Back on Chapter 17, when Luffy says "I will be King of Pirates" to Buggy, the latter responds mockingly that if Luffy is going to be King of Pirates then he is going to be God of Pirates. That might look like a gag, but if your theory is correct then "becoming a god" was actually a foreshadowing!
Buggy being an analog to Osiris makes hella sense. Cross Guild could be an Ankh Guild just as well. Crocodile is analogous to the soul devouring crocodile of the underworld, and dracule Mihawk is a hawk, the animal of Osiris.

You notice it was Shanks who got the Gomu, Gome/Nika into Luffy's hands and he ate it "accidentally," then Buggy ate his fruit, "accidentally," thanks to Shanks. Seems to me this is a little too much of a coincidence.
Hypothetically, one could enhance the precision of body part separation, enabling microscopic division for stealth or microscopic exploration. Additionally, granting the ability to control each piece remotely could enhance tactical advantages. Ultimately, a limit "may be" reached where further improvement disrupts the balance of the One Piece world.
I've been telling people abou this channel, cause its nice having someone who actually understands the language explaining things that are overlooked due to poor english translation. Buggy Theory Perhaps The Roger Pirates found both Buggy and Shanks on God Valley, Baby Buggy is the Crown Jewel of Hachinosu and why Rocks rushed off ahead of everyone not giving a damn about the Mythical DFs, which he used as bait to get the rest of the crew to follow him there because they wouldn’t care as much about his son. It’s also an EXTREMELY Oda thing to do to build up Rocks with this shroud of mystery and strength while showing us Buggy as a kind of weakling, coward/braggart only to reveal that the former rival & true enemy of Roger&Garp was Buggy’s father. Also shows us Roger truly believes That the sins of the father have absolutely nothing to do with the child and why he trusts Garp with Ace bc Garp knows Buggy’s lineage too. Also Rocks Pirates mirroring Cross Guild w Former Shichibukai/Future Yonko If the other part of the bigs Rocks theory is he had a kid with a CD then it would make more sense of course. Also the reason why the Celestial Dragons bothered to take Buggy from Rocks is because Buggy’s mom is one of them and they could not and would not let the embarrassment of a CD mating with any pirate, much less one like Rocks, be out in the world. They kept this scandal secret, as well. Which is why Kong didn’t call in the Admirals of the time and instead called Garp. Being part CD also mirrors Shanks being a Figarland. To be clear, Rocks wasn’t a fail upwards type of character like Buggy. He was a pirate worthy of being Rogers rival and leading the crew that he had. But with how we’re meant to think of Buggy and how we’re meant to think of Rocks are completely opposite. And we are even seeing most recently that Buggy, while being a beat up and disembodied head on a hook is smack talking Mihawk & Croc and reigniting not only his own Will & Dream but possibly Mihawks and Crocs.

I've been obsessed with this theory for years and pushing Nefertari Buggy on people (Yes, also because they have blue hair.) - Check out Rayleigh's visual resemblance to Cobra. Compare their ages. Why is Rayleigh a "Dark King"? - Look over the Roger Pirates' journey that we've seen so far. We know their route through Paradise was very similar to Luffy's, so they must have been on the same Log Pose chain starting from Alabasta, at least. We know Roger learned about at least two ancient weapons, one being Poseidon. Shiki's comments in the Battle of Edd War in Chapter 0 imply Roger knows about another, and it's a year before they went to Skypeia so it can't be Poseidon. Uranus is to this day very mysterious, so process of elimination says it's Pluton. Oda has never once shown Roger in Alabasta, even though it's almost certain that he was there. Why's that?
@raiderrayschannel2712 Not him hating him. Buggy is written to be Shanks' antithesis. He's Shanks' opposite in every way. But his monolog to Mihawk and Crocodile about becoming the King of the Pirates may have been us witnessing his awakening. What he could have been if Roger lived if the crew stayed together and he grew as a person and pirate. He and Usopp are written very similarly, which is why I won't be surprised when they both have conqueror's haki.

Wouldn't splitting the poneglyphs be a problem for Buggy, his ancestor or any other bara bara no mi use since they are made of sea stone? In Dressrosa, the sea stone buildngs were the only buildings doffy's strings wouldn't cut.
I got this idea months ago too, ... he would be perfect fit in the Nefertari As also would make sense for Lilly be the founder of Amazon Island back then And another point would be that Luffy, Yamato, Chopper and Buggy, all 4 did not ate the fruit on purpose .. Luffy and Yamato are already stated as Deities, meaning they Were Chosen just like Buggy

some of the most compelling evidence for this theory in the narrative is shanks and buggy’s relationship…without a payoff equal to shank’s heritage, buggy’s place in their relationship does feel somewhat minimized, which sets up the revelation that he’s a “D” as naturally as possible, since the narrative basis has been binary from the start

Zoro is fighting Cabaji and Buggy sees something in Zoro. Also, Buggy calls himself an epithet. A theory that I heard is that Buggy's fruit is the fruit of the God of the forest, therefore Buggy is the God of the forest just how Luffy is the Sun God.

Croco Mom is my favorite theory in One Piece. Ivankov making that comment about fixing Crocodile seemed like mad foreshadowing to me. And then after finding out Luffy was Dragon's son in Impel Down really made Crocodile change his tune and cooperate more with Luffy. Good stuff. It's outlandish enough to be possible.

I've fully believed that Buggy was a "D" for a while now and it's awesome to see such a well done video on this. I hope Buggy's character goes farther and I hope he get more powerful. I'd say that he has some of the best potential in OP.
In Japanese, "L" is interchangeable with "R". So "Buggy the Clown" could also mean "Buggy the Crown", as in the Crown Jewel of Hachinosu. The Crown Jewel must be something that is valuable enough for the Celestial Dragons to steal and risk an attack of the Rocks Pirates. Rocks having a child with a female CD or the descendant of Nefeltari D. Lily is possible. And I am pretty sure, we will see Buggy and his mother as a special "Rabbit" in the hunt on God Valley. As we saw in the aftermath of the Levely, CD that misbehave get punished too (Figarland Garling killing Donquixote Mjosgard). In the God Valley incident, Garling could also have killed the special "Rabbit" (Buggys Mother), which was Rocks wife. Before Buggy the "Crown" was harmed, Roger probably intervened and took Buggy. On the other side, Rocks was probably searching the island for a woman with a baby and interrogated the other CD where to find them. He found Garlings wife and his baby son (Shanks) instead, planned for a prisoner exchange, put shanks in a treasure chest and took him. But just before he could do the exchange, Roger found Rocks, defeated him and took the treasure chest he was carrying (with Shanks inside). This obviously has to happen before Roger saves Buggy from Garling. This is how Roger endet up with two babies on his ship. It is also ironic that Buggy always searched for Captain Johns treasure, which probably was the Crown Jewel of Hachinosu that was entrusted to Captain John by Rocks before being stolen by the CD. Buggy the "Crown" searched for himself his whole life basically. And we need to think about if Rocks had a devil fruit, what would it be? Obviously many people would point at the Yami Yami no Mi, but I would suggest the Bara Bara no Mi instead. This doesn't contradict Nefeltari D. Lily having the Bara Bara no Mi as well. If you think about it, the Bara Bara no Mi gives the similar powers of the Gomu Gomu no Mi. While Luffy is immune to blunt attacks, Buggy is immune to slicing attacks. An awakened Bara Bara no Mi could probably even slice entire Islands to pieces (God Valley disappearing). Imagine a cut piece of God Valley with dead Rocks pirates floating away and becoming Thriller Bark. And there is the mystery how and why Roger had the Bara Bara no Mi on his ship. Roger and his crew were not interested in Devil Fruits, but he had that one Devil Fruit on his ship. Why and how did the King of the Pirates get that fruit? What if Roger stole it from the Goverment the same way Shanks stole the Gomu Gomu no Mi from them? There are also many parallels between how Luffy accidently ate his Devil Fruit and how Buggy accidently ate his. Shanks was involved in both cases, both almost drowned shortly after eating their respective Devil Fruit and both got saved by Shanks. What if the Bara Bara no Mi has a secret like the Gomu Gomu no Mi as well? Lets also think about Buggys design. Why a clown? Laughing has always been an important symbol in the One Piece world. Laugh Tale, the D. Clan, Smile Fruits making people laugh uncontrollably, Nika laughing and so on. So it shouldn't be a surprise that a character that looks like a clown and is called a clown, has made it to a Yonko in the One Piece world. After all, the only job of a clown is to make people laugh, no matter how the clown feels himself. If you think about it, it is just like Nika in a way. Buggy is called "Senryō Dōke no Bagī" in Japanese. Dōke means Clown and Senryō means "thousand Ryō". A "Ryō" is an old Japanese gold coin. Having 1000 gold coins can be considered as having a treasure. So basically "Senryō Dōke no Bagī" = "Thousand Coins Clown Buggy" = "Treasure Clown Buggy" or "Treasure Crown Buggy". And the translation of the "Crown Jewel" of Hachinosu as "treasure" would work as well because Buggy is looking for the treasure of Captain John which is hinted at being located in Hachinosu. If you want further connections between "Clown" and "Crown", look no further then "Ceaser Clown". The "クラウン" in his name can literally mean "Clown" or "Crown" interchangeably. Sure, Buggy is called a "道化" (Dōke) and not "クラウン" (Kuraun), but I just wanted to highlight that the connection between "Crown" and "Clown" is there in Japanese. There are to many word plays that connect Buggy with some kind of "treasure" and said treasure with the Rocks Pirates. We also need to think about where the Cross Guild will make their move. I don't think in Elbaf, but the next big arc after that, the war at Hachinosu. Garp is most certainly not dead but captured. We saw that Garp has a three "Crowns" (another hint, a clown themed crew using crown symbols) wanted poster from Cross Guild worth a 3 billion bounty. Imagine Blackbeard getting the bounty for Garp from Cross Guild the same way he got the bounty for Ace from the Marines. Imagine an arc where Cross Guild wants to execute Garp in Hachinosu where the Strawhats will go to save him. Imagine the same situation in Logue Town, but instead Luffy being almost executed, it is Garp that is almost being executed by Buggy. Imagine Luffy in Gear 5 throwing a lightning bolt at Buggy to stop him. It is like poetry, it rhyms. This arc would also guarantee an all out battle between the Strawhat fleet & allies, the Blackbeard Pirates and Cross Guild. The penultimate war before facing the marines at Lodestar Island, finding the One Piece at Laugh Tale (vs. Shanks) and then ending the World Government at Mary Geoise (somehow destroying the Red Line). We would probably also get the full backstory of Rocks at Hachinosu and the full flashback of the God Valley incident. I can't imagine a full war being fought at Laugh Tale. That would require many different groups making it there, which is unlikely. The only other crew I can imagine making it to Laugh Tale is probably Shanks. Imagine Luffy and Shanks fighting it out at Laugh Tale for the One Piece. Preferably the fight against Shanks would be the final battle in One Piece, but I don't see how the Strawhats will go to Mary Geoise and face Imu before finding Laugh Tale. Mary Geoise is located literally on the other end of the world compared to Laugh Tale. Maybe they will make use of Kumas Devil Fruit? We know objects can "eat" Devil Fruits, so maybe the Thousand Sunny will get the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi somehow? Would a ship with Devil Fruit powers work? Probably yes, since the majority of the ship is not submerged in water.
@@BimBamPinoy Thank you! My favorite part of the theory is that the great war Oda foreshadowed will be on Hachinosu. There are so many things pointing at it. 1. Introduction of Cross Guild. They need a purpose/role in the story. I think Oda wanted to have some old enemies of the Strawhats included in the great war. 2. Cross Guild puts 3 billion bounty on Garp. Oda didn't introduce Marines getting bounties without a reason. 3. Garp getting captured by the same crew that captured Ace. This foreshadows that Blackbeard is also going to get the bounty for Garp. 4. The introduction of the Shima Shima no Mi (Island Island fruit). Strawhats need to come to this devil fruit user since the other way is not plausible. 5. The fight between Luffy and Blackbeard is not the final battle. It is obvious that Oda made the World Government and Imu the end boss. So Luffy vs Blackbeard needs to happen earlier in the story. 6. The parties that would join the war would be: Strawhat Fleet (to stop Garps execution), Marines (to stop Garps execution), Blackbeard Pirates (they captured Garp and want bounty), Cross Guild (want to execute Garp). Luffy joining forces with the Marines (Koby & Smoker) will mirror God Valley. 7. Cross Guild can recruit more members while Strawhats are on Elbaf. I think of (trained) Moria (who has unfinished business with the Blackbeard pirates), Doflamingo who gets freed from Impel Down, Weevil freed from Impel Down (to mirror Whitebeard being part of Rocks), and many of the older East Blue enemies like Arlong, Kuro, Morgan & Krieg. Imagine Nami vs Arlong, Usopp vs Kuro, Morgan vs Helmeppo & Krieg vs Franky. Oda has shown a draft in a databook that Krieg was initially going to be a Cyborg named "Krieg - 9000". Ohh and Koby getting teased by Alvida, don't think it will be a fight though.

The early translations that come a couple of days before the official ones are always riddled with mistakes like the thing with Garling. I'm not telling anyone to stop reading those, but always be aware that the official translation has the correct intentions and meanings.
Hello Dawn & Dusk, I have had a question about One Piece for a long time. I would like to hear your opinion as a translator. It is about the name of the island that contains the One Piece. In English, the island has had the names of Raftel and Laugh Tale. This was treated as a reveal in some English spaces, but to my knowledge the Japanese name has always been the same. My personal theory is that the name of the final island is actually Laughter. This fits with my knowledge about L and R being the same sound in Japanese, however I do not know enough about translation to concretely form arguments for this theory and I do not know if this has any significance in Japanese. How is the island that contains the One Piece named in Japanese? Does it have any meaning?
In Jaya, Blackbeard says "Peoples dreams never end" and in recent chapters, luffy says "that's at the END of my dream." I would absolutely love for the owner of this channel to explain for us if there is something deeper going on there? Or is it just a translation problem?
This theory makes a lot of sense. I believe at one point Buggy’s paramecia was suppose to be a Zoan type, so it possibly supports him having a god fruit. In addition, it would explain why the Elders were so quick to give him such a huge bounty. Lastly, we know next to nothing about Rocks D Xebec. Rocks getting it on with a Nefertari would explain why the Gorosei would be so intimidated by him and want to erase him from history. His successor would in theory then be able to bridge the world government and all pirates alike. Hence “King Buggy.” The R and L in Japanese are also a lot a like, and apparently Clown could hypothetically be interpreted/ translated as Crown.

I had an idea but its in its first stages. Maybe Shanks was supposed to be a gift to his father for winning the slaughter games . Maybe Celestial Dragons who look normal are genetically engineered to be above average and can't have kids because of a genetic disease that passes unto their slave wife's through intercourse. Maybe this is what happened to Bonnie and her Mom. Maybe Shanks was a test tube baby and this is the only way they can procreate. By having a child with a non Celestial Dragon the child and the mother have a high chance of getting this Sapphire illness.
This is actually a really good one. But how do you think Shanks ended up with Gol D roger pirates? During Film red, there was a flashback memory of him being in a place where Roger and others saw him which is similar to when Shanks met Uta in a treasure chest on his ship.
Perhaps the Bara-bara Fruit is really the Fruit of the Moon-god, "Hito-hito Fruit: Model Wara!😂" Nika makes people smile through fun and freedom; Wara makes people smile through his foolishness!
I have a different theory about buggy and it involves Xebec: First the facts: The Roger crew have 2 kids of the same age, Buggy and Shanks. Shanks was found in one of the chests. Shanks looks like Garling so probably is from the Figarland family. We have a place where was happening a slaughter, someone bring a baby to this place is not logical. Assuming that the Figarland bring his baby there because they are insane, the same can be said of anyone of the pirates arriving, including Rocks. So, both babies can have been missing in the caos and Roger found them. BUT... Considering all the secret behind Rocks and now we know that no one in his crew respected him, they say he's not going to follow the plan and the lines between Roger and Rocks all resembles the interactions of Buggy and Luffy. Since Rocks disappears after God Valley, Oda never said he died, i think that somehow Rocks was turned to a baby and Roger adopted him cause his own crew wouldn't, gave him another name to hide him and raise him along with Shanks. That explains the disappearance, the interactions, the personality and the secret behind his appearance, don't forget that Oda said Buggy was his favorite character and he too has the greatest power in the word that is making allies where he goes, just like Luffy has and maybe, just like Rocks had.
I just want to say thank you for the video and the numerous cultural information, if you decide to correct every translation of the anime I think you will unlock a lot of information about one piece, it may take a very long time but it's always satisfying when we see a hint about an event that oda mentioned like 10 years or even before that, your channel is underrated in one piece theories, just recently I found out about your channel and I wished I found it earlier, keep the good work and thank you.
I love this channel and the fact that you haven’t moved to shorts or TikTok is great. Long format content for the win. My only suggestion to make it better would be to have a little more emotion when you speak. I first video I watched I thought it was text to speak, and I sorta turned me off of your content. I watched some more and realized I was wrong, also I’m sure some people watch because of that fact so take what I say lightly just my opinion. Great channel great video I’ll be back for the next one
Boogie makes me think of “the boogie man” more than a genre of dance music from WW1. On the same line, it makes me think of the character Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas…which makes me think of Cab Calloway, a big band jazz musician from The Harlem Renaissance (1920s-1940s).

They looked out and saw the sun shining behind a Dune 🌅. It also sounds almost the same Dune Dawn. The strawhat is the same color as a sand Dune.

A bit of a theory about Buggy since I've thought about it so much... If he were part of Roger's crew, there's no doubt he knew about haki before the start of the manga. He may have all three, but with a subtle twist. Observation could explain how he attacked Nami while in pitched battle with Luffy. Warning him that his prized treasure was being taken even with our boy keeping him occupied. Armament might've happened when Luffy used him as a shield against Mihawk. Only instead of deflecting the blade with his will, he deflected himself away from the blade. Conquerer is harder to notice, but instead of domination, what if he used it to weasel his way into good graces, making others more likely to listen to him. There might be more reason than misplaced fame that got so many on his side in Cross Guild.
I think he know haki, the evidence is all over marineford war. He dodged kizaru's attack (adv. Observ), destroyed the ice leaving no mark but destroyed it completely(adv. Arm ryou) and all those dumba$s prisoners who followed him like a god(adv. Conq). He's always strong but Roger crushed his dream by giving the strawhat to shanks.
I think there are a lot of hints linking Buggy to Rocks. Although I have also seen a terrific video claiming he is Crocodiles father. Buggy is probably the more obvious choice for being his son and I wouldn't be surprised if he had been stolen from Rocks and was the thing that got Rocks to god valley in the first place. It would be kinda poetic to have both Buggy and Shanks end up on Rogers ship that day, both as little boys...
I love that you explain translations errors and Oda’s inspirations. I was just wondering if you read other manga so you can explain translations errors too like jujutsu kaisen. another difficult manga to understand especially heian era.
Just a thought: I don't think it's confirmed yet, but in the off chance it's revealed that poneglyphs are sea stone, it would likely be impossible to alter/move them using Devil Fruit abilities like Chop Chop or Paw Paw. Otherwise I like the idea of them being split and scattered by both fruits respectively.
This looks like a different take on Randy Troy's Osiris theory, but both have the same principles, where Joyboy is Osiris instead, and Lily used the Nikyu-Nikyu instead of the Bara-Bara. Buggy and Crocodile are looking to be the top candidates of being the child of Rocks, given their histories.
If this is the case, then is Mihawk inspired by Horus? Horus has a falcon's head and was the rival of set. Falcons and hawks are both ospreys. Not only that, horus is known for their eyes. "The eye of horus". The eye of horus is also known as "The all seeing eye". The "eye of horus" is also the left eye; (the right eye being the eye of Ra). Zoro appears to have lost his left eye. Is this a clue of some kind? So, "Hawkeye Mihawk". It seems like a pretty strong connection when considering this theory. If that is true, then his power could be something relating to the sky as that was what Horus was god of. Perhaps it relates to being "all-seeing". Or it may relate to protection, as the eye of horus relates to protection also. Something else interesting.. Mihawks sword is like a cross, and Horus is often said to have been the inspiration for the story of Christ.

eating a god could also meant eating a devil fruit related to the four gods of the ancient kingdom. nika is one of them but there are four. maybe the darkness fruit is one of them, and buggy's fruit being more than meets the eye (there are hints of buggy's mindset chance, maybe that may lead to an awakening).

You know, it funny you bring that up, because Buggy’s been in the game for a looooong time. And if we count his time as an apprentice with Gol D Roger it means he’s been a pirate his whole life. With the being said- ALL of his climbing up the pecking order only began AFTER his encounter with Luffy. Before this.. he was doing (the same BUT) a REALLY bad job compared to Arlong. Why did it take Luffy to come in the scene? If Imu and Nikka were related (siblings)… nvm forget this part 😅😅 But also, Buggy’s fruit has to be something special in its own right. You notice it was Shanks who got the Gomu, Gome/Nika into Luffy's hands and he ate it "accidentally," then Buggy ate his fruit, "accidentally," thanks to Shanks. Seems to me this is a little too much of a coincidence.
Hypothetically, one could enhance the precision of body part separation, enabling microscopic division for stealth or microscopic exploration. Additionally, granting the ability to control each piece remotely could enhance tactical advantages. Ultimately, a limit "may be" reached where further improvement disrupts the balance of the One Piece world.

Perhaps The Roger Pirates found both Buggy and Shanks on God Valley, Baby Buggy is the Crown Jewel of Hachinosu and why Rocks rushed off ahead of everyone not giving a damn about the Mythical DFs, which he used as bait to get the rest of the crew to follow him there because they wouldn’t care as much about his son.
It’s also an EXTREMELY Oda thing to do to build up Rocks with this shroud of mystery and strength while showing us Buggy as a kind of weakling, coward/braggart only to reveal that the former rival & true enemy of Roger&Garp was Buggy’s father. Also shows us Roger truly believes That the sins of the father have absolutely nothing to do with the child and why he trusts Garp with Ace bc Garp knows Buggy’s lineage too. Also Rocks Pirates mirroring Cross Guild w Former Shichibukai/Future Yonko
If the other part of the bigs Rocks theory is he had a kid with a CD then it would make more sense of course. Also the reason why the Celestial Dragons bothered to take Buggy from Rocks is because Buggy’s mom is one of them and they could not and would not let the embarrassment of a CD mating with any pirate, much less one like Rocks, be out in the world. They kept this scandal secret, as well. Which is why Kong didn’t call in the Admirals of the time and instead called Garp. Being part CD also mirrors Shanks being a Figarland.
To be clear, Rocks wasn’t a fail upwards type of character like Buggy. He was a pirate worthy of being Rogers rival and leading the crew that he had. But with how we’re meant to think of Buggy and how we’re meant to think of Rocks are completely opposite. And we are even seeing most recently that Buggy, while being a beat up and disembodied head on a hook is smack talking Mihawk & Croc and reigniting not only his own Will & Dream but possibly Mihawks and Crocs.

- Check out Rayleigh's visual resemblance to Cobra. Compare their ages. Why is Rayleigh a "Dark King"?
- Look over the Roger Pirates' journey that we've seen so far. We know their route through Paradise was very similar to Luffy's, so they must have been on the same Log Pose chain starting from Alabasta, at least. We know Roger learned about at least two ancient weapons, one being Poseidon. Shiki's comments in the Battle of Edd War in Chapter 0 imply Roger knows about another, and it's a year before they went to Skypeia so it can't be Poseidon. Uranus is to this day very mysterious, so process of elimination says it's Pluton. Oda has never once shown Roger in Alabasta, even though it's almost certain that he was there. Why's that?

But his monolog to Mihawk and Crocodile about becoming the King of the Pirates may have been us witnessing his awakening. What he could have been if Roger lived if the crew stayed together and he grew as a person and pirate.
He and Usopp are written very similarly, which is why I won't be surprised when they both have conqueror's haki.

Croco Mom is my favorite theory in One Piece. Ivankov making that comment about fixing Crocodile seemed like mad foreshadowing to me. And then after finding out Luffy was Dragon's son in Impel Down really made Crocodile change his tune and cooperate more with Luffy. Good stuff. It's outlandish enough to be possible.

I've fully believed that Buggy was a "D" for a while now and it's awesome to see such a well done video on this. I hope Buggy's character goes farther and I hope he get more powerful. I'd say that he has some of the best potential in OP.
In Japanese, "L" is interchangeable with "R". So "Buggy the Clown" could also mean "Buggy the Crown", as in the Crown Jewel of Hachinosu.
The Crown Jewel must be something that is valuable enough for the Celestial Dragons to steal and risk an attack of the Rocks Pirates. Rocks having a child with a female CD or the descendant of Nefeltari D. Lily is possible. And I am pretty sure, we will see Buggy and his mother as a special "Rabbit" in the hunt on God Valley. As we saw in the aftermath of the Levely, CD that misbehave get punished too (Figarland Garling killing Donquixote Mjosgard). In the God Valley incident, Garling could also have killed the special "Rabbit" (Buggys Mother), which was Rocks wife. Before Buggy the "Crown" was harmed, Roger probably intervened and took Buggy.
On the other side, Rocks was probably searching the island for a woman with a baby and interrogated the other CD where to find them. He found Garlings wife and his baby son (Shanks) instead, planned for a prisoner exchange, put shanks in a treasure chest and took him. But just before he could do the exchange, Roger found Rocks, defeated him and took the treasure chest he was carrying (with Shanks inside). This obviously has to happen before Roger saves Buggy from Garling.
This is how Roger endet up with two babies on his ship. It is also ironic that Buggy always searched for Captain Johns treasure, which probably was the Crown Jewel of Hachinosu that was entrusted to Captain John by Rocks before being stolen by the CD. Buggy the "Crown" searched for himself his whole life basically.
And we need to think about if Rocks had a devil fruit, what would it be? Obviously many people would point at the Yami Yami no Mi, but I would suggest the Bara Bara no Mi instead. This doesn't contradict Nefeltari D. Lily having the Bara Bara no Mi as well. If you think about it, the Bara Bara no Mi gives the similar powers of the Gomu Gomu no Mi. While Luffy is immune to blunt attacks, Buggy is immune to slicing attacks. An awakened Bara Bara no Mi could probably even slice entire Islands to pieces (God Valley disappearing). Imagine a cut piece of God Valley with dead Rocks pirates floating away and becoming Thriller Bark.
And there is the mystery how and why Roger had the Bara Bara no Mi on his ship. Roger and his crew were not interested in Devil Fruits, but he had that one Devil Fruit on his ship. Why and how did the King of the Pirates get that fruit? What if Roger stole it from the Goverment the same way Shanks stole the Gomu Gomu no Mi from them? There are also many parallels between how Luffy accidently ate his Devil Fruit and how Buggy accidently ate his. Shanks was involved in both cases, both almost drowned shortly after eating their respective Devil Fruit and both got saved by Shanks. What if the Bara Bara no Mi has a secret like the Gomu Gomu no Mi as well?
Lets also think about Buggys design. Why a clown? Laughing has always been an important symbol in the One Piece world. Laugh Tale, the D. Clan, Smile Fruits making people laugh uncontrollably, Nika laughing and so on. So it shouldn't be a surprise that a character that looks like a clown and is called a clown, has made it to a Yonko in the One Piece world. After all, the only job of a clown is to make people laugh, no matter how the clown feels himself. If you think about it, it is just like Nika in a way.
Buggy is called "Senryō Dōke no Bagī" in Japanese. Dōke means Clown and Senryō means "thousand Ryō". A "Ryō" is an old Japanese gold coin. Having 1000 gold coins can be considered as having a treasure. So basically "Senryō Dōke no Bagī" = "Thousand Coins Clown Buggy" = "Treasure Clown Buggy" or "Treasure Crown Buggy". And the translation of the "Crown Jewel" of Hachinosu as "treasure" would work as well because Buggy is looking for the treasure of Captain John which is hinted at being located in Hachinosu.
If you want further connections between "Clown" and "Crown", look no further then "Ceaser Clown". The "クラウン" in his name can literally mean "Clown" or "Crown" interchangeably. Sure, Buggy is called a "道化" (Dōke) and not "クラウン" (Kuraun), but I just wanted to highlight that the connection between "Crown" and "Clown" is there in Japanese.
There are to many word plays that connect Buggy with some kind of "treasure" and said treasure with the Rocks Pirates.
We also need to think about where the Cross Guild will make their move. I don't think in Elbaf, but the next big arc after that, the war at Hachinosu. Garp is most certainly not dead but captured. We saw that Garp has a three "Crowns" (another hint, a clown themed crew using crown symbols) wanted poster from Cross Guild worth a 3 billion bounty.
Imagine Blackbeard getting the bounty for Garp from Cross Guild the same way he got the bounty for Ace from the Marines. Imagine an arc where Cross Guild wants to execute Garp in Hachinosu where the Strawhats will go to save him. Imagine the same situation in Logue Town, but instead Luffy being almost executed, it is Garp that is almost being executed by Buggy. Imagine Luffy in Gear 5 throwing a lightning bolt at Buggy to stop him. It is like poetry, it rhyms.
This arc would also guarantee an all out battle between the Strawhat fleet & allies, the Blackbeard Pirates and Cross Guild. The penultimate war before facing the marines at Lodestar Island, finding the One Piece at Laugh Tale (vs. Shanks) and then ending the World Government at Mary Geoise (somehow destroying the Red Line). We would probably also get the full backstory of Rocks at Hachinosu and the full flashback of the God Valley incident.
I can't imagine a full war being fought at Laugh Tale. That would require many different groups making it there, which is unlikely. The only other crew I can imagine making it to Laugh Tale is probably Shanks. Imagine Luffy and Shanks fighting it out at Laugh Tale for the One Piece.
Preferably the fight against Shanks would be the final battle in One Piece, but I don't see how the Strawhats will go to Mary Geoise and face Imu before finding Laugh Tale. Mary Geoise is located literally on the other end of the world compared to Laugh Tale. Maybe they will make use of Kumas Devil Fruit? We know objects can "eat" Devil Fruits, so maybe the Thousand Sunny will get the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi somehow? Would a ship with Devil Fruit powers work? Probably yes, since the majority of the ship is not submerged in water.

@@BimBamPinoy Thank you! My favorite part of the theory is that the great war Oda foreshadowed will be on Hachinosu. There are so many things pointing at it.
1. Introduction of Cross Guild. They need a purpose/role in the story. I think Oda wanted to have some old enemies of the Strawhats included in the great war.
2. Cross Guild puts 3 billion bounty on Garp. Oda didn't introduce Marines getting bounties without a reason.
3. Garp getting captured by the same crew that captured Ace. This foreshadows that Blackbeard is also going to get the bounty for Garp.
4. The introduction of the Shima Shima no Mi (Island Island fruit). Strawhats need to come to this devil fruit user since the other way is not plausible.
5. The fight between Luffy and Blackbeard is not the final battle. It is obvious that Oda made the World Government and Imu the end boss. So Luffy vs Blackbeard needs to happen earlier in the story.
6. The parties that would join the war would be: Strawhat Fleet (to stop Garps execution), Marines (to stop Garps execution), Blackbeard Pirates (they captured Garp and want bounty), Cross Guild (want to execute Garp). Luffy joining forces with the Marines (Koby & Smoker) will mirror God Valley.
7. Cross Guild can recruit more members while Strawhats are on Elbaf. I think of (trained) Moria (who has unfinished business with the Blackbeard pirates), Doflamingo who gets freed from Impel Down, Weevil freed from Impel Down (to mirror Whitebeard being part of Rocks), and many of the older East Blue enemies like Arlong, Kuro, Morgan & Krieg. Imagine Nami vs Arlong, Usopp vs Kuro, Morgan vs Helmeppo & Krieg vs Franky. Oda has shown a draft in a databook that Krieg was initially going to be a Cyborg named "Krieg - 9000". Ohh and Koby getting teased by Alvida, don't think it will be a fight though.

The early translations that come a couple of days before the official ones are always riddled with mistakes like the thing with Garling. I'm not telling anyone to stop reading those, but always be aware that the official translation has the correct intentions and meanings.
Hello Dawn & Dusk, I have had a question about One Piece for a long time. I would like to hear your opinion as a translator. It is about the name of the island that contains the One Piece.
In English, the island has had the names of Raftel and Laugh Tale. This was treated as a reveal in some English spaces, but to my knowledge the Japanese name has always been the same.
My personal theory is that the name of the final island is actually Laughter. This fits with my knowledge about L and R being the same sound in Japanese, however I do not know enough about translation to concretely form arguments for this theory and I do not know if this has any significance in Japanese. How is the island that contains the One Piece named in Japanese? Does it have any meaning?
Roger does call it a "tale full of laughs" so i think laugh tale is correct
In Jaya, Blackbeard says "Peoples dreams never end" and in recent chapters, luffy says "that's at the END of my dream." I would absolutely love for the owner of this channel to explain for us if there is something deeper going on there? Or is it just a translation problem?
This is honestly one of my favorite One Piece channels on RUclips.
This theory makes a lot of sense. I believe at one point Buggy’s paramecia was suppose to be a Zoan type, so it possibly supports him having a god fruit. In addition, it would explain why the Elders were so quick to give him such a huge bounty. Lastly, we know next to nothing about Rocks D Xebec. Rocks getting it on with a Nefertari would explain why the Gorosei would be so intimidated by him and want to erase him from history. His successor would in theory then be able to bridge the world government and all pirates alike. Hence “King Buggy.” The R and L in Japanese are also a lot a like, and apparently Clown could hypothetically be interpreted/ translated as Crown.
This was easily one of the best OP theory videos I've ever seen. No matter if it ends up being true or not, you actually build your theory on facts and research. Seen lot of people basing their theories on a theory, which is kinda like building a sand castle on water.

I had an idea but its in its first stages. Maybe Shanks was supposed to be a gift to his father for winning the slaughter games . Maybe Celestial Dragons who look normal are genetically engineered to be above average and can't have kids because of a genetic disease that passes unto their slave wife's through intercourse. Maybe this is what happened to Bonnie and her Mom. Maybe Shanks was a test tube baby and this is the only way they can procreate. By having a child with a non Celestial Dragon the child and the mother have a high chance of getting this Sapphire illness.
This is actually a really good one. But how do you think Shanks ended up with Gol D roger pirates? During Film red, there was a flashback memory of him being in a place where Roger and others saw him which is similar to when Shanks met Uta in a treasure chest on his ship.

I have a different theory about buggy and it involves Xebec: First the facts: The Roger crew have 2 kids of the same age, Buggy and Shanks. Shanks was found in one of the chests. Shanks looks like Garling so probably is from the Figarland family. We have a place where was happening a slaughter, someone bring a baby to this place is not logical. Assuming that the Figarland bring his baby there because they are insane, the same can be said of anyone of the pirates arriving, including Rocks. So, both babies can have been missing in the caos and Roger found them. BUT... Considering all the secret behind Rocks and now we know that no one in his crew respected him, they say he's not going to follow the plan and the lines between Roger and Rocks all resembles the interactions of Buggy and Luffy. Since Rocks disappears after God Valley, Oda never said he died, i think that somehow Rocks was turned to a baby and Roger adopted him cause his own crew wouldn't, gave him another name to hide him and raise him along with Shanks. That explains the disappearance, the interactions, the personality and the secret behind his appearance, don't forget that Oda said Buggy was his favorite character and he too has the greatest power in the word that is making allies where he goes, just like Luffy has and maybe, just like Rocks had.
I just want to say thank you for the video and the numerous cultural information, if you decide to correct every translation of the anime I think you will unlock a lot of information about one piece, it may take a very long time but it's always satisfying when we see a hint about an event that oda mentioned like 10 years or even before that, your channel is underrated in one piece theories, just recently I found out about your channel and I wished I found it earlier, keep the good work and thank you.
I love this channel and the fact that you haven’t moved to shorts or TikTok is great. Long format content for the win. My only suggestion to make it better would be to have a little more emotion when you speak. I first video I watched I thought it was text to speak, and I sorta turned me off of your content. I watched some more and realized I was wrong, also I’m sure some people watch because of that fact so take what I say lightly just my opinion. Great channel great video I’ll be back for the next one
Boogie makes me think of “the boogie man” more than a genre of dance music from WW1. On the same line, it makes me think of the character Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas…which makes me think of Cab Calloway, a big band jazz musician from The Harlem Renaissance (1920s-1940s).

A bit of a theory about Buggy since I've thought about it so much... If he were part of Roger's crew, there's no doubt he knew about haki before the start of the manga. He may have all three, but with a subtle twist. Observation could explain how he attacked Nami while in pitched battle with Luffy. Warning him that his prized treasure was being taken even with our boy keeping him occupied. Armament might've happened when Luffy used him as a shield against Mihawk. Only instead of deflecting the blade with his will, he deflected himself away from the blade. Conquerer is harder to notice, but instead of domination, what if he used it to weasel his way into good graces, making others more likely to listen to him. There might be more reason than misplaced fame that got so many on his side in Cross Guild.
I think he know haki, the evidence is all over marineford war. He dodged kizaru's attack (adv. Observ), destroyed the ice leaving no mark but destroyed it completely(adv. Arm ryou) and all those dumba$s prisoners who followed him like a god(adv. Conq). He's always strong but Roger crushed his dream by giving the strawhat to shanks.
I think there are a lot of hints linking Buggy to Rocks. Although I have also seen a terrific video claiming he is Crocodiles father.
Buggy is probably the more obvious choice for being his son and I wouldn't be surprised if he had been stolen from Rocks and was the thing that got Rocks to god valley in the first place.
It would be kinda poetic to have both Buggy and Shanks end up on Rogers ship that day, both as little boys...

Just a thought: I don't think it's confirmed yet, but in the off chance it's revealed that poneglyphs are sea stone, it would likely be impossible to alter/move them using Devil Fruit abilities like Chop Chop or Paw Paw. Otherwise I like the idea of them being split and scattered by both fruits respectively.
The Poneglyphs are not 100% sea stone right buddy so I think that strong Devil fruit user can do that but not weak Devil fruit user.

If this is the case, then is Mihawk inspired by Horus? Horus has a falcon's head and was the rival of set. Falcons and hawks are both ospreys.
Not only that, horus is known for their eyes. "The eye of horus". The eye of horus is also known as "The all seeing eye".
The "eye of horus" is also the left eye; (the right eye being the eye of Ra). Zoro appears to have lost his left eye. Is this a clue of some kind?
So, "Hawkeye Mihawk". It seems like a pretty strong connection when considering this theory.
If that is true, then his power could be something relating to the sky as that was what Horus was god of. Perhaps it relates to being "all-seeing". Or it may relate to protection, as the eye of horus relates to protection also.
Something else interesting.. Mihawks sword is like a cross, and Horus is often said to have been the inspiration for the story of Christ.
Interesting theory. Never thought of it like that. But with One Piece you find connections in a LOT of places. I love seeing new theories coming to light since the "big" ones are kinda boring to hear over and over.

You know, it funny you bring that up, because Buggy’s been in the game for a looooong time. And if we count his time as an apprentice with Gol D Roger it means he’s been a pirate his whole life. With the being said- ALL of his climbing up the pecking order only began AFTER his encounter with Luffy. Before this.. he was doing (the same BUT) a REALLY bad job compared to Arlong. Why did it take Luffy to come in the scene?
