(Honda tech here) Brake hold is used when at a red light or waiting in line at a drive though when you need to leave your car in drive but also have to hold the brake. When you push the “brake hold” button it engages, step on the brake pedal to disengage. I also agree that the model and configuration of civic you chose to review your s not the best one. Your criticisms are valid and well pointed, but the best type of civic to purchase would be the 1.5 turbo with a 6 speed manual trans. These can make up to 174 hp stock and when tuned and with the proper mods can make much more.
