Thank you so much, Michael. This is truly surreal. I appreciate all of the kind words pouring out in the comments. This is super special. For anyone looking for it, this song is available on all streaming services! Thank you guys so much
Matt... this is exactly what our community needed today - thank you! Our hearts are with your family and the journey of your shoes. Cheers Matt - thank you Michael for being you and sharing this
Michael, son, I am old enough to be your grandmother. I have never played guitar in my life. Why do I watch your postings just about every night? To watch the genuine authentic emotion played out on your face as you watch others create their music and because it is all displayed with an integrity and respect and delight that is missing in our world. To watch you hold your little baby boy, to watch the face of one of your older sons, to hear the voice of your wife exasperated - this is REAL life. Not glamored up for your viewers, but revealing life as it is being lived out in real time. You are an AMAZING teacher, not just of guitar, but of life, holding as steady as you can with many demands on you. It sounds often as if you have come a long way through some hard stuff, but NONE of it has been wasted as you are a dear reminder of perseverance and focus and hard work. God bless you and your family.
Katharine, I'm old enough to be your grandson, and would be honored if I was. Thanks for taking the time to tell Mr. Palmisano exactly what it is that he's doing for the world.
I'm 47 my grandpop is 92 and he is the best man I have ever met on this planet morally uncorrupt.Grandma and him been married 71 years. My dad wasn't nice ran off my pop-pop raised me.He's not doing well. But he said to me because I'm the closest living male family member and only grandson for the first 10 years outta what ended up being 25 grandkids. He said to me"if I become a vegetable keep me alive as long as possible because your Grandma needs the $3,000 a month that come because of me and if I die that stops. If if I die you must move in with her the day that I die and not leave her because she will fall apart".that's a big responsibility for a 47-year-old Man that looks at him like he's Mount Everest.I'm absolutely petrified scared.Your comment reminded me of my grandmother, although she had a stroke and can't walk well it is 87,she still seems like she's going to live for a while.I'm so scared for myself, her and the life of my pop-pop. I watch Michael for the same reasons you do and it sounds like you're near their age of the "Greatest Generation".I wish that life could be like it was when I was a kid in the 1970s. Sometimes I wish even more that life was like it was when my grandparents married in 1950.It's a world gone mad.You just made me feel a little bit better so thank you.
Everything Music & Guitar Shenanigans You, my dear, will be okay. The scariest times in my life when I just felt overwhelmed were the exact seasons that I leaned into a stronger power that never failed me. Sometimes it felt like I was completely alone and had no resources or answers, but I have lived enough years to now look back and see He was walking beside me. These hardest of times were what He used to show me my true strength and fortitude. I see YOU becoming the same Mt. Everest your grandfather is to you for others because you will see what you are capable of. If your faith is weak or forgotten it is NEVER too late to lean into the One who upholds you. Not preaching, just speaking from my heart and experience.
Bro you gotta know their metrics ain’t shit, they don’t show you the loyalty and friendship that we all feel towards someone we’ve never actually met. Thanks and I appreciate you sir.
Michael im just a broke ass subscriber who barely knows which end of my guitar to hold, let alone play it. But brah, i dont come for the guitar lessons, i come because you turn me onto the most amazing music. Some i know, most i dont and i love that. Thank you on behalf of the elite few like me that are just here for the music. All the best in all your endeavors.
This is me, I don't play but love music. And love getting to see you dissect some of my favorite songs, and some that become favorites. Just know that I love what you do and appreciate what you do.
Thank you for all of your content, I'm sorry for your loss. As I read at my grandmother's funeral (and popularized by the Zombies), "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven"
Amazing interaction with one of us regular fans. The song, the lyrics, the simple way it was played is a throwback to what I think. We all wish we could connect to more often. Big thank you.
I came with Billy Strings and stayed for the folk, blues, bluegrass, old time rock n roll, jammin', everything I have always loved but don't have anyone to share with. Your reactions to the clips reach out and hit me with *look at that!* You nurture and encourage and teach people HOW. to learn. I leave the time I spend with you humming and energized. Yes, I keep sending you *look at that* messages, but even if you never respond, I will keep hitting that Thumbs Up. I loved the vision in Matt's song. Thanks for sharing it. 💕🙋🎶🎵
A video of two people doing stuff they’re passionate about. If that’s not inspiring, I don’t know what is. Keep up the great, genuine reviews and reactions. Don’t worry about the metrics - just read the comments and know you’re making peoples days and changing people lives for the better
Thank you Matt Glavin and Michael. I've only been a subscriber for a few days. This video of Matt hit me hard today, as the wife an old friend lost her battle with Cancer this morning. So to cheer me up I played the video of Frankie Valli singing Sherry Baby, I didn't get through the first verse before losing it, her name was also Sherry. Dumb idea under the circumstances. I like how you complimented Matt on finishing this song to his Grandmother. Kudos to both of you
Michael, don't get down man. Not only have you taught so many of us so much about music, but you've brought your heart and soul to this channel and it's so much more than reactions or likes. Look at this community you've helped build, that's not nothin' man. I know it doesn't pay the bills to say, "Hey but people feel good when they watch my videos" but it's still a currency in this disconnected world - a valuable currency at that.
21 year old here, don’t play guitar very well, yet I’ve been watching your content for well over a year now. You are a light on this site. A voice of reason, a calming place. When you turn this channel on it’s like putting on a new song and dissecting it with a close friend. Always enjoy your analysis and THANK YOU for taking the time to give all of us out here a good friend to relax and enjoy music with! It does more than you know!
I just subbed to the channel. I watched Travis Meadows first off. It's nice to know that there are still human beings out in this world. We have to lift each other up and be a community again.
I speak on behalf of all of us when i say "thank you" for everything you do Michael. whenever you upload we know it's a good day. Top man! also that was a beautiful song Matt.
why am i crying at my desk right now?? Man your channel is the best, I played stand up bass for nine years and guitar throughout high school and college.... I put it down when I got a job and a family and after finding you I went out and got an acoustic off the scratch and dent rack at guitar center to play around the house and am now playing daily. I forgot how therapeutic playing was look forward to your videos. Keep doing what you do, its special.
Hands down my favorite channel on youtube. You are so genuine. Pure. Too many people listen to music and never hear it. Never feel it. You know what it is all about. Thank you.
Maybe a handwritten letter to him from you would be a nice keepsake for him and a continuation of the story. Beautiful song and story. Thank you for all you do.
Your video popped up on my feed a couple weeks ago. I love your content and hope you find inspiration in knowing that you make a difference to a simple guy like like me. I’ve discovered so much new music and have picked up my bass and started playing again since my pops passed a couple years ago. This is because of your passion for reviewing music and laying it out for us. Thank you and God Bless.
Michael, thanks so much for what you do brother. Through your channel and your teaching I have learned, listened and discovered music I had been missing in my life. Keep on brother! Your neighbor down the road in Annapolis!
Keep on rocking brother! As a content creator and how you make a living, it's tough to decouple your content's "value" from your metrics. I hope you know your content is invaluable to a lot of us and we appreciate what you do, just look at the likes/dislikes ratio, incredible. You can try introducing new revenue streams if it's becoming a stressor (sponsored videos, promoting video APPLAUD, merch, premium content, etc.). We want to see you succeed!
As a new guitar educator, watching your videos has helped me rekindle my interest and passion for playing music. Now, I'm getting excited every time I see a student because watching your videos also helped me remember material that I learned in college studying guitar. Keep doing what you're doing man, don't let the views get you down and keep pushing through! I love your videos and they inspire me!
brother. Never missed a beat. So many souls whose stories are never told and you gave life to theirs. We should all be so lucky. Thanks for sharing @Michael Palmisano
I lost my Grandpa in 2012 and my son was born 2 weeks after. All I wanted in this world was for my grandpa to meet him! But I was no gifted with that. You did an amazing job on this song my friend. Thank you for you talents!
A handwritten note is unique, one of a kind, the feelings at the time of writing, the tiny errors and corrections made with each stroke of the pen say more than the words on the page.
Super appreciate your videos and lessons via Guitar Gate. I wouldn't get too bummed about the viewer numbers etc. I think in general people are wiped out and just *over* it... "It" being the past year and the drama and uncertainty. Psychologists have documented that during crises there's a quite predictable "wall" that's hit at around the 6 month point. Then that pattern repeats approx. every 6 months but dampens out a bit with each subsequent occurrence. You're definitely not alone - I've been mentioning to my partner that the number / frequency of postings from my favorite guitar people on RUclips, as well as the views / likes / comments, seem to be WAY down compared to ~ 6 months ago... I think all around exhaustion has set in...
These videos are almost everything I want to get and never do when I ask/tell someone to listen to the lyrics of a song instead 15 seconds later they’re distracted and talking about something else.
Just keep at it bro. First time I saw you on the tube was your reaction to Tom Bukavac and I got so tickled that you were so tickled at his playing. Man, made my day. I've been watching ever since and try not to miss Tuesday nights. Your joy is contagious. Sure has helped getting through 2020 ( Year of the Hoover) because it "sucked". You've turned me on to some new music because of Tuesday nights. Keep it up....
Every person ever born has served a purpose. If you feel like you're alone in your journey, try telling others your story and watch what happens. Someone, somewhere needs to hear your story if only to know they are not alone in this world. We ALL matter.
Oh yes, there is nothing quite like a proper letter; put the kettle, read it with a brew and savour the moment. Begining, middle and end. I paint. Old fashioned style. I paint what I want to the way I want to; people say "wow" but I never sell a thing! Doesn't matter. If one person likes a painting it was worth the doing. I don't want to copy anyone else so I just learn the methods. the tricks, the wrinkles, from others. The nuts and bolts. That's why I'm here, so that when I relax with that 2nd hand Stagg (great neck, daren't plug it in ...) I can find my own way around those old songs (5ft 2, Georgia Brown, Deal...) Note for note tab would be like tracing an old master (hard work and soul-less). That's why I am here. You're an inspiration. Keep up the great work, it's worth the doing ! Pete
I to paint, with oils and begin in 1968 and feel exactly the same way as you, I did what I did for personal growth. I was never interested in selling my work. I came to this channel because Mike was discovering Grateful Dead and braking down Jerry’s playing techniques. I began playing guitar the same year. I poured most of creative energy into painting but kept playing over the years. I met Jerry and the band in 1971,including Bear himself. I have a nice collection of works I painted on acid. I only worked on them while doing it. I studied the works of all the great painters and visited the great museum’s around the country. I have been lucky to have the money now to buy high end left handed guitars, which makes all the difference in following Jerry’s style.Your the first painter I have found that feels like I do.Hope you see this and know you’re not alone.⚡️🖖🏽⚡️
@@stephentmarksberry4484 Hi Stephen. Read this with a mug of tea, thank you. I wanted to paint when I was a kid. Saved up and bought a set of paints. Notuition, no help, small tube of white...no chance. Same when I got a cheap acoustic guitar. Went to Swansea university in 80. That;s when I found a cassette of Working Man's Dead in a shop in Uplands. Bought a chipboard, Kay, SG copy with pretend Bigsby ! Happy days. Sold my Epiphone LP after an accident that cut all my tendons and the ulnar nerve in my left hand. I can't grip with my thumb or spread my fingers...so took up mandolin. Now I have a DeArmand semi and that black Stagg which flies. Crazy chord shapes and lightning fast. deinitely no barre chords. Got back to painting on dialysis (lots of time and you tube !) Kidney Pancreas transplant in 18, great to be alive and playing and painting. The latest is called Black Dog, a bit of Vermeer and a bit of Led Zep ! On lockdown (again) until April so need to keep creating to stay sane, wrestling with those arpeggiated demented chords. ...and on the subject of Swansea...ever come across Man ? Hard to search on YT try 'Ride and the View'. Bill Graham loved them too. Cippolina guested for a while. Keep creating Stephen...and Michael. Pete
@@peteannells4218 Dr. Pete glad to meet you. How is it that I found your comment among all the comments that Mike generated with his enormous heart. The Grateful Dead’s mojo what else. Micheal, just wore the battery out on my iPad cramming another group of you videos. Billy Strings,Mike Dawes, Morgan Wade , priceless, talented and honest heartfelt performances. Screw the metrics. Your reactions, musical breakdowns and honest reviews are just as talented. Across the face of my barn - a billboard to the public. I have written and I SAY TO YOU. Aspire to Inspire. Your welcome !
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: man, this is what RUclips should be. Real words, real songs and positive vibes from real people. Once again, my compliments for this great channel. The only one on whose videos I click without even thinking. It has made me fall in love with my guitar again. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Here’s the lyrics :) Gone are the days of my tennis shoes, walking to school My head of hair, and boots and 3 piece suits Goodbye church choir it’s been nice Those countless hours spent beneath those lights Been thinking about leaving for a while That workin blues took a toll on me I know 30 years might not sound like much But it’s taken enough of my time away from you You tell boxing in the basement to sit tight Cuz our oldest boys oldest just turned 9 All those hospitals and letters you would write and watching Lefty in the streets just picking fights I still think about the tough times that we had And how they brought us both good old Joseph fern Gone are the days of my tennis shoes, walking to school My head of hair, and boots and 3 piece suits Ive been lookin down writing for a while With a seat beside me a coffee and a big old smile I know you always liked it when I sang Now I finally get to sing this one to you Here come the days of your dancin shoes My Elvis moves, our checkered seats down on the beach, Just me and you
Hey Michael. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to get too stressed over the numbers...you are a friend and an inspiration to many on here. Just one of your videos and our brief conversation helped me to pull myself out of a hole not long ago, I know you'll remember. Your knowledge and enthusiasm can make a difference in peoples lives. You have a great thing here brother, you're doing it right.
Hi Michael, great story, and I can relate to it a little bit. About 2 years ago I found a bunch of hand written letters that my Dad wrote to my Mom when he was dating her in the late 1930's. He would write them on his lunch hour at work. Always saying how much he loved her and couldn't wait to see her that night and also how he couldn't wait to marry her. He knew what he was doing, they were married 68 years. He died at 93 and my mom passed at 98. They were both amazing and loving parents..... Time for me to pick up the guitar and start writing 🙂.
Thanks Michael. Love your work keep at it. with things opening up around the country I'm sure all of the RUclipsrs are seeing a little dive right now. But this channel is about more than playing guitar to me, it's about connecting with the music and enjoying our passion.
Fuuuuuuck. I’m sitting at a racetrack in nowhere’s ville Eat’n lunch on my break and bumming internet.... and now it’s gettin dusty in this grimy old work truck. I needed this too. Thank for sharing, both of you.
Mr Palmisano, I absolutely love this channel. I think I have watched all of your videos over the last lockdown, I love grabbing a guitar and working out the tracks live with you, love it! Keep on doing what your doing, your inspiring so many to pick up the guitar and play, do not worry about the RUclips algorithm! I especially love how much you educate about the Melody and it’s importance when really understanding a track. I’m a school teacher in England, first day back at school following restrictions, a little light at the end of the tunnel! One request, Blacks Crowes, Nonfiction. Me and my Dad would listen to this all the time, played as we carried him into the church at his funeral, an absolutely beautiful song; I would love to see your take on it. Keep on rocking in the free world man! PS: stuff on Grateful Dead has been game changing!
Michael, I am such an appreciative fan and am so thankful for your genuine love for the music, guitar, artist, your audience, your friends and all those intangibles in-between that have been powerful reaffirmation that I have drawn soulful support from constantly as I navigate the road that is "for your ( my) steps alone." At the age of 54, being one of "Jerry's kids" and probably owing the fact that I am still alive to the outlet that playing guitar provides to, your sharing of your gifts have been incredibly helpful in my tendency to become focilized with my guitar abilities. You have taught me the music theory and techniques that I have been admiring for years in the musical voicing that are the distinctive characteristics that I have recognized in the playing style of the artists I have been in great admiration of (recently, your beautiful explication of BB Kings's playing). I could go on and on. I just wanted to make sure you knew what you are to myself, and I know, to many others regardless of the way you are trending on RUclips. I am very sorry about not joining your channel but am living in my car and am financially challenged. Your value is far beyond money to me and I am humbled by the fact that I could not ever imagine a dollar amount that would compensate you for the way you are giving to me, and I am not the only person that you are adding to I hope you know. Thank you so very much! Keep on keepin' on (my mantra ala Bob Dylan).
Thanks for sharing this man - great community is everything- it keep us goin when our sails are not all catching wind at the same time - and well done Matt! Great story, great tune. Sorry for your losses, you served their memory well.
Michael i just also wanted to say thank you and keep it up. I just found out today that my job of 11 years will be ending soon and the place that I experienced so many great interactions will be taken from me. Its not easy but this video post of yours is a reminder that being sincere and caring of others will push us through the shit that life often slings at us. And just wanted to tell you that your videos inspired me as a mandolin player to take the plunge and finally get the lessons ive needed. Although not through you it was your breaking down of songs that reminded me i have so much to learn and that theres no time like the present. And i can assure you that i will one day soon pick the guitar back up and sign up for your online lessons! Keep on keeping on!!! And thank you!
@@ChrisLawton66 Yes for sure, but some people live they're dead, like I did for a while. But this channel ain't about that, it's about truth and life and beautiful experiences, that's what I mean by "real". People are attracted to this kind of "down-to-earthness". We need that.
This was a nice video. It's not so much about the guitar but the music. I'm not a subscriber or even a professional musician but I've played guitar for a long time and what gets me most about songs isn't how hard they are to play but the emotion songwriters and performers put into the music. There's an old saying that says the best songs are just three chords and the truth.
How awesome is this?! One day I watch you react to BB King and today I watch you play a video from a subscriber and fan, who wrote about their grandparents and thought you might connect with it. Love the way you connect to good stories and great music no matter where it comes from! Thanks for all you’re doing for this community Michael, particularly in these tough days. And thanks to Matt for sharing his grandparents story. Stay safe and well all.
Michael, I don’t know what’s causing the youtube algorithms to ding you, but I do have a suggestion. When I was in high school, my art teacher did what art teachers do and taught. He would work on little projects on the side in class while we worked on our assignments, but one of the coolest things I experienced in his class was when he invited us to an art exhibition containing his work. It was the first time that I got to see a collection of the masters work that I had been learning from and it gave me a new perspective on him and a new respect for the things he was teaching me. We often get to see your talent on display as you figure out others work and in your little riffs at the beginning of each video, but personally, I have no sense for who you are as an artist. I would love to see some of your work, whether it be songs you’ve written or playing with a band or whatever you see fit. You’re a great teacher but sometimes the student needs to see the master on display.
I didnt realize how bad I needed this video. Ive been in a slump lately with figuring out life and trying to get back to a point when worries didnt worry me so much. Thank you for this. "Do the stuff that you want to do." That resonated with me.
Michael , I've seen lot of your vids I need to hit that like button more. love it, you have passion for guitar you teach as you enjoy, thanks for you vids .More of us,appreciate than you know , guitar brother .you inspire
Resonance! I don't want to sound psychic and alternative. But I mean this literally. We're all energy (of sorts) and are made of "star stuff". When we manage to get our energy in tune with someone or something else, it's MAJESTIC! These 9 minutes have resonated with me deeply. Keep at it Michael! And thank you Matt for the heartwarming song. Our lives intersected and I'm wealthier for it :)
Love your stuff man, keep making videos like you do. I’m not even a guitar player but I come here for your reactions and the love/respect you show for the music. Anything goes, from the dead to city and colour. And then you’ll even showcase a video like this.. hell fricken yeah man. Nothing but respect and admiration from over here man.
I've been subscribed for a while and I've watched a lot of your videos. This one struck a different tone. This one touched me on an emotional level. We tend to write our best stuff when we are in the most pain. That's when we bare our soul. It's real. Thanks brother!
You're a magic person, Michael. Your emotion is raw, your passion for music could light up an entire arena, and your happiness is infectious. Fuck the algorithms. Keep doing what you do best and we'll be there to have your back! Peace & love from Missouri -Todd
Michael, thanks for sharing this video, and for all that you do. I can say for a fact that you've already carved your own unique space in the guitar youtube world, and I know I will be coming back to this channel for a very long time. Nobody I've seen does what you do better than you. One thing I appreciate that you talk about that I rarely hear from other channels is how the other band members contribute to the overall sound of a band. You do a really great job of highlighting how to listen to the rest of the band as a guitar player, and how to really play well as a unit. I feel like learning to listen is a whole new level of musicianship that can totally transform the way we play, and I've already started picking up some really neat concepts about this through your videos. Most guitar content seems to just focus on the guitar playing, but you really have a holistic view of music that I can't get anywhere else on this platform. Maybe that can be some food for thought if you're looking for new content to create :) Hope you have a great rest of your day!
If you’re going to support musicians of all types... I will support you. Is how it is... Very great idea. You are very smart and wise man. Continue this moving forwards. Greatest idea I’ve seen in a long time. Well played, sir. Tugged me heart strings a bit too. Peace!
So many things in these lyrics are so moving. I just realized that... hand written letters have almost been entirely replaced by emails and text now. Loved it so much. Thanks for sharing.
Michael, I don't play guitar but I've been watching your reaction videos for awhile now and still I hadn't subscribed. After watching this video there was no way that I was moving on without subscribing. This video made me realize that the emotion on your face in these videos is genuine and I see value in that. I don't see that from these other people on RUclips. I see now that you are real and I have subscribed. I'm looking forward to more reaction videos and I'm going to recommend your channel to my son who is currently trying to learn guitar. Keep it up and may I suggest a reaction video to Merle Haggard's Kern River.
It’s a good one Michael. Keep it up man and stay positive. You’ve come a long way in your channel since I first saw your videos last year! Your thoughts about photos and letters is spot on. Best Conner
Michael. I love your channel. I am a bassist, not a guitarist (don’t even own one presently), but I really appreciate your thoughtful analysis of material that you present. Screw the metrics.
Love your videos and your enthusiasm, this song was beautiful and shows how touched people are by your content, stay the course and good things will continue to happen to good people...
As a person who is just starting to play music I found YOUR channel awesome. I love the different artist and genres you do helps me enjoy music more. Also as someone who cares too much about what others think, and I know its really hard to do but u should post videos that you want to do even if its not popular your real fans will still enjoy it and you will find an audience with the people who like the same things you do! LOVE WHAT YOU DO!!!!
hey, just wanted to let u know that u reach across communities bro. im black and me n my homies (none of us play guitar, but we play other shit) watch ya videos all the time, because it’s dope to hear a new song in genres we’ve never explored and from artists we woulda never heard of. You’re like a guide for us fr, like a dope teacher from school that you’ll remember forever because they inspired you somehow. woulda never ever heard the beauty of tedeschi trucks midnight in Harlem n stuff if it wasn’t for you. metrics are for content and this aint that. there’s not a number big enough for the value of what you’ve given us. thanks man.
First off... Matt, thank you for having the courage & heart to share such a moment with us. It's courage like yours that will pull a guy like me out from the shadows to feel a little sunshine after hiding my music for so long. So thank you once again. And Michael, man, I've got a lot to say to you but I'll keep it brief before I head over to sign up at Guitargate. In the first video I watched I could tell every cell in your body is a music fan. But in the very next video I clicked on you shared something very personal about your family life. You don't hear real shit like that these days and I appreciate real people. Brother, I hope all is well with your family. I'm a big fan. Thank you for sharing your talent, heart and encouragement with us. Hang tough.
Amen. Thank you Matt and Michael. This, the human connection, is why the music never stops 💙 Matt, really love your song, bringing back some of that first verse at the end in the folk tradition tied up this epic story beautifully. Thanks again, brother.
You are a very sincere person an very caring, you bring knowledge and reality to everyone in every video we appreciate everything you do for this community, keep it up man you are a very standup guy. Thank you!
Michael, this was so cool man, what a beautiful story. I love how passionate you are about music and how much you care about people. I always look forward to your videos. Your channel is very inspiring my friend, thanks✌
That was a great song! Thank you for sharing it with us Michael. Thank You for writing it Matt - you remind me a lot of Billy Bragg in your style? (check his stuff out, seriously!) It got me right in the feels too... I lost one set of grandparents ten years ago TODAY, my gran died from vascular dementia and ovarian cancer, then 6 months later my grandad died of a broken heart. Hearing it brought back lots of great memories and joy, and a bittersweet lump to my throat. I miss them so much, I was their first grandkid so we had a really close bond. To this day I still yearn to hear my grandad call me "dear boy" down the phone 😔 Keep doing what you do my friend - I and all your fans love you and your channel. We've got you when times are hard and points are low, because you've got US when we're the same. I found your channel about a year ago just about the time of first UK lockdown, and you've always made things brighter and I've discovered new artists through you. I can't play a single note on the guitar (but my air guitar is soooo strong! Lol), but I watch you because your enthusiasm and determination is infectious, you're always a teacher (of music and wisdom), you're never condescending or lauding, you have big love for everyone and everything guitar, and you resonate on a personal level. Keep doing what you're doing - I'll always be a lifelong fan because you'll always be a lifelong human being. Big love from the UK, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you for being you. 🙏🏻 Namastè 🙏🏻
Thank you so much, Michael. This is truly surreal. I appreciate all of the kind words pouring out in the comments. This is super special.

We need more people like you, as well, Katharine.
Hear, Hear.
No one online is doing what you do. Your reactions are just moving. Don't get bummed. You Rock! Thanks for being here. Marilyn
Thank you :)
I second that. Michael's simply the best
I love your videos too, your enthusiasm is inspiring
best reply ever @mrsharbormaster.... you can have my mod pick on a Live show
Bro you gotta know their metrics ain’t shit, they don’t show you the loyalty and friendship that we all feel towards someone we’ve never actually met. Thanks and I appreciate you sir.
I do, but I also really need to be reminded some times! Thank you sir.
You inspire and I thank you ! What a video !what a song what's story!
Thanks John! Glad you're with me :)
This is me, I don't play but love music. And love getting to see you dissect some of my favorite songs, and some that become favorites. Just know that I love what you do and appreciate what you do.
Hey I resemble that remark!! John D couldn’t have said it better.
Also thanks again Michael!!🎸🎸🎸
Fantastic video Michael. You are a good dude. :). Would love to jam sometime.
Super video! I applauded for $10.00 👏👏👏
Thank you for all of your content, I'm sorry for your loss.
Nice job Matt. I'm sure your grandparents are feeling your love.
You’re all Irish on the outside, but that heart of yours is definitely Italian. I love that you did this video.
this songwriter is absolutely touching ! that's how music needs to be felt ! thanks for sharing !!!
this song still gets me a year later... great great song. not many hit me in the feels like this one does
❤️
Kudos to both of you
So sorry for your loss ❤️ thanks so much
Michael, don't get down man.
The most valuable. Thanks brother. I know that's true!
A very true currency.
Tru dat
All of this is so good. I love love. Thanks folks.
THANK YOU!
Defenitly felt that ,thanx for sharing the music my friend 🎶🇨🇦
Your appreciation if this...seeing this as an expression of life. Thanks for your videos and especially your humility. Tim
why am i crying at my desk right now??
Thank you and God Bless.
damn that one really reached out and grabbed me. amazing work
Thanks for the inspiration on a day when it was needed. I don't know how you can through singing that without breaking up.
Great writing, great song. Thank you for sharing it Matt and Michael
Michael, thanks so much for what you do brother. Through your channel and your teaching I have learned, listened and discovered music I had been missing in my life. Keep on brother! Your neighbor down the road in Annapolis!
Thanks Jon!!
I’m new to this channel but I’m so thankful for it! I’ll send you some of my songs my brother!
brother. Never missed a beat. So many souls whose stories are never told and you gave life to theirs. We should all be so lucky. Thanks for sharing @Michael Palmisano
Cheers!
I'm 52, just learning the guitar and you give me confidence to keep pushing through the rough patches. Thanks.

Thank you.
That's what it's all about. Thanks brother.
Great comment; I agree with you.

Spot on man, I'll take Real Life Hitters for $300 Alex!
Please have him send you these lyrics, a beautiful song
Thank you so much! Here’s the lyrics :) Gone are the days of my tennis shoes, walking to school
My head of hair, and boots and 3 piece suits
Goodbye church choir it’s been nice
Those countless hours spent beneath those lights
Been thinking about leaving for a while
That workin blues took a toll on me
I know 30 years might not sound like much
But it’s taken enough of my time away from you
You tell boxing in the basement to sit tight
Cuz our oldest boys oldest just turned 9
All those hospitals and letters you would write
and watching Lefty in the streets just picking fights
I still think about the tough times that we had
And how they brought us both good old Joseph fern
Gone are the days of my tennis shoes, walking to school
My head of hair, and boots and 3 piece suits
Ive been lookin down writing for a while
With a seat beside me a coffee and a big old smile
I know you always liked it when I sang
Now I finally get to sing this one to you
Here come the days of your dancin shoes
My Elvis moves, our checkered seats down on the beach,
Just me and you
Thank you so much
Good on you both. Crying with the rest of you.
Beautiful video. Thanks so much for posting it and sharing his song.
Very personal. Probably my favorite. Just simple pure emotional life experiences. Hits you right in the feels! 🤙🏼
Never stop man you put so much good out into the world
Michael, I am such an appreciative fan and am so thankful for your genuine love for the music, guitar, artist, your audience, your friends and all those intangibles in-between that have been powerful reaffirmation that I have drawn soulful support from constantly as I navigate the road that is "for your ( my) steps alone." At the age of 54, being one of "Jerry's kids" and probably owing the fact that I am still alive to the outlet that playing guitar provides to, your sharing of your gifts have been incredibly helpful in my tendency to become focilized with my guitar abilities.
Your channel is a beacon for the real people in this world... people are in need of that... keep it up Michael!
We're all real people.
I love this channel more and more! Great song!
love you and what you do. thanks for using your unique voice in the right way. a joy to follow along.
Amazing... memories are what makes us and help us crossover!
I didnt realize how bad I needed this video. Ive been in a slump lately with figuring out life and trying to get back to a point when worries didnt worry me so much. Thank you for this. "Do the stuff that you want to do." That resonated with me.

Thank you brother :) I love you
Michael, thanks for sharing this video, and for all that you do.

The content you present on RUclips by far surpasses ALL the other channels I watch. It’s because you are real. Keep at it and please don’t change.
Deal my friend :)
Right on! Thank you Mike and Matt for being really good humans. Keep on strummin'!
It’s a good one Michael. Keep it up man and stay positive. You’ve come a long way in your channel since I first saw your videos last year!

YES. Totally agree about the repeated verse at the end. Thanks for pointing that out!
This one cut me down. Needed it today. Thanks
Thank you Greg :)
This one hit me in the feels too ..
That was a great song!
Thank you for sharing it with us Michael.
Thank You for writing it Matt - you remind me a lot of Billy Bragg in your style?
(check his stuff out, seriously!)
It got me right in the feels too...
To this day I still yearn to hear my grandad call me "dear boy" down the phone 😔
Keep doing what you do my friend - I and all your fans love you and your channel.
Grandparents are the best, man. Thanks so much. And what a great compliment, Billy Bragg is the best!
Such good guys. Great song. 🤍
I’m French. I don’t undestand everything, all the words. But I feel emotion, over words!! Thank you very much. It’ so simple, but so cool.👍 👍
