  • This video is a helpful guide to taking astrophotography shots of the milky way. I took a trip up to Joshua Tree NP last week, on the evening of a new moon. I got one or two images that turned out quite good, Hope you enjoy the video.

Nice work, Graeme. I shoot from 29 Palms nearby. Have you tried out the new "Denoise" feature in Lightroom? This new feature makes our star backgrounds so clear, I have been going crazy re-editing NEF's from 5 years ago! I may bump into you out there one day, that is also the very best place to shoot in So Cal. Hope to see more of your work.

Thanks so much for the comment. I haven't made a video for a long time but I am thinking of maybe doing some more. Hope to see you out in the desert. It's a magical place. Lightroom's denoise is amazing. I have been re-editing some of mine too :)

Graeme, can you tell what filters you use? Glad you came to Utah - Live there

Great idea to go for some long exposure night photography. The shots were lovely. Also great eye catching the composition you took during sunset. California is truly nature heaven. Don’t know what place in the world could rival it. 🤔

Thanks Diego. Yes, California is an amazing place with all the different landscapes. If you can handle all the people and how expensive it is then it's a great place to live.

I know. It's a struggle for me on both. I am off to Zion tomorrow and then Antelope Canyon. I am about to check out your Zion series. :)

Graeme Somerville ah very nice, thanks man. Give some time to wondering around the east side of the park. :) Have you Antelope heard of Antelope X?

Yes, I have heard of canyon X. Sounds a lot less crazy than Antelope Upper. The Upper has been on my bucket list forever so I am going to just go for it. I know it'll be a difficult and stressful experience but just to go there once will be a thrill. I have only got about 24 hours in Zion and a day in Page AZ. I was going to explore Hidden Canyon in Zion tomorrow afternoon and then The Narrows (get on the first shuttle) on Tuesday. Not a very long time I know but balancing this hobby and two very young kids is a challenge in itself. :)

Hello, thanks for watching. The app is called Photopills. It's excellent and a lot of landscape photographers are using it.
