What a wonderful way to showcase those beautiful pillowcases! As pillow cases they would be hidden away on a bed, in a quilt they can be displayed where everyone can enjoy them! You can do the same for ladies handkerchiefs, tablecloths and napkins, doilies, etc. It is beautiful!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this idea. My mom just brought me some pillowcases that my grandma and aunt embroidered. It’s perfectly fine to cut them up. Make them useful again.😊
Wonderful! I'm so glad I could help. I just found a stack packed away this past weekend... I need to do something with those, too.
Wonderful use of old pillow cases!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed.
I just love this. I Made a full size quilt out of vintage pieces. I Love it and I have preserved 3 generations of hand work.
LOVE this! What an amazing project!
I had the third pillowcase!! I used it til is was very worn. Its in a box somewhere. My grandma made them for all the grandkids.
I have a box of homemade handkerchiefs. Trying to decide what to do with with them. Thank you for great ideas.
Love it! Hope it brought back fun memories. Thanks for watching. :)
I’ve seen vintage linens used in quilts but I love how you have preserved the crocheted edges also. I have many vintage linens from my grandmother and my husband’s. I would like to make a quilt for each of my children incorporating those items! You’ve inspired me to expand on my original idea!❤Thank you for sharing!😊
Thanks so much for watching. Good luck with your project!
I have one of those big Rubbermaid containers full of vintage embroidered linens. I picked them up at yard sales for super cheap. The families didn't wanted them anymore, but eventually I want to make them into a quilt. or two or three. I think those of us that want to do something creative and beautiful without damaging the embroidery is better than what I have seen some do to them. I saw a book where this author seemed to think she was good at embroidery and one of the things that she thought was a bright idea was to embroider on top of the embroidery that was already there and let me tell you, hers didn't improve the vintage piece at all as she covered up lovely embroidery to do her own thing on it and of course her colors that she chose to use didn't make any improvements to the colors already on the piece. I remember my first embroidery piece was a pillowcase and before I ever married, I had two sets of hand embroidered pillowcases in my hope chest.
Love repurposing items to give then another life. Thanks for watching and sharing.
Super cute quilt top from the pillowcases! Love the yellow you added and think pink binding would be charming!! 🩷
I think so too! Thanks for watching
Thanks for this great idea! I have some lovely embroidered cases from both grandmothers, so this would make a great project for those. I have enjoyed the vintage projects very much; excellent content.
Thank you! Thanks for watching
I have drawers of vintage and seems silly to keep stuck away so glad I found you by RUclips suggestion
So glad you like the idea. I quilted this one today!
That is a beautiful outcome for those pillowcases.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your support
Those are beautiful and the best that I can tell the crochet looks like a shell pattern.
They are! Thanks for watching.
adorable!!!
Thanks
Those stained cutoffs can be dyed and/or used for backing on s rap quilts or slow stitch books.
Great Idea! I do love dying fabric, too!
Fray check is earning its worth in this project. Good plan.
Absolutely
Great video I’ve been looking for something to do with all the vintage pillow cases I have from various relatives. Glad for your great tips
Glad it was helpful!
Such a pretty quilt. Even the plain cotton will be nice to use in projects especially if you were going to do add some embroidery as you just don’t get that quality in fabric anymore.
Great idea! Thanks for watching.
Great project so lovely. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much. I really like the result.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. I have some café curtains trimmed in blue c t ochet and cross stitch teapot and cups that I have been wondering what I could with them. I think you found my solution. Thank you.
That is awesome! I'm sure they'll be lovely!
Why not make two-piece project bags? Use the pink/white pieces as smaller bags for scissors, needles, needle threader, etc. This way, when you put a project together, material, fabric, floss in larger bag, and smaller, sometimes more dangerous items in smaller bag.
MIZ! Football season is almost here.
That would be very fun
Sew beautiful. I love it,
Thank you! 😊
I would have liked to see how you sewed in that square corner.
I can do a short video on that somehow... basically you just backstitch in the inner corner 1/4" from the edge and sew both seams. But, that's a great suggestion for a short tutorial. :) Thanks for watching.
@@lorabrinkman thank you I hope I see it when you make it. I currently have clothing in the works bandanna dress, exterior pockets, and a Lutherhol pattern.
Lovely ❤
Thanks

Have you tried hydrogen peroxide to get rid of dried blood stains?
I didn't try too hard, because I had a solution in mind and I knew the stain was really old.. possibly set in.
@@lorabrinkman I’ve been surprised what it gets out instantly but not everything. Worth a try for the experience. I understand you had another way to go. Loved your project.
Please close your rotary cutter after using, each time.....speaking from experience...please close each time.
Thank you for your concern. I keep a very watchful eye.
What kind of sewing machine is this
I use a Juki DX7. I love it.
