Thanks BlueRevolution. $14 for a new battery is a deal for such a useful device! Appreciated your calm demeanor and bit o banter while dissembling and then reassembling. One way to consider the poor camera placement that some site herein is that it forces the viewer to more carefully consider and observe their work rather than depending on the answer from the almighty screen! Cheers to a happy 2021!
You did an excellent job of illustrating how to replace your battery in this iPhone model. The only thing is when you were inserting the bottom bracket and/or strip needed, you were not in camera. For me that was one of the most stressing parts that I can’t figure out how to actually take out or put in. Also, I watched a few other videos on this type of battery replacement. I agree with you - you don’t have to remove the brackets, i.e., near the top of the phone.
I just got done with this and you have to have attention to detail and patience. Putting those tiny screws back were a little difficult. A magnetic screwdriver would help. Bought this phone brand new back in the day but mine didn’t come with a metal touch pad cover or battery connector plate. 🤔 Suction cup that came with the battery kit is useless. I carefully used a razor to pry the screen cover off. Removing the old battery with those adhesive was a bit frustrating at times as the sticky elastic tape came apart. Attaching those tiny connectors were a task too. Did save some beer money doing this myself 🍻 Good luck 🍀 DIYers 🤞🏼
You need to redo this. Video angles impossible to see what you’re doing. Btw, there’s a notch just under the screen next to the aux/earphone socket. THAT is where you pry up. I’m glad you didn’t shatter the screen by crowbarring it up around the periphery.
Is there another version of the SE1? On mine the screen and glass lift off over the home button. The home button stays completely in place. The screen is very tightly connected by a very short cable up near the power button. All of the innards are covered by a metal sheet that I cannot figure how to remove. Any links to this version? Anyone? Thanks.
On an original SE you can't remove the battery so easy cos there are 2 double sided adhesives and they are very hard to remove. Try no to bend the battery even lightly, it burns like a firework giving off a substantial amount of heat and an horrible odor.
Indeed! My battery had been replaced twice before. I do it every year now! Original battery will have the strips holding them down. You're supposed to pull on the tab slowly and that should release the adhesive, but that never seems to work! I have bent and scraped the battery before, it doesn't always make trouble, but it's safest to not bend it and be careful with it. :)
@@over1g : I realized too late that the battery should be fully discharged, I bent it very lightly and it burnt ! Per chance I got a rag lying around to cover the flames, I had the fright of my life ! Next, I made an assembly with Leds and resistors to completely drain the battery. Once emptied, I could tear it off without further issue, with tweezers I grabbed the double side and gently pull it outwards. I can't imagine how someone without electronics skills can manage this, it's an adventure. Now, let's see how long will the new one last.
Did this same replacement, but my glue strips ripped before I even pulled them an inch... Had to pry the battery out with a spudger... Now Im left with a torn up battery that I'm pretty sure is about to explode. What to do now?
If you were removing the strips, wouldn't that be the old battery? Some heat to the back of the case may help loosen the adhesive on the pull tabs. -they rip really easily, so it is certainly common to have to destroy the battery to remove it.
I saw somewhere online that it might fry your phone if you don't take the screen connecters off before putting in new battery, is this likely or is this something I shouldn't have to worry about?
just a qustion. the metal cover for the batery plug only have a screw bcs i lost one. and the square shape metal plate above lost one screw....(because i took the whole screen)...so, only has three. but i assemble everything and it works fine. what might happen? its ok this way...i know it is not the ideal but, do i have to worry about? thnks
I think you're unlikely to run into any issues from the couple of missing screws. The connectors snap in and should not have significant forces upon them once everything's assembled. Of course it'd be better if you had them as designed but you're probably OK.
Great video. Appreciate the calm demeanor of the repairman. My tape ripped as soon as I started to pull so I resorted to a video stating to heat the metal encasement with a hair dryer for 30 seconds to soften the glue. Generally worked but took a good 15-20 minute of heating then sliding the tape then reheating and sliding/pushing the tape to finally remove the battery. did encounter a small flame while removing. The battery is surprising as to how pliable it is.

This was great. Thanks alot. Very helpful i had never replaced a battery before and this video was just what i needed.

Thank you Scottie, your comment corroborated what I was thinking.
ken bosco there's no notch on mine... but I have the regular 5 maybe that's why
Ok got the battery from Amazon and here we go. Thanks for the guide.
I appreciate you saying so. Glad it was helpful and good luck!

thanks , sawin tour video was to easy to do it , but my original battery was very strong to pull out
Yes I should have made that more clear. My battery had been replaced so many times, it's not stuck like the original one was!
How much price I phone se battery plz reply me
Appreciate you making a video but I agree with Scottie’s critique.
So I see, I'll make a new video if I have to do another video. I've learned since this one!
how long did it take for your iPhone Se to show battery health?
that is the most unprofessional way of replacing an iphone battery
Not even using the pics? Strange…😎🇬🇧🇬🇧
Did this improve performance?
Surprisingly it did, but only for a little while. I'd recommend a genuine or high quality replacement battery!
@@over1g like the one at best buy?
@@Rice2G I am not familiar with batteries available from Best Buy but I would imagine being a name brand they're likely ok.
Very useful to me thanks

Hey, when replacing the screen from a doner phone like SE, do I need yo relrogram the phone?
Relogram? When swapping another screen, the home button assembly must be swapped to retain Touch ID functionality.
Its only needed when you want to have true tone on your new display
Why did u hold the phone
In your hand . Most of the time we can’t see what your doing. Thanks for showing you don’t need to remove the display.

You need do this on a mat, need get magnetic screwdriver so you dont drop the screws.
Definitely! I have since gotten a better tool kit and a magnetic mat. Just wanted a candid video of a DIY swap, very spur of the moment :)
what is this man doing, he is so unorganized and careless about what he’s doing
pour angle video, a bit rough on the material for a guy who professes of having it done so many times before.
Thank You
some of your work is OUT of the camera view. You can change a battery but can't set your zoom> What???
😺👍🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏻😺
appreciate your intent but you did a poor job with the camera. Almost useless.
thank you
