    I once did a listening where it stated names of 9 artists as examples for different subtopics. And then a question came up where i had to connect subtopics to those names. So I believe, sometimes names and years can be important, so at least note the initials like if it says Van Gogh, Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci, you can note that as "VG, M, LDV" so that you don't get those mixed up when the question comes up.

    • @tomaty3437
      @tomaty3437 3 года назад +12

      @@tugcesabanci8681 For the reading section, make sure you have enough time to review your answers. I typically leave about 15-20min for review/checking
      For listening, jot down the important information in a coherent way so that you don't get confused when using them to answer the questions. I used to scribble everywhere so my notes didn't help me lol
      For Speaking, use the speaking templates because your score won't get deducted. Also try to speak continuously, but avoid repetition.
      For Writing, you should refrain from using templates. Use transition words, and pay attention to the structure.

    I would suggest another way for taking notes for everyone
    for discussion: make a T chart and on one side write i.e. student and on other side advisor ( discussion between student and advisor).
    for lecture: make a T chart and on one side write i.e. major and on other side minor (this is taking major and minor detail of the lecture).

    11:55 I've felt that they do sometimes ask about details and if you've missed that word in the lecture or what it was there for, it might cost you a question. I try to note every new detail mentioned and connect it to the ongoing discussion. Simultaneously taking notes leads to this mistake, so I've been trying to make notes more concise.

    • @TSTPrep

      It depends on whether or not you think it will be important. However, I usually do it out of habit. In general, on the TOEFL, they ask more about ideas than actual specific dates, so they probably will not ask you to recall an exact number.

    • @TSTPrep

      If you take the TOEFL iBT test at a test center, you will get scratch paper for taking notes. For TOEFL Home Edition, you will take notes on a small whiteboard. You will never type notes on a computer.

    Are you allowed to erase notes in between listening sections in home exams?

    • @TSTPrep
      @TSTPrep  3 года назад

      Hi
      koreanwannab ow and yes, you are allowed to erase your notes through the test. That’s why it’s important to have an erasable marker. You cannot have multiple whiteboards or multiple transparency sheets, but you can reuse them as many times as you need during the test.

This is just a guess, though. You might want to meet with one of our tutors for more specific advice - tstprep.com/toefl-store/toefl-trial-lesson

      Hi there and thank you for commenting. Students at lower levels of proficiency should work on the basics of English first. If you don't understand academic passages, you probably should not take the test now. Instead, you should invest your time and money in improving your English level first before moving ahead with the TOEFL.
