We asked for it and Walther has delivered: the Walther CCP M2 has updated the original with a new, no-tools-required takedown method.
Now this compact, polymer-framed, single-stack, striker-fired 9mm handgun is viable choice for many more gun owners.
Here’s a first look at the updated pistol, with a review forthcoming.

Great video! Would you recommend the CCP M2 or the SW M&P 9mm shield EZ? I’m looking to purchase my first ccw and having a hard time deciding between the two. I’ve done lots of research and have even gone to look at them both in person. I’m hearing somewhat mixed reviews about the CCP and somewhat higher praises about the S&W. The one thing that is pushing me more toward the S&W is it seems to be more customizable. Which I would be looking into doing later down the road. Either way it’s for protection and I just need a little help making my decision. Much appreciated!!

Well I hate to say this right here on the CCP M2 review, but if I have to choose one, I have to recommend the Shield 9 EZ, and I'll tell you why:
They're roughly the same size. The EZ is just a tad longer, but the difference is minor. The CCP might conceal slightly easier in an appendix carry, but only slightly. The EZ has a slightly longer sight radius. The height, an important measure, is almost the same. And the grippability of the two is about the same. So I consider them equal sized guns for practical purposes. (Though the EZ is a narrower gun overall.)
Despite the CCP having the more ergonomic grip in my opinion, I think the EZ is overall superior ergonomically. It has a very comfortable grip in its own right, it has the easier to manipulate slide, a better trigger, better sights, and the option to have or to omit the frame-mounted manual safety. I prefer its field-stripping procedure and its slide release (being more out of the way of my thumb).
As for reliability, both manufacturers make excellent firearms, but I've had more reliable function specifically on that slide-lock issue with the EZ.
The CCP seems to be less expensive at most resellers at this time, maybe by about $40, but a few years from now you probably won't remember that $40, and the value upgrades are there on the EZ. What I can't recall for absolute sure is how many mags each comes with, but I believe they both come with 2.
So to sum it up, I think the CCP M2 is a good pistol, but I consider the EZ a really top-tier, dare I say Hall of Fame firearm.

Precision Gun Reviews - PGR thank you so much for your insight! I think I’ll be going with the EZ!
