In this new Rocket League video I talk about the 5 biggest tips for being a good teammate with people you don't have communication with. Most players in competitive playlists in Rocket League are playing alone so it's important that you know how to play with a wide range of play styles. There are loads of different types of Rocket League players out but these tips apply and can help you rank up with all sorts of players. Ever had bad teammates before? These Rocket League tips will help you out tremendously. The main biggest tips for solo queuing in Rocket League that I gave in this video is having trust in your teammates. Trust is an extremely underrated factor of solo queuing in Rocket League. A lack of trust between two teammates can often lead to bad chemistry and a toxic mindset along with increasing tilt which we all know there is enough of in Rocket League. Rocket League is perhaps one of the most unique team based games because the map is always the same but yet there's so much to learn and so much room to improve. I personally believe there is no skill ceiling at all in Rocket League and that players will continue to progress in skill and ability. The future of rank and esports in Rocket League is exciting to think about especially with all the new players that will be coming in when Rocket League goes free to play and enters the epic games store. Let me know what you're most excited about for the future of Rocket League in the comments. Thanks for watching and thanks for subscribing!

"Stop going for flip resets!"
Well I got that one down since my day 1 on rocket league
Nice one!

Chat disabled for 4 seconds...
It’s like an epidemic, with all these new kids who’ve put in half the time and have good mechanics but have game sense of Forrest Gump trying to understand string theory after landing in an alternate dimension.
Only low ranked players do like air dribble and flip reset etc. I mean they are rarely situaationally appropriated.but these new kids actually look at their points and like will just type other people’s numbers into chat not realizing that a perfect team should have all same points I mean it’s just who’s in what position when what opportunity occurs but these new kids who have played 1 game in champ before going on massive losing streak where they blame their tm8s bc they do t save all the goals that are made after he does want anounts to walking over and handing the other team the ball over and over and over snatching it from teammates and just playing like it’s 1s until you make a mistake then those guys are thereto save it so I can go do a ceiling shot flip reset that hangs ball to them on silver platter while they have no boost and essentially dares the flock of real champs in hat they can’t slice one in within the 20 seconds it takes dudes to get boost and get here which they sling around w bit until opening and laser it In to the chat spamming of fit who has a 0.12 saves per game and 0.26assists per game and 8 goals per game average since he literslly is never thete for save unless accident since he’s the ones who perpetually goes for crazy mechanics that look sick but have as much use as a bag of sand when you’re dying of thirst
Matt S i am gc most of these tips were good and air dribbles are cery useful you only go for flip resets if you have communication in speak or spmething like that but you wont get anywhere if youre a plat working on mechanics in training that u barely use. This is to everyone not you i didnt read the whole essay. Too much reading for me
Lmao
Lmao I’m in plat and I barely air dribble as I mess up mostly but I will never try to get a flip reset except in free play
The best way to be a good teammate is to remove "what a save" as an option for quick chat

I never use "What a save !" ironically ^-^ I use it whenever my mates makes an incredible save.

@Glacier Ange1 Sure buddy.. And then he wont even FF which is also arrogant because you end up tillting your mate even more. Then believe me Im not a nice guy anymore and tell them to go back to Platin where you can whiff 7/10.
@@diego090bw plz no i've had enough of these platinum players i've watch this video to maybe finally end Up Higher than platinum since i'm supposed to be champ and been doing pretty Much everything but trusting them since it's platinum and people barely areal and over commits everything, platinum is the worst rank in the game hands down
@@f-twelve7155 Actually C2 is the worst rank in my opinion. You can have an All Star bot at best as a mate or a God.. If the Bot is in ur team and the two opponents are really good you could be an RLCS Pro and couldnt carry believe me.

you can see it as a metaphor. it applies for other stuff too. basically, don't go for flashy solo plays that will leave your team mate high and dry if you mess it up. it ties in to the other tips about how you should avoid tricking your team mate, by being obvious and intentional in your movements

Hi Muchoe. I love your YT videos. Thank you for replies on videos😀
yes and no i'm on plat and i know i need to work my mecanical lvl but i don't get why on my ranck on most of my game (on my team or not)
i see hudge ballchaser that think they can win alone
Believe me dude if you get really unlucky you can.
Unless your teammates leave/DC every other match you play...
Nope. Solo queue got me stuck in plat 2. Found one good teammate and queued with him to diamond
Extra tip: Be as nice as you can. There are too many babys that ragequit after 1 What a save!
Kind of disappointing how this comment seems to represent the norm: that What a save! A) should only be used on teammates B) and/or sarcastically C) when you do, it is not you, but the guy who doesn't like to listen to childish spam in a video game, that is the "baby" :)
I mean kinda disrespectful if you're referring to 'What a save' ing your own teammate when you're supposed to be working *together*. All that's doing is showing your teammate you're a dickhead and maybe messing with their mental about
Ballistic Ball i mean, when you are carrying your teammate and he says what a save or close one or anything like that, it is super annoying, it pisses me off. I always stay quiet with other peoples mistakes, but if they point out mine when they make a crap ton of mistakes you either have to clean up or get scored for, i do leave games. Just to prove the point that my teammate is crap or annoying. I don’t want to get mad at a game i enjoy playing so it is good to do. You also get a short 5 minuto break which can help you rest and maybe come back and play better. It also works against them because they get mad because the lose rank
I turned chat off 🤷♂️
1. Left goes
2. If I see right going, I just back off
3. I'm nowhere near good enough for it to make any significant difference even if the chat was useful and productive
What is worse is the jackass that thinks there is a legitimate reason to shit on your teamates.
Look, I might have fucked up the save, but what led to this point was likely some combination of both of us and it will likely continue happening now that there is less trust.
This is the mentality I have after many rage quits from assholes that spam that shit. Generally even if it isn’t my fault I give a “sorry” just because some people can’t fucking handle the small goal.
If I leave, its because I don’t feel like you will trust me and feel as though you are a player that is more trouble than you are worth, this game is FUN not a job, so don’t be a piece of shit about it.
I've made it to C2, and I can't even consistently setup ceiling shots, is that uncommon? Because I honestly don't find them that useful.
I applaud you for having this mentality 🙏
But without them how will you make sweet highlight clips??? (Even though you only score 1 out of 20...)
I'd practice them, they can be really useful. You can make a banger shot, or directly pass to your teammate infield or off the back board
I got GC in 3x3.
I can't flip reset, air dribble from the floor or do a ceiling shot.
Don't hesitate, rotate back and always get into a position that will allow you to challenge the ball next (ofc, if it is your time to challenge the ball).
Let your teammates carry you :D
“The teammate is the same rank as you for a good reason.”
Smurfs: ya sure?
@@yasminhernandez2337 Meanwhile my friend who is in silver had a smurf two games in the row who admitted to being smurfs and proceeded to air dribble repeatedly into the net. Smurfs are garbage people. Doing a nice thing or two doesn't make them not total jerks for ruining people's games before that
"Teamate is the same rank as you"
Srry but no. Being gold and getting placed on a team with unranked dudes is so goddamn common.
This just happened to me four games in a row and I lost 3 of them because my teammates were doing the oposite of what this video was talking about. Im not perfect in anyway but one thing I do is not hesitate.
@@cheeseymafia ^^^^
Unranked doesn’t mean they are not gold..... the game works off of MMR and they are around the same MMR as you hence why you match with them
@@nickstiltson1180 Use bakke's mod, u can see if they are high enough to be at ur rank.
@@nickstiltson1180 I one hundred percent agree that the game works off of MMR but having the same MMR does not mean that they are at the same skill level. I seem to get all of the players that got carried to the same MMR as me on my team. The MMR system needs improvements for sure.

Wayton: *makes entire video on how to solo queue as a good teammate*

Me, who actually plays better by doing so 🤷
I was about to start solo queue and I searched for "rocket leauge" in RUclips and that's a perfect video lol
"rockey leauge"
car langauge is so underrated, thanks for adressing it
So it's NOT my teammate's fault when he:
-scores an own goal
-misses easy shots
-doesn't rotate back in time
-makes stupid decisions
-blocks me when i'm trying to save a shot
-backflips when he's supposed to save an easy shot
-double commits
-bumps me
-ballchases
-camps in net for no reason
-goes for boost, instead of making an easy save
-tries to shoot from a tight angle, instead of passing
Thanks, I learned a lot.
My thoughts exactly.
Virge says to always assume your teammate will miss and to have a plan for if or when they do, and everything else you said goes really well with that. I really enjoyed this video. I am a new subscriber and I've found you to be quite similar to Sir Timbers, who stopped uploading 2 years ago (rip). I love the content, PLEASE keep it up :)))
The problem is my teammates
Im gold and in a training pack I got an air dribble double flip reset musty flick goal...
How am I gold?
I tested a theory I had. I played 20 games and in 17 of them, at least 1 of my teammates scored at least one own goal. In 15 of them at least 1 of my teammates missed at least one open net. And in 18 of them at least 1 of my teammates missed at least one easy save.
Hmmm... I wonder what the problem could be...
I think i deserve platinum 1 or 2
Also I carried my teammates to come 2nd in 4 platinum tournaments and I even got to Diamond 1 tournament rank. My teammates scored 7 goals in total and I scored 22. My teammates got 12 saves in total and I got 35...
@Wayton Pilkin dude at the first example, even if you would have failed your airdribble there is still no need for his mate to dive in, he should just rotate back to secure the goal or be patient about what happens next. So yeav flip resets might be risky but the mistake is still from his braindead mate who dives in for no reason...
The failed air dribbler still left his teammate in a 2v1 even if the guy you are talking about stayed back
I Stumbled Across The Most Underrated Rl RUclipsr.
I just get really tilted when I get teammates who have a hard time rotating. They will double commit even when I give them space to do stuff with the ball. The second I get it...well, so does my teammate apparently. If I trust them...they fuck up. If I don't trust them, we end up double committing. This might be the most tilting game known to man.
Yesterday my teammate started out afk and we basically started down by 2 goals. We brought it back to 5-5 and in the last 15 seconds I got a bad read on a ball and they scored. He blamed the loss on me :)
The very worst kind of teammate
Ok so this might have been useful 4 years ago but not nowadays, people know EXACTLY what a flip reset is.
5:48 if you’ve played volleyball literally ever you’ve experienced this
idk about the flip reset one, if I see my teammate mess up an air dribble, I'll usually wait for a defender to clear it back to me, as they don't normally take control in a position like that. Even at Grand champ.
Every year I get hardstuck in a new rank 😂my first years from 2017-2019 bronze because I was casual main. 2020 silver 3 all year. 2021 I was in gold 2-3. 2022 Jan 1 I am plat 1 so uhhhhh guess I’ll be ssl in 4 and a half years🤣.
Really great vid Boss. Thanks for saying what I've always said..."we're the same rank for a reason".
As someone who has climbed rank relatively quickly compared to the amount of hours/games played (I'm in Diamond with about 250 total hours played), I know that I mechanically am not as strong as others. However, I offset that by using gameplay knowledge and strategy to keep up with the more mechanically talented guys. I rotate back more, play towards my teammates strong points, and give them all the opportunities to do what they do best. If they are amazing at getting goals, I will look for a cross or a pass to them whenever i can. If they are good at setting up shots, then I will position myself for their passes. If they are godlike goalies, I will play super aggressive. With all that being said, I always put my trust in my teammates to help (even if they have been making bad plays), as I've found out that sometimes only one good team play can be enough of a switch for them to start popping off. Trust your teammates, they want to win as much as you do, so help them as much as you'd want them to help you.
NO! Lower your rank to silver or gold and try to raise it back in solo standart! You can be a god, but your chance of winning will be 100% envious of the team, you will be bumped, score in your own goal, chase, afk, 80% will not hit the ball (many fakes for you), no one will ever defend their goal.
PREACH brotha!
This new breed of d3-c1 with great mechanics but game sense and positioning of a plat 1 that thinks they have to carry everyone and they point out your low score as they play 3s like 1s bc they have good mechanics and can put ball where they want it.
It dont matter lil dude with half our Play time who has spent more time doing flip resets than they have in game the entire last season.
Only new players new fancy showy mechanics in high level comp. most plats can air dribble better than most champs. But only 5% of those plots ever become a champ lol
Everything you said is so spot on I don’t wanna ramble but I just wish people would listen and humble themselves and stop looking at how many pints they have unless they have double everyone else’s which in that case they are f’ing up big time and cutting rotation and double commiting and steaming ball from teammates if they do a change up or a ‘fake panic’ after like 0.01 seconds because they are 2 ft behind you cheering the other team on to knock ball away for you so they can get ball to... not pass... shoot. And after that no no no that’s my rebound even though I’m on ground with no boost and you’re coming in diagonally like a jet on ball to laser theball sized space behind them on far post since they came up a lil too far... but showboat plat who measures success in touches and meaningless points that reward them for pretending like their team doesn’t exist until their “dog jumped on lap” or that “lag spike” that made them show their true colors but blame the guy who should have got that touch in the first place for. It being in goal for save where he was expected to be
But then again those people aren’t here they’re probably on like Linkurus channel beating off to the only girl they saw in the last week when he had to expose himself to others i order to get the Mountain Dew flavor that Amazon was out of stock of which normally auto ship on guilt divorced dad who lives in Costa Rica with two girlfriends who he also beats off to in his head but can’t remember what they looked like very well since his brain won’t let him look at petty girls.
But “Fuhhhk this reminds feels like the bronze server I started out in when I started 6 months again ago. How’d I get here... wow you’re a rocket demigod bronZe: trash... if you’re a real champ do a linked ceiling shot double touch with flip reset redirect right now... oh you can’t... trash. *attenpts that shot. Which is readable like litterally 15 seconds in advance of when the balk gets there and he hand over possession and the 3guys redirect a couple times until they got the 2 guys struggling to maintain fluid back post goal defense with 2 dudes. U TRASHHH. I bet you can’t even do a half flip. Asks about 20 times for you to do half flip while getting scored on while he’s typing and blames the guy who is at least where he’s supposed to be but with no one to relieve him he gets cut to pieces by real champs doing nothing but slinging ball around til you flinch then shooting into the exact space you just moved from and doing it again and again until that dude gets possesion then going back and waiting for him to literally what amounts to placing the ball into their hands and then unplugging controller for 5-10 seconds then coming back with no boost only to see the flock of champs just cycling so damn fast until just the 2 guys find themselves without boot and too far to get save
Over and over again.
I’m sick of it. If those dudes would just watch 1 replay and then search the internet for how to play rocket league after champ they actually would’ve very good players so hopefully they see this.
If any of you are reading this don’t play rocket league until you fix your errors. Just stick to doing some drills or something simple like q’ing ones. Then when you figure out the team play aspect I’m 2s and 3s you can go back to playing actual rocket league with an actual team that doesn’t just get in your way but actually do thing like help you if u let them
If you play solo standard, you may be lucky to find yourself on a team with two of these guys just fighting physically and verbally to the point where it becomes like a 1v1v? Game and those two guys are basically playing 1v1s where they share a goal and whoever scores gets goal for their team.
If this happens just set your controller so that car stays moving and walk away. Come back in 5 minutes and save the gold that is that replAy and moments like once where my car randomly driving around actually hit ball that went it and the 1 guy was so focused on just that one other rando tm8 that he called me
Shot trash and how he doesn’t know how I got to that rank with 40 something pin ya sever minutes in.
Note, that my car had literally driving straight for entire game and even kickoffs which they bumped me out of way to get thinking I was just slow. But these f’ing guys literally had the game sense /awareness of a puppy to not notice that your teammate had been driving straight all game -up balls and down of ceilings with no recoveries or boost. I swear to god too when I watched replay one of them said like that’s why I don’t follow strict rotations (talking about me just driving straight perpetually at same speed 5 minute.
I thought of an idea you could do for a video/s.
Basically, you get two clips, different levels of gameplay (say grand champion against plat or diamond) that are roughly in the same clip and you compare the differences between the two levels in the clip (how the better rank was in a better position or how they approached the play in a better way). Similar to a regular analysis, but you’re comparing clips from two completely different skill levels.
May not be a great idea but it’s my suggestion!
You know, I'm a high Diamond player, so I'm pretty decent but certainly not spectacular, and I was very happy to see that I pretty much already do all of these. I think I'm a good example of how effectively game sense and team play work, because I have the mechanics of probably a low plat, but I play in champ lobbies all the time (I play in a lobby with my little brother a lot) and I can always keep up with them pretty well. It has always bothered me how little people appreciate these things, so keep fighting the good fight Wayton
Tries the backboard thing.
Teammate is AFK.
Other teammate doesn't go for the shot and is on our side of the field for no reason leaving me in a 3v1.
He spams 'What a save!' for me 'missing'.
Never again.
I meen I get this video but because of me ranking Up before the free 2 play came out. I got Gold 3 in 2s wich I have lost because the new players r still bronze and their playstyle and mechanics is just bad. I often win just by having an ok teammate compared to the opposing team. I really need a good plat 2s player to play with because I know Im more than a stupid gold 2.
You're like SunlessKhans little brother, your style is amazing and you need to keep uploading for your fanbase to grow, great video!
When he says stop going for flip resets, he means the players that are mechanically good but have low game sense.
well the thing is my teammates are probably not watching this video and instead trying to learn triple flip resets when they cant put the ball on their car
Another thing i think is important for how to be a good teammate is adaptability so lets say your teammate is aggressive you play slightly more supportive or passive
Sub to sunlesskhan so he brings back his old series “why you suck at rl”
Bruh fr I’m diamond 2 but literally my team8s can’t even aerial I honestly don’t even know how they got in my rank
So many quality rocket league youtubers are making an appearence and I love it. Thanks for making great content!
When u have played so many matches and trusted so many tm8s and they make u loose by missing the ball every time or thinking they are good at freestyling when theyre crap. Its hard to trust them because u are used to them missing and making the other team win. This is my life in rocket league for you
Thank you for this video. I hope I gonna be a better teammate for others. (And sorry for my english.)
The 121 dislikes 100%, come from the people who didn't listen to the video and still think their teammates are always trash

I'm so confused... The pros say you have to move unexpectedly so it's harder for the enemy to read you, but this video says you need to be predictable for your teammates to read you. 🙄 Maybe the first part is only for 1v1s...

Walton, Buddy.... boy did I need this because I’m an asshole in Solo Q
I don't agree with #5. Going for flip resets is fine as long as you have variety to your plays in the air.
Wayton I was playing 2s this morning and I had a diamond 1 teammate and I won, but I am only platinum 2 in 2s.
no matter what you cannot predict plats, some are godlike and others just got carried
I scored 6 goals against a team the other day. It was 6-1. My team mate self goaled 3 times. Was hanging out at the corner boost most of the time and everytime they had the ball they shot it against a wall as hard as they could to the other team. In addition they crashed into me often. Usually when I was about to score or make a save. They were a one car wrecking crew. Should I trust that team mate? I'll go work on myself cuz it's definitely my fault. SMH. It's ok once in a while to just admit. Yes .....it's your team mates fault. I just use those games as trainng.
Oh yeah we lost 8-6 after my team mate own goaled for the 3rd time and then quit. After they had taken the lead of course. Also I used no chat and was not toxic. I said things like nice try, etc. Doesn't matter when your team mate is terrible.
I've been GC since season 10, and I seem to have made a lot of friends around platinum who always ask for tips and how to improve. 9/10 times, they say the famous lines "all my teammates suck! I should be a higher rank but I'm held back by bad teammates!"... And every time I hear that, I say "if every teammate you get is bad, the common factor is you". I give them basically the same tips you've made in this video, but this just drives home my point even further, and I'll GLADLY be sending this exact video who ever tells me in DMs that "my teammates are all garbage". Cheers!
Xenro66 true I finally got out of plat and am now diamond. All of these tips are good but the key for me was to never get toxic no matter how many mistakes I or the teammate make. And always be positive in chat. This will make everyone play better
You're right, I'm also the common factor on my wins, meaning they are crap, since I've been in every win I had, therefore I'm the reason for them.
This guy needs more subs. YOUYUBE FIX IT !!!!!!!!!!
6:20 I’m sorry but who saves it like that my gosh dude you just centered it
But my teammates ruin my goals and score against us
little did he know that 4:58 would become a meme...
Any tips on how to grow as a small rl youtuber?
Its good that you tried to make this video, bjt this is very inrellevant for golds/plats. The skill gap in gold/plat is so big that you can 1 game get carried, 1 game have a solid tm8, and the other 8 games you get a tm8 who is less experienced or very bad. then you also have the factor of who you play against, which in my experience i play more against people with better chenistry when i solo que, en play against people with less chemistry wheb i play with someone. So if someone says he keeps getting bad tm8s, you dont have to flame him/her bc it can be verytrue
true
I completely agree except that trust is different for different ranks. For example I recently went from d1 (an all time low for the last while) to c1 and the biggest difference was trust. In champ I would spread as far out giving them the most space to pass to me and giving myself the most time with it, but in d1 I needed to stay closer because the vast majority of tm8s couldn't pass well enough across the field, if they passed at all (as their awareness isn't as good). Same with defense. In champ when one person goes for a save the other m8s go to either get boost or follow up, but in diamond you had to stay closer in case a save was botched and not spread to pass to a tm8 as often they wouldn't be passed to.
Yeah d1 is trash all around i was stuck in plat for a year because i would get teammates that would miss a ball going 20 mph towards the net only difference between gold and diamond is they can hit the ball higher up lol
I researched this 3 times this helps a lot. Thanks Wayton!
I don’t think overdoing flip resets is a problem, you can tell when a play will be a solo play or a pass. So tip 5 is really more for players below high c3. A good or decent player will be able to tell when a solo play will be made and know you don’t have to push at all, just wait for nothing to happen or a cleanup goal. He’ll also know that even if it looks like he missed the “air dribble” as you mentioned, going for a double commit like that will result in the opponents scoring. I think it would be better to tip not going for every ball on offense and waiting to see how a play develops. Being patient is also something truly important.
but also not TOO patient lol. Rocket league is so hard for anyone trying to get better. So many little tidbits which make the game harder to learn
Exactly what i need. Grad vid!
I'm just a bit confused here. So I've been told in other videos, probably yours, that's it's often better not to rush a decision and rather wait and strike at the right moment. But now I should just go for it?
Thats the problem with Rocket League, its that advice like this shouldnt be taken at surface level because all advice is situational realistically. So best bet is for you take both advice into account and learn when to use that advice at the right times
But wayton, all my tm8s ball chase and don’t have a brain
It’s called the Tom Brady effect, u make ur teammates better.
No I refuse to accept any responsibility it is all my teammates fault
I did the subscribe thing, thanks for the little tutorial on how to do it :)
