@2:40 A baronet is not a noble title. So being a plain baronet wont make one a noble or a member of the (British in this case) nobility unless he's also a baron or higher. A baronet is, therefore, not a peer but is addressed as "Lord [Last Name]". A baronetcy is a knighthood so if a man is bestowed the title of baron, he's a knight. Members of nobility are barons to duke with baron as the lowest level. baron, viscount, count/earl, marquess, and duke. From lowest to highest.
A nice short video. Thank you. However, a "baronet" is not a part of the British nobility. It is an inherited title, but not a noble one and did not empower the holder to sit in the House of Lords. Also, a king is addressed as "His Majesty" when discussing him or "Your Majesty" when first addressing him and "Sir" subsequently for the rest of the interactions during that audience. On the other hand, the style "His Royal Highness", commonly referred to as "HRH", is usually reserved for a prince born of the bloodline, and "Her Royal Highness" for princesses born of the bloodline or married to a prince.

born to uncertain parentage in a wild, gold rush town meets a perv and then somehow has 2 million dollars at the time she gets married. Any one else feel like they missed an important part of the story?
Yeah, minor detail. She was made the ward of Horace Carpentier, a wealthy lawyer who sent the first telegraph from CA to D.C. and was first mayor of Oakland.
Her name was "Lady Cunard". She was not called "Lady Emerald Cunard", since this would imply that she was born the daughter of a duke, marquess or earl.
Horace Carpentier did indeed raise several "nieces", A couple actually were (a niece and a great niece.). But, I do not believe the insinuation is warranted. You can argue about the methods he used to make his fortune but, there is no evidence that he was anything less than a true "father figure" to these women. During his lifetime, Horace had several of his friends name their kids either partially or wholly after him. I'd say that is a testament to his character.
Susie English: Yeah, but we take in the ones the royals kick to the curb- Fergie is a great example of one who has her ups and downs in life; we love a good street fighter here, just look at what we elected for a president, that oughta be your first clue. ☺
Lol, I think this actress is better looking than the real Wallis ever was. Mrs. Simpson had a face that looked like it was made of raw, half kneaded dough.
I think the actress is attractive (and your comment is really mean!) but Wallis was not supposed to be pretty or charming, which is why everyone was confused when he gave up the throne for her.
Stuart Lee Why of course though??Cause she dated several men throughout her life? If dating several people in your life meant you were going to have syphillis then almost every woman and man would have syphillis. lol And why are you so happy someone had a disease? 🙄
Imagine chilling at the house of a woman called Lady Emerald having dinner with the king of England and his side chick!
lola bigcups
Awwwwk-WOOORD
A king is addressed as His Majesty, not His Royal Highness.
Who is addresses to as the Royal Highness then
A prince or princess
@@di7209 Other members of the roya family who the Monarch grants the honour to.
In the US ain't so
Its really funny any single person thought Wallace Simpson was ever going to be queen
Well she won in the end. None of the heft of being King and Queen but still have a house and a title.
Wallis Simpson.
BrownRiceBunny1 what are you trying to say
I love how women reinvented themselves, thereby furthering their ambitions in a repressive time.
Why do these end in the middle of the story? And where can I find the video in whole?
MILLION DOLLAR AMERICAN PRINCESSES on the Smithsonian Channel

First thing I thought.
I literally scrolled down to the comment section just to see if anyone else thought so 😂

Ivan Reyes A baron is a peer, however a baronet is not.
Baronets are considered nobility but not members of the peerage. They are referred to as the untitled nobility or otherwise known as the gentry
Baronets are addressed as "Sir" not "Lord"
@@honghongtae9429 Exactly. A baronetcy is a hereditary knighthood.
God bless them. They were married longer then British. Amen 🙏🏻

I Just noticed that the narrator refers to the King as His Royal Highness instead of His Majesty ...
Because he wasn't yet king, soon to be king, she said

This is the exact same video.

“He collected books, and young woman.” That just sounds gross
It's gross if they used 'woman' in the singular, yes.
He sounds like a right old perv!

That's interesting and telling. Maud's nickname was Emerald, but now I wonder if she did it to appear born of a duke.
Please add subtitles in spanish, for better understand. Thank you and congratulations on your videos. Have a nice day.

Americans have never worked out in the royal family
Well there's markle but who knows how that'll work out

no one here cares
is there anywhere we can buy this series?!
Ebreanna Mills amazon
Can't buy if you're from outside the US 😭😭😭
I bought it in RUclips.
Amazing English upper class men who actually like women...
How do we watch the whole program?
These people are pissing me off with these shorts cut short 😡😡😡
Since when is the form of address for a King "His Royal Highness"? I'm fairly certain it's "His Majesty". That's just poor editing.
They were using it when he was "simply" a prince, though.
Yo my name is emerald
Americans digging gold since.. well.. throughout the history
Yes, nobody ever did that before Americans.
If you study your own history, sir, you'll discover that it was your aristocrats who were digging for gold. Ugh.

couldn't they have gotten a better cutest actress to play Wallis Simpson.
Well she wasn't exactly the looker
itz han no she wasn’t but there must have been something special about her 😂
jedi26 jedi26 That actress is not cute
Why? Wallis was hideous. The actress is actually an improvement.
@@jo-vf8jx well I hear she had some talents!
Meghan Markle could probably relate

I kind of doubt she raised her little finger when drinking her wine...

A monarch is to be addressed with "royal majesty" not "royal highness ". It's a simple rule. Americans...
+BlueSwampyCraft "Soon-to-be king". Hence, royal highness.
+BlueSwampyCraft Not only that........the narrator is from the UK, congratulations you played yourself
BlueSwampyCraft His Majesty
Nessa No she sounds American
Jara Elizabeth McGovern was born in England she’s British.
Wallis was a delicate flower compared to that con woman Markle !
