Weirdly enough I now feel bad for Buggy when he first met Luffy and saw that Shanks gave Roger's hat to a random kid. He probably felt shattered after learning that Shanks not only didn't do what he promised Buggy he would do but then he seemingly gave up their collective dream entirely in exchange for some random nobody in the east blue
Yeah man.. I been feeling buggy for a long time. Dude aint evil. He had a reason i never thought it was the map or the fruit. Like it always had to shanks fucked him over. Not that shanks really did anything wrong. But buggy believed in him and was crushed. Buggys rise was precariously ridiculous.. It was hard and it involved alot of misplaced anger. Buggy is literally the best character. Usopp second. Garp third. These dudes being challenged emotionally mentally and physically constantly. I feel for them. My strongest connections are with these characters. Very very well written

I think my favorite part of Buggy in the last chapter is that everyone expects Shanks or Luffy to be that second coming of Roger and instead of Roger's will being passed down to Shanks, it was actually Buggy who was the one to have the Roger moment to confirm to a massive amount of people that their dreams are important and the One Piece being real. You could argue that Buggy's speech could have inspired the next pirate era right then and there, just like Roger or Whitebeard did. Which is both hilarious and fantastic for his character.
considering Buggys words only really reached his crew, I DOUBT this will kick off the "next pirate era" the same way as Roger did. It won't lead to more pirate crews popping up and sailing at their own leisure. But it marks the point where all 4 Yonko are now actively going after the One Piece again, and Buggy DOES have the presumably biggest pirate crew in the world of One Piece, which with them now going after the One Piece will obviously have some effect as well. But it's not like the effect Roger had.
For the longest time I have thought that Buggy might accidentally find Laughtale, gets shipwrecked from his crew and when Luffy and the gang land Buggy is sitting there asking for a lift off the island not even knowing it was Laughtale to begin with
Am pretty sure buggy can be use as a becon or a compass needle to find the island. Am pretty sure in the Oden flashback it was mentioned buggy getting a if-i-go-to-this-island-am-going-to-die sickness so shank like a bro stayed with his sick friend missing the chance to go with Roger to the island. So if buggy still have the sickness you could see how much he is dying to know your going the right way.
I see well renowned streamers who comment about buggy failing upwards but still seem to roll their eyes or act surprised at his importance in the story.
For the first time ever, Buggy has shown us that spark. Not cowardice or a will to survive, but true ambition and the desire to gun for the top. It's the same fire Luffy always has, and recognizing that fire in Buggy was unexpected, but it won so much respect.
He's always had a spark for adventure. His pivotal moment where he got the chop chop powers he was about to abandon ship to seek out some treasure on a map. His motivation to help Luffy in Impel Down was spurred on by the piece Luffy had on his arm, which turned out to be a way to find some more treasure. Now, at 1082, Buggy has set his sights on the One Piece as a new quest to be the best. As he observed, to have power, you need wealth, but to have wealth, you need power. Mihawk and Crocodile would be stuck trying to figure out how to gather that. The One Piece circumvents all this as anyone could get it if they have the ambition.
Remember when Oda said that Shanks and Buggy had similar potential but Buggy didn’t apply himself? Well we are about to see what happens when Buggy goes all out and I’m soooo excited! Buggy’s always been a favorite but this one chapter added so much depth to his character! Buggy Lore all 2023 let’s go!
@@MrPF I think hes been using some type of conquerors haki unknowingly. He seems to have an even stronger version of Luffy's ability to get people to join his side. Where, while people join luffy's side they aren't always happy about it and they just share a common goal (like Kidd, and Law), people who follow Buggy revere him and are willing to do anything for him. To me that ability seems to have some kind of a relationship to conquerors haki because how are you going to be a king, if there is no one to follow..,
And the best thing is that, even if he won't become a powerhouse, Buggy could definitively get a Power Up out of this. Across the New World, and especially in the last hundred or so chapters, we have been being told something very important: What matters more than anything, more than any fruit, weapon, or skills, is the Haki. The WILL. The Haki is the Will itself of the person, it can be trained and polished, of course, but in the end it's the Willpower of the user. If with this Buggy gets up, determination on his eyes that won't go away, one capable of standing up against frigging Crocodile and Mihawk... That would be a damn strong willpower from him, a damn strong Haki. He would surely still be the weakest of the three, but he could genuinelly become strong if he applied himself from now on. Just... Just... This quality of writing... Dammit, I love One Piece XD.
Could you imagine Buggy getting to Laughtale first, only to realise that he's too early himself. I can just imagine it, a page with his face in the same position as Roger's, only crying as he realizes just why Shanks didn't go in the first place.
I love that Buggy doesn't want to fight the Yonkos but outwit them to the One Piece. Him having Mihawk & Crocodile is enough to handle to Marines or Pirates. Edit: Let's not forget Shanks spoke with Roger after he returned from One Piece. Shanks gives the impression he already knows what the one piece is & just gatekeeping.
Yes that last point is very important. Personally, ever since Marineford and that one scene he has with the Gorosei, I have this feeling that Shanks is not an Emperor just because he likes being a free pirate, or because of Gol D. Roger, no. I think its because out of all the pirates in One Piece, Shanks is the only one who wants to keep world order, or more so he wants to keep the world the way it is. And if someone like Luffy, Buggy or some other pirate were to find the One Piece, they would also discover some hidden truth that would literally throw the entire world into chaos. We already have civilians killing wanted Marines. The Revolutionary Army is about to find out all of Sabo's info. Garp now truly exists and Buggy is literally going YOLO and gonna find the One Piece without any of the Ponoglyphs. If the One Piece is found....then I wouldn't be surprised if the WG goes full nuclear and kills anyone who dare question their authority. The next chapter will either be at least pretty solid or absolutely bonkers.

Scene when he saw Luffy in Gear 5 & immediately thought back to stopping the WG from getting the Nika fruit speaks volumes. Shanks always knew what it was & that's because he knows what the One Piece is. He did speak to Rayleigh later in years & could have easily asked him.

When Shanks met up with Whitebeard, the fact that Whitebeard remembered Buggy the Clown was kind of a feat for Buggy. Can’t imagine Whitebeard remembering every apprentice he saw 20+ years ago
This chapter really puts into perspective Shanks's reaction during Marineford arc. To Shanks, he thought their rift was because of his indecision to become the PK but here was Buggy claiming a different reason for hating Shanks.
I think the real reason why Shanks backing down from going straight to the one piece has a connection to that momment where he cried after Roger's coming back from Laughtale and he asked Roger something. Shanks knew something almost evrrybody did not.
What if shanks rolls up to Cross guild and just says "hey buggy! I am going to Laughtale, you still wanna go? I can't go without you!" And buggy without missing a beat just joins him. Leaving Cross guild to be what they actually are. And it scares the elders like when big mom and kaido made an alliance. Shanks is going for the one piece and I don't think he is the type of person to forget a promise.
Maybe a while ago buggy would have gone, but I think now he would tell shanks to get sailing without him, he's going to get that treasure by his own merits
I could see mihawk joining too tbh crocodile joins revolutionary though beforehand with mr 1. I see buggy crew though coming along but i see alvida running his ship and buggy and mihawk go on shanks ship. It gives shanks a yonko level crew(he already has it but he doesn’t have like actual ships like how big mom kaido and whitebeard had but since now teach and luffy are yonko it like a mirror to the new era of yonko being smaller crews.) buggy mihawk and shanks(maybe even marco) get to laugh tale find the true history of the world and shanks is like hahhahahahha yk what luffy ain’t getting this anymore i whenever he returns my hat I’ll defeat him type shit and buggy is actually the one to save luffy or returns the hat ion see blackbeard anymore being the villain only bc luffy is now a sun god and too op but shanks still isn’t written enough to say hes weak
honestly what I think is going to happen is that buggy and shanks will see each other at laugh tale and Shanks will just tell Buggy he never doubted Buggy would make it because a promise is a promise which I feel is more true to Shanks
I know people joke about the whole treasure map thing, but it might be symbolic as well. By going back on his word Shanks took away what Buggy saw as his opportunity for adventure, he wanted something or someone to help guide him in his adventures and that got taken away once he lost his trust in the same way he lost his treasure map
I really liked Buggy's post time skip design where he has the giant tent for a body, it's really simple how he does it, but his anime introduction with it made it look even cooler, I'm hoping with the character development that he gets in the future he becomes even more flashy and becomes a more serious contender for Pirate King
I really want Buggy AND Shanks to reach Laugh Tale. Obviously I want Luffy to be the one to find the One Piece, but I want to see Buggy and Shanks reaching that final island.
I could definitely see, like, all of the emperors are on their way to Laugh Tale, or at least the Strawhats and Redhair pirates... and then in comes Buggy and as soon as he sees Rogers ship he sees red and they go at it, leaving the Strawhats and any other crew potentially in the running in the lead, and their fight is gonna end with Shanks and Buggy reconciling and them together arriving late on Laugh Tale, also giving the Strawhats some time to deal with anyone else in their way and find the One Piece first.
Just went and rewatched the Oden flashback episodes and I now sympathizes with Buggy's feelings. They (Buggy and Shanks) went through so much growing up together. To have his admiration for Roger along with seeing and coming to terms with Shanks being Roger's successor at that time but be told we are not finishing our captain's dream had to hurt. Not to mention he was also denied the chance to see the treasure due to "If I go to that island I'll die" illness has to feel bad man. His time will come. RISE THE CLOWN GOD OF THE PIRATES!!!!!
would be fun if Buggy is Rocks child and Rocks made a similar failing upwards. Thats how Rocks got the most powerfull crew in history, Buggy repeating his fathers story.
Buggy really shows something important about bounties and status that people like to ignore. What matters most to be a big leader isn't strenght, it's charisma. Being able to inspire and lead people to a common goal. To me he isn't a "joke Yonko", he is a legit Yonko.
Oda loves to have things that are seen as jokes have very real ramifications in the story. Sanji's poster, the fireleg passion power. I can see oda making buggy the ringmaster of some final battle making it so the whole world knows what is happening in the final battle and somehow make that have tangible benefits only Buggy could provide.

Now that the end is near, I'm feeling the nostalgia of watching your old videos and theories, when you were in the old studio, when Barry wasn't even here. I genuinely want buggy to get some sort of power up (not really enough to stand up to mihawk or crocodile, but enough to be respectable) given he is regaining his will and passion, inherited will and all that common theme in one piece, he does have the same charismatic magnet that luffy has even if it's luck, his strength is in his allies, and most of his power is political, just with a bit of actual raw power could be enough to cement his position, have him take on a small sea king or something, a thing most of high ranking members on his extended yonko crew could do already, but with flashiness turned up to 11
Thing to remember is buggy had a map to the Grand Line. He was already planning to go even before he ran into Luffy. And it's not like he went to chase Luffy, buggy went looking for captain John's treasure
I wonder if Buggy might send a scouting party to the island where he and Shanks stayed while Roger was heading to Laugh Tale. That way, he could find out if it can work as a starting point for his pursuit of the One Piece. If Shanks or the Marines or anybody else getting in his way set up a strong presence on the island, then a scouting party could warn Buggy ahead of time and stop him from sailing into a battle he can otherwise avoid. Not to mention, gathering info on any such setup.
I was honestly impressed by Buggy's flashback, it shows more insight and loyalty from him than he's ever showcased, and I look forward to see just what else Oda has in store for him. Also, Buggy getting to one up Mihawk and Crocodile is both hilarious, genius and awesome in equal measure.
It would make sense that Buggy D Clown finds the One Piece, especially since we know that Roger Laughed. So making They Clown find the One Piece and reveling the joke through him would be an ODA thing to do.
I like the idea of Buggy being abused so much that the overuse of his powers awakens his devil fruit. Buggy being able to split other people and the environment around him apart would be crazy. He clearly wouldn't be Yonko level strong, but at that point he could probably take on most of his crew one on one.
I had a ridiculous theory about the One Piece and Imu that parallels Buggy and Luffy in the beginning of One Piece that I thought could never be true but this last chapter makes it a little more plausible based on Buggy's reaction here and how fast the Cross Guild is growing. It consists of Imu looking ridiculously funny similar to Buggy when Nami tied up his torso and body pieces in Orange Town and he was forced to wander the East Blue in the cover story arc looking goofy. What if Joy Boy, using his awaked his Nika Nika powers, removed some ridiculous part of Imu's body because he was rising to power in a cult-like way, the way Buggy is doing now. During which, Joy Boy made Imu look ridiculously funny and little in the void century. (In this theory Imu is actually tiny due to Joy Boy's powers and the straw hat at Mary Geoise is actually normal sized, we just are meant to believe the hat is huge because we never actually see Imu standing next to someone else for scale reference.) Forcing Imu to hide in the shadows while using his conned cult-like influence to run the world, much like Buggy. Meaning Imu doesn't actually have any powers, his subordinates do. Also, this would make the One Piece actually a piece of Imu's body but it looks so funny it would make anyone laugh at it. Causing Imu to hold an endless grudge towards Joy Boy and everyone from the D clan because they all probably laughed at his ridiculously funny form. Similarly to how Buggy holds a grudge towards people when he thinks they are making fun of his nose. It always seemed funny to me when I first came up with this theory how the Cross Guild symbol actually resembles the world government symbol and how they run the crew like a mini government/business instead of a pirate crew. Or how they made bounties like the marines do for pirates. And how Buggy's main subordinates - Alvida, Mohji, Richie, Cabaji, and Mr. 3 parallel the Gorosei. Or how Crocodile was so interested in Alabasta. Probably similar to how the Alabasta former king centuries ago thought Imu was just a fool like Buggy and just wanted to live in peace away from Imu's nonsense. I doubt any of this is true but it just seemed funny enough to be real in Oda's universe.
You make a good point, but the best part of your "pirates give up on their dreams" is the fact that the Straw Hats each have a different dream. Luffy wants to be King of the Pirates, but everybody else wants something different.They're not supporting him because they gave up on their own dreams, they're supporting him because he's supporting them in their own dreams. This idea basically draws a line between the Straw Hats and every single other pirate crew out there.
Didju know that chelonians are separated into 3 categories, based on their primary habitats? Turtles are marine, terrapins are freshwater, and tortoises are terrestrial; so box turtles are tortoises, and snappers are terrapins. Interestingly, like turtles and terrapins subjectively spend time on land, tortoises apparently possess the ability to swim or paddle between islands!
I'll be honest I think a lot of people in universe, and out of universe really underestimates Buggy, honestly I think Buggy even does it as well. I believe that Buggy is a lot stronger than even he gives himself credit for he was on Roger's Crew for Garp stake. I think Buggy has spend so long beating himself down, and living in fear he's convinced himself that he's really weak. But with Buggy now reigniting that spark in himself I think that would get rid of his biggest limiter on himself. His own fears, and insecurities . Buggy without anything to fear might make him become an even greater threat than anyone could have ever could of logically guess. Cause Buggy is very smart, and very creative. We've seen how skilled he is with the Bara Bara no Mi which is impressive since I personally feel like that would be a hard fruit to master. I'm not saying that Buggy could beat up Crocodile, and Mihawk. But I think Buggy could manage to hatch a brilliant plan that catches everyone off guard.
Buggy failing upwards is such a great thing to see. Also getting mihawk feels like oda wanting to put his idea of Zoro being on his crew from long ago and this working much better after so long My prediction is we will probably see shanks and buggy clash while Blackbeard will bide his time or Luffy vs buggy while shanks and Blackbeard clash to get a true yonko war for the road ponoglyths while the revolutionary army start moving
I'm so happy man. Buggy and Bepo were some of my favorite characters and now they're both somewhat serious characters. They've been given the spotlight they deserve.
I like the idea that the reason shanks and buggy were in the East Blue both pretty close to Foosha village is because thats the island that buggy and Shanks were dropped off at. Shanks remembered it was Foosha but buggy thought it was orange town.

I think Shanks wanted to experience and live in the great Pirate era full of strong pirates. He didn’t want to immediately end the era by finding the one piece (rather he could or not). He wanted to see other Pirates like Luffy and Buggy and even Ace to bloom and see others greatness. Probably because he already knew his own value, he just wanted to see others.
It was obviously because shanks knows about the joyboy prophecy lol even if shanks became pirate king he can’t change the world unlike Luffy can. So he motivates Luffy while waiting near the finish line to make sure Luffy fulfills it

I would actually love to see if in time Buggy actually gains the admiration of Crocodile and Mihawk so in time they will genuinely view him as their captain and seek to help him achieve his dream.
Not a chance, after what they’ve done to him to undermine him. They may come to respect him but I doubt they’ll ever truly be apart of his ‘crew’, purely because I feel Mohawk and crocodile are far to big of independent characters and storylines to just be lumped into cross guild at the end. I think it will most likely remain an alliance but yknow oda I could be completely and utterly wrong
@@kianseery but that’s the whole fun of the idea. Would anyone have guessed Buggy would become a warlord or a Yonko. The guy just keeps failing up. So the next step is for his charm to win over the actual strength of the cross guild. A sort of, he may be a pathetic idiot, but he’s our pathetic idiot. His earnestness to pursue his dream despite being so grossly out class relights the fire that made Crocodile want to challenge Whitebeard head on and Mihawks drive to be the best swordsman in the world.
I think it wasn't so much the putting together of the crew or the dangers that stopped Shanks. He was ready for that, had basically seen a lot of what the seas had to offer. It was more about probably whatever Roger said to him. Whatever it was stopped Shanks from carrying out his original dream. And I think much of this has been put into motion from that point.
There was a fan drawing on the One Piece subreddit where the artist jokingly had Buggy fighting and winning against Jesus Burgess by using his Awakened Bara Bara abilities. If Buggy can do to other people what he does to himself, he effectively has the same ability as Law's Amputate, perhaps even more powerful.
I always felt like Buggy will have his shining moment, but like a big one, whether it is having the pirate king title for a moment or being the first to reach/find the One Piece or something else that Oda is planning. This chapter encourage this idea, and do you guys remember that when Stampede came out Naito the editor at that time said that all the staff of the movie felt like watching the end of the series, oda said that the end will be even better than this but we can understand what they were talking about because stampede is litterally a battle royal for the "abandoned" treasure of Gol D. roger which is similar to what is happening right now with a lot of characters in action. And what is happening in Stampede ? In stampede Buggy is the first to reach the treasure, even if it is for 30 seconds in the movie he is the first one to reach it and he opened the box and saw the eternal pose for Laugh Tale. So i think something similar will happen in this big war in the manga !
I’m going to say this now. If Buggy plays some pivotal role in the defeat of the main villain (whether it be Black Beard or Imu), like he just awakens his devil fruit, I would honestly cry tears of joy.
Now that Buggy got his ambition back, I can see him unlocking Haki and it turned out he had potential to be strong, not as much as Shanks but enough to be formidable in the seas. If he unlocks Conqueror’s in a really hype and emotional scene where he knocks out either Marines or Pirates, it would be really amazing. Or just imagine him doing that in front of the other Yonko and they realize that Buggy is definitely a threat and take him seriously
I feel like because buggy did this, the cross guild is gonna expand because of this. I just can't see the guild being this hard carried by Mihawk and Crocodile. That's why I think we are gonna see a ton of old characters returning to join the guild for the race for the one piece. Like I could see the following joining: Shiki (Oda wouldn't show him in wano for no reason) Neo M.A.D.S Moria and Perona Arlong Don Krieg and Gin Doflamingo and Bon clay(if they break into impell down) And this is a little out there, but I think it makes sense, I think Johnny and Yasaki are gonna be guys who capture marine bounties for the cross guild. I could be wrong, but I definitely think the guild needs more power.
Making a big detour to break into impale down is very time consuming but has the potential to pay off big time. The marines would hate it and it could boost their power and reputation. Honestly I'm in favor of this.

In regards to Shanks and Buggy being present when the Roger pirates pin-pointed LaughTale. I assumes when Shanks told Beckman that they were going to claim the One Piece, that they would just go to Laugh Tale and had no need for the Road Ponyglyphs, as I assumed that Shanks alreaady knew where it was. But what if Shanks simply forgot it and Buggy actually remembers LaughTale's location. this could make for a fun gag, where Buggy just go's like "Ow I already knew where Laugh Tale is, let's go there right now."
I would love for Buggy to reveal the location of Laugh Tale to Croc and Mihawks with some stupid reason as to why he know it. Something like "I peeked at the map on my way to take a shit in the middle of night."
This chapter is perfect to me, I haven't laughed that hard at OP in a long time, and it's always Buggy that gets the laughs rolling. And not only that, it adds a real third dimension to Buggy's character
Dude that alligator snapping turtle picture brought backs some memories. When I was a kid I remeber watching this show named Call of the Wildman. It follows an exterminator named Ernie who'd catch all sorts of animals across the south, especially snapping turtles.

Buggy would greatly benefit Mihawk and Crocodile’s characters. Crocodile’s goal to build a military state seems rather hollow compared to chasing the dream to find one piece. Mihawk had also been resting on his laurels all this time. Without any goals or dreams, he’s just riding along someone else’s plan. Becoming an executive in someone else’s organization seems to be kinda low for the Greatest Swordsman.
What do you do after becoming the greatest swordsman? nothing much you can do afterwards. It isnt like there is a yearly swordsman tournament or some shit like that. All he can really do is train a bit everyday to not lose edge and do stuff to not be bored.
"The Clown Emperor's New Groove" also would have worked nicely lol 👍🏻 I do live in the south and I've seen several Alligator Snappers ranging from somewhat small to absolutely gigantic. I've been bitten by the common snapping turtle before and it sucked, as you could imagine lol. Definitely don't want to come across an alligator snapper by accident, you'll likely lose a limb.
Anyone else weirdly surprised that buggy hasn't asked Rayleigh for hints or anything? Rayleigh was willing to tell Luffy and his crew anything just because of that Straw hat (even thought that might be a bit more important that we know)
I love how Buggy is the typical character of a gardener :D Like George RR Martin descibebed, there are two kinds of writers. Architects and Gardeners. Architects are the one who have plans for years basically, but Gardeners just go with the flow, and let their charcters be where they are.So yes, Oda is a good gardener :)
Remember roger told shanks something really important or gave shanks a. Very important task which probably changed shanks mind about going after the one piece and if i had to take a guess it probably had to do with something with joyboy and the gumu gumu no mi

I can’t imagine how Buggy wouldn’t have had the upmost respect for Shanks considering not only how much time they spent together on Roger’s ship, but also the fact that Shanks opted not to go to Laugh Tale to stay with Buggy and giving up the opportunity of a lifetime. Seeing them both land on Laugh Tale together would make their story complete.
Definitely seen a couple alligator snapping turtles growing up in the south. Relatively small ones but still cool the couple times I’ve seen them in person. Also super glad that buggy is still relevant to the story 😂
Well before I read this chapter-or even before this chapter was released- I had made a list of groups that would be in Doflamingo's Throne War/Race to Laftel predictions after the end of the Wano arc. And Cross Guild was on the list along with his fellow Yonkou. This chapter just made that prediction all the more set in stone.

Plot twist: Buggy is actually as strong as Shanks, but his crew is not and never was, therefore he always wanted to lay low in order to protect them. "Buggy's delivery" organization was a way of obtaining a stronger crew, so that his weaker friends and crew members are not whipped out instantly, and now, that he gathered a strong crew and became known throughout the world, he decided that they're strong enough and Buggy can finally be on his move. :P
I was born and raised in Jacksonville FL and didn't leave until I was about 25 and I can't honestly tell you how many of these turtles I've seen while fishing or playing around in the woods/fl wetlands ranging from lil babies to some big big BIG mofos. I remember we were ALWAYS taught to be extremely careful if we saw one(even babies) and to keep an eye out for mainly them, alligators, and moccasins when we went fishing or swimming in ponds, wetlands, or any other non salt water areas. Ngl we use to love to catch the babies and just kinda admire and wonder at these pretty cool creatures as well as the other many beautiful, amazing, and usually very dangerous creatures of the wetland/beach environment of jacksonville fl

Grew up with Snapping turtles in my neighborhood ponds in florida. We knew from a young age to steer clear, though some kids would take it as a challenge to catch one and hold it with their bare hands
It would be awesome if shanks said it’s time to claim the one piece to his crew because that meant he needed to go find buggy first so they could go together. This could be possible because shanks said that then went to elbaf where his allies were gathering, potentially to take on cross guild.
Weirdly enough I now feel bad for Buggy when he first met Luffy and saw that Shanks gave Roger's hat to a random kid. He probably felt shattered after learning that Shanks not only didn't do what he promised Buggy he would do but then he seemingly gave up their collective dream entirely in exchange for some random nobody in the east blue

Yeah man.. I been feeling buggy for a long time. Dude aint evil. He had a reason i never thought it was the map or the fruit. Like it always had to shanks fucked him over. Not that shanks really did anything wrong. But buggy believed in him and was crushed. Buggys rise was precariously ridiculous.. It was hard and it involved alot of misplaced anger. Buggy is literally the best character. Usopp second. Garp third. These dudes being challenged emotionally mentally and physically constantly. I feel for them. My strongest connections are with these characters. Very very well written

I think my favorite part of Buggy in the last chapter is that everyone expects Shanks or Luffy to be that second coming of Roger and instead of Roger's will being passed down to Shanks, it was actually Buggy who was the one to have the Roger moment to confirm to a massive amount of people that their dreams are important and the One Piece being real. You could argue that Buggy's speech could have inspired the next pirate era right then and there, just like Roger or Whitebeard did. Which is both hilarious and fantastic for his character.
considering Buggys words only really reached his crew, I DOUBT this will kick off the "next pirate era" the same way as Roger did. It won't lead to more pirate crews popping up and sailing at their own leisure. But it marks the point where all 4 Yonko are now actively going after the One Piece again, and Buggy DOES have the presumably biggest pirate crew in the world of One Piece, which with them now going after the One Piece will obviously have some effect as well. But it's not like the effect Roger had.

Am pretty sure buggy can be use as a becon or a compass needle to find the island. Am pretty sure in the Oden flashback it was mentioned buggy getting a if-i-go-to-this-island-am-going-to-die sickness so shank like a bro stayed with his sick friend missing the chance to go with Roger to the island. So if buggy still have the sickness you could see how much he is dying to know your going the right way.

For the first time ever, Buggy has shown us that spark. Not cowardice or a will to survive, but true ambition and the desire to gun for the top.
It's the same fire Luffy always has, and recognizing that fire in Buggy was unexpected, but it won so much respect.
He's always had a spark for adventure. His pivotal moment where he got the chop chop powers he was about to abandon ship to seek out some treasure on a map. His motivation to help Luffy in Impel Down was spurred on by the piece Luffy had on his arm, which turned out to be a way to find some more treasure. Now, at 1082, Buggy has set his sights on the One Piece as a new quest to be the best. As he observed, to have power, you need wealth, but to have wealth, you need power. Mihawk and Crocodile would be stuck trying to figure out how to gather that. The One Piece circumvents all this as anyone could get it if they have the ambition.

He seems to have an even stronger version of Luffy's ability to get people to join his side. Where, while people join luffy's side they aren't always happy about it and they just share a common goal (like Kidd, and Law), people who follow Buggy revere him and are willing to do anything for him.
To me that ability seems to have some kind of a relationship to conquerors haki because how are you going to be a king, if there is no one to follow..,
And the best thing is that, even if he won't become a powerhouse, Buggy could definitively get a Power Up out of this.
Across the New World, and especially in the last hundred or so chapters, we have been being told something very important:
What matters more than anything, more than any fruit, weapon, or skills, is the Haki.
The WILL.
The Haki is the Will itself of the person, it can be trained and polished, of course, but in the end it's the Willpower of the user.
If with this Buggy gets up, determination on his eyes that won't go away, one capable of standing up against frigging Crocodile and Mihawk... That would be a damn strong willpower from him, a damn strong Haki.
He would surely still be the weakest of the three, but he could genuinelly become strong if he applied himself from now on.

Edit: Let's not forget Shanks spoke with Roger after he returned from One Piece. Shanks gives the impression he already knows what the one piece is & just gatekeeping.
Yes that last point is very important. Personally, ever since Marineford and that one scene he has with the Gorosei, I have this feeling that Shanks is not an Emperor just because he likes being a free pirate, or because of Gol D. Roger, no. I think its because out of all the pirates in One Piece, Shanks is the only one who wants to keep world order, or more so he wants to keep the world the way it is. And if someone like Luffy, Buggy or some other pirate were to find the One Piece, they would also discover some hidden truth that would literally throw the entire world into chaos. We already have civilians killing wanted Marines. The Revolutionary Army is about to find out all of Sabo's info.
Garp now truly exists and Buggy is literally going YOLO and gonna find the One Piece without any of the Ponoglyphs. If the One Piece is found....then I wouldn't be surprised if the WG goes full nuclear and kills anyone who dare question their authority.
The next chapter will either be at least pretty solid or absolutely bonkers.

Scene when he saw Luffy in Gear 5 & immediately thought back to stopping the WG from getting the Nika fruit speaks volumes. Shanks always knew what it was & that's because he knows what the One Piece is. He did speak to Rayleigh later in years & could have easily asked him.

This chapter really puts into perspective Shanks's reaction during Marineford arc. To Shanks, he thought their rift was because of his indecision to become the PK but here was Buggy claiming a different reason for hating Shanks.
I think the real reason why Shanks backing down from going straight to the one piece has a connection to that momment where he cried after Roger's coming back from Laughtale and he asked Roger something. Shanks knew something almost evrrybody did not.
What if shanks rolls up to Cross guild and just says "hey buggy! I am going to Laughtale, you still wanna go? I can't go without you!" And buggy without missing a beat just joins him.
Leaving Cross guild to be what they actually are. And it scares the elders like when big mom and kaido made an alliance.
Shanks is going for the one piece and I don't think he is the type of person to forget a promise.

I know people joke about the whole treasure map thing, but it might be symbolic as well. By going back on his word Shanks took away what Buggy saw as his opportunity for adventure, he wanted something or someone to help guide him in his adventures and that got taken away once he lost his trust in the same way he lost his treasure map
I really liked Buggy's post time skip design where he has the giant tent for a body, it's really simple how he does it, but his anime introduction with it made it look even cooler, I'm hoping with the character development that he gets in the future he becomes even more flashy and becomes a more serious contender for Pirate King

I could definitely see, like, all of the emperors are on their way to Laugh Tale, or at least the Strawhats and Redhair pirates... and then in comes Buggy and as soon as he sees Rogers ship he sees red and they go at it, leaving the Strawhats and any other crew potentially in the running in the lead, and their fight is gonna end with Shanks and Buggy reconciling and them together arriving late on Laugh Tale, also giving the Strawhats some time to deal with anyone else in their way and find the One Piece first.
I imagine many of the end game characters are going to converge on laugh tale.

Just went and rewatched the Oden flashback episodes and I now sympathizes with Buggy's feelings. They (Buggy and Shanks) went through so much growing up together. To have his admiration for Roger along with seeing and coming to terms with Shanks being Roger's successor at that time but be told we are not finishing our captain's dream had to hurt. Not to mention he was also denied the chance to see the treasure due to "If I go to that island I'll die" illness has to feel bad man. His time will come. RISE THE CLOWN GOD OF THE PIRATES!!!!!
would be fun if Buggy is Rocks child and Rocks made a similar failing upwards. Thats how Rocks got the most powerfull crew in history, Buggy repeating his fathers story.

Buggy really shows something important about bounties and status that people like to ignore. What matters most to be a big leader isn't strenght, it's charisma. Being able to inspire and lead people to a common goal. To me he isn't a "joke Yonko", he is a legit Yonko.
Oda loves to have things that are seen as jokes have very real ramifications in the story.
Sanji's poster, the fireleg passion power. I can see oda making buggy the ringmaster of some final battle making it so the whole world knows what is happening in the final battle and somehow make that have tangible benefits only Buggy could provide.

I genuinely want buggy to get some sort of power up (not really enough to stand up to mihawk or crocodile, but enough to be respectable) given he is regaining his will and passion, inherited will and all that common theme in one piece, he does have the same charismatic magnet that luffy has even if it's luck, his strength is in his allies, and most of his power is political, just with a bit of actual raw power could be enough to cement his position, have him take on a small sea king or something, a thing most of high ranking members on his extended yonko crew could do already, but with flashiness turned up to 11
Thing to remember is buggy had a map to the Grand Line. He was already planning to go even before he ran into Luffy. And it's not like he went to chase Luffy, buggy went looking for captain John's treasure
I wonder if Buggy might send a scouting party to the island where he and Shanks stayed while Roger was heading to Laugh Tale. That way, he could find out if it can work as a starting point for his pursuit of the One Piece. If Shanks or the Marines or anybody else getting in his way set up a strong presence on the island, then a scouting party could warn Buggy ahead of time and stop him from sailing into a battle he can otherwise avoid. Not to mention, gathering info on any such setup.

I was honestly impressed by Buggy's flashback, it shows more insight and loyalty from him than he's ever showcased, and I look forward to see just what else Oda has in store for him. Also, Buggy getting to one up Mihawk and Crocodile is both hilarious, genius and awesome in equal measure.

It would make sense that Buggy D Clown finds the One Piece, especially since we know that Roger Laughed. So making They Clown find the One Piece and reveling the joke through him would be an ODA thing to do.
I like the idea of Buggy being abused so much that the overuse of his powers awakens his devil fruit. Buggy being able to split other people and the environment around him apart would be crazy. He clearly wouldn't be Yonko level strong, but at that point he could probably take on most of his crew one on one.

I had a ridiculous theory about the One Piece and Imu that parallels Buggy and Luffy in the beginning of One Piece that I thought could never be true but this last chapter makes it a little more plausible based on Buggy's reaction here and how fast the Cross Guild is growing. It consists of Imu looking ridiculously funny similar to Buggy when Nami tied up his torso and body pieces in Orange Town and he was forced to wander the East Blue in the cover story arc looking goofy.
What if Joy Boy, using his awaked his Nika Nika powers, removed some ridiculous part of Imu's body because he was rising to power in a cult-like way, the way Buggy is doing now. During which, Joy Boy made Imu look ridiculously funny and little in the void century. (In this theory Imu is actually tiny due to Joy Boy's powers and the straw hat at Mary Geoise is actually normal sized, we just are meant to believe the hat is huge because we never actually see Imu standing next to someone else for scale reference.) Forcing Imu to hide in the shadows while using his conned cult-like influence to run the world, much like Buggy. Meaning Imu doesn't actually have any powers, his subordinates do.
Also, this would make the One Piece actually a piece of Imu's body but it looks so funny it would make anyone laugh at it. Causing Imu to hold an endless grudge towards Joy Boy and everyone from the D clan because they all probably laughed at his ridiculously funny form. Similarly to how Buggy holds a grudge towards people when he thinks they are making fun of his nose.
It always seemed funny to me when I first came up with this theory how the Cross Guild symbol actually resembles the world government symbol and how they run the crew like a mini government/business instead of a pirate crew. Or how they made bounties like the marines do for pirates. And how Buggy's main subordinates - Alvida, Mohji, Richie, Cabaji, and Mr. 3 parallel the Gorosei. Or how Crocodile was so interested in Alabasta. Probably similar to how the Alabasta former king centuries ago thought Imu was just a fool like Buggy and just wanted to live in peace away from Imu's nonsense.
I doubt any of this is true but it just seemed funny enough to be real in Oda's universe.

You make a good point, but the best part of your "pirates give up on their dreams" is the fact that the Straw Hats each have a different dream. Luffy wants to be King of the Pirates, but everybody else wants something different.They're not supporting him because they gave up on their own dreams, they're supporting him because he's supporting them in their own dreams. This idea basically draws a line between the Straw Hats and every single other pirate crew out there.
Didju know that chelonians are separated into 3 categories, based on their primary habitats? Turtles are marine, terrapins are freshwater, and tortoises are terrestrial; so box turtles are tortoises, and snappers are terrapins. Interestingly, like turtles and terrapins subjectively spend time on land, tortoises apparently possess the ability to swim or paddle between islands!
I'll be honest I think a lot of people in universe, and out of universe really underestimates Buggy, honestly I think Buggy even does it as well. I believe that Buggy is a lot stronger than even he gives himself credit for he was on Roger's Crew for Garp stake. I think Buggy has spend so long beating himself down, and living in fear he's convinced himself that he's really weak. But with Buggy now reigniting that spark in himself I think that would get rid of his biggest limiter on himself. His own fears, and insecurities . Buggy without anything to fear might make him become an even greater threat than anyone could have ever could of logically guess. Cause Buggy is very smart, and very creative. We've seen how skilled he is with the Bara Bara no Mi which is impressive since I personally feel like that would be a hard fruit to master. I'm not saying that Buggy could beat up Crocodile, and Mihawk. But I think Buggy could manage to hatch a brilliant plan that catches everyone off guard.
Buggy failing upwards is such a great thing to see. Also getting mihawk feels like oda wanting to put his idea of Zoro being on his crew from long ago and this working much better after so long
My prediction is we will probably see shanks and buggy clash while Blackbeard will bide his time or Luffy vs buggy while shanks and Blackbeard clash to get a true yonko war for the road ponoglyths while the revolutionary army start moving

I like the idea that the reason shanks and buggy were in the East Blue both pretty close to Foosha village is because thats the island that buggy and Shanks were dropped off at. Shanks remembered it was Foosha but buggy thought it was orange town.

I think Shanks wanted to experience and live in the great Pirate era full of strong pirates. He didn’t want to immediately end the era by finding the one piece (rather he could or not). He wanted to see other Pirates like Luffy and Buggy and even Ace to bloom and see others greatness. Probably because he already knew his own value, he just wanted to see others.
It was obviously because shanks knows about the joyboy prophecy lol even if shanks became pirate king he can’t change the world unlike Luffy can. So he motivates Luffy while waiting near the finish line to make sure Luffy fulfills it

I would actually love to see if in time Buggy actually gains the admiration of Crocodile and Mihawk so in time they will genuinely view him as their captain and seek to help him achieve his dream.
Not a chance, after what they’ve done to him to undermine him. They may come to respect him but I doubt they’ll ever truly be apart of his ‘crew’, purely because I feel Mohawk and crocodile are far to big of independent characters and storylines to just be lumped into cross guild at the end. I think it will most likely remain an alliance but yknow oda I could be completely and utterly wrong
@@kianseery but that’s the whole fun of the idea. Would anyone have guessed Buggy would become a warlord or a Yonko. The guy just keeps failing up. So the next step is for his charm to win over the actual strength of the cross guild. A sort of, he may be a pathetic idiot, but he’s our pathetic idiot. His earnestness to pursue his dream despite being so grossly out class relights the fire that made Crocodile want to challenge Whitebeard head on and Mihawks drive to be the best swordsman in the world.
I think it wasn't so much the putting together of the crew or the dangers that stopped Shanks. He was ready for that, had basically seen a lot of what the seas had to offer. It was more about probably whatever Roger said to him. Whatever it was stopped Shanks from carrying out his original dream. And I think much of this has been put into motion from that point.
There was a fan drawing on the One Piece subreddit where the artist jokingly had Buggy fighting and winning against Jesus Burgess by using his Awakened Bara Bara abilities. If Buggy can do to other people what he does to himself, he effectively has the same ability as Law's Amputate, perhaps even more powerful.
I always felt like Buggy will have his shining moment, but like a big one, whether it is having the pirate king title for a moment or being the first to reach/find the One Piece or something else that Oda is planning. This chapter encourage this idea, and do you guys remember that when Stampede came out Naito the editor at that time said that all the staff of the movie felt like watching the end of the series, oda said that the end will be even better than this but we can understand what they were talking about because stampede is litterally a battle royal for the "abandoned" treasure of Gol D. roger which is similar to what is happening right now with a lot of characters in action. And what is happening in Stampede ? In stampede Buggy is the first to reach the treasure, even if it is for 30 seconds in the movie he is the first one to reach it and he opened the box and saw the eternal pose for Laugh Tale. So i think something similar will happen in this big war in the manga !
I’m going to say this now. If Buggy plays some pivotal role in the defeat of the main villain (whether it be Black Beard or Imu), like he just awakens his devil fruit, I would honestly cry tears of joy.
I think buggy kept tabs on shanks after the timeskip and when he heard shanks was going after the one piece that revitalized buggy’s pirate spirit
Now that Buggy got his ambition back, I can see him unlocking Haki and it turned out he had potential to be strong, not as much as Shanks but enough to be formidable in the seas.
If he unlocks Conqueror’s in a really hype and emotional scene where he knocks out either Marines or Pirates, it would be really amazing.
Or just imagine him doing that in front of the other Yonko and they realize that Buggy is definitely a threat and take him seriously
I feel like because buggy did this, the cross guild is gonna expand because of this. I just can't see the guild being this hard carried by Mihawk and Crocodile. That's why I think we are gonna see a ton of old characters returning to join the guild for the race for the one piece. Like I could see the following joining:
Shiki (Oda wouldn't show him in wano for no reason)
Neo M.A.D.S
Moria and Perona
Arlong
Don Krieg and Gin
Doflamingo and Bon clay(if they break into impell down)
And this is a little out there, but I think it makes sense, I think Johnny and Yasaki are gonna be guys who capture marine bounties for the cross guild.
I could be wrong, but I definitely think the guild needs more power.
Making a big detour to break into impale down is very time consuming but has the potential to pay off big time.
The marines would hate it and it could boost their power and reputation.
Honestly I'm in favor of this.

In regards to Shanks and Buggy being present when the Roger pirates pin-pointed LaughTale. I assumes when Shanks told Beckman that they were going to claim the One Piece, that they would just go to Laugh Tale and had no need for the Road Ponyglyphs, as I assumed that Shanks alreaady knew where it was. But what if Shanks simply forgot it and Buggy actually remembers LaughTale's location. this could make for a fun gag, where Buggy just go's like "Ow I already knew where Laugh Tale is, let's go there right now."
I would love for Buggy to reveal the location of Laugh Tale to Croc and Mihawks with some stupid reason as to why he know it. Something like "I peeked at the map on my way to take a shit in the middle of night."
This chapter is perfect to me, I haven't laughed that hard at OP in a long time, and it's always Buggy that gets the laughs rolling. And not only that, it adds a real third dimension to Buggy's character
I want mihawk and crocodile to be in a position where they can’t have buggy looking weak at this stage so they train him to use haki/awaken his fruit

Dude that alligator snapping turtle picture brought backs some memories. When I was a kid I remeber watching this show named Call of the Wildman. It follows an exterminator named Ernie who'd catch all sorts of animals across the south, especially snapping turtles.

Buggy would greatly benefit Mihawk and Crocodile’s characters.
Crocodile’s goal to build a military state seems rather hollow compared to chasing the dream to find one piece.
Mihawk had also been resting on his laurels all this time. Without any goals or dreams, he’s just riding along someone else’s plan. Becoming an executive in someone else’s organization seems to be kinda low for the Greatest Swordsman.
What do you do after becoming the greatest swordsman? nothing much you can do afterwards.
It isnt like there is a yearly swordsman tournament or some shit like that. All he can really do is train a bit everyday to not lose edge and do stuff to not be bored.

I do live in the south and I've seen several Alligator Snappers ranging from somewhat small to absolutely gigantic. I've been bitten by the common snapping turtle before and it sucked, as you could imagine lol. Definitely don't want to come across an alligator snapper by accident, you'll likely lose a limb.
Halfway through the video, you made me realise that Buggy and Shanks are like Usopp and Luffy if they didn't reconcile post Ennis Lobby.
I wouldn't be upset if buggy turned out to be the one that found the one piece he truly is the underdog they would be the greatest twist ever

I love how Buggy is the typical character of a gardener :D Like George RR Martin descibebed, there are two kinds of writers. Architects and Gardeners. Architects are the one who have plans for years basically, but Gardeners just go with the flow, and let their charcters be where they are.So yes, Oda is a good gardener :)
Remember roger told shanks something really important or gave shanks a. Very important task which probably changed shanks mind about going after the one piece and if i had to take a guess it probably had to do with something with joyboy and the gumu gumu no mi

I can’t imagine how Buggy wouldn’t have had the upmost respect for Shanks considering not only how much time they spent together on Roger’s ship, but also the fact that Shanks opted not to go to Laugh Tale to stay with Buggy and giving up the opportunity of a lifetime.
Seeing them both land on Laugh Tale together would make their story complete.

As someone from Miami that had a river going through my back yard. Gators, snapping turtles, and manatees were common. Even snakeheads
Definitely seen a couple alligator snapping turtles growing up in the south. Relatively small ones but still cool the couple times I’ve seen them in person. Also super glad that buggy is still relevant to the story 😂
Well before I read this chapter-or even before this chapter was released- I had made a list of groups that would be in Doflamingo's Throne War/Race to Laftel predictions after the end of the Wano arc. And Cross Guild was on the list along with his fellow Yonkou. This chapter just made that prediction all the more set in stone.

There's actually alligator snapping turtles up here in Michigan too, I know a guy who has one just chilling in his lake, it's absolutely flabbergasting how huge it is
I think Buggy just became my most relatable One Piece character...
Plot twist: Buggy is actually as strong as Shanks, but his crew is not and never was, therefore he always wanted to lay low in order to protect them. "Buggy's delivery" organization was a way of obtaining a stronger crew, so that his weaker friends and crew members are not whipped out instantly, and now, that he gathered a strong crew and became known throughout the world, he decided that they're strong enough and Buggy can finally be on his move.

I was born and raised in Jacksonville FL and didn't leave until I was about 25 and I can't honestly tell you how many of these turtles I've seen while fishing or playing around in the woods/fl wetlands ranging from lil babies to some big big BIG mofos. I remember we were ALWAYS taught to be extremely careful if we saw one(even babies) and to keep an eye out for mainly them, alligators, and moccasins when we went fishing or swimming in ponds, wetlands, or any other non salt water areas. Ngl we use to love to catch the babies and just kinda admire and wonder at these pretty cool creatures as well as the other many beautiful, amazing, and usually very dangerous creatures of the wetland/beach environment of jacksonville fl

Grew up with Snapping turtles in my neighborhood ponds in florida. We knew from a young age to steer clear, though some kids would take it as a challenge to catch one and hold it with their bare hands

It would be awesome if shanks said it’s time to claim the one piece to his crew because that meant he needed to go find buggy first so they could go together. This could be possible because shanks said that then went to elbaf where his allies were gathering, potentially to take on cross guild.
I think Buggy is Xebex's son. There's no way that he just showed up, he has to have some crazy relevance.
