Matt did make more in depth videos of the garage including the construction. They're pretty interesting if you're interested in how it all came together.
Love what Matt has done here, saw the first video and not at all surprised to see he's killed it and the place is near capacity and expended, congrats! - Volvo enthusiast and owner of several - I'd store my euro code flat hood 240 down there too haha.
I really respect Matt for using his resources in a way that combines his personal passion with building something for the car community, and pushing the envelope of what is possible. Anyone who thinks this is an easy way to spend a trust fund has never been involved in a design/build project of this magnitude. The scope is truly staggering, combining the most challenging engineering, in the most challenging jurisdiction, very unique use-case... This property sits at the center of the Venn diagram of "Expert Only" commercial real estate development. It's probably easier to build a high-rise in Seattle than to build a luxury car storage facility and club house in LA.
How is engine wear handled on the stackers? Just so I get it, if my car is on the bottom, does this mean that my engine needs to start anytime floors 2-4 is being moved?
Yes. The bottom car is moved first then lift lowered then next car is moved out and so on. They plan ahead as much as they can, I imagine and it has to just be expected that if you store your car there and use it with any regularity that it may have to be started from time to time to get other cars in/out.
No, it’s fine. Who better to look after your car then fellow car guys. If anyone is that radical about worrying how many times their car is started, then they should keep the car in their own private garage lol
@@mike112079 look I agree and in my case I keep mine in a private garage. I was just wondering how this is done, especially with such cars, personally would never have it this way. But I get that the real estate prices in California are high.
Probably filmed with a phone attached to a gimble which keeps the camera horizontal and prevents it from tilting. The change in exposure everytime it was aimed the windows was really annoying too.
Call me stupid, but if someone is 1 or 2 cars deep in the basement. Do the owners of car in front of them need to all come in and move them so that owner can get his car out?
I met Matt at a press event late last year and started chatting with him then. I've written and shot photo and video for a handful of automotive media outlets over the past half decade and decided to start my own. Fortunately for me, Matt was willing to give this tour and help get the ball rolling.
@@MaxRPMs I started writing articles on a free hosted blog site and posting videos about a decade ago. Enjoyed the tour however I'm used to a location we used in Scottsdale in which privacy (no photos of garage contents/owner information/etc) was an expectation, even vetting their potential customers (no tire, ahem.. garage kickers). This fit well with the Principal (Forbes 400 I worked for 20yrs). Saw other facilities morph, eager for more cash flow - offering catered outside parties among the storage (collections). While my TRX daily sits outside and not close to having 'Sunday vehicles' that are stored seasonally, discretion and privacy has merit.
Yes, theft is what will kill this. I had a cleaner scope our building, they came with enclosed trailers when I was on holiday (metal so trackers work). The cleaner disappeared out of the country, he did leave a hand written sorry note explaining he was threatened by the thieves who tied up his family later that year. I recovered some of the cars over time. They had sold one car before they stole it using the old advert pics. But this toasted my insurance now. Most large car collections are hidden and are very obtuse about what is there and when. All the security in the world won't stop someone with the keys.
Totally disagree. The fact that he took probably an hour+ out of his day to give a tour for this guy's new RUclips channel shows how down to earth he actually is.
@@jagtemI see you’ve never listened to his podcast. In the recent one w/ Doug Demuro he was bragging about he and Rob Feretti challenged each other to see who could get a ticket first. Hoping Matt, WCCS and you’re all safe from the Palisades fire. Prayers from Vancouver, BC
Funny you asked about that EG. That caught my eye as well. 👍
I like that they kept it industrial. Some of these new storage facilities look more like a night club than car storage.

What color is the covered GT4RS?
I’d rather run Matt’s business over an auction site or auto app. Great tour, what a facility!
Very nice video.
Happily subscribed and looking forward to your content
loved seeing matts countach in there!
The engine is in Italy being rebuilt...
Where did you see his countach? It's at his other place and in pieces
Half of his is in Italy and the other half is at their second facility. You didn’t see his car.

I want to know what is the most beige, commuter vehicle that is contracted for storage at the garage.

Of course! I'm a big Honda enthusiast myself and I've owned all sorts of stuff from CB7 Accords and an EG Z6 sedan to a Prelude Type SH.

Does Mr. Brooks own the Volvo?
Was the storage venture worth turning fully grey
It’s actually the on-going cost of maintaining his own car collection that turned him gray 😉
His TDS is what caused him to go gray 😂😂😂
Call me stupid, but if someone is 1 or 2 cars deep in the basement. Do the owners of car in front of them need to all come in and move them so that owner can get his car out?
I think his original plan was each “row” was to be the same owner/renter. So it’s moving your own car to get to your other 2 cars.
@ ahh that makes sense now
I need to know who is paying premium rates to store a Volvo 240.
Yellow Scud. Please and thank you.
Why in so.cali would people with big mansions , garages , driveways , car ports be storing for the winter ? 😮😮.
I see you’ve never been to LA. Most people don’t have those things which is why this place exists as a business.
Holy shit, I’d hate to pay the insurance bill on that place.
With all the sprinkler protection, it would help to reduce the risk and lower the rate imo. plus the earthquake certification.👍
