I’ve used this case for numerous builds. It’s great to build in, and overall a great bang for the buck case. Tempered glass side panel with no thumb screws, passable air flow, psu covered, high quality paint, recessed risers for the motherboard. Also I have never had a problem removing the GPU slot covers. It’s definitely been one of my favourite low end cases to build in.

    • @DawidDoesTechStuff

I've got the same case and can confirm that Dawid's case here probably had some manufacturing defect on the PCIE cover side, since the covers on mine came off real easy with a simple push and tug.

    • @pieinaapplegaming
      @pieinaapplegaming 3 года назад +1

Having built about 10 computers in the Macube it is a manufacturing error, and one that I've never heard of nor can understand how the hell it would happen. Anyway, when the factory builds the case properly they are for some reason very stiff, but for the price it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make :)

Please test the mcube's airflow, by taping up the front intake vents, and progressively removing some (3 cm at a time?) tape and retesting - would be interesting to see just how restrictive intakes effects system temps.

  • @ShortHandedNow
    @ShortHandedNow 3 года назад +2

Lower CPU tempatures is pretty easy to figure out seeing as the "MaCube" has the large radiator/fan mounting space on the roof. The CPU cooler is just pulling in a lot of fresh air from there. The Ebola/Matrexx 30 hass the lower front intake which benefits the GPU a little more seeing as it's right in the path where the intake fans will be dumping fresh air. Always had a soft spot for DeepCool products and it is great to see their case line evolving the way it is!

I built My first pc back at the end of December and I used a Deep Cool Matrexx 55 Mesh. I have to say for the low price that the case was, I was impressed with just how well it was to build in. I was worried about it being to flimsy or have other major flaws, but in fact in had fairly decent cable management and great airflow, with a semi tinted glass side panel, not too bad for under $70.00 Canadian dollars.

There's a very restrictive dust filter behind the front ventilation in the ebola case. If you get rid of the dust filter, the airflow improves significantly in that case.

It’s a step in the right direction. A mesh front can be added easily and the rear pci cover thingsies shouldn’t be tough to change either. The Matrexx is used in quite a few budget builds on pcpartpicker. With a little bit of polishing they might pull off a stunt.

This was the perfect case for my simple build, didn’t have trouble with the slot covers, but I did bent the back plate a bit in error 😢 I didn’t use the front fan slots as my cooling isn’t pushing the case with the 2 140mm fans intaking up top and the one 120mm included fan outaking at the rear. I can't quite tell if the ebola case has ventilation in the top panel or not, but if it doesn't, and the macube does, that could explain the lower CPU temperatures because the CPU cooler could be sucking in air from the top of the case instead of relying on airflow from the front panel! I had a similar thing happen in one of my fractal design cases where when I replaced the closed top panel with the ventilated one my CPU temps decreased.

  • @ChristmasCrustacean1

I don't understand why though they made the case for two front fans. Seeing the bottom one is worthless has nowhere for the air to flow to. I made a Ryzen 5 3600 with a Asus 1660 Super dual. It gets really hot in the case. I'm am now look for a new case to keep everything cooler.

I fairly recently bought a cougar mx 410 mesh, the cheap version with no rgb or tempered glass for my secondary pc. With some cheap RGB fans I picked up it looks pretty nice, though the plastics are a little cheap feeling. I have a deepcool cl500(pretty much the same as Macube 110, just panel changes(airflow) and smaller changes inside), it was easy enough to build in, it looks good and it has pretty good airflow.
Only complaints are the gaps in the mesh are a bit big so a lot of dust goes through. To install the bottom front fan on the outside, you need to remove the psu to move the hdd cage(just because you can't take out the hdd cage) to access the screws to the fan, and my unit has a fault, the front panel doesn't click in at the bottom left so there's a small 2mm gap from the side glass panel and the front panel, but it's okay.
Overall much better than my old cooler master case. It's good.

The best m atx case is the NR 400 great airflow and has the “good” type of slot covers. It also has a great front and side panel removal. I've used a Macube 310 (wich is pretty similar to the 110 apart from the top unrestricted ventilation) for a couple of months last year and I loved building on it, the glass mounting system and It's aesthetics but I had to change to a Corsair 4000d AF due to temperature problems.
The front pannel doesn't choke off airflow completely and for most basic systems I'm sure that it would be fine. However, living in a pretty warm place such as Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, the overall ambient temperature sometimes it's already hitting near 40ºc on summer, I had to remove the front pannel constantly to see a minus 10ºc difference in CPU and GPU temps almost immediately.
Great and beautiful case but I wouldn't recommend it for really warm places and mid/high-end builds.

I had the same issue with the garbage-tier 20$ case I'm currently using, and just like in your case, I can't find anyone else who went through it. I guess we're just unlucky.

My build is on a Matrixx 3. It was horrible to build in, but I stripped it all up to make place, painted it a bit, and I love the end result with the mATX, the glass panel, the minimalist case and obviously the 30$ price tag haha ! :o
Edit: 30 canadian $ of course haha

I have been using the macube 310 non p and airflow sucks but its so beautiful, I want to upgrade but the space inside is unmatched form cases i have used, any good ones out there to replace it with?

Got the exact case! The rear pcie slots were harder compared to most cases I've used but easier to what you experienced :P I just assumed they're "better quality" because I've only used $30 cases so far

I have the ebola case, not bought by choice, and have been really looking to get a Macube 110 as an upgrade but I cannot find any for sale. The way I solved the horrid cable management, was by 3d printing my own PSU basement. Looks much cleaner now!
edit : nevermind they seem to be in stock now!

It looks like the older case has a solid top panel? Or is at least closer to the top panel? Maybe airflow up there is poor?

I use the same case as the black one in my secretary dep in my company. With a Ryzen 3400G, a SDD and 16Gb RAM, it's a nice little silent M-ATX case that's stay cold, even with stock cooler. But sure, they are not designed for gaming rigs.

You should check out the MATREXX 40... its a great M-ATX case too

I had the exact same trouble taking the slot covers off but with deepcools matrexx case. Cut my thumb pretty bad too. Deepcool cases just demand sacrifice.

The riveted design would look awesome on the macube... perhaps something similar to how Corsair did the front panel on their 275 airflow... I'd pay 1.5x more for that case if it actually ventilated well.
I do have to say it still depends more on what CPU cooler you rock. I have a 120mm AIO and my Ryzen 3600 does ~45* idle in this sauna of a case (running an undervolt, which is free and easy to do)

Can anyone please tell me what is benchmarking tool Dawid used in his youtube videos? The one's shown in 7:31 while he is playing games. Would be curious to know how my own computer runs.

I've got the DEEPCOOL Matrexx 55 v3 RGB in white, and like you, had to almost get an angle grinder on those PCI Express covers. They're absolutely horrid to remove, and even more so once you need to rip them out once you've fitted the motherboard. I was so scared of slipping with pliers and screwdriver and stabbing my motherboard to an untimely death! Aside from that, the Matrexx 55 was a breeze to build in, in fact, it looks almost like the Maccube except the front panel is tempered glass, with similar airflow path as the maccube.

The temperature delta change is fairly easily explained.
In the ebola case, your airflow is front to back. So it has a chance to get to the underside of the GPU, where its fans are.
In the Macube, the airflow is in from the top. This allows the CPU to get more air than having to suck it across the entire case, plus hot air rises, and can escape through the top too. The downside is that the GPU is at the bottom of the case, so it has to no direct airflow path, and the CPU fan is busy pushing all this air out of the case out the back fan.
It isn't a starvation, but the GPU isn't getting as much airflow. Funnily enough, a single 120mm case fan in the lower slot in the front may help the GPU by moving this air (not about fresh air, but moving air)
