Got me an old Eko 12, Top bellied n bridge pulled, you inspired me enough to do as you have, the Eko has a 4 bolt on neck, so I guess a I can fine adjust with shims, Thanks for the info', enjoyed this ; )
Nice job. I have a couple of question if you don't mind. Why not use a resonator bowl? Is there a way to adjust intonation? Is your biscuit bridge pre grooved for the strings or is this something that needs to be done? This would be a great way to fix a bad neck set without touching the neck itself! Thanks for your time. I suppose the neck angle and general body shape of my guitar could be unique and vary from yours...so maybe the depth you used for the two lips in the ring would be different from what I need. The only way I know how to judge this is to route out the ring a little at a time and then place the cone/spider/saddle in the ring...then hold a long straight edge from the nut to the saddle to simulate strings under tension...and route down until the straight edge sits at a height very slightly ABOVE where you want it. The strings should depress the cone ever so sightly I presume.
Hi Shamus. Just wondering, Wouldn't you want to support the bundt pan in the center with a stand off or something for the best resonance. Come in under the cone with something to hold the pan up and support the bridge. Then the sides of the pan could ring just like when you held the center and tapped the side of the pan in the video. What do you think?

This means that in order to get action (string height) suitable for normal fret playing I will need to lower the entire cover/bridge/cone setup. In your video here you mentioned you used 1/2 inch plywood to make your ring. What I would REALLY like to know is what depths of wood you removed in the ring to make the lip for the cover plate and also for the lip for the cone? How far down from the top of the plywood did you need 'router' out to set the lip for the cone? 1/2 inch? 3/4 inch?

I know I am commenting a lot here but one more question...did you feel that there were any string-to-saddle tension/sound issues due to NOT modifying the standard tailpiece. Jeff McDermott mentioned this in his comment here and mentioned that he would modify the tailpiece.
I have a guitar I'm planning to do this with. I'm curious about the support you added to the back of the guitar. I haven't seen that done in others I've looked at. Is it attached to where the heel of the neck is attached, or just to the back of the guitar? I assume it's just glued in?
I just saw you video. Nice job. I've done a few of these over the years. Check out my method sometime. I just posted a video of it. I developed a device that gives the strings a little more tension behind the saddle. When you can't remove a neck to adjust for hight you loose that tension and related tone.

I have an old Robelli resonator I got off E bay. I keep having to mess with the action. It doesn't have any wood from the neck to the back like other ones do. I'm considering tearing it back down and putting in a 3/4 inch dowell. Any thoughts?
Got me a smashed Fernandes acoustic git and an angel food cake tin. Gonna attempt an acoustic/electric six-string guitar/sitar with a buzzing (Gotoh or a home-ground cow bone device) bridge set atop the cake pan tube . Might add an aluminum desk lamp hood for a dome-shaped back. (SEE my electric toilet seat guitar at "CrapMaster demo ONE" here on RUclips at Gary SMITTY Smith. It sports a home-ground cow bone nut and a modified door hinge bridge...iffy intonation but it works...LEDs by Radio Shack)

If you were building a dobro with a really tall nut, would you still have to lower it?
