Simply gorgeous playing. Can't get enough of Zimerman at the moment. Sheer elegance, precision and finesse!
I always come back to these Zimmerman impromptus. My heart sings when I hear them. Masterful performances for the ages.
Simply fabulous, such utter precision and expressive control to light up these masterpieces. The world must live to provide a realm for this purity.
I bought this CD 20 years ago, God knows how many times it being played, Shubert, Zimerman, everyday be beautiful day, in deed.
Such amazing quality! Thank you The Gold Piano!
This recording deserves more recognition
Piękne wykonanie utworu -Franz Schubert - 4 Impromptus D. 935 (Krystian Zimerman) Gratulacje!!!
This is so beautiful that I can not comment more.
Nagyon Szuper Krystian !!!😊
I can't listen to anything but Zimerman at the moment :D He has a magnificent technique and still supreme elegance in his playing. He plays the no. 4 better than anyone I've heard. Especially the last part sounds so much better than with other players.
Yes. But in this rendition, I wish I could see this wonderful person in motion at the keyboard rather than just a still photo. Not just his sound, but his sight, is total beauty.
I do not feel touched emotionally ... too technical ... so comment to Georges Schouten
Only Kissin I would argue supersedes him.
Gorgeous and moving.
Schubert hubo uno solo. Pianistas muchos. Muchos podrán "tocar" Shubert, pero pocos INTERPRETARLO. Zimermann es uno de ellos
bravo monsieur zimmerman
No. 4 is the song that got me hooked on classical music
From 23:43 Schubert is full of emotion.
Then back to the peceful mind as before.Like the way of life.
My favourite interpretation of Schubert's 4 Impromptus D.935. I like Brendel too.
awesome
Wow!
Now that's Schubert alright! Zimerman is up to par with Brendel and Richter
❤️
leggendario

These are a set of masterpieces Schubert left for us all. Like letters for the posterity. Arrau's recordings are the most interesting IMHO - depth, singing tone, colour, placidity, spacious sound. A real musical statement. I heard these pieces live with first class interpreters such as Ingrid Haebler, Maria Joao Pires and Radu Lupu and Larocha. All of them had wonderful stuff to say. On record Brendel, definitively no way. Uschida I found too full of mannerism. I like Horowitz, but he does not play all 4 of them. Zimmermann is a bit shallow for my taste, although clearly and carefully toned. Richter is pure magic, but did not record the complete set. Thus, I stick to master Arrau.......his renditions were recorded during his Last Sessions, shortly before he passed away, and offer everything one would expect of these pieces. Schubert is not for beginners, not really.
Oh my dear. A very individual post that shows once more that music is very individual.
I cannot find any thing that I could support. Horowitz' Schubert is just horrible. Except Ingrid Haebler none of your mentioned pianists is any Schubert specialist at all. Uschida isn't a reference either to judge the play of one of the greatest Schubert specialists ever: Alfred Brendel. His interpretation was influenced by his teacher Edwin Fischer. At the same time (as Fischer) Artur Schnabel was the other great Schubert specialist. Arrau cannot compare to these wonderful pianists IMHO.
However I always liked Artur Rubinstein's few Schubert Impromptu recordings. Zimerman finally made me fully enjoy the whole richness of all 8 Impromptus even more convincing than ANY other pianist! :D
My father's best friend was taught by a pupil of Arrau's but I so adore Schnabel Edwin Fischer although the recordings were old just such passion but agree Schubert is surely all about lyricism??? it has to sing.
@@MusikPiratCH Horowitz is indeed awful (you know the MSteinberg Grove quote, I hope). I like Brendel for simplicity and straightforwardness among many other things. Not Schnabel so much, and am going to check Arrau now. Rubinstein was a v good Schubert pianist, kind of oddly.
Interesting that no one here mentions Perahia or Kempff, speaking of straightforward musicality.
@@davidmoran5431 Thanks for your answer. Interestingly enough the Shazam-App at the first movement of D.960 played by Krystian Zimerman showed (if it even recognizes the piece correctly) either Brendel or Schnabel (while the second movement was correctly showed as Zimerman). I don't know if this speaks for Zimerman, Brendel or/and Schnabel? *uncertain*
@@MusikPiratCH ha
I do think anyone will ever surpass R Serkin's recording of the one in B Flat.
1 is really excellent. Sometimes he tends to the poky, a little, and the overly pointed or inflected, just a little. But the overall effect is as everyone says, to my ear.

? Il y a tant d'autres possibles! Et tout le monde serait gagnant! MERCI.
which is your favourite impromptu from d935
+Variet.Rubik Lop They are all great in their own ways.
but if you could choose one, what would be your favourite
I have studied and played all four. If I had to choose just one it would be number 3 because of the variety from one variation to another. I find number 2 to be the most easily accomplished and give it to students first in their introduction to this group of pieces. Number 1 and 3 are more difficult but well worth the effort. Opus 90 is great as well. Schubert left us some treasures as did all the great composers and give us a lifetime of enjoyment.
Definitely No. 3 in B-flat major ! It's pure Shubert!
My favourite in D935 is No 1
😔💕♥️💞🤔🎶🥀

vero ?
Go try to see him while you can
I think Krystian is a great player, I love his playing, but the maestro is Alfred Brendel. He is a magician..
It isn' t available on mobile devices
AHHNOWAINOU ...
in gratitude .

Some call this op. 142 D 935 like a sonata. What supports this theory is that the first and the last of those Impromptus are both in f minor. Therefore they form like a basis of a sonata! On the other hand all of those Impromptus show their own melody and richness of ideas (typical for Schubert). Why should Schubert call them Impromptu and not present it as a sonata?
OMG this is one of the most misguided opinions on music theory that I've ever read! O_O
Then tell me in your opinion what's wrong about it? xD
A sonata is a sonata, not a cycle of unrelated pieces of unrestricted form.
You know as well as I do that those Impromptus op. posth. 142 D. 935 were published after Schubert's death. Therefore some music theoreticans called it a Sonata! And unrelated? That's the question ... xD
The date of publication has nothing to do with the question. Nor do the keys which the pieces are in. Read a bit on what is a sonata form, what movements do the traditional sonatas have and then argue. Though there is nothing to argue about here.
.
#3 is nicely played, # 1 and #2 are graceless, anyway I prefer Sylvia Čápová's rendition ! She's a monster !!!
Schubert seems to have written this last srt in the last 12 months of his life. They are thus part of the final phase. The first set were written just before. They are also beautiful but don't quite make it into the 'final great' year...
I love Zimerman. I especially love his interpretation of Chopin's Ballades and Concertos. But for the love of god how can he make these four impromptus SO LIFELESS?? I expected so much eloquence and passion like in the Ballades but I guess I just can't see the impromptus the way he does.
So lifeless? I don't agree. Why don't you try Brendel?!
*lol* Lifeless? I cannot understand your critics! But mirakor1 is probably right one that is used to those Impromptus by Schubert like Brendel, Fischer or Schnabel play it may be very confused about this interpretation. For me however this interpretation is as rich as Schubert's symphonies. Especially the last of this serie made me understand this beautiful piece by Schubert. I never was convinced by Brendel, Fischer nor Schnabel with No. 4! :D
Kai-Xuan Yao, I agree with you.
I do agree that these Impromptus deserved more depth and poetry. I love Zimerman too - so wonderful in the Chopin Concertos and Barcarolle and 4th Ballade. But here, with Schubert, something's missing. Will go back to Mitsuko Uchida.
Claudio Pinto No way! Zimerman plays these Impromptus even deeper and more poetric than anyone else. But still it might be a matter of taste. Because I like Schubert's piano pieces played more like Schubert's symphonies! :D
the virgin Krystian Zimerman and the chad Alfred Brendel
#2 has way too much separation, takes away the beauty of the piece.
#3 is too fast.
Wow -specialist;)Lol
Gabriel Shapiro #2 has defenitely 2 different parts. I played it myself. Krystian Zimerman is just great at those Impromptus (I grew up with the recordings by Rubinstein and Brendel as well as Brendel's teacher Edwin Fischer and Schnabel) - better than all those mentioned, IMHO!
#3 is my favorite. I wish I could play it as Krystian Zimerman - just perfect for my taste!
don't like it
