    I did the test twice and the second time (January 2024) the lecture didn't contradict the reading passage. The reading provided 3 environmental problems with industries and the lecturer addressed solutions to each problem. So, I have to disagree that the lecture always contradicts the article. In fact, this idea certainly affected my writing score because I had a template in mind and when I saw this difference I didn't know what to do.

    • @aravchauhan9186
      @aravchauhan9186 24 дня назад +1

      u have to improvise sometimes even if the lecturer gave solutions to each problem there was nothing to get confused about , u just had to use some common sense and change the template from "elaborate on how lecturer contradicts " to "how lecturer gave solutions to the problem" u can't get everything on the internet and for free at that and him contributing even this much is great

      If you look at from minute 6:50 this type of integrated writing format is discussed, called problems and solutions. The "problems" and offering "solutions" is another way to say that the listening disagrees with the reading, if you are offering solutions to problems, you are disagreeing with them. I hope that helps to clarify.

    Hey, Josh. Thanks for your videos. I'm loving them. I also wanted to mention that I'm extremely surprised that short sentences are considered detrimental. I'm chilean so I tend to use really long sentences that sound ok in spanish but that english native speakers find really confusing (this exact sentence, for instance, might just have been too long, but I'm not quite sure). I know this question might be too specific, but is there a certain number of words a reasonable sentence should have?

    • @TSTPrep
      @TSTPrep  Месяц назад

      A very good question! No specific number. Also, it is ok to have some short sentences. That is natural. You just don’t want most or all of them to be short.

    Why does he say that is between 200 and 350 word while other says that is between 150 and 225?

      There is no maximum length for your response. According to ETS, your integrated essay needs to be somewhere between 150-225 words. However, we find that students who write between 250 - 350 words score higher. Hope this helps!

    "Is it possible to take a break during the TOEFL test? If the response is yes, does the time keep running while we're paused?"

      Starting July 26, 2023, there is no break on the TOEFL iBT test. In the test center version that's sometimes allowed, but the unscheduled breaks are taken at the cost of the test time. The test doesn’t stop if someone takes a break for whatever reason. However, no breaks are allowed on the TOEFL Home Edition Test.
