. Some basic elements are changed (specially regarding the timespan) but the overarching story is basically the same.
I wholly support this statement. So what do we as community need to do to see this. Get a certain amount of likes? Request this on the comments as many times as need be. Vacuum the lawn while baking a cabinet. We'll do it.😊😅😂

Omg, I’ll never forget watching this as a kid…. When Lestat came back, playing the piano with his decomposed skin, then he paused for a moment & dashed towards Claudia… my heart almost fell out of my body
And I loved how he still managed to get a dig at Claudia "....you have been a very, very naughty little girl" . Knowing Lestat from the books, it's definitely something he would say. Just to spite someone before they die. And then he feels remorse immediately after. Lestat truly was a Brat. He would walk in and mess everything up and others have to pick up the pieces. Which they always do because they simply cannot hate the guy. He's super annoying but so magnetic. He gets away with everything. Almost destroys the world and still the other vampires are like:" oh well....just don't do it, again, OK?" And what does Lestat do? Exactly what he was told not to do.😂
Guys u gotta watch the show. It's quite different from this film which while excluding a lot is quite faithful to the book, since Anne rice wrote the screenplay for the film. However the show still manages to capture the essence of the story and as a ravid fan of the book stories I could argue in some ways improves upon the film and novel. Hope to catch a reaction soon 😀
Note: In the books, it's Louis' brother who died. They gave Louis a wife and child in this movie because it was the 90s and they had to inject the film with some "not gay".
There is no "gay" in the books either because the vampires don't have sex drives - they fall in love with whoever, regardless of sex, because that ceases to be a factor for them. The whole side plot with Louis's brother is much too complicated for a two hours movie - changing it to a dead wife/child simplified everything and needed no long explanations. The Crying Game (2/19/93 - Steephen Rea starring - he's Santiago here) and Philidelphia (1/14/94 with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washinton) proved "gayness" or "queer themes" or whatever was not a problem in any artsy film being made at the time. Maybe for what they were hoping would be a big blockbuster type movie, but this - they could have made it more "gay" if they wanted to. That is not the point of the story though. We all can see that these are two "male" vampires making a family.
@@serralinda73 I'm not talking about what's in the book. What I meant was that the story had already been unofficially known as 'gay' and the producers wanted to nix any hint of that in the film. The film is very intimate. They didn't want to take the chance of being branded. (And gay doesn't always have to involve sex. It doesn't matter that they didn't have sex in the books. They were a couple. A completely FUBAR couple, but a still a couple.)
@@serralinda73 what are u talking about 💀 there was definitely gay in the books lol they just didn't have sex, you don't have to have sex to be gay/hetero/lesbian etc
Please watch the Interview with the vampire TV show! It’s just plain simple excellent TV, that makes you FEEL! Dramatic and fun with a flair fantasy and romance. Great acting performances and writing as well.
I watched the show before the movie, which kind of ruined it for me, I think. The show was just so perfect that when I went back to the movie, I just couldn't connect with the characters. Tom Cruises Lestat is fun, and Dunsts is good too, but Louis in the film (and the book now that im reading it) just doesn't have the same pull as in the show imo. Every character in the show is written and acted so beautifully!
The show on AMC is immaculate. The writing, production, acting, etc. Is better than most shows out there - for me it’s up there with House of the Dragon this past year.
es superior a ella puesto que tiene una puntuacion de 9,8 en ambas temp aunque a algunos fans de la pelicula no puedan aceptarlo y sam reid es mejor en todos los sentidos
I believe they aged up Claudia in the movie (10), the director thought an older actor would be able to deliver the emotions and depth needed for the character. Claudia was 5 years old in the book when they turned her. This movie for sure is one of my fave movies!
In the book, when they search for other vampires in Europe, they actually find some in Eastern Europe. However, instead of being humans who have kept all their culture and sense of self, what they find are basically blood sucking zombies, which is consistent with the Eastern Europe vampire legends.
Begging on my hands and knees for y'all to watch the Interview with the Vampire TV series on AMC. Season 1 is currently on Netflix, Season 2 is on AMC+. I'm not a fan of this movie and the TV show is some of the best TV I've seen in years. The show's dialogue and acting is off the charts, there is no equal.
I'm always confused by comments like this from the show fans. Do you not like the books either? The movie script was written by Anne Rice with the dialogue literally picked off the page in most cases.
@@vanyadolly Why are you confused? I LOVED the books, especially the first trilogy: Interview, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned. And yes, I recognized the transposition of dialogue straight out of Anne Rice to the brilliant TV series. Much as I enjoyed the 1994 movie I like the TV show far better. It goes much deeper into the subject matter and makes Louis even more of a disassociated outsider than he is in the first novel. It also does a better job fleshing out his backstory and family background than the movie could because, having 7 episodes, the show had more time to attend to these details. I'd give IWTV the TV series a solid 5/5 and the original subject matter (the book series) an enthusiastic 5/5 as well. Anne deserved a GOOD re-interpretation of her Chronicles and AMC+ really delivered.
The humor is dark, but it helps to balance out the absolute tragedy and their disrespect of life. It's almost outrageous in how silly it seems, but this is a neat perspective on how an immortal blood-drinker might view the world... like a playground. And it feels so creepy and inhuman, which is perfect. The directors and writers did a clever job in interpreting the books. Where it goes over the top, it then brings us way back down to earth in the moments of despair.
I think that was the point.. he played Lestat so well; who was so over the top... and outrageous. Tom did not look like himself at all; he lost weight, the length and color of his hair.. a total transformation... He was great! Also approved by the author, Anne Rice, herself.
Dunst acting in this movie is really the best. To pull off the things she did at her age was just stunning. Her tantrums and tirades as a child vampire who was really a an adult woman trapped in a child body are so on point.
I am so happy you guys reacted to this film. Since I was a little girl, it has always been one of my favorite movies of all time. Personally, I love movies that walk that line between horror and camp. I find every excuse possible to show this movie to people because no one ever suspects the comedic gothic chaos that ensues 😂As always, it was a joy to watch you guys 😊
As a book reader (I still read till "Merrick") this movie is faithful to the book, they did some changes e.g. no Paul (Louis' little bro) here, but it is still good and still follow the book's story that is why I love the movie so much. I had watched the movie first before I read the books. You should try to watch the series, it is awesome, they changed the timeline but I can feel the spirit of the books and Sam Reid as the new Lestat is phenomenal.
To me Anne Rice is the queen of vampire fiction. I went to the Quarter the night they filmed the fire scene in case it burnt the Quarter down I could say I was there.😄
I have to say that originally I believed that Tom Cruise's Lestat could not be beaten. I have to agree with many of my fellow coven, the new TV series is very good. Its been updated a little but I am okay with that. I recommend it.
That is the story of Anne and Stan Rice. They decided to have another child after their daughter died. But the birth of their son didn't heal the hurt. They were alcoholics in their sons' early years. Anne has mentioned she still felt bad about having her son to heal her own worth and it definitely affected how she brought him up. She wrote Claudia as a way to heal and to get her head straight and sober to be the mother her son needed her to be. Stan unfortunately died when Christopher was still a kid. The death of Stan was terrible but it also freed her from bring around a person who endured the same pain and loss.
This was such a fun watch! Fingers crossed the AMC show gets a viewing at some point! Pretty different vibe but certainly takes it's time a bit more with the story telling, also just incredibly beautiful direction/writing/acting, absolutely recommend it
I read the book and then watched the movie, Tom Cruise brought Lestat to life and Brad was Louis. I've never thought of this movie as a comedy, furthest thing from my mind.
After watching it at least 20 times,,Armand is very comical to me. And Lestat throwing grapes at Louis at the dinner table sends me into 'peals of laughter' every time
Vampire stories are peak existentialism. And I like that Oak pointed out that being undead was no way for Louis to escape his depression. Kirsten was frighteningly good at playing an adult in a kid's body.
It's kinda wild to be that Oak seemed to be the most lukewarm about the movie (indifferent, but entertained) while Mason and Answer seemed much more enthusiastic and responsive both during the movie and in the review... and yet Oak gave it the highest score. This ain't the first time this has happened either (recently, Stardust was also like this I think).
He is the kind of movie lover i like. It might not be to his taste but he can still be objective when it comes to the quality of a movie. I think 'Lincoln' is a great movie but i also find it very boring.
That wasn't quite the right er... spirit? state of mind? something like that... to watch this movie in, but I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, kinda. Yes, the movie has some comedy especially with Lestat's nonchalant approach to death, but the point of the movie is Louis' suffering which you guys did pick up on but didn't seem to empathize with. And that is fine, don't get me wrong, it just diminishes your chances to enjoy it I guess. Still, good reaction.
The books are so much. This first book is just soul crushing. Ann Rice had just lost her daughter and it's basically a book about grief and death, and depression. The second book is about The Flamboyant LESTAT, He redckons Louis' story saying he's an unreliable narrator. Lestat never kills innocent people. He sees the beauty in eternity. The second book is much more enjoyable as it is more a conversation on what's beautiful and what eternity means. Human Lestat was born 33 years before Louis. He only had 11years as a vampire before Louis. He didn't teach Louis much, because he didn't know much.
I cant even describe how good this movie AND the interview with a vampire Tv show is. Its legit phenomenal. Ive never seen a show so good. Glad you liked the movie!!
One thing to bear in mind is that Lestat is French. The French are flamboyant and over the top. But he’s way more subdued than Grace Jones, or Jean Paul Gaultier. Also, when you’re immortal and wealthy, you’re bound to be eccentric.
Immortality removes the need to grow up and evolve. Lestat might be 250+ years old but until Memnoch the devil, he was no different from the impish and rebellious mortal young man he was in life. Louis is the same. He was a broody young man. Immortality removed the need to evolve as a person. As Lestat himself said: Immortality doesn't make you wiser. The longer you live, the more time you have to become the worst and best parts of yourself. Even Marius after millenia, still cannot help wanting to be the smartest in the room. His resentment towards Lestat and Pandora is quite juvenile.
This is my favorite vampire movie, one of my favorite movies of all time and has been since I was a teenager. I've read some of the books, and as others have said, it's a great adaptation. Lestat is perfectly portrayed, Tom Cruise really embodies The Brat Prince, flamboyant, charming, dark humored. Louis is that tormented and depressed in the book as well, his human (and his religious) soul battling with his vampire nature. Antonio Banderas is of course perfect as Armand, tho I wish we had seen more of him. Kirsten Dunst crushes as Claudia, she is absolutely perfect. Fantastic acting at that young age (she was 11 in the movie. In the book, Claudia was turned into a vampire at 5 years old. I understand that they casted someone older, but it makes her story even more tragic). Now I want to read the books again and watch the TV series.
@@lilscenechick1995I don't think it's that. when he was reacting to that episode of 'the Last of Us' he was the first one to peep that Bill and Frank were gay. As a gay man of a certain age it really meant something when he said:" I'm not telling people when or how to come out. But if you don't; you might miss out on something truly beautiful and life is short" He has no qualms about sexual tension in a movie. I think he was reacting to the high camp factor . not sure if anyone mentioned it but claudia’s character is so much more heartbreaking when you know the context of anne rice writing this book after the passing of her 5 year old daughter- writing an immortal little girl, that grows and gets “older” while remaining a child, only to tragically die at the end.
this always repulses me considering she wrote Claudia as hyper-sexual and craved the attention of adult males while also claiming this was based on her own child, I could never imagine my child in those situations with a good conscience. not to mention she wrote an entire series about assaulting children in a BDSM setting, so it makes you wonder whether her own daughter was safe with her or not.
@@mels607 Claudia's sexuality did not emerge until after she was an 'adult' in years... just her body didn't change ... all of the people in the Sleeping Beauty series are also adults in years... not sure why you wonder if her daughter was safe with her... children mature and sex is a natural part of life... 🤔
@@mels607 hey so this is actually insane!
@@dem0litionsss exactly! The show completely obliterates her character. Way too old.
I think it's interesting that Anne Rice originally hated Tom Cruise being cast as Lestat. When she saw the performance, she admitted she was wrong and that he was Lestat.
Until Sam Reid came along... Fine wine... Fine wine...
its sad that they did not adapt more (except for queen of the damned)
of this world, considering there are loads more stories
If I remember correctly, she ended up buying a full page ad in Daily Variety to take back her criticism and praise Tom Cruise. I always thought that was awesome of her, and I'm sure it meant a lot to the actors.

Ironically, Lestat actually does know the original of Vampires.
It's the reason he survived all of the attempts on his life.
Well, doesn't find out at this phase of life with Louis. Wasn't til after the rock band phase.
@@wittleMermaid13 No. He met Akasha long before he met Louis, back when he was spending time with Marius. Marius was the guardian of Akasha and Enkil's sanctuary.
Nothing? One of the best vampire movies ever created?

Cruise didn't capture Lestat's depth... he only picked up the surface level
I agree! Tom Cruise Lestat my favorite of them all
Yeah, you can tell he really got into the character and wanted to do him justice no matter how absurd he can be. He comes off as very antagonistic from Louis' perspective, but you can also tell how affectionate, vulnerable and desperate not to be alone he is. One of my favourite moments is the look on his face after Claudia asks "why do you say such things?" when he insults her.
I read the books and I disagree....he'd wasn't horrible but not perfect.....the second estate is more spot on.
I'm not a vampire movie person but this is one of the few exceptions, one of the best
Lestat was Extra before Extra was a thing we used to describe characters. And frankly, I love it. Tom Cruise arguably managed the most iconic vampire performance since the days of Bela Lugosi and Sir Christopher Lee!

I've never heard of a "Talto" before. Thank you for giving me something new to look up! 😊
Some trivia for you. Claudia was kind of based on Anne Rice's daughter. And Claudia died in the book because of the death of Anne Rice's daughter.
it's actually pretty repulsive considering the way she wrote Claudia as hyper-sexual and craving attention from adult men....this was a terrible way to honor her own child and it just gives another look at her twisted psyche. she wrote the Sleeping Beauty books as adult erotica but it's entirely about assaulting children and enjoying the assault. I have to wonder whether she may have put her real-life daughter in harm's way at any point.
Claudia was also only six when turned in the book, but they aged that up because there was no way a six year old actress could pull off what Dunst could.

However the show still manages to capture the essence of the story and as a ravid fan of the book stories I could argue in some ways improves upon the film and novel. Hope to catch a reaction soon 😀
Adding a vote for the AMC show reaction!
A completely FUBAR couple, but a still a couple.)
they were definitely gay in the books loll
On the other hand Louis in the book was betrothed at some point but I think you are right since they also cut Lestat's student friend/lover.

Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt may be the big names here but little Kirsten Dunst stole this movie for me

One of my all time favorite movies.
Now you need to watch the show😃
I think that was the point.. he played Lestat so well; who was so over the top... and outrageous. Tom did not look like himself at all; he lost weight, the length and color of his hair.. a total transformation... He was great! Also approved by the author, Anne Rice, herself.
Guys, you should definitely react to the series. It's an unexpected delight, considering the banality of the last couple of years
Dunst acting in this movie is really the best. To pull off the things she did at her age was just stunning. Her tantrums and tirades as a child vampire who was really a an adult woman trapped in a child body are so on point.

I find every excuse possible to show this movie to people because no one ever suspects the comedic gothic chaos that ensues 😂As always, it was a joy to watch you guys 😊
Tom Cruise is also the only one who read the book front to back before shooting begun. He is Lestat.
I went to the Quarter the night they filmed the fire scene in case it burnt the Quarter down I could say I was there.😄
Yea, her vampires feel real.
I have to say that originally I believed that Tom Cruise's Lestat could not be beaten. I have to agree with many of my fellow coven, the new TV series is very good. Its been updated a little but I am okay with that. I recommend it.

He felt conflicted....which is the point of the movie, but not the point of most movies!
Do the show! Do the show! Do the show! ❤❤❤ It's so good and fleshes out the characters with so much more depth. Pleeeeeeease!
Movie is closer to the books
@@orphanedhanyou that's fine, it wasn't my point. As a piece of viewable media, I prefer the characterization and story telling of the series 🤷🏻♀️
He didn't teach Louis much, because he didn't know much.
please watch the show now!!!
The Oak was cringing a lot in this reaction vid. 😂
People react to the sexual tension differently 😂
@@lilscenechick1995I don't think it's that. when he was reacting to that episode of 'the Last of Us' he was the first one to peep that Bill and Frank were gay. And I remember him giving the most heartwarming closing thought that he wanted to share with the viewers. As a gay man of a certain age it really meant something when he said:" I'm not telling people when or how to come out. But if you don't; you might miss out on something truly beautiful and life is short"
He has no qualms about sexual tension in a movie.
I think he was reacting to the high camp factor . I mean how fabulous is Banderas when he dramatically tells Louis "but you ask....the wrong....questionsssss" 😂 love it. I love this movie so much that I sometimes forget how delightfully silly and over the top it can be.
