Sets designed this well are truly humbling...this one is a legit "I could NEVER!"
Fr
if i had infinite money, i would love to buy 3 copies of this set
Lego needs to get those mould issues sorted because I noticed some mould marks on a recent set I built too and it just takes away a lot of the impression of quality you get with Lego. If they keep doing this and even making it worse they will seriously hurt their brand image.
So glad you mentioned the terrible quality of the 1x11/4 round tile Jang. Hopefully LEGO will get on that ASAP.
This B model is so good. Could have mistakenly taken as the A model.
This is what the Creator 3-in-1 Wild Lion set (31112) that was released a couple of years ago should have been. That set used bright orange and dark red as the color scheme, but this one looks so much better and more realistic. Of course, this set also has many more pieces.
It seems like LEGO is trying to inject their plastic quicker, causing those injection points to stick out more as their are stressed more, but it could also cause warpage or shrink deviations in the parts themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to short on production costs as you've stated earlier. Or maybe they are using more recycled plastics causing the deviations in moulding.
in regards to the mold marks, i first started noticing them when building the lion knight's castle, and ever since then my ocd has made it impossible for me to place any parts without making sure the mold mark will be facing away to make it less visible.
Really like this build for the lion. Shame LEGO is increasing prices while QC takes a hard dive.
The sprue marks did get worse, I thought I was just going crazy. But what a stellar b model! usually they’re underwhelming
3in1 is one of the best series of Lego for years already, incidentially it is also one of the series which maintains the original spirit of Lego the best. Lion is exceptionally well shaped but the other 2 builds are fantastic as well. This gives you tripple the value of a regular set and might inspire some to go beyond what is in the instructions.
Might be the best 3in1 set to date
Based on what Jang theorised, should more creator sets possibly be designed as a “B Model” first then have the designer get more parts to build the “A Model”?
I think JANG is on to something in suggesting the B model was designed first. One strong hint in that direction is the hinge plates in this model being angled, but in the A model they are completely straight. They are required for the lion, but a plain 1x4 plate would have worked in the giraffe.
Like the giraffe, the head is almost perfect!
i have noticed a heavy decrease in quality from LEGO from 2023 to 2024. Parts that never had mold marks have bumpy marks now. The new train track pieces in the brand new Orient Express all have bow and flex and do not lay flat. Among a ton of other issues LEGO's quality check and control is nonexistent. In my recent Modular Natural History Museum set I just got and built...that set had 3 missing parts and one of the parts was the wrong color. I don't get whats going over at LEGO but there is a significant and noticeable quality decrease.
Man I kinda want this set just for the b model!
I might just piece this out with my buckets it’s so good
The reason i reached this video was i looked at the alternative build and couldnt decide which one i like the most so i needed a second opinion.
Love this set - it is on my wish list to pick up
Designer of this set needs a big raise
This look roarwsone great review jang 👍
this looks roarsome great review jang 👍
Yeah I’ve had that issue with the corner tiles for a while, hopefully they fix it soon
When I watched this I thought of Tony the Tiger going 'Itttt's Great!'
Similar to the warped pieces, I’ve noticed some 2x2 tile have so much clutch power that they squeak when you put them on and take them off other pieces. Not a great feeling (or sound).
Great review. I am intrigued by the complexity of these 3 designs. I am disappointed to hear about the quality control issues with the corner tiles. Glad you mentioned it. I hope Lego will take note and fix this. Lego sets are pricey enough, so we should expect good quality control to match the prices.
This is a REALLY good lion. If I bought this set, I'd probably build this, instead of the giraffe, since I like lions a lot more than giraffes. Or at least, I might build the giraffe, keep it for a while, then rebuild it to the lion and keep it as the lion for long term.
It's too bad it's not scale with the tiger! Hmm, or maybe it is, I'd have to see the two side by side. This set is $65 and the tiger is $50, so maybe...
Noticed the same issue with the round quarter tile on my Speed Champions Dodge Charger from years ago. Seems to be cavitation on the walls of the piece probably from removed from the mold too quickly.
that face is ON POINT
I'm ordering 2 of this set, just because I think the alternate models are so good. I'll definitely build the A model, but I'm not sure yet which of the B and C model I'll build. I was even considering buying a third copy.
The legs are extremity similar to the majestic tiger released a few years back, the lion looks a bit too lean and the mane is a tiny bit big, im thinking of picking up two for the giraffe and the antelope.
The hinge pieces whose presence in the giraffe legs was puzzling are put to full-functional use here, supporting the theory proposed at 3:19
I have the same problem with these 1x1 tiles
Would like to see this next to the tiger set
Some clone brands are now better at creating copys of lego parts than Lego now. I have some sets made by Quan Gaun and there coner round tiles copys are looking nice.
LEGO's part quality needs to get better
Maybe there should be a petition
Wow, it's impressive! I'm surprise how the front legs are similar even in articulation to the Majestic Tiger's ones. It seems smaller than the Tiger, what would be accurate, tigers are indeed bigger than lions XD
Well spotted on the warped parts. It's a shame that LEGO keeps lowering their standards. This model is great though. Better than the A model tbh.
This b model is awesome, this lion is better than the last creator lion which was an a model. Lego should make a lion set that the lion is the a model
Lion Legend Beast is that you ?
Wow! This should've been it's own set, with an African theme/line to encompass a bunch of the animals from the continent, built in this way. It's impossible to think how this could've been done better, with LEGO! As this, imo, is better than the poured plastic versions they do
I want to buy all three . Also the lion has too much hollow studs showing on the face
Is the lion the same scale as the recent 3-in-1 tiger?
How long before we see someone with an alternate build of this model as Mufasa?
So, the lion is a contender for the "Mane" build?
What a set! First a dang good giraffe, and now a dang good lion!
That is one impurrrressive set!
LEGO quality control right now is extremely worrying.
What is Lego thinking, that's one strange looking lion!
That face is immaculate, what an expertly designed model. I dont think theres been a brick build lion from lego this good
