    You should do a test with the Vorsprung Smashpot.

    Nice one Jeansy. They’ll never be a 38 factory or Zeb but for the money it’s the best budget fork around. Anyone suffering with the sub- par Z1 air… the coil conversion gives you a killer bang for buck. Side note, Todd was hauling……

      Yeah I’m curious to see how much different it will be with the grip2 damper. If it fills the gap and tames it a little it might be great. Have you thought about trying the next spring up on yours?

      @@mtbtelly5522 nah the spring rate was spot on for me, I ran about 6 clicks of preload and the damper at around 2:30 position. apparently the grip2 is better again so you can really tune it but I’ve read the grip damper works better with the coil than the air spring, i never bottomed it or it ever felt too harsh on the light stuff . It made me more curious about a Vorsprung in a Zeb more than anything. I’ll never know though as I sold the GT yesterday so the forks gone now. Looking forward to see what you get out of it.

    For racing at the end of the day…New Zeb or 38? I’ll have a guy check the grease on the 38 if it’s bad. But what do you reckon for enduro this season here in Washington?

    Have no clue about suspension got my first full sus bike this year ‘23 marin alpine train XR , second ride was my first enduro race, done more enduro races than rides since april 😂😂but i have this fork and i just leave it alll open. I have no idea what its supposed to be like but have lost traction in the front coming out of berms a few times… watching you play with setting is inspiring! Man imma move the levers and ? Maybe get a stiffer spring it does feel a bit off but i can’t describe it , i thought just heavy af and not my normal 26” x 2.1 wheels.. but perhaps i need a stiffer spring ! My 1989 rockhopper is rigid 24 pounds and was under $100 and thats what my minds used to 😂😂😂😂

      I’d say you want a spring that gets you 30-33% seated sag at the rear, and 18-23% in the front, rolling in a balanced attack position. You may want a little compression for control up front, but focus on getting the spring rate adequate first, and alter rebound back and forth to liven up or calm the bike at different spring rates

      @@mtbtelly5522 Cheers i think im closer to 30% sag in the front !! I cant explain how it feels but my hand movement isnt fully connected to what happens with the wheel compared to a rigid situation. Will play !! cheers

      @tonkshred definitely get the front a little stiffer, that will give you more confidence and control up front

    My mate just got into MTB and bought the Marine Alpine XR on my recommendation (3k on sale). I didn’t realize until after he bought it that it came with the coil, not air. After watching this I’m not too worried, sounds like he will need that stiffer spring at about 80kg rider weight. Did you just buy the fork because it’s on sale now?

      Yep, I saw it on sale and couldn’t say no.

    Is the z1 in 170mm? I jave heard these get super progressive because of air gettjng trapped in thre lowers. Seems like you liked yours though

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah no problems with progression or air build up yet. That was a 38 degree day as well so everything was hot and expanding, with damping oils thinning out somewhat compared to a 25degree day

      @@mtbtelly5522 I have a 36 rhythm with grip damper. I really like that damper. I run it about 230 position same as you. I think it's the sweet spot

      @@ashkonsenaati8530 i’ve just ordered a grip2 damper to put in. I’m curious to see if I can improve the rebound stroke, the compression damping feels good
