If you want Jimmy, the owner would gladly sell it to you or anybody else for the $250;000 he paid for it and eat the $25,000 he spent to have it disassembled and readied for transport then trucked to Florida. Honestly I bet he’d take $200,000 just to be rid of the thing. It’s an albatross at this point, it can never legally fly in the USA again and would cost a minimum of 5.5 million to make it able to fly at all, which could only legally be done in airspace outside the USA, Canada, or any of the EU. Even to just restore it to a static display / museum piece would require gutting the entire interior (which is where Elvis actually sat) because it is a health hazard. You can’t clean rodent feces and urine from fabric or porous surfaces and it’s very hazardous to human health. I’m a fan of Jimmy (the owner)) because he saves old airplanes and fixes them up….this one was just too far gone. I do agree “chop shop” Bruce Wilson posting this was in bad taste though

Pretty cool project and find. However looking at this plane reminds me why I buy things like this by the pound. Scrap aluminum is at 0.30/pound and the Lockheed Jetstar weighs 24750 empty so $7425 is more than fair considering the engines were missing, the plane is in bad shape, some expensive electronics are gone and it wasn't the only plane belonging to Elvis. But then I am not an Elvis fanatic but I still would have tried to keep it as intact as possible for a static display. However, I have restored many things myself including wooden sailboats, the last of which I paid the amount equivalent to the value of the loose ballast under the floor boards.
No disrespect, but trying to figure out the relevancy of your comment. It has already been said that Jimmy plans to retrofit the cockpit and cabin area to either a RV or perhaps a bed and breakfast. The rest of the plane is going to be sold to collectors of Elvis memorabilia. He plans to sell very small sections (thinking perhaps 1" X 1") of the Skin in of the remaining plane to Elvis fans. None of it is going to be sold as scrap metal that I have ever heard following this whole project. He could easily net 100 times the scrap price selling 1 oz pieces to fans for $20 (Guess) to fund the main project. The entire plane structure/frame was totally unsafe due to corrosion so absolutely not safe to ever fly again obviously, and I would bet the cost to have it moved intact would have been far more than he would ever recoup to set it as a static display. The man has already invested close to a quarter million into just buying the plane before he ever cut it up in sections to haul it to this location. It was a well known auction as well so hardy a "Find" either? There was quite a few bidders and the price went up faster than anyone ever thought for buying it for scrap. Just a tad confused unless you haven't seen the story from the beginning and all other posts from all RUclipsrs that tried to buy or have documented on Jimmy's channel and others.
@@repaid1 you are absolutely correct and I did watch the video but of course I was stating the obvious that it wasn't really a good deal for the average person. That was the least of the problems as the newer revision of the engines to meet noise restrictions would have solve that issue. Figured this JetStar would be heading to the scrap yard or a museum as is due to the shear cost to get it airworthy let alone the fact that it would be illegal to fly if they used the original engines. interested to see what will become of it.

@@thetechgenie7374 That Aircraft isn't structurally sound enough for Engines. To make it Remotely Airworthy. It will cost No LESS than $2 Million dollars. That Aircraft hasn't flown in over 35 years. It has been Rotting in the desert.
@@curtekstrom9531 Exactly that why I stated engines are the least of his concerns.
@@curtekstrom9531 He did a video. It's not possible. If it was. Costs would exceed 5 million.
@@TheAtomicBurrito81 it was obvious just looking that it would require millions and years to restore and recertify it. I think this was Jimmys plan all along. He must've known
I 💙 the ELVIS JET LIMO IDEA!!! I hate to think of this being just a hunka hunk of shit....where is a Pimp my Jet show when you need one. Thanks to the guys who saved it 4 taking care of business!!!
When you said, "this is probably a long boring video for folks at home watching, but it's really nerve-wracking for me" I yelled at my screen! I've never been so worried about so much for so long in my life than I was watching you guys pull off this most sketchy maneuver. No telling when my fingernails may grow back.
we're thinking the same as you. Cutting with no eye protection, knocking bird and rat shit off the ladder and insides no mask when they needed respirators, no lanyard s when in the lift ,no double strapping .There so lucky..He paid way to much for that plane .He could have gotten a small jet that flys for that price ,with no headaches.Well it is Elvis, so anything can happen for the good... good luck jimmy
Like what are you going to do with that thing. Lot of money to see it rot with tons of money invented
Waste of money. How many people can you feed with that . What a pos piece of history
Thank you for this covetage!
I would have never guessed this would have happened in a heartbeat.
Elvis Was The King Of Rock 'N' Roll
I can't believe this guy destroyed a piece of history what a shame. This is something that can never be replaced! Shame on him!
Elvis jet air bnb is actually a great idea. You could make a killing doing that!
Figured this JetStar would be heading to the scrap yard or a museum as is due to the shear cost to get it airworthy let alone the fact that it would be illegal to fly if they used the original engines. interested to see what will become of it.
They said he's selling pieces off of it
Jimmy is going to make millions from the Elvis jet!
He knows what he's doing....
@@straybullitt I kinda doubt he'll make a profit. He'll be lucky to sell enough scrap off that "fugitive from a junkyard" to break even, and I think that's even a stretch. But we'll see. I've been watching that thing sit just a few miles from my home for many, many years and when I toured the inside of it many years ago I said "that thing isn't even worth restoring. It will never fly again." Guess that was a perfect prediction.
@@spydie These comment sections are brilliant entertainment laughing at all the know nothing's going on and on about how easy it can be restored to flying condition.
@@bobbyrayofthefamilysmith24 yes, especially your hilarious uneducated comment! ha ha
