    I have to post again about this video…. This is the BEST BEST BEST recipe and video for “dressing” I have made some adjustments for my liking… but out all of the videos I have tried from RUclips this is by far my favorite. Soooo amazingly delicious!

    I would have added some poultry seasoning like Bell’s seasoning to the stuffing mix
    And then taste it for the family taste , by adding other ingredients to compensate.

      The sage, rosemary and thyme that she added will give it that same flavor, as that's what gives poultry seasoning its distinct flavor!

    I make dressing similar to this. I’ve found using a combination of sourdough, brioche, and a French bread (like the one in the video) makes the best dressing. It’s a bit expensive, but worth doing.

    Looks wonderful. Is it ok to buy the stuffing bread the grocery store's sell that's already dried & cut up (like Pepperidge farms) & use that instead of buying a whole loaf & slicing it up? I want to make this over the weekend. Just love stuffing & never made my own.

      Try cooking rice inside the turkey instead of traditional stuffing. It turns out really nice and absorbs all the seasoning and flavor of the turkey

    • @Thestayathomechef
      @Thestayathomechef  4 года назад +1

      Hopefully not. You have to dry out your white meat in order for the stuffing to be food safe.

    • @Thestayathomechef
      @Thestayathomechef  4 года назад +2

      I recommend trying it as is before you try and add more seasonings. 3 herbs, salt and pepper, plus onion and cranberries, plus sausage which already has a ton of seasoning in it is already a lot of different points of flavor.

  • @ontariobushcraft536
    @ontariobushcraft536 2 года назад +2

    Browning ground meat isn't just called that because it sounds cool. Actually brown the meat. It's not called greying the meat now is it? Never skip this step and your food will be x1000 better. Put meat in pan. flatten it out. Don't move it until it's been browned on the bottom. I mean it's actually quite simple.

    Can I use fresh cranberries? My wife got the wrong cranberries. How do I use fresh cranberries. I’m frustrated 😖

    • @williamremaley9093
      @williamremaley9093 3 года назад

      My personal take? Don't worry about adding cranberries to the stuffing, it'll be great without it anyway. Use the fresh cranberries your wife got to make a fresh-made cranberry sauce. It's real quick & easy, and so much better than canned stuff. There's lots of YT videos for it. lots of variations, but basically you cook the berries with some sugar & water. You can try dried cranberries in the stuffing next year, but I think you won't want to bother after making fresh sauce. I do like cut-up dried apricots in my stuffing though.

    • @williamremaley9093
      @williamremaley9093 3 года назад

      I wouldn't try using fresh cranberries in the stuffing. They pop when you cook 'em, and they'd probably stain most of the stuffing and infuse the whole thing with cranberry flavor.

  • @Jim-bs8ln
    @Jim-bs8ln 2 года назад

    I don’t understand why you wouldn’t put that in the bird. The sausage has already been cooked so putting it in the turkey would not be a problem.

    • @Thestayathomechef
      @Thestayathomechef  2 года назад

      When you put stuffing into a turkey it gets contaminated so the stuffing needs to reach a temperature of 165 degrees F. Because it is in the center of the bird, in order for it to reach 165 degrees, your turkey meat would be much hotter. Above 165 degrees, your turkey starts to dry out. So you can definitely stuff your turkey, just know that the stuffing will come with a risk of food poisoning, or your turkey meat will be over cooked.

    I’ve been making sausage stuffing since I was very little every year with my mom. I’m sure yours tastes great but I think you should bake it a little bit longer. It looks rather anemic. Also, you’re supposed to add potatoes.
