Hello Josh. Thank you so much for your insights. I have been a fan of your channel for a long time and really learned precious stuff. What if we use the following prompt for task one writing: Task1 of TOEFL integrated writing: I will provide you with an “audio transcript”, a “short reading passage” and “my sample response” of the TOEFL integrated writing task or question one of TOEFL writing. You act as a TOEFL evaluator and score me on a scale of 0 to 5 based on the provided “rubric and criteria”. Sorry to hear that. Templates help you organize your essay and save you time, but they are not the sole thing that helps you get a high score in the writing section. You can not score very high with just an intermediate level of English, even with the best tips and templates. The advanced template is designed for students who continue to struggle to get higher than a 25 and part of the problem might be that their language is too simple, so the advanced template helps a little. In general, though, the most important part of your writing score is your own writing outside the template.

Hi Josh, I heard that some advice to ignore the suggested length (150-225 words) given in the instructions and write around 280-300 words. What do you think about it?
There is no maximum length for your response, but we find that students who write between 250 - 300 words score higher. Of course, you do not have to write this much and you should not if it hurts your grammatical accuracy, but the length is a helpful factor in boosting your overall score.
Hi Josh . My overthinking of the high score will lead me to the negative outcome, may you instruct me how to eliminate it bcz I am about to take the test next month with hoping to get high score especially in writing section
In general, when students are at a lower level of proficiency, I find that TOEFL practice is not the best. Students at lower levels of proficiency should work on the basics of English first. I would suggest investing time in a site like LingQ where you can do some extensive reading that is not connected to the TOEFL, that way you can build your skills and vocabulary with text that is a little bit easier before moving ahead with the TOEFL. www.lingq.com/. Hi Josh, first of all thank you very much for your videos! I got 22/30 in the writing section and is there any chance I can see what mistakes I made? or ETS doesn't allow to do so?
and how many words ideally (or minimum) do we need to have in the first and the second part of the writing section? I can’t find one correct answer, my essays turn out to always have around 150 words
I checked my writing answers in chatgpt by putting correct prompts. For example, I scored around 20-23. Should I consider this score from ChatGPT? I mean do you think chatgpt is working correctly?
On the real TOEFL iBT, your responses will be graded by AI and human graders, so the score might be different. I wouldn't trust the ChatGPT score, but still, it can provide you with a lot of useful feedback.
*DOUBT* Hey Josh!! On July 8 2023, I booked my TOEFL exam slot which will be held on August 4, 2023. So will I get the changed format (2 hours) or the previous one (3 hours) ? I'm confused!!
Yes, eliciting information to answer a question from a test-taker who is desperately looking for a solution to improve the score is nothing but being naughty.
AI is one possible tool to practice TOEFL, but you should not rely on it to craft your answers or fix your mistakes, especially because you will not have it during the test.

Try and record yourself on your phone the first few times for every question and try and analyse where you went wrong. Don’t over analyse on the final day though. Be confident of your preparation.

Thanks for the comment and happy to help :)
I received my scores today. Got 116 (R=28, L=28, S=30, W=30) even though I couldn’t finish my Reading section! I am really happy with the scores and am glad that I found your channel just a few days before my test! The free mock tests helped a lot too. Keep up the good work, Josh!
Hey congratulations
Can you please suggest online study material for TOEFL??
@@JASPREETKAUR-il4lt Thank you. I mainly went through RUclips videos and the free study materials that I found on the description of these videos, including some practice tests.

@@TSTPrep Hi Mr Josh. I watched your videos on the writing section, but there are always situations like this lecturer and speaker disagree each other. Can you make a video about what if they are agree with each other on topic. What should i do in this situation?
@@Tm1996 The lecture ALWAYS opposes the reading passage.
Thank you so much💜 Awesome tip

Thank you josh
Great 👍 ❤
I did the test a few days ago, received 19/30 in writing.
I thought I did quite well and expected at least 25. I followed all the tips and templates and felt very confident in my writing.
It’s really frustrating
What mistakes did you make?
Sorry to hear that. Templates help you organize your essay and save you time, but they are not the sole thing that helps you get a high score in the writing section. You can not score very high with just an intermediate level of English, even with the best tips and templates. You might want to meet with a TOEFL teacher to discuss some of these nuances and learn how you can improve your score. There is a video for the new writing task?

Hi josh
Do you believe the the new enhancement is gonna be easier?
Hi josh @tstprep please does intonation matter in the speaking section?
Thank you for asking and yes, intonation is part of your score. Check out the grading rubric here - www.ets.org/pdfs/toefl/toefl-ibt-speaking-rubrics.pdf

Hi Mr Josh. I watched your videos on the writing section, but there are always situations like this lecturer and speaker disagree each other. Can you make a video about what if they are agree with each other on topic. What should i do in this situation?
The lecture ALWAYS opposes the reading passage. This has been officially confirmed to me by a rep from ETS.
Josh could you please tell me on which exact day of July are the materials of TST are going to be updated? and if this updated version is going to apply to the emergency course? thank u, I need to buy it asap!
The TOEFL Emergency Course has been updated. As for practice tests, they will be updated in the upcoming days.

Can I go by learning your advanced template?🥺
The advanced template is designed for students who continue to struggle to get higher than a 25 and part of the problem might be that their language is too simple, so the advanced template helps a little. In general, though, the most important part of your writing score is your own writing outside the template.
Hi Josh, i'm still preparing for my exam and i want to say that your tips are VERY helpful. Just got a question about ets AI rater for writing (2nd task). Is it the one they use +- to rate our responses on the test day? Thank you

Is "more than two commas in a sentence" alwayas wrong? or there are cases in which we can use them?
Writing more than two commas is usually wrong. However, it is acceptable if you are making a list. For example, "I will buy milk, butter, eggs, cheese, and bread.
hello josh, chatgpt is not available in our country (based in africa), can you recommend us another AI writing website/app?? thank you for reading this.
You can also try an automatic grammar checker like Grammarly - app.grammarly.com/. It can provide you with a lot of useful feedback.
@@TSTPrep is it free?? that would be awesome.
@@kingjurxx9475 Yes, it's free, but there are also some premium plans.

@@TSTPrep Hi Mr Josh. I watched your videos on the writing section, but there are always situations like this lecturer and speaker disagree each other. Can you make a video about what if they are agree with each other on topic. What should i do in this situation?
Hi Josh, I heard that some advice to ignore the suggested length (150-225 words) given in the instructions and write around 280-300 words. What do you think about it?
There is no maximum length for your response, but we find that students who write between 250 - 300 words score higher. Of course, you do not have to write this much and you should not if it hurts your grammatical accuracy, but the length is a helpful factor in boosting your overall score.
Thanks for your reply@@TSTPrep
Hi Josh . My overthinking of the high score will lead me to the negative outcome, may you instruct me how to eliminate it bcz I am about to take the test next month with hoping to get high score especially in writing section
Hi josh
Im really weak in reading.please give me suggestion from where i can do practice and improve my scores please
If you need to talk to a teacher, you could also try a trial lesson at this link and they can give you some pointers - tstprep.com/store/toefl-trial-lesson/
Hi Josh, first of all thank you very much for your videos! I got 22/30 in the writing section and is there any chance I can see what mistakes I made? or ETS doesn't allow to do so?
Unfortunately, ETS does not release this type of information.
Thanks for your reply@@TSTPrep
and how many words ideally (or minimum) do we need to have in the first and the second part of the writing section? I can’t find one correct answer, my essays turn out to always have around 150 words
Hey, from what I hear for the first one an effective response will be 150 to 225 words. The second will be a minimum of 300 words. Hope this helps :)
Helps very much, thanks a lot ☺️🙏
I checked my writing answers in chatgpt by putting correct prompts. For example, I scored around 20-23. Should I consider this score from ChatGPT? I mean do you think chatgpt is working correctly?
On the real TOEFL iBT, your responses will be graded by AI and human graders, so the score might be different. I wouldn't trust the ChatGPT score, but still, it can provide you with a lot of useful feedback.

Hey Josh!!
On July 8 2023, I booked my TOEFL exam slot which will be held on August 4, 2023. So will I get the changed format (2 hours) or the previous one (3 hours) ?
I'm confused!!
You'll get the 2 hours one; The change takes place on any exam after july 26th (including the july 26th ibt exam)
Yes, eliciting information to answer a question from a test-taker who is desperately looking for a solution to improve the score is nothing but being naughty.
AI is one possible tool to practice TOEFL, but you should not rely on it to craft your answers or fix your mistakes, especially because you will not have it during the test.
Thanks for your help today only i compleated my tofel exam..got score lisaning and reading 28/26 wating for speaking and writing
