Oddly enough Daniel says the fourth beast will change the law change the festivals and the holy days and that’s exactly what Christians did to the Jewish religion. They high jacked it changed the law gave it new festivals changed the holy days to Sunday and created a new god
Good point....But please remember that Daniel chapters 7-12 were added way later, and that the jews stole other peoples mythology to create their own god and culture; so then we don't need glasses to see that these are man made prophecies

I was one of those Christians that obsessed over the Revelation throughout my high school and early college years. I read all kinds of apologetic books that would explain and define and "prove" how the Revelation would come to pass "soon". I was so ignorant...but so are all those that taught me to believe and feel like that; and those before them, before them, and so on...

People think prophecy stopped. It never did. Each parable has different meanings. There are codes. Each book have several meanings. The end will happen. It would have probably already happened,but Jesus is patient and doesn’t want to loose a single one of us
Honestly it is just human nature to want to find meaning to life and where we come from. I too spend a lot of time studying and praying, but my mind is strong enough to not be taken ahold of an ideology. We are still able to use reason and logic to understand. Sadly I see the vast majority of the Christian community live in fear and terror. I feel sorry for them because I know the feeling but was able to avoid it. The same emotional attachment to the text happened to me when I read the Quran. I have noticed a lot of these religious text are filled with emotional technique. They have the ability to take the reader and change their perspective of life. Something I think about a lot is how Jesus said that the same holy spirit that raised him from the dead is within all those who accept Jesus. He said that we would do more miracles than him. Yet, when looking at our reality our miracles are from science. In the time when we have cellphones around the world, not one miracle has been performed. So like you, I asked the question, why? Either the people who wrote the gospels were great writers or the believers of Jesus have no faith like Peter who walked on water.

The best part of this video for me was tying the writings to the situation and attitudes of the Jewish societies at the time of the writings. It was really eye-opening to see how these weren't just random writings, but a reaction to ongoing events.

I have searched utube, google, and AI without anything close to what he explained. It almost sounds like the Rabbi made it up and it would be helpful to provide some type of link to this story. A lot of the supposed holy books are plagiarized from early and way more ancient writings from the Sumerians, Assyrians, Akkadians and Babylonians. Was it really about God, or something else? Just wondering. Others have different takes.
Maybe it was their attempt to understand the world because when we do that, we always base it on earlier literature that did the same, and over time it turned into stories about god 🤷🏽♀️ what amazes me, is how many people believe wholeheartedly in the bible while completely ignoring all other ancient scriptures including for example, Greek mythology etc, as if all of that writing means nothing. In fact I’ve found that the people who do believe in the bible that way, can never actually have a discussion about it. They can only preach it/repeat it and if you don’t agree, they’ll ignore you as well. They live in a bubble and they make no attempt to see anything outside of it and they’re not encouraged to.
@@autumn5852Well, there’s a lot of writing that predates the Bible. The Sumerian Texts for example. They have the Enuma Elish (The Seven Tablets of Creation), which is Babylonian but the original text is in Akkadian on most likely before that in cuneiform by the Sumerians. There’s also the Vedic writings and so on. The cuneiform tablets which are in the thousands are available for all to read. These describe everything from property deeds to recipes and everything related to a civilized people. There was a great deal of civilization before the Bible. And some of the stories a pretty out there. If you look at the structures around the world, I’ve been to a lot of them. In India for example, they have temples that were not built, but carved, with rooms and relief work. These temples are massive. In Ethiopia, they have churches that were carved, one piece into the ground. In Turkey they have the underground structures that go down deep and sustain the structure above them, the type of engineering required was insane. And then there’s Egypt. Nothing has been more of a physical slap in the face to all that we know, or think we know. When the biggest and best pyramids were supposed to have been built the only metal attributed to humanity was copper. A metal like copper cannot cut granite or diorite, which is even harder. How can we figure out God, when we can’t figure out ourselves. 🤔

The Pyramids in Egypt, of course the ones from the Giza Necropolis, also the Red, the Bent and so on, were not built five thousand years ago, certainly not the Sphinx. No doubt that they may have had work done, but all of those structures are much, much older. What we have now is the remnants of something great that was, but something occurred and we lost it. We might work our way back to it, but I’m not feeling too hopeful, obviously I could be wrong.

I live in Ireland so it's no big deal being an atheist/anti theist here. But I realise that it's a different ball game in the USA. I have been a keen listener of Dr Josh and recently "found " Dr Kipp. I am getting both of Dr Josh's books; The Atheist Handbook to the Old Testament 1 and 2 in the near future. Your channel does a great job of showing the difference between "christian apologists " who twist the narrative. Whereas genuine biblical/ ancient language scholars tell it as is. Jesus makes the wrong priest named in the book of Samuel of who ate the show bread with David. You got added sections. You got the dead coming to life and walking around after Jesus died etc.

My worry about "end times" is that there are a LOT of people who believe in it. My worry is that when one (or many) people focus on a specific outcome, then the tendency is to make whatever their minds believe come into being, even subconsiously. So now we have millions of people on Earth who firmly believe that our world is going to end violently. The problem with this line of thinking is that anything they feel can help this prediction come to fruition will be supported (again, even subconsciously - i.e. it is inevitable). In contrast, anything that can even remotely help prevent this prediction from coming true will be rejected. We will perpetually be striving to fulfill the prophecy...until it actually happens. Those who intpret the Bible literally are very scary people.

I wish the Book of Revelations had not been included in the New Testament; it has caused so much misery. It inspired Thom Harrison’s “Visions of Glory,” which influenced & emboldened criminals like Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow, Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt, and the allegedly criminal acts of the infamous Tim Ballard.
Fun fact: the Eastern (Orthodox) Church excluded it for over four centuries as many Eastern bishops came out and anathematized it early on. It wasn't until the sixth century (when bad shit started happening to Constantinople) that it started gaining acceptance in the East. To this day, it is the ONE book from the NT that is not used in the daily readings or in the Sunday Liturgy. In the West, by contrast, Revelation was always part of the "canon."
This is fantastic and so eye opening. I do have to take issue with your assessment of Jeremiah's 70 year prophecy. The beginning and end dates of the captivity seem to indicate it h lasted 47 years. Considering the exile was phased and the return as well (probably) we should give Jeremiah some squish room, especially considering the significance of the number 70. Jeremiah was pretty darn close. I don't think 22 years was giving any Jews mathematical conniption fits. That aide, your documentary bears a lot of research and thought on my part. Love it!

Pertaining events to the past has several functions. In this case, it was very necessary because the author could show the audience that the predictions of Daniel (the legendary hero) had already been proven. So, people should trust his predictions for the future.

I was one of those Christians that obsessed over the Revelation throughout my high school and early college years. I read all kinds of apologetic books that would explain and define and "prove" how the Revelation would come to pass "soon".

People think prophecy stopped. It never did. Each parable has different meanings. There are codes. Each book have several meanings. The end will happen. It would have probably already happened,but Jesus is patient and doesn’t want to loose a single one of us
Honestly it is just human nature to want to find meaning to life and where we come from. I too spend a lot of time studying and praying, but my mind is strong enough to not be taken ahold of an ideology. We are still able to use reason and logic to understand.
Sadly I see the vast majority of the Christian community live in fear and terror. I feel sorry for them because I know the feeling but was able to avoid it. The same emotional attachment to the text happened to me when I read the Quran.
I have noticed a lot of these religious text are filled with emotional technique. They have the ability to take the reader and change their perspective of life.
Something I think about a lot is how Jesus said that the same holy spirit that raised him from the dead is within all those who accept Jesus. He said that we would do more miracles than him. Yet, when looking at our reality our miracles are from science. In the time when we have cellphones around the world, not one miracle has been performed.
So like you, I asked the question, why? Either the people who wrote the gospels were great writers or the believers of Jesus have no faith like Peter who walked on water.
Revelation already happened long ago, we are living in Satan's "little season" now. We have been deceived, and this video is silly.

The best part of this video for me was tying the writings to the situation and attitudes of the Jewish societies at the time of the writings. It was really eye-opening to see how these weren't just random writings, but a reaction to ongoing events.

A lot of the supposed holy books are plagiarized from early and way more ancient writings from the Sumerians, Assyrians, Akkadians and Babylonians. Was it really about God, or something else? Just wondering. Others have different takes.
Maybe it was their attempt to understand the world because when we do that, we always base it on earlier literature that did the same, and over time it turned into stories about god 🤷🏽♀️ what amazes me, is how many people believe wholeheartedly in the bible while completely ignoring all other ancient scriptures including for example, Greek mythology etc, as if all of that writing means nothing. In fact I’ve found that the people who do believe in the bible that way, can never actually have a discussion about it. They can only preach it/repeat it and if you don’t agree, they’ll ignore you as well. They live in a bubble and they make no attempt to see anything outside of it and they’re not encouraged to.

They have the Enuma Elish (The Seven Tablets of Creation), which is Babylonian but the original text is in Akkadian on most likely before that in cuneiform by the Sumerians. There’s also the Vedic writings and so on. The cuneiform tablets which are in the thousands are available for all to read. These describe everything from property deeds to recipes and everything related to a civilized people. There was a great deal of civilization before the Bible. And some of the stories a pretty out there. If you look at the structures around the world, I’ve been to a lot of them. In India for example, they have temples that were not built, but carved, with rooms and relief work. These temples are massive. In Ethiopia, they have churches that were carved, one piece into the ground. In Turkey they have the underground structures that go down deep and sustain the structure above them, the type of engineering required was insane. And then there’s Egypt. Nothing has been more of a physical slap in the face to all that we know, or think we know. The Pyramids in Egypt, of course the ones from the Giza Necropolis, also the Red, the Bent and so on, were not built five thousand years ago, certainly not the Sphinx. No doubt that they may have had work done, but all of those structures are much, much older. What we have now is the remnants of something great that was, but something occurred and we lost it. We might work our way back to it, but I’m not feeling too hopeful, obviously I could be wrong.

My worry about "end times" is that there are a LOT of people who believe in it. My worry is that when one (or many) people focus on a specific outcome, then the tendency is to make whatever their minds believe come into being, even subconsiously. So now we have millions of people on Earth who firmly believe that our world is going to end violently. The problem with this line of thinking is that anything they feel can help this prediction come to fruition will be supported (again, even subconsciously - i.e. it is inevitable). In contrast, anything that can even remotely help prevent this prediction from coming true will be rejected. We will perpetually be striving to fulfill the prophecy...until it actually happens. Those who intpret the Bible literally are very scary people.

Fun fact: the Eastern (Orthodox) Church excluded it for over four centuries as many Eastern bishops came out and anathematized it early on. It wasn't until the sixth century (when bad shit started happening to Constantinople) that it started gaining acceptance in the East. To this day, it is the ONE book from the NT that is not used in the daily readings or in the Sunday Liturgy. In the West, by contrast, Revelation was always part of the "canon."

This is fantastic and so eye opening. I do have to take issue with your assessment of Jeremiah's 70 year prophecy. The beginning and end dates of the captivity seem to indicate it h lasted 47 years. Considering the exile was phased and the return as well (probably) we should give Jeremiah some squish room, especially considering the significance of the number 70. Jeremiah was pretty darn close. I don't think 22 years was giving any Jews mathematical conniption fits. That aide, your documentary bears a lot of research and thought on my part. Love it!

Pertaining events to the past has several functions. In this case, it was very necessary because the author could show the audience that the predictions of Daniel (the legendary hero) had already been proven. So, people should trust his predictions for the future.
