- Traveling to Adelaide (South Australia) and wanting to try some of the best Mountain biking trails 20 minutes from Adelaide city? Don't like climbing? Lucky we have the closest thing to a chair lift... The Belair line of Adelaide Metro Train network.
Here is a guide on how to use the Belair Line to get access to: Randell Park Trails; Lynton Reserve Trails; O’Deas Reserve, Saddle Hill Reserve and Ashby Reserve Trails; Blackwood Hill Reserve and even Shepherds Hill Recreation Park. All sanctioned legal trails as part of the Mitcham City Council Trail Network!

One thing you forgot was DO NOT go anywhere near that Hungry Jacks. The amount of bikes stolen from there is outrageous, there is probably one post a week regarding it.
Thank you for sharing. I was riding with a couple of blokes at Fox Creek a few weeks ago and they suggested carrying a lock if you’re planning to park your bike in the area. They alleged 8 bikes had been stolen from the area over the school holiday period (?2 weeks)! I have pinned your comment for other riders, thanks for the advice on keeping everyone's bike safe!
@@GasFlow1 Yeah there were 8 bikes stolen from hungry jacks in the last school holidays. All kids that just ran in to get a drink and there bikes got pinched. All the same thieves as well. If you guys are riding belair especially in the school holidays use a lock!

Golden rule of riding / cycling, never leave your bike unlocked or unattended for even 30 seconds, live and learn, better to ride in pairs so one can watch the bike whilst the other goes into the shop.
I know all the tracks and the train lines off by heart but I still watched this because it was entertaining.

Brilliant video @gas & flow! I'm originally from Adelaide but now live in Whistler (yeah, horrible life I lead :p ), and when I come back to SA for a visit I always bring my bike. For ages I was trying to figure out how to use the train in conjunction with riding the trains. So this video is PERFECT! I've bookmarked it. Thanks for making it.

Thank you for watching. 10 years ago the scene was certainly different- enduro didn't exist in Australia, Freeride was king and I would admire the guys crushing the Belair trails on the bike of choice… a Kona Stinky! All great memories- Glad you liked it, and I hope you’re still riding.

Oh cool, I’ve wondered! Way different than I thought it would be
It's a pretty boring video, but thought I should make a guide for first timers to Belair. I found it daunting when I started, but there are always plenty of other riders who are happy to guide you. I started using the trains to shuttle in belair 15+ years ago- lots has changed but formalisation of the trail network has been great for riders… and there are potentially even more legal trails planned in the near future!
I’ll have to do it one day and this video will definitely be a reference. I’m 2 hours away. Haha I know what you mean by daunting I’d have to research the general area a bit. I’ve been to shepherds once. Going to fox tomorrow!
Am visiting Adelaide and sneaking in some MTB, was thinking Fox Creek or Eagle Park but this looks like fun!
Thanks for watching Kev- there are plenty of places to ride while you are in Adelaide. Unfortunately Fox Creek was one of the locations involved in our recent bush fires- so it currently closed to the public. Eagle Park is good, plenty of rocky single trail to explore through the old quarry- alternatively check out adelaidemtbtrails.com/ for other places to ride. Also consider O'Halloran Hill recreation park (which is not on the website above), particularly if you are based on the south side of Adelaide. Let me know if you need any other advice on where to go.

If you get off at Blair head down James road onto andos assuming you don't stop at the top or bottom and continue on to Torrens Park train station you should be able to then fit in two more runs within that first 2 hours

You should have gone from Mitcham roundabout where the cemetery is around the roundabout and down Muggs hill road onto Princess rd then down to the station. I was doing the same thing with my friends back in the early 80s
