My last name is Howard, I live in New England. The Howard family has lived in Vermont at least since late 1700's. These could be my ancestors.

There is something about those wide open spaces, with the "natural" landscape designed to perfection. I hadn't realized the house took 100 years to build! The art collection there is incredible! I recall a few scenes from Brideshead Revisited, where the actors walked those long halls with statues, and had some hard conversations in the chapel. Thank you for braving the rain for a better look at the grounds. Another great tour!

"The fourth and fifth Earls WOULD fill the house". NO ! Why the conditional ? Try, "The fourth and fifth Earls filled the house .....".
" Guests WOULD have arrived in horse-drawn carriages". If they had been invited ..... is that what the narrator means ?
Pellegini's paintings were not, and are not, "incredible". They are perfectly credible. They are there aren't they ? If the narrator wishes to gush, he could describe them as "superlative" or something similar,(they are not), but certainly not "incredible"
I thank your Simon and Will, nonetheless, for this video. They have shewn me enough to save me from wasting money on a visit. I had my suspicions and they have confirmed that it is, along with everything that Vanbrugh and/or Hawksmoor had anything to do with ..... GROSSLY UGLY .....as is St Paul's Cathedral AND that monstrosity in Oxfordshire. I would rather look up at the ceiling in my local Lidl.

Charles Carlisle was ''A gentleman of the King's bedchamber. The duties of the Lords and Gentleman of the Bedchamber originally consisted of assisting the monarch with dressing, waiting on him when he ate, guarding access to his bedchamber and closet and providing companionship.....and providing companionship. Do you think that these days he would be known as a pimp to royalty? That is a serious question.

Ничего, все продолжается … thanks for this video 🙏🙏🙏

My mom and I were there ten years ago. We only had a few hours available, so we just toured the house and walked around the gardens directly next to the building, but it was very impressive.
(I will admit that my favorite manor house on that trip was actually Dunrobin Castle north of Inverness-it is not quite as imposing as Castle Howard and more charming as a result.)

Thanks for the tour of Castle Howard, I love the purely English style of castles, the architecture, painting, sculpture and engineering structures that the English aristocracy is famous for are impressive. Fantastic garden, the owners had a delicate taste and sense of style, the nature is amazing, these fountains are simply suitable for filming a movie and no scenery is needed. I wish England to cherish all this beauty, this is a memory of history, of those people who created these beautiful castles that we look at and admire. Hello from St.Petersburg. Come, we also have many palaces and something to admire. With a deep sense of gratitude. Thank you sincerely for the pleasure. ❤❤❤❤❤

I enjoyed a beautiful day at Castle Howard many years ago. I was studying at Oxford and took a day trip. The grounds are lovely! They were filming the TV movie The Buccaneers there so we couldn't see much of the Castle interior but the gardens and woodland paths made up for it.

Ah yes, another interesting video, complete with classic English weather! One of my favorite places, although I have to say that I am not fond of statues. But the paintings, and the porcelain china tea sets were very beautiful. I am really looking forward to seeing the seaside town of Whitby! Thank you again! 😊

MEMORY SEEKERS love your videos. My old dad visited England twice he simply loves it. Infact he got me into Masterpiece Theatre, history. I love the foods, Jane Austen (Georgian)and the old Victorian reformer writers(Dickens, Gaskell, George Elliott, etc) I once had a dear Cornish Christian friend who called me a Closet Brit..loved hearing about her dinner parties with the foods, scenery. Beautiful

I look at it and see Brideshead. I read the book, saw the series more than once and see the Flytes living there!
