Mmhm. Fun for the memes, but bringing that in against blue-white control makes no sense. Sure, they can't bolt you, but they can absolutely sit back and counter/swords threats while Bob provides their pressure. I actually like Hex/Depths vs that deck, because Marit Lage could bait out removal and clear the way for an animate target, or vice-versa.
I absolutely think Bob is not a meme and 100% worth siding in here. As he mentioned there were 4 hits that really hurt him in his deck and as much as he was playing up the pain, realistically it needed to hit 2 of those 4 cards to really put him in the position he was. Just 1 and the extra card advantage probably wins him the game. With the cards he drew and in the order he drew them in there's a solid chance he does win this game without the 2 extra cards in his hand, but that's far from the average result here. I also think that people like to forget that some of Bob's early Pro Tour success involved playing 4 copies in a deck and also playing 4 Greater Gargadon.
I feel like it's due to it being released with the one ring and Bowmasters. People are so focused on the strength of these two cards and never really noticed how strong Palantir is
@@armin3582 that's fair... My line of thinking was that people should be a bit more familiar with it as a newer card from a set I feel had a decent amount of attention, but you're right that a lot of that is just attention on the One Ring and Bowmasters.
LSV talking about 64 player draft having a lower skill floor made me think about my last draft. I'm an OK drafter but I was sweating as the last few people joined and I noticed Tom Martell join the queue
I wonder why your first round opponent didn’t discard their Woodfall Primus to Survival in response to Exhume? Not that it’s doing much but at least they blow up a land on the way in, and one more when they sac it to the Archon trigger. That might not be enough to get them back in the game, but it’s better than doing nothing
I wonder if there is a case to be made to take the Urborg and try to wheel the Bazar since he would be the only person at the table that would be likely to take it. Then again a Bazar is at it's peak in this deck so I suppose it may be not worth risking regardless.
I agree with almost all of LSVs picks except for Smugglers Copter and maybe someone can explain the pick, because in reanimator I feel like you're not going to have very many small creatures that are capable of crewing it. Am I undervaluing Copter in this style of deck?
The opponent didn’t do it, but at 40:00 you didn’t consider that the opponent could have discarded something big using Oona’s prowler in response to exhume. Though it would have been forced to sacrifice to archon, something with a good etb/leaves trigger could have gotten you.
Yeah I was thinking that too. Think that LSV might've missed it too since he didn't mention it and didn't seem too concerned with casting Exhume into SoF with 3 open mana . Probably just a mutual blind spot.
It's a great feeling when your strat is open and almost all the cards you want wheel. I drafted my friend's vintage cube a few days ago, P1P1 Bitterblossom P1P2 Cranial Plating, and my Black splash blue Affinity deck just steamrolled everyone. Etched Champion, Thought Monitor, Nettlecyst, Arcbound Ravager... I just got it all
2:38 why is eagles so much worse? is the creature being worse really that big of a deal? or is it just white being the color least interested in the effect?
It's a combination of those things. For what it's worth, as somebody who loves white weenie in cube, I would certainly play eagles in my white aggro decks sometimes, but I wouldn't ever really be excited about it, and would leave it out of some decks. It seems okay in some of the decks which go a little bit wider and have mana crypt or sol ring or some way to get it out a little ahead of schedule, but it's just not a card that you're interested in for something like u/w control, and those are the decks that tend to appreciate land cyclers a lot more generally.
Wow, what an insane deck. And I can totally echo your sentiment that random pods drastically underdraft Reanimator. Lol, your opponent discarding Primus to the Archon trigger was certainly unexpected.. You know, since you just resolved an Exhume against their Survival of the Fittest and open mana (which I think was maybe a risky move on your part; as they could just activate it twice and get whatever their biggest threat in their deck into play AND if they have Endurance in their deck even just really blow you out).
Surely deluge being cast at the optimun time would have likey won both games? But the card was dismissed. It kills snap kitten in 1st game and snap bob in second. Then the grasp can get collanade
Putting bob in your reanimate deck, that is brave. When you have such a nuts deck it seems like it isn’t worth adding the extra variance to make your deck maybe a little but better on average. Maybe if you play infinite games bob is better on average but when you need to 3-0 bad variance will drop you out.
Agreed. It seemed foolish, his deck was so good already, and Bob is just terrible in the deck, not just because of the 8 drops. You don't want to pay too much life for cards because you need to pay life for your reanimate spells, and if it's griselbrand, you need life to actually use it. Yes, LSV was on the wrong end of variance in terms of how much damage he took, but it wasn't that far off. When you have 5 7+ drops in your deck alongside a 6 and a 5, you're expected to lose 6 or more points of life if Bob stays in play for a few turns. The avg mana cost of the deck was 2. If it was just a steady 2 life a turn, it would already be debatable IMO whether that's worth it, though probably ok. However, it's definitely not that. It's very unpredictable and it's not that unlikely to just take 10+ over a couple turns and have multiple spells turned off. In one sense it was satisfying to see LSV get punished for the greed but it was also just kind of tragic to see this deck 1-1.
wait so game 1, you cast exhume and opponent doesnt respond with survival pitch woodfall primus? instead he lets you get archon back and discard woodfall prims?!?!?!? le fooking mao
IMO even in the face of all that white removal you should have played Depths with Hexmage because the Depths "protects" the Hexmage since it gets to replace itself with the Lage in response and you make them use both removals.
Found this a long time ago on Reddit. Make so much sense: Magic is all about mediocre, aspie-type minds looking at life entirely through the lens of EV, and confusing that with being a genius. If you can get away with cheating, you just do it. In life or the game. You're an idiot if you don't. It's simply +EV. Just like when LSV was cheating on this crazy leftist wife with Gaby. Charisma-lacking incel? Put on a dress like Sam Black did. You're now a brave lesbian drowning in white knights.
The second he cast Bob, I said, “oh, that’s gonna kill him.”
Mmhm. Fun for the memes, but bringing that in against blue-white control makes no sense. Sure, they can't bolt you, but they can absolutely sit back and counter/swords threats while Bob provides their pressure.

LSV competing with himself for views, brutal
Double the content tho
He knows we're all gonna watch both anyway.
Definitely watching both.
Dont you dare discourage him from posting multiple drafts a day. How dare you
Wish there was a way to have it filter CFB recommendations to notify when they post LSV videos specifically lol
Of all the picks, I find it hard to believe Palantir wheeled so late...I am more and more impressed each time I play that card.
I feel like it's due to it being released with the one ring and Bowmasters. People are so focused on the strength of these two cards and never really noticed how strong Palantir is

palantir is often a better library of alexandria (basically 100% to be better than library if you draw it after turn 2.) Severely underrated.
LSV talking about 64 player draft having a lower skill floor made me think about my last draft. I'm an OK drafter but I was sweating as the last few people joined and I noticed Tom Martell join the queue

I think it was just a mistake
Sometimes your opponent is just really bad lol
Yeah I even think it was a mistake for Luis to cast the exhume there because of that, just use the animate dead and be safe.
Came here to say exactly this, I was very wary of the Exhume play with an active Survival
The moment bob came down we all knew how the story ended.
Bob says : “the only man who can defeat me is myself”
I was sad that I already watched my daily cube video in LSV’s channel. BLESS UP.
I wonder if there is a case to be made to take the Urborg and try to wheel the Bazar since he would be the only person at the table that would be likely to take it. Then again a Bazar is at it's peak in this deck so I suppose it may be not worth risking regardless.
2 LSV videos in one day, doesn't get much better
I agree with almost all of LSVs picks except for Smugglers Copter and maybe someone can explain the pick, because in reanimator I feel like you're not going to have very many small creatures that are capable of crewing it. Am I undervaluing Copter in this style of deck?
Now that was a beastly reanimator deck. Wow!
I'm a little confused why our opponent didn't discard the Woodfall Primus to Survival in response to Exhume.
32:15 my real question here isn't why they didn't cast carytid but why they didn't discard in response to exhume
Yessssss. Just refreshed my RUclips to see if there was an LSV cube.
Two of em
Love the thumbnail. When I think Vintage, I think 2 cards printed in 2023, one of them being a 6 mana 6/5 at common.
The opponent didn’t do it, but at 40:00 you didn’t consider that the opponent could have discarded something big using Oona’s prowler in response to exhume. Though it would have been forced to sacrifice to archon, something with a good etb/leaves trigger could have gotten you.
Game 1 why wouldn't they discard the primus to their survival of the fittest in response to exhume?
Yeah I was thinking that too. Think that LSV might've missed it too since he didn't mention it and didn't seem too concerned with casting Exhume into SoF with 3 open mana . Probably just a mutual blind spot.

People in these queues are truly wildin' out sometimes. I recall a time seeing LSV wheel a ragavan.
Damn, bob wasn't kidding. That greatness really was at any cost.
Am I missing something with the green player in round 1? Why did he not discard primus in response to the exhume?
Really nice breakdown how to draft reanimator deck. I am always scare to fully comit because we mostly drafting only 4 people.
Bring back alternating blind pick draft!
Bob going hard in match 2, lol.
Too hard
Will there be the normal queue for vintage cube this year ? Pleeeease
note to self. don't put bob into your deck of eight drops
The second opponent is the exact reason why people hate control players.
2:38 why is eagles so much worse? is the creature being worse really that big of a deal? or is it just white being the color least interested in the effect?

Greatness at any cost! Never check the top - it only hurts your soul to know you were going to get there
Is it correct not to play the Marsh Flats? I'd have thought you might play it just to thin your deck, maybe the shuffle could be useful also.
Classic LSV dying to Bob
He went out doing what he loved
Nice deck!
Putting Bob in his 8-drop deck and complaining when Bob reveals them is peak LSV! 😆
casting Exhume against Survival and neither player noticing I see
Came for this comment, that was wild!
I made it to the top8 draft last night only to get t2 5 mana Forth Erolingus on the draw in m1g3. I got vintage cubed hard
Vintage cube is back? Looks like it’s time to start playing magic for a couple weeks again
There's no way that playing Bob in that deck constituted a serious attempt at winning...
Putting bob in your reanimate deck, that is brave. When you have such a nuts deck it seems like it isn’t worth adding the extra variance to make your deck maybe a little but better on average. Maybe if you play infinite games bob is better on average but when you need to 3-0 bad variance will drop you out.
Yeah, I get his reasoning but I think your take is more correct. This is a 9/10 reanimator deck, which is kind of insane given the lack of power.
Agreed. It seemed foolish, his deck was so good already, and Bob is just terrible in the deck, not just because of the 8 drops. You don't want to pay too much life for cards because you need to pay life for your reanimate spells, and if it's griselbrand, you need life to actually use it. Damn LSV, arms are getting big
Is the vintage cube back on Mtgo again?
I was on this morning and it wasn't up for me... I hope it comes back soon, lost caverns stinks.
It sure is back !! I was in the queue for this 64 lsv was in, but I had to drop...
I dont see this cube on MTGO. Is it old footage?
It was back last night. Is it gone again ?
Would've slammed the urborg, bazaar ALWAYS wheels
nonsense
Greatness at any cost.
Omg 😂 😂 😂 he cast Bob and I saw 15min left on the video... Not a good sign 😅
wait so game 1, you cast exhume and opponent doesnt respond with survival pitch woodfall primus?
instead he lets you get archon back and discard woodfall prims?!?!?!? le fooking mao
Greatness, at any cost.
"Oh, I don't need to know whats in your hand"
Bob is out for blood ... Yours
How did the opponent deal 15 dmg so fast in that last game?
Your laugh at that M1G2 hand ahaha
archon is a dragon but ashen rider is an archon
Who was your opponent? The slow role was infuriating
Ahhh very nice a second video for today
Wait…I just watched my daily LSV
2nd Round Opp: make them play it out in game 2 and they would have lost to their own clock which I think is sure fair to make happen.
You would have 100% wheeled Bazaar if you took Urborg instead, but what do I know, I'm not LSV haha
IMO even in the face of all that white removal you should have played Depths with Hexmage because the Depths "protects" the Hexmage since it gets to replace itself with the Lage in response and you make them use both removals.

One of those games that lsv loses to Bob Maher.
I step away for 5 mins and come back to to an entire reanimation suite. Disgusting
you really get much better cards not playing against pros lol
?????????? The literal nuts reanimator deck? Wtf was that entomb 7th pick or whatever.
Found this a long time ago on Reddit. Make so much sense:

absolutely insane deck
Always play the BOB
Duck yeah love this
It just gets better and better
round 2 opponent playing on a potato 😴
Another nut reanimator deck ruined by the great LSV. The addition of bob was a huge troll
