    Hi Sonya, yes you’re right. I think you can get close enough by doing your own mixing a lot of the time but sometimes you just want to use the original to save time. Dee

      @@doriswhyte1931 I’m glad you agree. I would love to have more of the Schmincke originals, but I enjoy mixing my own versions so I don’t feel like I’m missing out. Thanks Dee!

    I like the fact that - using your own individual pigments - you can have the schmincke as the inspiration/starting point… and then go more r233 or less r233 for example. With the schmincke ready mixed tube you can’t do this. More scope to make more colours.

      @@davejohnson5365 One of my favourite things about the Schmincke paints is that they got me thinking about pigments and their different characteristics. I don’t know that it has made me a better painter but I’d like to think so. I’ve certainly learnt a lot about colour mixing. And yes, I think most of the time I prefer making my own mixes these days, based on what the painting needs.
