I missed the days when Luis uploaded lots of cube. It's the format and the one content creator that stills keeps me interested in a game I spent over 20 years loving.
@@ordina3010 Caleb's cube was on MTGO for a while, so definitely an intelligent and skilled enough cuber to warrant Wizards putting his specific cube out to be able to play
Every time I watch LSV draft the cube I feel like I learn something new. There needs to be a sweepstakes channelfireball does with LSVs blessing to have a cube draft with members of CFB.
Figured it out that last game just as you had chosen your targets. Instant regrets, but a mountain of knowledge gained every time I watch you draft VCube. Thanks for the GG LSV!
“Karn liberated, great I cube! Alright grand ma let’s get you to bed” -lsv I should start saying this whenever someone recommends me a bad card to add to my cube lol
I'm not sure if this bothers anyone else but personally I wish CFB would not spoil in the thumbnail/title the strategy or key cards that are being drafted in the video. One of my favorite parts of watching a draft is seeing if my picks line up with the drafter, which is almost completely spoiled by knowing what's gonna happen at the start of the video.
im not sure why you would even consider another option than Mana Leak vs Consecrated Sphinx. trade a low value card for a high value card? seems like a no brainer? 1:14:41
Gatecrash and Dragon's Maze were significantly better than RTR IMO. RTR was "force Rakdos or you lose to Rakdos." Boros was ridiculous in GTC, though. Once you had battalion up, the game was basically over. There were some neat archetypes though.
how do you learn to draft a cube, or more specifically a vintage one? i follow LSV on LR and others limited content creators but I feel cubes are so different from traditional limited
Each cube is different so it's kind of hard but in general it's good to read up on the archetypes that are available in the cube, much like the various archetypes in a limited format. The creators usually have a design guide of what archetypes are in it. Videos like this are great to get some ideas of sample decklists, although LSV doesn't often play some of the aggro formats like monored. NGL figuring it out as you go is part of the process. Even very experienced cubers and drafters know that it's not always guaranteed wins. Cube is great because if you're having fun with it you're winning, the stakes could not be lower.
One thing I'll also say is that maintaining a vintage cube shouldn't be expensive. If you don't have the money pretty much anyone will be fine playing a proxy cube. If you want to play official cards, pauper (commons only) or peasant/artisan (common/uncommon) cubes are super fun to play even though they aren't as wild as vintage.
Worst draft formats for me were: 3) Return to Ravnica 2) Theros 1) Saviors of Kamigawa RTR was all fucked with how good Rakdos was. Pack Rat is an abomination. I forget the exact math on it, but you could play a deck with 39 Swamps and Pack Rat, mulligan until you found the Rat, and still have a really high chance of winning. Golgari required you to open up a strong rare that wasn't just Abrupt Decay or Deathrite Shaman. Izzet was fighting Rakdos over splash cards. Azorius was only playable if you happened to be the one person drafting it. Theros was just miserable with Bestow. Removal wasn't good, and if your removal was good, it still wasn't good enough. You can't set up any 2-for-1s, which makes games come to a crawl. Saviors of Kamigawa just had no synergy. You needed legendary creatures to do anything, but almost all the legendary creatures were rare. You needed to have a large hand to activate certain abilities, but there really any way to draw cards. It was even worse if you're playing SOK with the rest of the block and someone opens up a Jitte. Best draft formats? 3) Dominaria 2) Unhinged 1) Modern Masters I loved how many archetypes were available in Dominaria. It also felt good being able to play bomb after bomb. I know it wasn't everyone's favorite, but I loved how I felt like I was playing a completely different deck every draft. Unhinged was just a blast. R&D learned a lot from Unglued. It had a lot of cool throwbacks, hilarious interactions, and fun games. The fact you could Channel + Fireball someone was even better. Modern Masters had so many good archetypes. Not to mention, the common and uncommons were Constructed staples. Every pick felt important. I spent way more money than I intended to when this set came out. Also a shout out to Khans block because of the janky 5-color decks filled with goodstuff. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I thought the "just pick lands and then build a deck out of whatever non-lands you have" was fun.
HUGE FUCKING PUNT ALERT. At 1:20:29 LSV forgets his Venser has a +1 +1 counter on it and is a 3/3 and thus can kill Dack (which has 3 loyalty counters on it) by itself and swings a goblin token at the Dack as well thereby missing a point of damage. I am a better player than LSV because I caught this mistake 7 months after the game was played on youtube whilst sitting in my underwear and eating a carton of ice cream at 3:30 am.
Shelldock got a lot worst. Cube got a lot faster. A lot of games are decided by turn 3-5. Literally almost every game went to turn 10+ or below 20 in deck.
Mox over triome? I know moxen are broken but you prioritised the fetches so high that I am suprised you took a mox over a card that activated your 1,2 and 3 picks and gave you perfect mana
Sorry to bother you. I have come into a problem with a play in end of turn. If i play a card that triggers on end of turn durning my opponents end of turn. Does it last to my end of turn??
Depends what the card says. If you play it at the end of your opponents turn and the card says until the next end step, it would be your next end step.
Decks looked great through pack one but the on and on about Field of the Dead and top cut of an obscure event from the year who gives an F… there are more enjoyable creators. Be well.
I am a simple man. LSV and Vintage Cube, I am gonna watch 100% of the time.
Im down to clown, watched ALL LSV RUclips drafts of vintage from The last 7 years or More. Wild Mongrels FTW
I missed the days when Luis uploaded lots of cube. It's the format and the one content creator that stills keeps me interested in a game I spent over 20 years loving.
Relatable. I quit, but I still watch LSV.
Try CalebGannon. He's a quality cuber.
i agree. but fortunately lsv is a pro player, not a content creator

"alchemy is an abomination, and I will not participate" PREACH!
Alchemy is awesome!!!
I come here for the sick LSV draft+gameplay, wich is always amazing, and I stay for his chat interaction; Such a fine dude.
28:32 “OOooohoohoo spell pierce that anus” my new favorite lsv quote
Figured it out that last game just as you had chosen your targets. Instant regrets, but a mountain of knowledge gained every time I watch you draft VCube. Thanks for the GG LSV!
This is exactly what I was wanting. More LSV

Come on Channelfireball, more LSV vintage draft videos!
Fairies was a fun deck to beat. I was playing T3 Progenitus to beat them and boy was it fun.
Came for the gameplay, stayed for the interesting conversation on drafting formats

I see your point, but I see LSV and a control deck I click.
Thank you.
@@tdfowler79 Haha, I mean I see LSV anything and I click 😂
Amazing gameplay. This is why LSV.
I am a complicated man. LSV and vintage cube I am going to watch 100 % of the time.
Those are the best videos on the channel
Interesting to watch you draft vs Kenji and other drafters.
yea that punt game 2 in the last match
im not sure why you would even consider another option than Mana Leak vs Consecrated Sphinx. trade a low value card for a high value card? seems like a no brainer? 1:14:41
Well like he said in the video. He was considering using Fow to keep his mana open so he could deploy the Emperor and contest the board more.
always the best. the true goat of mtg
When I went Boros during Gatecrash or Dragon’s Maze, I didn’t lose a single match for those six months.
Gatecrash and Dragon's Maze were significantly better than RTR IMO. RTR was "force Rakdos or you lose to Rakdos." Boros was ridiculous in GTC, though. Once you had battalion up, the game was basically over. There were some neat archetypes though.
I would have taken dimir signet probably over pierce but definitely would have taken time twister
would have loved seeing P1 Grist followed by P2 Braids
lsv is really good at magic
28:29, oooh ahhh ahhhhhh
How Can i become on to your live chat?
I could never bring myself to draft the kiki combo and then not play it
I know I’m in the minority but I loved Avacyn Restored draft. Most likely since it was my first limited format
Current modern is so much more miserable than what punishing fire would do

Just play a bunch and you'll pick it up.
Cards that never should have been made... Alternate win conditions
Does anyone prefer having all new borders as opposed to certain cards having old border / new mix?
I like all og personally, but yes!
Outplayed by Caroline.
