30:09 She said she was "Thrown into last week, literally." When she came to Miles' universe, she was also flung a week into the past, hence her being there before the collider went off and caused her and the other Spider-People to come to Miles' universe.
It’s also possible that they ran a test beforehand. In the start, the news was reporting an earthquake from the previous night.
@@nopressure6986 Sure, but it's made explicet that she entered the universe at the same time as the others; all of them being taken to it because Green Goblin put Spider-Man in the collider.
@@nopressure6986 Thewy did a test beforehand. that was when the spider got through. For what reason in-universe do you think it has the number "42"?
@@ElizaArtz Her universe may be ahead in time like Spider-Man 2099's
The "earthquakes" was a collider test, and she´s down in that night
one thing i love is how miles and gwen relationship grows in this movie. he was able to befriend her because not only was he going through something she went to, but also, he never pushed her too far, he always gave her space. when he hit on her, and she turns him down, he moves on, when they talk in the bus and they are becoming friends, he doesnt push her again, he just asks, when you are ready, im here for you. which wins her over.
and finally, when they are saying their goodbyes, he doesnt go in for a kiss, but asking her if she is ready to make friends again(even though she makes it clear in across the spiderverse "intro retelling" that she actually wanted to kiss him herself).
Imagine how inspiring it must be for the people in that office when Miles becomes Spider-Man. They were told Spider-Man is dead, their city's big hero is gone, and then a few days later, they see Spider-Man running along their windows
Without the non-diegetic sound, it’s just quick footsteps they hear in all that city ambience lol
girl just said "Did the spider come from a different universe?" I was like you figured it out
"is the spider from another universe" as someone who watched the across the spiderverse movie my jaw dropped when u said that
Yeah, this is something I'm surprised I never picked up on during all the times I rewatched this film, but it makes perfect sense after seeing ATSV.
@@jhornacek Really?
Is the 1st one when that I realized to see Peter B glitching
@@marianomartinez3008 When I first saw Peter B and the other Spider-people glitching, and they say that it's because they're from another universe, I just never made the connection that the spider must be from another universe too. We see Spidey (Chris Pine) fighting at Alchemax, the spider has Alchemax written on it - I always just assumed this Earth's Alchemax had made it.
18:10 “Spider-man can’t be dead, this is weird”
You’d be surprised how many times Peter or any other spider has died throughout comics, it’s no secret that writers like to ruin Peter in anyway possible lol
Bro never catches a break
And they revive him every 3 months...
8:23 having watched across the spider verse the fact that you even remotely considered that was a pleasant surprise
I always love the touch that during the initial conversation between Miles and Peter B, you can see Peters face and black eye slowly healing each time you see it.
Fast healing is one of Spider-Man's lesser known powers.
@@jonathanross149 eeyup. That and enhanced strength
You look almost exactly like miles’s mother😂❤
Lol
I was just thinking that 😅
I was thinking that too lol you can really see it at 17:52
Bro I was thinking the exact same thing
I was thinking about that too 😂
Spider-Man has died before in the comics. The universe we see in this film is based on Earth-1610 also known as the Ultimate Universe introduced in Ultimate Spider-Man from September 2000 - June 2011 all written by Brian Michael Bendis. As Bendis was really the only writer it kept the same feel throughout it's 160 issues who also focused heavily on background characters and relationships between different characters almost giving it a TV show feel. Also as this was set in it's own universe Bendis was free to take risks and is one of the few examples of a universe that has a beginning and an end for it's characters.
So in 2011 shortly after Peters sixteenth birthday, Peter learned that Norman Osborn and his Six had escaped prison and that they were likely heading toward his family. Peter got into a fight with the Six at Aunt mays home leading to Peter throwing MJ out of harms way, lifting a truck and smashed it onto Osborn. The truck exploded in front of Peter, sending him flying towards a nearby lawn and impacting hard against it. Mary Jane, Johnny, Gwen, and Aunt May all gathered around Peter who then past away. In this fight Electro was shot by Aunt May while Green Goblin died with a smile on his face knowing he killed Spider-Man. Then Miles takes over as Spider-Man until Peter Parker actually returned revealed that the spider that bite Peter was given the Oz formula with the side effect of immortality. He will not age and he cannot be permanently killed. Ultimate Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) also has this ability so he returned as well.
So yeah, Personally this was the perfect ending for Spider-Man in this universe so bringing him back kind of defeated the whole point of the original run of comics. This was also after the Ultimatum comic from 2009 that pretty much killed off a bunch of important Marvel characters when Magneto unleashed a massive wave on New York City killing Dazzler, Beast, Daredevil, Nightcrawler, and Wasp all killed by the wave. This was followed by Wolverine, Angel, Professor X, Blob, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Beast, Juggernaut, Hank Pym, Scarlet Witch, Harry Osborn, Doctor Doom, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Emma Frost, Kingpin, Gambit, and Magneto to name a few all killed in conflicts after the wave hit. More characters died afterwards as well leading up to the 2011 death of Peter Parker so it was a dark time for this universe.
Then you have Secret War where the Multiverse was being destroyed and only Earth-616 (Mainline Marvel Continuity) and Earth-1610 (Ultimate Universe) were left with both Earths about to crash into each other. To try and save themselves hero's from both earths clashed in combat only for a few to escape in a ship while both Earths crashed into each other. Doctor Doom at the last limited secretly created Battleworld which was like a single world made up of regions from different universes. The survivors land on Battle Earth and help take down Doom leading to Molecule Man creating the whole multiverse again with Miles going to Earth-616 alongside the mainline Spider-Man. But it was later revealed that the Ultimate Universe is still alive and now we have the Ultimate Invasion comic series coming which looks to connect the Ultimate Universe with Earth-616 once again.
Great breakdown but I think the goblin is based off ultimate universe but even still this one got wings,
And this Peter Parker had a batcave an it's Mary Jane was grown plus he was blind
Just saying
This Stan Lee cameo really hit hard when the movie first came out. It was right after he had died, and his line added to the feels. “I’m going to miss him.”
I have love for Peter Parker since I was a kid. I didn't think Miles Morales would win me over, but of course he did.
Miles universe is actually the Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610) where Miles as a character first appeared in Ultimate Comics: Fallout #4 (2011). The Ultimate Universe was created in 2000 as a re-imagined and modernized versions of the Marvel superhero's from the main Prime Universe (Earth-616) with both large and small changes starting with Ultimate Spider-Man in the year 2000. Pretty much Marvel wanted to return to the golden age of Marvel starting with a younger cast of it's iconic characters so instead of rebooting everything, Earth-616 has been going since the late 1930s they instead created a whole new universe that would release content alongside the Main Marvel Universe. It also acted as a great introduction for a new generation as there's no having to look through 70+ years of comics just to find a place to start. You could pick up Ultimate Spider-Man and jump right into this new take on Spider-Man set in a fresh universe.
In this film it seems that Miles universe is based on the Ultimate Universe. Some changes you may noticed like the Ultimate Green Goblin who's closer to that of a monster like we see in the Ultimate Universe while in most other universes it's a man in a suit/outfit with a glider. While Peter dying is another aspect that happened in the Ultimate Universe where Miles then took over as Spider-Man and even took part in the Spider-Verse comics where he met Earth-616 Spider-Man and then later in the Secret War comic.
But there are big differences as well such as how Peter and Miles met in the comics and the whole Into the Spider-verse aspect which only happened later once Miles took over as Spider-Man, did not connect to his origin story. Peter is also blonde in this universe which is not the case for the Ultimate comics where he has Brown hair. Miles universe also features spins on pop culture for example the NYPD is called the PDNY (Police Department of New York?) in Miles universe while Coca Cola is called Koca Soda. But for the Ultimate comics they actually featured real brand names along with movies, real actors, and in general alot of real life pop culture references and even nods to DC like a robber wearing a Batman mask. Also the comic book Miles reads in this film funny enough showcases the mainstream Spider-Man from Earth-616 but we can't really comment on the likeness of Peter with Brown hair as the creators of this comic in universe would have no idea what Spider-Man would look like so I guess they just assumed he had Brown hair.
Peter B Parker, Spider-Man who was sucked into Miles universe is from Earth-616 the main comic Universe where everything is alot closer to our universe like brand names for example. From Coca Cola to NYPD these are all the same as our universe. But of course this Peter seems to be inspired by Earth-616 as we can't say for sure if he's actually the mainline Spider-Man from Earth-616 from the comics. On Kingpins computer when they connect to other universes you can see all these designations so Miles is Earth-1610 while Peter B Parker is Earth-616 so this is where im getting all this information from.
But yeah Miles always existed in a separate universe from the Spider-Man of Earth-616 instead he existed in a world with the Ultimate Spider-Man who wasn't that different to the 616 counterpart he was just a little bit shorter in his teens and was active in the 2000s instead of the 1960s. This is the same with a lot of the Ultimate versions of characters like I said reimagined for example Nick Fury is Black in the Ultimate universe bases on Samuel Jackson but White in Earth-616. Pretty much all Spider-Men are based somewhat on the Earth-616 Spider-Man even the movies so they all share many elements from origin story to suit and appearance there's just many different Peter Parkers across infinite universes.
That big guy is Kingpin a classic Spider-Man and Daredevil character who appears in the Daredevil show played by the amazing Vincent D'onofrio. He's always depicted as being pretty big in the comic's made of all muscle but this film did make him a little bigger which I kind of like lol looked pretty funny.
Having a woman rendition of Doc Ock was a fun little surprise. If you look at the Peter B Parker 9Earth-616) intro you can see the metal tentacles so he's used to the classic comic version of the character instead of the woman version in Miles universe. Should point out that the Ultimate Universe does have a Male Doc Ock who actually inspired the character in the Sam Rami films. So this is another example of them making the Ultimate Universe their own instead of pulling 100% from the comics. But of course when you change alot of stuff like this you may of well just make this it's own universe.
"did that spider escape from another universe that somehow got into this universe?"
Well is that just a guess?
He’s uncoordinated lol he’s basically a baby swan through the first 2/3rds of the movie
"Did the spider escape from another universe, come here somehow?" You had no idea how right you were or how relevant that was going to be.
(At 18:10) he's dead and sadly so is the guy at the cash register making his last cameo, Stan Lee.
(At 32:35) I still can't believe they got Nicolas Cage on this movie… as Noir Spider-Man.
This and the new ATSV movie walked into top 5 spiderman movies, easily!
Great reaction, never stop to think that the conversation between peter and MJ at the party was his goodbyes to her, great perspective on the scene. Love your reaction, try reacting to Koe No Katachi someday (or "A Silent Voice"), would love to see your reaction to this movie.
Peter Parker losing his Uncle Ben in any incarnation is tragic, but seeing Miles lose his uncle was especially devastating. Why is losing a family member so pivotal and necessary for a superhero's development?
It may signify that there is a superhero in all of us.
It's a big possibility, but a lot of superheroes have lost family members throughout their journey. Both Superman and Supergirl not only lost their people, but their entire homeworld Krypton. Then Superman lost his Earth father Jonathan Kent. Batman witnessed his parents' murder when he was 10 years old, Spider-Man lost his Uncle Ben Parker. Hulk lost his mother to his abusive father as a child, and Iron Man lost both of his parents in a car accident before he inherited Stark Industries. And while their families didn't die, a lot of members of the X-Men are outcasts from their own families because of their mutant abilities.
When certain events, especially extremely painful ones happen, there really is only two ways to respond. Either a person buckles or becomes resilient. These experiences shape you in one way or the other and hopefully it builds you up to seek the positive meaning of life. In the case of the superheroes, just like real life, the stress of the emotions is what moves them because they are forced to. Perhaps they are motivated to seek justice or to hopefully prevent misfortunate events in others lives, or maybe just to extend a caring hand to uplift someone who is probably feeling hopeless. But there are those who go down the destructive path as well. I think the deeper message here is that everyone has something going on, as much as someone feels isolated, every single person has something there they have to deal with. The choice to come out on top well that is the journey.
That is beautifully profound. And very true, we all have moments in our lives that helped shape who we are. Memories that we covered and memories that we would rather forget. Good decisions and bad decisions that we make in life.
What we choose to do in life determines who we are. One of my favorite anime movie characters has a line that covers this topic: "I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant, it is what we do with the gift of life that makes all the difference".
It's considered a "galvanizing event". It is something that inspires the hero to never give up, despite the odds, no matter how bad it gets.
It's a big part of the Hero's Journey to lose someone influential. It also mimics how people in life are inspired to greatness too
8:22 damn how'd you know
when his dad is driving him to school he says "you've given it 2 weeks miles"
Pay attention to the bagel
Remember the 42 on the spider and it coming from another universe, it's important in "Across the Spiderverse."
42 is Jackie Robinson's number. That's where it came from.
@@mr.b3168 42 is also the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything - from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
@@mr.b3168 I know, it's ALSO IMPORTANT IN ACROSs THE SPIDER-VERSE! One thing can be two different things.
You missed the after credits scene.
Well you asked when does Spider-Man die, so I guess I'll answer. The Spider-Man adaptations people know and love are usually based on the main marvel universe 616. But at a point in time marvel had another universe they released comics for the ultimate marvel universe 1610. Miles Morales was originally created in the ultimate universe and the Miles that now lives and operates in 616 is that same 1610 Miles. Ultimate Spider-Man was originally about the ultimate universe's Peter Parker but much like in this movie he dies and Miles picks up the mantle of Spider-Man in 1610 until that universe is completely destroyed with Miles and sorta his parents (they were overwritten to have always been in 616) as the sole survivors. This movie is a lot more faithful to Miles' true origin story compared to other adaptations.
During Secret Wars when all the multiverses in Marvel were destroyed and Dr Doom had created a conglomerate of sectors of the multiverse into one surviving planet using Molecule Man called Battleworld, Miles brought Molecule Man a Hamburger cuz he was hungry. So when Molecule Man recreated the 616 universe he returned the favour to Miles and brought him and his family back and put them in the 616 universe. Miles also remembers the existence of the Ultimate Universe.
Hickman is bringing back the Ultimate Universe with Ultimate Invasion and Miles will be leading that.
@@bluemarvel3304 I knew Hickman was bringing back ultimate universe. Didn't know Miles would be the lead tho he's really come into his own as a spider-man of 616

Co-incidence I was looking to watch the second one. Thank you, Mr. Wright! ❤
In the PS4 Spider-Man game, the Fisk building is in the exact location the Trump tower is.
Pretty sure the comparison doesn't need to be spelled out
8:19 This guess would've been better if it were made even a few days earlier, before early screenings started.
Marvel Movies almost always have a little bonus after the credits. This one is kind of silly, but also foreshadows The 2nd film.
Okay I've watched other reaction videos, and one point was made saying, why is Gwen in the school before the collider explode for the first time, so im guessing, the collider exploded before and gwen was the first one to arrive at Miles's school
it is Nicolas cage lol
Cool reaction!!
It is Nick Cage as Spider-Man Noir lol
8:19 …

Ima sub u seem cool
Spiderman dying us actually part of miles origin miles is from a different dimension in the comics in his universe Peter Parker was killed and he became that universes Spiderman currently he has joined the main marvel universe (earth616) and fights along side Peter parker
