      @signedupfordoconly4275 instead of just getting on everyday, doing whatever in freeplay and just "trying my best" in ranked instead of playing a bunch of casual I developed a daily training routine for consistent resets, dribbles, shooting (lots of shooting), double taps, aerial shot placement etc, and I'd do all of that via either training packs or freeplay. Only reason I ever do training packs is because the situations in some training packs aren't really easy or worth it to set up, plus if you can score a read on 50 backboard shots in a pack you can easily score the slightly different angle shots. For autopiloting during games I'd literally just either do a tiny bit of slow mo before a match or after every goal I'd make sure I wouldn't say "oh that's stupid" or "that's my teamates fault" or "what am I doing?" I'd make sure I pointed out SOMETHING I could've gone differently, because at the end of the day even if your teamate own goals there's some sort of better rotation you could've made 10, 20, 30 seconds before that would've caused the entire play no have never happened. Also obviously I wasn't going to explain all of this in the post? You say it's like a given I have to fckin provide replay evidence of my consistency over time to make my claim valid. At the very least I get on and do my 1 to 2 hour daily training even if I don't play any games after. If i do play games the priority list is 1v1>2v2>anything else.

      @signedupfordoconly4275 by basics I just meant anything I could already kind of do I wanted to get consistent, rather than going for a quad reset that I will usually miss why not focus and master the single reset, the carry, scoop, placement, everything

    Something people need to realise is with mechanics, consistency if not mastery of the base fundamental mechanics is vital before moving onto advance mechanics, so many players have a disfigured mechanics tree, where they can flip reset without even air dribbling, or can air dribble without even being able to dribble. The amount of players that don’t know how to dribble, which is vital in every game is kind of mind boggling.

    I started my RL journey a few months ago and I remember watching a certain creator telling me "NEED TO KNOW MECHANICS FOR EACH RANK" and it felt very overwhelming but I swore it didn't feel accurate. A few months of playing and I am currently D3 a few games from champ! I have a buddy who is GC and I recently played a few games with him for the first time and he told me my boost management, rotation, and positioning were miles ahead of my actual rank and man I feel it. Almost every goal I give up is me intentionally going for a mechanic and messing it up and almost never from me being out of position/not having enough boost/etc. It's hard too because I tried looking for replay reviews on the learning sub but almost every comment was "you need to learn this mechanic" or "you need to be able to wall to air dribble" etc. Obviously I am training those things and I can feel my rank increasing as I get more successful with these mechanics but almost no one talks about rotating/positioning/boost management/etc. and it's quite annoying lol.

    Mechanics are a good thing to learn still, having the ability to air dribble and flip reset will help, especially at the higher ranks. When people bring up having not many mechanics they always bring up monkeymoon, but mm actually has great mechanics he just doesn't constantly use them but they still bring him a lot of use in game.
    The advice here is fine but just dont take mechanics as useless or whatever since they can help get you a step up on people. Rotating and positioning is super important but mix that with mechanics and you have a good spot in game. Learn positions and rotation first than get mechanical when they start to matter more.

    Literally the main thing wrong with rocket league these days. I've been playing for 8 years and started out playing regularly with friends. As we levelled up, it was because we all improved these fundamentals by simply playing game after game. Even if you solo queued 4 years ago, all your teammates in diamond were at an equal level in terms of fundamentals. Nowadays, you get so many people who've only been playing for 2 years and basically learned everything they know from grinding free play. Yeah they are mechanical gods and doing things I will never be able to do even after 8 years of playing but at least I'm a very reliable and consistent player for my level. None of my old school friends play anymore so I'm left solo queueing in champ mostly with these new school players who just want to clip like Zen. They are so inconsistent and unreliable that you end up losing a lot of games for the most basic mistakes. They ball chase like gold players, they can't reach simple saves because haven't learned how to rotate. They can't manage their boost in game, using everything they have trying to score a flip reset goal. There's zero passing or team plays just constant individual mechanical plays. They've focused way too much on mechanics to help them climb the ranks but it's impossible to develop these fundamentals in free play on your own. It's the most frustrating thing while playing rocket league to see people so much better than you mechanically but losing the game because you weren't able to get the basics together as a team. Obviously their usual response to the loss is that it was my fault because I'm not able to flip reset and that I need to uninstall the game or 1v1 them to reinflate their ego and confirm their belief that mechanics are better than old school fundamentals.

    Personally I think Ball Chasing is a result from young gamers, or gamers in general that hadn't played organized sports in real life. Which is why positioning when you're not involved in the play is probably a hard concept to grasp. Imagin if kids played basketball in this manner, 2 feet from whoever possesses the ball (Teamates included) Trying to get every rebound which involves overpowering a teammate. I think if you played sports as a kid you quickly learn some team sport common sense that you don't always see in Rocket League.

      Even funnier, imagin playing Counter Strike, and your teammate is always following you, never walks tho, always runs. Also will shoot to kill a member from the other team, even if that means through you. Can't seem to see any flaw in said playing style, and insists it's everyone else's fault when he looses.

Why do people feel they need to grab corner boost on kickoff when there's plenty of boost between them and the ball? I see this at D3/C1 levels and think it's simply asinine. Seeing this in SSL makes me wonder: Am I missing something or is it actually a garbage decision?
    On topic, I can say for certain that if you just put 20 minutes a day into a training pack like Shots You Shouldn't Miss, it makes a huge difference. It's the whiffs that really hurt when you get to a rank where your teammates start to read the plays and moving to position based on a touch that's not yet happened.

    try solo queing 3s in diamond 1 ives spent the better part of 500+ hours in the training room and have made zero improvments but when i play against my champ 3 friends with over 6000 hours in the game i win because of the exact points you've made. the game finally pushed me over the edge 3 days ago and for the first time with over 2000 hours combined with consol when i got the game on release i deleted it. i cant compete with cracked out kids on aderall with brain dead teammates, it sucks because this is my all time favorite game but its just not even fun anymore. good luck to everyone out there pushing ranks.

    Im the opposite of the norm i have shit mechanics(only 400 hours though so expected) but always have been good at positioning and rotating. Im champ. Half the time i just watch the other team do fancy stuff and wait for them to over do it and over commit then just shoot the ball on their net lol.

    Heres the real advice. SSL is for a different breed of humans. I wouldnt go for SSL unless i was a highly skilled musician or artist.

    • @ElixirVlixur
      @ElixirVlixur Месяц назад +2

      SSL Is possible for anyone who doesn't have actual hardware holding them back (delay, controller drift on low deadzones etc) it's just that it's really hard to have time to get really good at mechanics if you also want to hit ssl at the same time. My goal is gc1 to gc 2 (I'm c3 atm) and then just consistently stay at that rank while getting cracked freestyle mechanics.

      @@ElixirVlixur may I ask how much mmr do u have currently? I was trying to rank up to gc1 too last season but I only got to 1389 or so. Do you have an advice by any chance? jajaj

    • @ElixirVlixur
      @ElixirVlixur Месяц назад

      @frana1437 I just got ranked like a day or two ago so I'm only like 1320 rn, I've never hit gc but my peak is around 1389, but I know I can hit gc this season or the next. I'd genuinely say it's a lot about making sure you are consistent with everything you try to do in your ranked games (ie don't go for triple resets if you can't hit them 19 out of 20 times) keep possession, don't boom the ball away but also try not to make a meaningless attack that does nothing except give the ball away, if you go for a bad air dribble and they save it they just get possession so it's basically the same thing (again make sure you're consistent and good at anything you go for) play 1v1s atleast a little and try analyze your rotations in replays as annoying as it is, make sure you don't do it right after a loss tho, I'd say review replays from the day before because I was kind of ignoring my positioning and rotations for like over a year and I didn't rank up at all during that time cuz I just assume my rotations "weren't that bad"

    Ummm bro showing air mechs constantly when saying you dont need air mechs. Yes, of course you can get far without most of the fancy mechs. It doesn't excuse the fact that you still need many hours to refine even the simpler air mechs and counters. Use freeplay, just know how to use freeplay. Training packs are almost useless. Bruce Lee once said, Karate is stiff and relies on the opponent making a cetain move for you to counter it.
    A lot of Training packs are perfect setups or playing from a certain position. When you play in real games, you dont have the chance for perfect setups handed to you. Train in freeplay but just know how to train, and you will do fine.
