@@chadking8767 It's really not that hard especially if you reuse things that you can. Like you can pretty much still game on a 3770 or even 2500k overclocked with a GTX 970 or RX 570 or something perfectly fine even at 1080p. I was having to turn all kinds of shit down back in 2017 at 768p because I was still using a 1gb HD 7000 series Radeon and an i5 3350p. Amausingly, a 3770k and a GTX 980 was really all I needed to do with that PC and still game. I simply chose not to, because I'm a fidelity snob who's overcompensating for the suffering of XCOM2 running like shit at 768p and so I'm at 1440p now. But even then, mostly what's different between then and now is really only refresh rates and resolution, not actual game mechanics or graphical improvements. Dead Space 2 literally still looks like some 2022 game trying to sell itself on raytracing or some shit. Basically everything stagnated after about 2010, 2012, so if you don't upgrade your monitor, odds are you can still use a really old/low end graphics card and be fine unless the game is a complete unoptimized mess like Crysis or Cyberpunk or something.
      >but it's not just optimizations!
Go look at Alien: Isolation and tell me that. 2014 game that straight on looks better than tons of modern games, even including the models. It outright looks better with more detail to the skin of their face than triple A games. Division 2 is a very pretty game and its models could be from 2012 and I likely wouldn't notice the difference. It's sad. Most of the gaming conventions and even the popular franchises all started in the 90s until they were sodomized horribly by Bethesda or someone, because it's an industry ran by the corpos, the lawyers, the marketing people, the suits wanting dividends, and not the early non-businesstwats who made up the gaming industry, who successfully deflected blame for their terrible practices on "wokeness" when most wokeness doesn't even exist in gaming and the few times it does was specifically forced in there by the business types themselves as a marketing decision to "sell more units." Meanwhile the same shitheads who've been ruining gaming since the late 80s in those corporations are the same ones that've been aggressively moving to phoneshit, after they drained every last drop of blood they could squeeze out of paid in game microtransactions on full priced titles and consolization. Basically every time I think about gaming or tech and money I get asshurt all over again because I remember who's to blame and keeps getting away with it and making things worse, because art is ruled by Capital, by MBA major types.
The butthurt grows the longer your memory as you can remember how much worse it's gotten over time, until you just start refusing to give them your money. Like I won't give Valve my money if I can help it, I will never pay for a title from EA or Activision. So even if you're not frugal, you can still be rightfully butthurt when you remember your phone's battery doesn't come out (and tracks you as a GPS/audio/webtraffic bug anyway), your laptop's RAM, SSD, GPU, and battery are all soldered on, and the proprietary motherboards don't even have the fucking right connectors so you can't reuse anything from Dell anyway thus negating any reason to purchase something from Dell (especially not the high end shit where basically "Alienware" is a plastic skin of Alienware's corpse that an ancient metal Dell chassis wears around to frighten oldfag gamers with, since it's got a 120mm AIO for a 12900k and performs worse than a 12700k anyway) end up refusing to pay for or use anything from Apple ever, feel like nVidia is straight up scamming and lying to you without the performance to deliver, see how shitty a lot of surviving companies are now that EA didn't murder yet like Eidos, and basically just stop being willing to pay for anything new sheerly on principle of hating the companies. So if you can't be frugal, remember what they took from you and be butthurt.

This case does have a lot of look but in terms of air flow it's a chain link fence around a test bench. Imagination time. If you want to cool a room what would work better, closing the door and using a window-mounted air conditioner, or setting that AC unit on the floor in the middle of the room? In the window, right? Cool air in, hot air out. It's all about exchanging hot air with cold air. This case moves a lot of air around in a chaotic way. It's basically the design of a space heater. There's a practical reason why most cases aren't just perforated metal boxes. I wonder if he used another case with good airflow but a dedicated intake and outtake as a control if the results would've been different.

I still use my old Antec 900 case from 2007, 4 120mm case fans and one 200mm. Great air flow. I cut a window a/c filter(very thin plastic kind) to fit the front to keep the dust out where 2 of the 120mm intake air. Cut another small piece for the side 120mm fan that blows over the GPU. The GPU fans don't even come on until the GPU is really pushed because of it. The top 200mm fan exhaust air out the top and another 120mm in the back in line with the CPU cooler exhaust out the back. My power supply also has a 120mm fan that exhaust out the back as well. I just cleaned it after my last build from 3 years ago and there was hardly any dust in there, it gets used 4-6 hours daily. After all these years I only had to replace one fan. So far I've built 4 systems in it over the years. I think if I build another system in it I'll replace all the fans since the rest are so old. If you can't tell it's my favorite case and I've gotten my money's worth out of it!

Since hot air rises, the vertical mounting doesn’t allow any hot air to be stuck anywhere inside the casing. It has a pair of 120mm fans to push air from bottom to top. And the 120mm exhaust fan is situated right above the cpu to move any hot air out.

I had one that I used for a while. Great airflow and really didn't mind the fan noise. Mainly due to the furnace and AC making more noise than my fans.
LOVED the fact the hard drives had some shock protection, in the case they were suspended by rubber bungee cables with clips.
LOVED the totally modular case. If I ever had lighting for the case I'd simply flip the board from one side to the other.
LOVED the fact I could take the shop vac, go into blower mode and blow dust out of the whole thing.
Only con I had about the case was while it was on the floor at LAN parties one knocked over drink and game over.
Wish I still had the case. Had it in storage in my basement when it was accidentally taken by a junk removal company when I wasn't home.

This case cost around 200 USD in 2011. I was building a pc and Newegg just happened to have the LanBoy Air in red-black on a one-day sale for 50% off the very day that I was ordering my components. It was worth the sale price. Thermals were excellent and it was one of only a few cases wide enough to accomodate a Thermaltake Frio, which was a very large air cooler (this also required flipping around the rear intake fan so it functioned as an exhaust). The plastic did feel a bit flimsy. And you're definitely right about dust being an issue with this case. I had to clean it out with an air compressor regularly.

I actually owned this case (but with blue accents instead of yellow), and gave it away to my friend in a charity build after his old PC was stolen. It's a really great case- very modular, rugged, and configurable. As Dawid pointed out though, it gets dirty really fast!
It also has the worst 3.5" drive mounting system ever made, where the drives are supported on floating rubber tube bungies, which crack and fall apart after 5 years. There are some after-market solid brackets that fixes this issue, though. I definitely recommend the Antec LANboy Air- it's durability and conveniences like the fold-down carrying handles make it a winner.

And since you can mount almost anything in 5.25" bays, I won't side-grade to a modern case. The only negative thing about it is the lack of a PSU dust filter, and plastic clips. Plastic clips die over time.

Bonus facts: the tiny plastic case of hardware (screws, etc.) actually fits into the front of the car at the bottom where that big gap is under the fan. You can use the box to store a screwdriver and extra hardware if you need to work on your computer at a Lan, hence the name lanboy. Also the motherboard tray can be removed and mounted to the opposite side of the case so that you can still see your hardware if you have your computer no matter what side of your desk its on. If airflow is a concern this case can also hold up to 18 120mm fans as well!
