100% agree with you on Game. I've got memories of me and my brother going in and each getting a game on the 2 for £20 or 2 for £30 in the pre owned section in the 2000's. We'd run home and game all weekend. That version of Game doesn't exist anymore it is all brand new stuff (they stopped doing pre owned earlier this year) and toys, trading cards, plushies etc. Here in the UK we need more physical video game shops otherwise it will slowly die off.
I'm with you mate, that GAME is long go, miss electronic boutique aswel 😥 it's just a brand to use to help sports direct and nothing more, I recon they will drop it completely within 5 years. CEX does need competition to stop a monopoly.
CeX is unfortunately ruining the price of games / consoles. Consoles especially are ridiculously expensive. I’m not going to lie I usually buy DS lites for fun off Vinted as you can get hold of them for £10-£15 if you’re lucky. CeX sell them for £60. It’s scandalous. I saw a lady buy 2 Wii remotes from CeX for £50. You can get them for £10 off Vinted. Unfortunately because they’re offering this warranty I think small independent stores will go out of business, meaning that when they’re closed there will only be CeX to buy games and consoles on the high street. The staff in my local store are so unprofessional too but that’s a side issue.
Nothing wrong with going the DS trick mate, just sensible 👍 Wii remotes are way to overly priced in there. I think your right in regards to the monopoly they are going to have eventually and do feel concern for independent stores, they cannot compete and continuing to replicate there prices will not work long term 😥. Regarding your staff must say mine are a great bunch 😅 only 1 or 2 that hit the rude/monster drinking stereotype 🤣 thanks for watching 🤘
New subscriber here..... How have you only got 2.1k subs? You should be much more popular! Enjoyed your video (and Your old ones)
Welcome mate! Ah very kind we go for quality over quantity here 😉 thank you for the support hope continue to enjoy 🤘
My local game stores one especially have such a depleted stock. All really common games, can’t see how they’re making any money. Fully expect it for to last much longer
Yeah I have seen a few examples of stores like that, it's a concern for sure, love CEX but need an alternative so they dont run wild
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
This has got me thinking. I recently picked up a PS5 controller from a bootsale for £8. It works fine, but if I took this to CEX and traded it in and then brought it straight back, I would then have a PS5 controller for £28 with a 5 year warranty. Would this be a good idea?
Yeah that sounds right to me (£8 you spent us the extra £20 I top of the voucher they would give you), so yeah 5 year warranty for £28 👍 so question is just do you want to pay that for the 5 year cover? Doesnt seem like a bad idea to me but personal preference. Suppose if you think it might break within 5 years 👍
I reckon more often than not, most things they sell will last 5 years, and like you say consoles etc are an anomaly. They're probably also banking on the fact most people will misplace a receipt, or that most people change their phones every 2-3 years making the 5 years irrelevant.
A local store to me has stopped putting retro games in the glass cabinets and store them in plastic boxes, and you need to ask to see what they have for ps1 etc. I asked why and they said as they sell more phones/computers and computer parts, thats what goes in the glass windows.
Think you are right, most things should be lasting 5 years and I can guarantee most people will lose their recipient 😅 I forget people dont keep their phones till they break 🙄🤣. Couple people gave mentioned there, my locals only keep N64 and fame boy games in a box everything else they display. Apparently some print of a list 🤯 that sounds wierd
@@gentlemanofgames it has it's pros and cons, pain if there's a queue, makes me not bother. But then you do get to go through the box and have a proper look. What annoys me more is when they put steelbooks etc directly behind the till so you're almost having to stare through them to see what's on the shelf haha.
I was shocked when I saw the 5 year guarantee.... defo cant go wrong with that 😂
And me mate, no you cannot it does seem too good to be true though doesnt it 😅
I was talking to my bronin law in cex its not new stuff its going back 2 years on purch i love it my xbox 360 has a 5 year warrenty i love it
No way really?? That's mad I need to Google the full warranty policy and give a full read as that's just too generous... suspiciously so 😅
@@gentlemanofgames Does this apply to purchases made before November 1st, 2024?
Any product purchased between November 1st, 2022, and November 1st, 2024, will also automatically be eligible for the 5-year warranty.
From there policy haha crazy!!
@@all4games825 🤣🤣 that's mad, thanks for the information sourcing too mate, spot on detective work 👌
5 years is really generous considering some places will only give you 48 hours :).
🤣🤣 48 hours is standard in a lot of places
5 years warranty is insane! But now im about to buy an old-school 360 😂 red ring of death is no longer a worry 😂
The over charge is worth the 5 years warranty, currys will charge you 50 60 pound for 3 years worth if cover on consoles, so i 100% believe paying alittle more from CEX is now justified
@@blade8768 is that what currys charge is it now, JC that's a bit rich. Didnt think of the ring of death 😅 finally fixed the problem nearly 20 years later with warranty 🤣 thanks for watching
My question is will they do the warranty on things purchased say last month?
In one of the comments guy has taken a snipping from the warranty, applies to previous purchases from 2 years ago 🤯
I'm 100% after a backwards compatible PS3 now!!
O N E H U N D R E D P E R C E N T!!
🤣🤣 that is a great example of a console that it just makes no sense for, agree mate go get one 👌
My biggest query with that would be if buying controllers that then develop stick drift. Would that be included as that's actually an issue with the way they're manufactured. Switch joy cons/ps5/xbox controllers have these issues from new so I'd be curious on how they honour that.
Surely it would be like car warranty’s like the wear and tear stuff like stick drift wouldn’t be covered as that comes down to amount of use? Maybe I’m wrong but that’s what I would think?
Didnt think of stick drift, I cannot image they would like you say yhats general ware that just happens, it's not like it's a result of not looking after it 🤔 can you fix stick drift if so they might take it but surely they will not be that considerate?
I think what you are saying soh ds right mate, but suppose we need someone to give it a go to find out, I would be surprised if they did 🤔
@ I don’t think you can fix it fully sometimes you can take them out give it a good clean and it’ll be better than it was but I think cex generally don’t take them with any stick drift but that might lead to them taking stuff in and saying they’ll give u less if it needs fixing ?
@gentlemanofgames it is fixable if you know what your doing. I fix loads of controllers every week. Main reason I was curious is because sony at least replace controllers that have issues in the first year of purchase and so do retailers. But cex giving 5 years on stuff doesn't quite add up as they could end up with lots of controllers returned within that time frame. Playing games like cod and fifa that require a lot of stick use are what cause the pads to develop drift. And the crap manufacturing.
Thats crazy, you could play the hell out of a system and burnt it out
@@jlbwho7913 yeah exactly and how would they prove it they would have to fix it for you... apparently 😅
If it applies to everything, im getting my next ps5 controller from there as ive got two and both stick drift. 5 year on a controller is quality
Exactly mate you would be acting irresponsible if you didnt get it from them with that warranty, stick drift is an interesting problem for them to deal with 🤔
Surely, other retailers will eventually have to match this warranty offer!! 5 year warranty has to be a deal breaker!!
@SPANISH-TARQUIN agree but who are the other retailers for thing like retro consoles? Independent stores surely cannot match that, it's a mental length of time 👍
@@gentlemanofgames
No matey - not on retro.
I mean modern/current generation hardware.
Retailers like Smyth's, Argos, Currys etc...
I wouldn't consider anywhere else other than CEX If I was in the market for a PS5 controller today!! I think they'll clean up this Xmas!!
5 years is very genorous. Time to laminate your receipts lol.
🤣🤣 get rid of the kids artwork on the fridge... receipts take pride of place
Brilliant 😂
I reckon they've got LOADS of consoles they desperately want shifting this Xmas... 🤔
Also, I think this could be CEX starting to move away from retro consoles??
I recon they will want to move away from them too mate, and games. Like mentioned I recon they just want phones etc and not need to worry about dealing with people like us 🤣
@@gentlemanofgames
😂🤣🥲
CeX growing is not something to be happy about. It reflects the state of the UK economy. People are looking to sell things quickly in order to afford their groceries or perhaps their utility bills. And looking to buy used things because they don't have the money for new. It's also a hot spot for theives who sell their stolen, non traceable items. I've seen people go into a CeX shop and sell their flagship phone because they are now using a dumb phone and can't afford the data charges of a smartphone. It's so sad. When I first came to the UK for a visit in 1999, the economy was great and the cities were crowded with shoppers. Now all i see is foreign owned vape shops, chicken shops, charity shops and mobile phone shops. When I came back to the UK, in 2022... It shocked me how much it has changed. Hardly anyone speaks english fluenty, all the shops are ran by eastern european people and the crime levels are sky high. Such a shame.
Economy has been in the gutter for a long time now unfortunately 😥 CEX do need a competitor as a monopoly is never a good thing but maybe others with the capital to compete on the high street do not see a future in the physical media or high street. Online has changed the way we shop and the English being entitled to own what they cannot afford has been a problem with the countries culture since the 1950s 😥
How can they give you a 5 year warranty on a backwards compatible PS3???
Exactly mate, great example didnt think of that particular console but surely you can't with a reasonable head on
@@gentlemanofgames I had one when new, hardly used it, it broke down, bought another, it broke down, I still have them now, im going to get them modded with the new fix they have expensive but worth it.
I can answer that question, brought a backwards compatible ps3 early this year, unfortunately it got the yellow light so was totally useless. Returned it to my local cex and they gave me the option to replace it with another or refund to voucher. The 5yrs warranty is just a huge bonus now, especially with retro consoles.
@@gentlemanofgamesalso 100% agree with you on the fact that you can purchase any console elsewhere for cheaper. The main plus with cex is using your vouchers towards a console or game, reducing the final cost and offering a now longer warranty.
@@jowellholmes4061 Ah okay so they do honour it then, thats good, thanks for letting me know 👍🏼
im tempting to buy steel series nova pro. 5 year warranty for 155 seems a bargain
👌 not sure where else you could pick that up and have a 5 year warranty mate so sounds like a good idea 🤘
