This got me SO pumped to do one of these projects.. I have a good friend that has a knackered guitar that he's struggling with, and I've just sent him this to encourage him to make it his own and build his own unique sound, and I REALLY wish I could be there and we could build it together, but we're in different countries. Awesome job man
Hey Marc, that's pretty cool! I'm thinking that if you drilled a ring of holes in the bowl's trough it might increase the bass response by giving the center more flexibility and allowing it to move in and out moving freely.
Great job on that guitar, Marc. I love that distress that you did. Any chance of a video showing how to get a finish like that please? Keep sharing these gems please because you’re getting us through this pandemic and lockdown one video at a time (I’m in Scotland and shops finally reopen tomorrow and we get one step closer to whatever the new normal will be)!!
Hey, mate! That's what i call a great job! Amazing finish! I'm trying to replicate on my old guitar, but my 3rd string keeps breaking when its just about to get tuned.. maybe you can help with what i'm doing wrong? I tried tuning slowly, loosening before tight but nothing works..
OK strange, can you take a pic of the guitar and also a pic of the bridge, Nut and tail piece. Does the string break in the same place each time? What string gauge you using and it is the G string that keeps breaking and what are you turning too? for G tuning it should be D/G/D/G/B/D, some Dobro tuning are GBDGBD and this puts a lot of stress on the guitar!! marclebonescigarboxguitars@yahoo.com
Why not order a regular cone for a dobro guitar? The cheap ones are pressed while the best ones are spun. All the parts are available including the spider bridge. The best spider bridges are sand cast metal, while the cheap ones are plastic.
I cant believe this has been out 2 years before utube put it in my face - awesome
3 years, and agreed, 'totally'. This is awesome.............EVERYTHING IS AWESOME NOW!..................Now I know everything's gonna be okay, lol
The spatula tailpiece is the most brilliant thing I’ve encountered in a while. Thank you sir
Thank you

That technique works on a speaker cone, so it seems like it should in this case too.
