Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Rolf Meets Mother and Three Brothers Segment

- Part III Chapter 1 (Laguz and Beorc). I discovered this part by lucky accident when I sent Rolf into the house during the mission to get items, instead he met an unexpected person. I included alternate versions of the scene that happen if Oscar or Boyd go into the house, as well as the conversation between the brothers at base after the battle.
I love this scene for several reasons. 1) it is really relevant to certain people who went through this kind of thing. 2) it's shows Boyd's love for his baby brother. 3) it a character expanding momment which is rare in radiant dawn.
I’m curious what her reaction was when Oscar told his mom to never come back and just go home. I wouldn’t forgive her either, what an abysmal decision to ever make!

I think thats was the one thing they did well i radiant dawn, the info conversaitions that didn't give you any monetary stuff, but lots of character information and lore. They did it in path of radiance too, but not to such a degree that Radiant dawn did. I think they focused more on spicing those base convo's up in an attempt to somewhat makeup for the lack of support convo's, which, in my opinion isn't exactly a fair trade off, but at least it wasn't nothing.

Man... could you imagine what kind of hell someone would go through if Oscar and Boyd found out someone hurt/kidnapped Rolf? Could see those two running an entire group down by themselves just to get him back.

It's so disappointing how so many things and plot details were left out for Radiant Dawn. Good thing they kept this scene though.
It's finally good to see the other side of the coin since it's so basic seeing in fiction the father as the one leaving and being a horrible person only for the heroes to appear later to punish him but even that aside. I love the way it's done here, not only is it mature but also realistic and it really shows each of their personalities really well.
After years of replaying the game over and over, I accidentally came across this conversation I had never seen when I sent Boyd. However, I didn't want to lose the seraph robe, but still wanted to know the conversation that came afterwords in info. Thank you so much for posting this!

+loner1878 if she had a hard time taking care of her kids... she could have still ask for someone's help and giving her ideas how to raise a kid... even when doing that, she should never leave your kid like that lol:/ wow lol... Maybe, maybe not. The responsibility was too hard for her back then, and she truly does seem to regret her decision. If Rolf had been able to forgive her, there might have been a chance to reconcile with Boyd and Oscar. Of course, I doubt Rolf would have left, but he might have been able to reconcile.
However, it was too late. No matter how much she repents, or how deeply she regretted her decision, what she did was truly unforgivable for the three of them. I do feel bad for her in that aspect, but this is pretty much karma at work. She abandoned them to escape responsibilities, and thus the price for that is that her own son and her former adopted children will never want her back.
Axis well... if they gave her a chance and if she is willing to make it up to them, then it's okay lol... speaking of which, if they add this option I would have done it espcially if she joins our group.
Elite Amazon soldier 2 If she was a real character with a name. Seriously, she's just referred to as 'woman'? Come on. And she does seem sincere. I honestly cannot tell if they should or should not forgive her.
I mean, she abandoned them. Boyd and Oscar might have been able to overlook that SOMEWHAT, but they absolutely couldn't handle the idea that she would abandon Rolf of all people, because he was her actual son.
But she showed signs of genuine care and love for each of them when she recognized Boyd and Oscar, and wanted to make up. Wanting to take Rolf might have been because she was afraid that Rolf would be killed. I guess the creators put it there, but even they didn't know whether to forgive her or not, but decided to go for the latter.
I had Boyd visit that house completely unaware of this and I was all like WHAT JUST HAPPENED
Perfect example of why the Tellius Fire Emblems are my favorite games ever!

If one can look past the "Support Conversations" in Radiant Dawn. Hell, Illyana tells Laura she's starving and she responds with: "That's great!". That was a major flaw of the game but it does most other things very well.

They are sub-humans though. That’s the biggest flaw of the Tellius games; you can’t side against them.

Holy... a rare serious Boyd moment? I'm glad I stumbled on this, even if it was a year after I beat the game. Major respects to Oscar for turning down knighthood to be with his family. I wonder what Shinon would think of this since him and Rolf are close in a mentor student kinda way.

Huh, I even used a savestate just to see what the three versions of the conversation were like. I would have left the Robe if I’d known that there was a base convo added...

Boyd and Oscar have the same father and mother. Their mother dies of unknown causes or is missing. Their father marries Rolf's mother. It is unknown whether or not They share the same father or not but what is shown implies that they are not related. Soon, Oscar's and Boyd's Father get sick and Rolf's Mother dotches everyone for someone else. Rolf was abandoned by his mother but Boyd helped him out because he was in the same situation. Oscar abandoned his knighthood in Crimea to take care of them. Sometime later, Oscar would join Greil Mercenaries along with Boyd as a ways to make a livelyhood and shelter.
So to make this not so confusing, Oscar and Boyd share the same father and mother. Their mother dies and his father remarries to Rolf's mother. It is not stated that Rolf is the son of Boyd's and Oscar's father but implied that he is not
It's not implied at any point that Rolf is not related by blood to Oscar and Boyd. It's always stated straight that they share the same father
Its only important if you want to see more character development, but it has no impact on the overall story.
At first I thought all their parents were dead including his mom. And I found out she was alive...

Well basically, Boyd and Oscar are brothers while Rolf is their half brother. Same father, different mother
By literal definitions, yes, but sometimes family members don't see it that way.
Elephant don't listen to the Wiki. When Rolf said "We might not be related", he knows Oscar's and Boyd's Father may not have been his biological father, which would explain the lack of same hair color.

Rolf can get buff in Fe 9. It's the real shit.
@@hoshueyeplopper4465 Rolf is terrible in FE9, really good in FE10. The only thing that goes against him in this game is that Shinon is amazing too and from the start, Rolf need a little push and then he surpasses his master in little time
@@nuredingeziqi679 Rolf is completely overshadowed by shinon, making him almost useless specially with how good everyone else on the greil mercenaries is. You can raise him to be up to par with them but you will still use him very little cause he just does not compare to his pies. Its better to use that exp on Mist. That florete n the horse she gets its amazing.
If trained Rolf is the best archer in the game, as for the Boyd Nolan debate, Boyd caps HP, Str, Skl, Def, and if you BExp him right he will cap spd as well, Nolan caps Mag, Skl, Spd, Lck, Res, with BExp at the right time he should get Def, but i have yet to get a Nolan that caps hp, str, and def without bonus stat dumping
