Oda really opens up dictionaries and looks for food or other random phrases. T-Bone would be the type to say: “my only regret is that I only have one life to give.”
When Zoro joined Luffy’s crew, Luffy said the Pirate King would need no less than the world’s greatest swordsman on his crew. Buggy has Mihawk. He literally fulfills the condition that Luffy set at the beginning of the story
I knew Tekking would give the appropriate level of attention to T-Bone's death. Most people won't care, but it is significant that it was specifically T-Bone that was killed by civilians for all the reasons Tekking mentioned. It's the fact that we've seen his characterisation as good-natured to a fault that means you can reasonably understand what happened without it being shown. He would never fight back against civilians, especially ones that he sees starving, and that's why it's possible for civilians to take down a vice admiral. Choosing him specifically was a very good decision by Oda. I'm also glad Oda is exploring the impact of Cross Guild on world affairs already. I was worried that there wasn't enough time left in the story to really explore this properly.
Great segment on T-Bone, really did him justice. You're also probably the only RUclipsr I've seen who theorized that T-Bone volunteered his life, so that the civilian could feed his family... everyone else went "Wow he got killed by this guy? He's so weak!", and just moved on without thinking about the kind of man he was
It really is sad that personality can be overlooked when it comes to these kinds of things. One's personality can say a lot about what kind of person they are and how they act in certain situations.
I wouldn't wonder if T-bone lived in the very same country and was going through starvation as well. He would gladly give his life if it helped an innocent citizen.
These last few chapters are just Oda reminding us that there are many moving parts in this story and not everything revolves around the straw hats. Gotta love it.
What I love the most about Buggy doing this is that he isn't just some naïve rookie pirate. He knows full well what it means to be King of the Pirates and about the caliber of fighters he will be going up against in the race for the treasure. Even knowing how daunting the task is, he still declared that he would fight for it. In a way, Buggy's declaration was a spit in the eye to both Mihawk and Crocodile, even though it was unintentional, Buggy's speech made it seem as if Croc and Hawk were the real cowards who were just playing small time pirate games. Buggy in this instance truly embodied the real meaning of what it is to be a pirate in the One Piece universe.
Buggy is like the 2nd child who was overshadowed by his over achiever eldest brother that makes him feel not special that all he can do is admire his older brother's greatness and abandon his dream because he knows he is no match. I really appreciate Buggy's character development. He's not just some clown
I also liked a detail in the speech bubbles that Buggy's interruption of Mihawk's and Crocodile's business talk starts with a shaky and small font and gets progressively thicker and larger. He's stroking his OWN flames too.
Man it was very emotional to find out Buggy actually not only gave up on his dream due to Shanks's obvious talent but also he genuinely believed in him to be the next King and was so disappointed and hurt about Shanks not following Roger's foot atepst
Also the reason buggy may have seen shanks as better then him as a kid is because shanks was the favourite. I mean Rodger gave his straw hat to shanks. We also see a panel in the oden flashback Rodger let's shanks wear his captains hat and in newest chapter there is a panel of shanks getting praised. It's subtle but it's clear shanks played favourites with shanks leading to buggy's inferiority complex to shanks.
Roger doesn’t seem the type to play favorite. Remember that Shanks was with Roger since he was a baby. He probably got training directly from Roger, Raileigh and Scopper. Buggy is naturally cowardly so he probably wasn’t used to danger, so he gave up trying to improve.
@Nether Portals He's uhhh... a pirate. So... yeah. He does bad stuff. it's a sliding scale with Luffy as an insane paragon that barely qualifies to someone like Crocodile who was willing to kill a 5th of a country for his "Utopia".
@Nether Portals To be fair, buggy is pretty much a pirate, sometimes we just forget the concept of being a pirate because of the straw hats, which imo is the weirdest pirate crew in One Piece
I'm really happy you expanded upon T-Bone getting killed off at the beginning. I can already tell that a lot of folks would overlook it since he was such a minor character. But the fact that one of the most chivalrous marines gets killed by not a pirate, but a civilian of all things really says something.
Yes, it does and while he may be a minor character, it seems he made an impact on a lot of people. This comment section to some extent feels like a funeral with a lot of people here to mourn him, myself included.
I think that Buggy flashback is now one of my favorite 'go back and re-contextualize it' moments in One Piece. I actually felt quite emotional seeing Buggy feel hurt like that. Even that panel of him watching from behind while Shanks is being praised by what looks to be Roger and him talking about giving up his real dream. I know there's more to it from Shanks' side but for Buggy it must have seemed like the brother who he'd left his dream with, the one who got their captain's hat, went back on his words and didn't care about things, about their captain, like he did. It was never actually about the map and devil fruit back then, Buggy just felt betrayed by his brother.
T-bone honestly is an underrated gem imo. He was a marine who should be the role model of all marines. Running down a train track for the sake of civilians. And he had a pretty cool fighting style with the angled sword . So sad to lose a real true marine. (he look scary asf tho)
Yeah if you think about honorable marines who haven’t been explored much, he really is easily one of the only we know to fully have that attitude, especially because he probably let the civilian kill him. F for T-Bone.
It really is a shame, there are a number of marines in One Piece that I wouldn't mind seeing run afoul of Cross Guild, but T-Bone was not one of them. He was among the best of the marines; it really is a shame.
@@JToaster So true, I can see him getting stabbed/shot and looking back at the killer with no hatred. Saying something like "Im glad my death can help you...." RIP to one of the best marines.
Jiron's fruit could be a counterpart to Streussen's Cook-Cook fruit, where instead of turning anything into food he can turn food into tools maybe So let's say he turned a pair of carrots into binoculars, but they're still carrots and that makes them fully edible
Cool idea, personally I prefer the idea that he literally just eats physical objects lmao, or he was so desperate to hide the fact that he used binoculars that he just chucked them in his mouth, perhaps he is just really stupid haha
I'm really surprised but happy Buggy got some develompent this chapter. I'm almost 100% certain that he will lay his hands on the one piece forbat least 5 seconds by the end of this story.
I absolutely LOVED this chapter, Buggy is the true pirate and he has indeed balls of steel for speaking up in his situation, and the flashback was precious, I knew there was something more in his relationship with Shanks... when he encountered Luffy in Impel down he had a really sad expression when he remembered Shanks, and now I can see what was that. On the other hand, I though Crocodile learnt from his mistakes when he was defeated by Luffy in Arabasta but no... he's still again with the Utiopia idea, he deserves a Buggy to mess with his plans XD I loved the faces of Croc and Mihawk being totally out of control. What a blast, I can't wait for Buggy and Shanks to meet up on Laugh tale.
Crocodile has the same dream of black beard to create a independent country recognised by the world government, being the pirate king is nothing for a person who wants to be a king or an emperor with the same power of a celestial dragon. The first plan was using a mass destruction wepon as a deterrent to being recognised, now is restricting the marine and wg to obtain it.
And the thing is, they have to go through with Buggy's plans. They agreed to let him be the face and voice of the operation. It's coming back to bite them in the ass now, and they know it.
This was such a great chapter to showcase what Buggy has been feeling all these years , his flashback is pretty damn down to earth and realistic. There have been plenty of people who give up on their goals and dreams due to many circumstances and maybe this explains why Buggy ended up being so weak and aimless in the story. Now that he's got his fire back and is being true to himself , maybe we can see him genuinely shape-up and do what he does best. I believe that Buggy was chasing lesser goals due to his de-motivation because of Shanks and his disappointment in him. However he seems to have come to a resolution and will now actually pursue his lofty ambitions. If Luffy doesn't become pirate king (he already has another GREATER DREAM anyway) , my vote is for Buggy! It's also interesting that regardless of what Mihawk and Crocodile want , they'll still end up going along Buggy's wish as the cross guild was only possible due to Buggy and his infamy. If all the grunts and criminal organizations were to pick between either siding with Buggy or the other 2 , they would pick Buggy as Buggy IS the Cross Guild. I think , through some roundabout way , we can expect to see Buggy at Laughtale. It would be a great way for Rogers pupils to both be on Laughtale too , thus accomplishing both their dreams.
Yeah and either croc or mihawk could one shot all the pirates and call it a Wednesday... numbers doesn't mean much when you have Coc and can slice up mountains instantly.
@@Alex111119But then they lose the organization that they would be trying to lead lmao. There’s no point in that, so they will just deal with it and keep Buggy as the figurehead. Not everything in the story revolves around powerscaling my dude.
@@GehrmansWheelchair haha yeah agreed , Mihawk and Crocodile cant do jack without Buggy and that is the truth at this point. They need funding , support , business , connections and a crew. Otherwise they cant accomplish their goals.
I’m with you Tekking. Seeing that T-Bone was killed was a genuine shock to me. I hadn’t thought about him at all prior to this chapter, but his good nature immediately came flooding back when I realized he was gone. His fight with Zoro is super underrated as well
@@togorconquest2372 Agreed, he was one of the marines that always came to mind when I thought of the good ones in the organization. I always figured that if the world government continued to exist at the end and went through a reformation of sorts that he would be one of the leaders of it. One of the honest marines to bring about a new beginning. The world of One Piece will be poorer for his passing.
@James Fox I honestly keep forgetting about his character since he only show up like couple chapters. However, everytime I re-watch the anime and i come across his character I always feel dirty that I forget about him since he is the MODEL of a marine should be! @ At that time I always get excited to see him again and see oh yeah captain T-bone how could I forget! Now that he is gone those scenes is going to hit different I just know it
Ever since the Cross Guild was established in the story, Buggy has grown more and more on me to be one of my favorite characters. This chapter really cemented that. I was legitimately moved to the point of goosebumps when Buggy's flashback with Shanks came up. Buggy's thought process is both believable and understandable, and seeing confirmation that deep down Buggy used to really admire Shanks really is that final puzzle piece I needed to think they *will* make it to Laugh Tale together, one way or another. I am low-key as excited to see Buggy and Shanks reunite as I am seeing Luffy and Shanks reunite!
I love what they did with Buggy in this chapter, the fire in his belly that had been burnt to embers, leaving him nothing but a love of shiny jewels has finally been reignited, and he's openly fanning those flames amongst his crew, not even for his own personal gain, but purely for the dream he so desperately wants to reclaim from his childhood
Indeed, he has gone from being someone who was content lording over a single town to someone willing to tell those stronger than him to their faces that he intends to be the pirate king. That must particularly irritate Crocodile, he wanted to be Pirate king himself once and now someone whom he has no respect for is willing to call him out for abandoning that dream to his face. Between Luffy and Buggy doing this, he must be angry.
Chapter about Kidd and Shanks - Amazing Chapter about Garp, Kuzan, Blackbeard and Law - Outstanding Chapter about Buggy - A chapter far and above the rest Buggy has been one of my favorite's for a few years now and everytime he is shown on page you know and are granted something worth reading.
Buggy over here told Crocodile “my Captain was the Pirate King mf, you ain’t no Pirate” when they were talking about the Utopia. I honestly respect Buggy a little more for that tbh. He spoke like a True Pirate this Chapter
@Dr. Weewe Mongoose in Buggy's view, a pirate is someone who is after treasure. That's why his long overreaching arc of finding Captain John's treasure is almost close to ending.
@@Dr.HooWho That's part of what makes it so stinging. He used to be a pirate. He bowed out of being a pirate because he couldn't handle WB. Buggy's saying he's a coward for that. And a literal clown calling you a coward is some serious emotional damage.
It's kinda ironic how Sengoku and Tsuru are talking about T-Bone's death while eating in a nice mess hall, while the one who killed T-Bone did it cause him and his family couldn't eat. Really shows how the Marines are far better off then the ones they are protecting
I mean same as enter the military in really life is often used as a way to escape poverty but we also know even in the one piecd world most marines are weak and can die easily
I was SHOCKED to see T-Bone was taken out. I actually did like that character. It's also pointed out that where T-Bone was killed, an average of 1,000 people die of starvation a year. That's horrible. That's absolute desperation and pirates were the ones who gave them the out. Sabo also mentions that while he could have communicated what he saw over the Den-Den Mushi, just hearing it might get someone killed. Guaranteed he saw Imu. I saw a theory that we're not going to see the Straw Hats for a while. That because Oda keeps doing stuff off-screen for the other characters, that this time he'll reverse that and we'll only be focusing on the side characters and never actually know about what happened with the Straw Hats outside of newspapers.
After my Water7/Enies Lobby rewatch, I really came to appreciate T-Bone way more for a great character he was. Wished he would be one of the marines surviving until the end and leading the Marines into the new era, but daaamn, Oda knew where to strike to get the feelings. Rip T-Bone.
Agreed, I had always envisioned him surviving the final conflict and being one of the people who would lead a reformed marine force in truly standing for justice, as one of the examples to uphold and emulate. Now it seems we will have to hope that such will be his legacy and that his memory will lead people rather than he himself.
Zoro even told T-bone, "You're a good man." I liked T-bone. I look forward to the video on Him. Someone should write a fan fiction about T-bone saving a super hot and kind woman who is horrified by his face but then, after witnessing several acts of chivalry and kindness, falls in love with him, and then they get married. I and a lot of other people are saddened by his death. And I could totally see him sacrificing himself to save the starving villagers.
I like to think that buggy’s followers already saw this side of him even back at marineford and before. As in they weren’t just stupid and falling for coincidences, at least in part they really resonated with buggy as a person. We already know from following luffy that you can be the biggest idiot ever but if your energy is on point then what more do you need? “The vibes are immaculate” is really one of the core messages of One Piece 😂
Even clowns have ambition. Its was a surprise to finally see the perspective buggy has of Shanks, he'll never admit it but he respects and understands his brother. The genuine shock he must've felt when Shanks chose not to go after the one peice is probably the true if not second reason he refused to join Shanks crew. He knows he's weak but that won't stop him even if he's beaten to an inch of his life, buggy may always act the clown but he's still a pirate. So yet another fire chapter with one king dead, and two Emperors on the move.
@@davidortiz3094 Well duh. Roger used the One Piece as bait to find the next Joyboy. If Shanks immediately went and claimed it before Luffy was ever born then that would be the end of it and Luffy would have never set out to sea.
I think the main reason Crocodile is so pissed is because Buggy just turned the tables on them. Crocodile might have the funds to run the operation but Buggy has the hearts and minds of the crew. He's supposed to just use his charisma to get everyone going along with Croc's plan, but now they have no choice but to go find the One Piece instead.
Buggy instantly went from a side character I enjoyed checking in on from time to time to one of my favorite character in all of one piece. That speech 😭😭😭
Vice Admiral T-Bone was legit was a personal favorite. He saw his ally get hurt and without hesitation, he ripped his shirt to provide as a tourniquet. The mourning for Vice Admiral T-Bone, was much appreciated.
Oda managed to add so much depth to Buggy with just a few panels. Buggy's gone from a small time villain to one of the main players in the end game. Also it makes sense that T-bone would die, he must've trusted the people as he helped them and gotten stabbed in the back.
I was hoping that he was secretly the best strategist on Roger's ship. I was hoping oda would show that he is not as strong as shanks but his intelligence makes up for it.
@@Dave_of_Mordor Did you recognize that Buggy is the first Roger's crew figured out Teach abnormal body and tell it to Shanks to watch on it carefully?
@@ArdenzL that's not enough. i want a cleverly crafted battle plan from buggy. something like kingdom. you ever read that manga? just pointing out someone strange, abnormal body is not enough to be labeled as a master strategist
Maybe that's why he hated Luffy so much since the beginning, seeing Roger's hat in Luffy's hands was like the confirmation that Shanks wasn't even trying anymore
I like to believe that in the back of Sengoku’s mind after he admonishes Garp for being reckless and possibly starting a global incident. I bet he’s thinking “Why didn’t you invite me aren’t we basically brothers? It’s not like I have anything else going on in my life”
@@HapPawhere if both of them go, it could give the operation legitimacy as 2 high ranking members of the World Government going would spark a call to arms in the Marines. further, if shanks went to the 5 stars to talk about Black Beard they may want to take him out of the picture and give the ok for a full scale invasion of the Island.
I was honestly shocked we got a chapter today or even this week and Buggy got me in my feelings. No lie, saying he wants to be PK, no meme or jokes, along with the backstory. Even though Croco Boi with Mihawk was clowning on him and Mihawk acknowledging Luffy again, I love to see it. Not to mention Sabo about to crack the true Reverie story wide open this chapter was Goda material easily.
T bone’s death had me shook I know he’s a bit obscure but I genuinely loved the guy when he was on the sea train he was so genuine and caring I was hoping to see him show up again and survive then he just dies I was so sad
I’m reading the One Piece Colorized Manga right now and I’m literally where The Strawhats attempt to overtake the Sea Train. This is gonna hit different knowing he appears a few chapters ahead and was one of the only Marines I respected off the bat.
I have followed this series for many many years now and I have seen many emotional moments, but I NEVER thought Buggy D. Clown of all people would actually make me emotional while reading.
Buggy went from someone we respected for the comedy of it to someone entirely deserving that respect for staring down Mihawk and Crocodile and daring to say he wants to claim the one piece
@@Alex111119 just because he isn't strong doesn't make him unworthy of respect he as weak as he is physically had the strength of character to stand up to Mihawk and Crocodile for them going against what he believes makes a pirate a pirate
@@Alex111119You don't have to be strong to be pirate king or emperor my guy. Stop basing stuff off on strength.. One Piece isn't that type of anime that always works around power scaling to make you a top tier character. Even a random fodder pirate can become pirate king with the right things and backup.
@@Alex111119 A lot of people say Moria is fodder. That doesn't change the fact that he neutralized Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji without lifting a finger. Brain power > muscle power. Vegapunk proved this. Buggy is showing his smarts here. He's saying the right things to motivate Croc and Milhawk to actually go after the One Piece. The fact that Buggy is looking down on them, is a stinging psychological wound. And killing Buggy would do nothing to heal that. Killing him would only worsen their standing in the world.
Buggy might be pathetic man with ungodly luck, but he knows what a true pirate looks like, he was on the ship of the best, so i think he talking to Croc and mihawk about how a real pirate is is pretty cool. Also he might know the direction of where Laugh tale is, or even the exact location
Not gonna lie, this chapter made me extremely proud of my boy Buggy. I always, strongly believed that Buggy would stumble his way up to Yonko, for years before he became one (Although I did more expect it to happen after or near the end of the final arc, definitely surprised me to see it before the final saga even began). However I'd always expected him to continue to be the coward clown that accidentally gets greatness. Seeing him actually have balls and make major moves is something I'm really happy to be surprised with.
T-Bones death came as a surprise and genuinely bummed me out, there aren't many marines that are this good-hearted. I appreciate that you held a funeral for him.
I mean honestly I could see Buggy being lucky enough to get to the One Piece first and see what it is before Luffy or Blackbeard. I mean he even called out the fact that he got to where he is now through seer luck and coincidence so I can't look past that happening.
I've been saying this since cross guild was announced, Buggy is gonna end up falling all the way upwards on his journey parallel to luffy and he will get the one piece
@@RoxDZoro Don't forget this new motivation he has I think this will be the real turning point for him and I can't wait to see what happens to him. I still can't believe he stood up to Croc and Mihawk though that's insane.
Thank you for explaining Vice admiral T-bone in this video, because i definitely would have been of the persons not realizing what kind of guy he was. This is exactly why Oda's story telling is brilliant and why i keep watching these video's so i don't miss any of the details.
My first reaction was huge respect for Buggy. He’s a pirate Roger would’ve been proud of - and as we’ve seen in the story interest in the one piece was waning, Doffy and Bellamy laughed at Luffy for chasing it. I’m glad Buggy is keeping his eye on the prize
Crocodile's utopia dream is very interesting. Sounds like he could be persuaded to join the Revs potentially. He already has history with Ivankov so maybe he was actually a part of them at some point too. Maybe he was kicked out in the past because he was too much of a villain himself.
I think it was probably more along the lines of Crocodile providing advocated for "become so big/strong they have to negotiate" as opposed to the more total reform the revos seem to want. Like I bet he pitched operation Utopia to Dragon and got shut down
I love how genuinely you you are in these videos Matt. Mad respect and so glad you can monetize something by you’re truly passionate and excited about. It’s so rare to see an ‘influencer’ who I can confidently say is are not putting in airs but just being themselves and passionate as hell about their subject matter. It’s dope af and I wish you nothing but success and happiness.
Can't believe T bone died. And oda made it perfectly with the poor and forgotten turning on the marines who probably don't help them due to the heavenly tribute being a thing. Though the scene where buggy kept his word and the pirates treated him like a champ was cool But crazy someone as strong as t bone went. Anyone is on the table now Also love how we are getting more marine and revolutionary army content. I bet when we get back to egghead everything will be nuts
@@jamesvach6698 which honestly gives T bone a strange moral system in being the first spark to cause more chaos and destruction when it's for a good cause while also not trying to directly help the people who are starving. Best guess is he felt guilt for it and just let it happen as t bone is the type that would try to talk to the government to give food to people as marine ships have a lot of food
This is a perfect 10/10 chapter for me. It's all such an emotional rollercoaster. I'm putting money that when this gets animated, it's getting top tier treatment alongside the likes of 1015.
He’s like one of the favourite marines for the fans but he’s not relevant enough in the story to impact it in a big way yet he is known to us and most ppl probably like him. Probably to gain sympathy for marines and also we see the impact of the cross guild.
Possibly to show the marines good or bad are not above being targeted by people out of desperation. Obviously, the ones we have seen who are corrupt or the ones whom we hate would be ideal targets (I have a list of marines I wouldn't mind seeing kick the bucket) but clearly in this case there is little distinction regardless of whether the individual in question deserves to die or not. It might also be a factor that the marines are often seen as protecting the interests of the world government and those corrupt leaders or individuals who cause the suffering of the common individuals in the first place. In that viewpoint anyone who is working in the marines regardless of their intentions and morality are supporting willingly or not the starvation and suffering that drives people to do this in the first place.
As I was reading the chapter I sort of realized maybe Mihawk looks surprised when Buggy is giving his speech and I remember him talking about Luffy having mysterious power of making allies in unfavorable situations. Doesn't it look like some certain clown pirate we know. Buggy might not be the strongest, or smartest but he has by the fate would have it a good following, some of the pirates under him are pretty strong and he has made allies ( well not completely but they are sort of acquainted ), so I don't know, maybe I'm stretching but buggy's speech reminded my of luffy's power to draw people close to him. Not the same, just similar.
Honestly I wouldn't mind too. It's not just about strength, every yonko/pirate has his own dream (strength, fame, freedom, money, family...). Baggy made to the top by just being Baggy, being a clown,a joke.
Buggy Regaining his Ambition is an interessting thing, didnt oda state in an interview that buggy would be one of the strongest chars if he had the ambition ( i could be wrong and quick google search didnt result in anything so let me know if anyone knows more), also if nothing else Ambition = stronger haki right ? soo could buggy acctually become a fighting char that is not Oneshotet by anything ?
All I can think about after this chapter is when Cross Guild somehow makes it to Laughtale, Crocodile realizes his Dream is in sight and becomes as motivated as Buggy to get the One Piece. And just as Buggy and Crocodile strike an epic pose or whatever ordering Cross Guild to head towards Laughtale, we cut to Mihawk behind them thinking, “God dammit now there’s two of them.”
I love this development for Buggy since Orange Town we were made to think Buggy was just hung up about Shanks accidentally making him lose his treasure map and eating a Devil Fruit. But in reality behind all the complaints he believed Shanks was the one most worthy to succeed Roger and assumed he was turning his back on carrying Roger's Will. In another world he might've been his right hand. Despite being the Black Sheep of the crew he wanted to carry Roger's wish just as much.
I also like this, especially since the impression I got from him was that he was someone who had big dreams but was not willing to risk his neck (unless he thought he could succeed without dying). He seemed to be someone content to rule over his own small place in the world and avoid the power struggles that come from those risking their lives for their dreams. Clearly, I was mistaken.
I really want a moment where buggy truly realises and accepts that luffy and his crew were the ones Roger was waiting for Something along the lines of him going: "we were too early, but they were just on time"
RIP to T-Bone, a good Marine, and an even better man. Honestly, Buggy calling out Mihawk and Crocodile for thinking small is kinda badass. In terms of power, he's not even close to them, but he's got more pirate in him than both of them combined. Crocodile and Mihawk are trying to run a business, and in that sense they are being pragmatic, but without Buggy's charisma, they would not be able to sustain Cross Guild.
Buggy's followers admiring him and following him to the point of absurdity is his major advantage over them. They can't get rid of him without tearing the organization apart. The people in Cross Guild follow him, not them. Rest in peace T-Bone, you left the world too soon.
Its kind of bittersweet for Moda because she probably knows about the Mera-Mera from Ace reuniting her with her parents. So she was once again helped by the fruits user, just not Ace this time.
Also it’s interesting to note that it seems to be suggesting that Garp is not in fact part of Sword, with Hina saying that Garp “teamed up” with them to save Coby. Of course, that’s from the scans at least. We’ll see if the wording is different in the official!
Sword members are active marines, Garp and Sengoku are both semi-retired. So it make sense he's not part of sword, he's probably with them to groom them to become good marines.
I really liked T-Bone because he was one of those side characters that appeared only a few times and here I hoped one day we get another fight scene with him
My thoughts & opinions of the chapter: 1. When seeing the conversation that Buggy had with Crocodile & Mihawk, and his flashback with Shanks, as well as the speech he had with his followers, I am now starting to think that this is the 1st step towards the Genius Jester's character development which may become as big as Usopp & Momonosuke had! 2. While the part about the Revolutionary Army was great! I question if the very next chapter will focus on them. Or we will return to Egghead, which could complete the order of all the current Emperors doing some incredible moments! Or just like before, the very next chapter could be something about the Kuja Pirates themselves.
The suit change got me forcsome reason. I'm sure you didnt film the outside bit actually in the middle of the review but it just made me laugh thinking you changed twice for the bit.
I love how buggy says most pirates go to sea to become the king of the pirates when mihawk only became a pirate because he wanted to fight strong people. He was only labeled a pirate because he killed marines.
I love your breakdown of T-Bone and pointing out Oda could have just made someone up but choose a random Marine that had a good alignment. I think Oda is making a point on how final saga is gonna have some stakes.
I think this is the moment where we see buggy’s true strength and ability, whether its through sheer luck or charisma or not, he managed to find himself in this position through accident, what could buggy do when he WANTS something and sets out to get it? I think whether it’s through winning them over or playing with their goals and interests, buggy will by the end of the story have mihawk and crocodile do what he wants and that’ll be the most dangerous thing about him
This chapter made me to seriously champion Buggy for going towards the One Piece. He called out to Crocodile and Mihawk (who he is afraid of) as cowards for not wanting to want it all. I half expected a conquerors haki bloom moment. CAPTAIN BUGGY!!!
i think what did for Buggy was how cringy Crocodile and Mihawk must looked and sound like to him, Buggy spend half of his life in front of the strongest of the world he himself is weak so he allows himself to do the thing he dose but seeing strong people doing the same shit he dose he cant stand it because he knows how real strong people act. note both Crocodile and Mihawk when after the persons who are qualified to be the next pirate king they both failed in their own way, Crocodile was defeated and lost his ambition and Mihawk was befriend and supressed his ambition.

I've gotten to the point in my life where I'm a 35-year-old woman with a kid, typing boring numbers at work while listening to a teenager passionately talking about fictional pirates and marines and what happened in the newest chapter. Life is beautiful. :D Also, RIP, T-Bone, he was a cool guy.
This chapter not only give me more insight on buggy's character development but it gives more on shanks character where he doesn't want to be king but a gatekeeper to the king of the pirates and buggy who saw shanks as a equal kinda doubt shanks loyalty to roger who they both look up too
I'm glad you spent a decent amount of time talking about T-Bone. He deserved the eulogy! Like man, I was actually sad seeing HIM being a victim of the Cross Guild's bounties, of all Marines.
Shanks and Buggy should already have all the Road Poniglyphs since they travelled with Roger. They only missed a few Islands due to "Buggy/Usopp" illness. Also i want to see Buggy awaken his fruit by accident and split atoms.
It's vids like this that kept me subscribed to Tekken 101 for literally years... Since that dollar general days, since the bleach days, since Barry was a naked brick. This guy is incredible!
While they’re incredibly powerful in their own right and respected, Crocodile and Mihawk aren’t really pirates. Crocodile is a businessman, Mihawk is a bounty hunter/swordsman. Buggy is far more of a pirate than either one of them, and his revelation in this chapter makes him even more so.
Its already starting, the race for the throne that Doflamingo spoke of. The SH, Blackbeard and Shanks have the poneglyphs 3 at least, Kid and Law were in it as well but got taken down, so now the last emperor joins in as well. I think this will be the fight that Oda said that it will make Marineford look small in comparison. Also when i read that T-bone died i thought imediately of you how would you react to that and i was right in my prediction XD
This chapter had to be my favorite chapter in the past year. Seeing Buggy finally getting the resolve to challenge Shanks and the others was great. An issue I had was with Mihawk, he seemed to be acting out of character. Calling Buggy a “cockroach” in this translation and being visibly upset/disgusted with Buggy the entire chapter. Crocodile, I understand, but Mihawk has always been reserved and indifferent to most matters. He doesn’t even need to stay there, he could just go live somewhere like Raleigh does. I think the Marines would eventually allow him that after a while since MIhawk doesn’t want to be involved with anyone. Maybe he’s just changed or we don’t have all the information yet but it does feel like Mihawk is quite emotionally invested in that humble cross-guilds of theirs.
That's definitely not outta character for mihawk. Bro is a roasting God. He's been on buggys ass ever since they guilded up together anytime they're on panel together he's mean af to him
@@mylordsarentino4402 That + i believe Mihawk respects One Piece/Pirate King even more than his title of World's Strongest Swordsman. Back in Baratie he even said to Luffy that his goal is much harder than Zoro's. Another headcannon but maybe Shanks thought the same way and that could be the reason why he didn't make a move for One Piece all those years, and with their friendly rivalry if they ever disgused it imagine how infuriating would be for Mihawk to compare himself and Shanks to Buggy. Those super OP guys respecting the title while a "nobody" thinks he can claim it.
I’ve always been a fan of T-Bone (I love knight aesthetics and lawful good characters) so I really appreciate the respect you gave him during this chapter. This was probably the best way for him to die though since as you said, he would have wanted his death to save someone.
Hear me out: The person CARRIBOU is trying to get favour with is BUGGY D. CLOWN (or crocodile). If the cross guild is getting involved in the hunt it makes sense that Carribou who knows everything the Straw Hats know would be the way the actually get the necessary things to compete for the throne (poneglyphs, ancient weapons, etc.) He could steal them from the straw hats if he hasnt already
I've seen a lot of people genually sad about T-Bone, he was the realest marine ever, out of all random marines that could have gone, why T-Bone? He was genually good Almost makes me hate the Cross-Guild, as much as I wanna cheer for Buggy. I'm waiting for that video on him Also, Buggy might genually have Conquerors.
We've seen that Haki manifests in different ways, like Usopp's observation haki being long range sensing. Buggy may not be a traditional conqueror, but he's most certainly got pirate charisma maxed to 100, and he does conquer the admiration of those pirates. That could be his manifestation of Conqueror's Haki, and honestly if he ever does show it, it'll only increase his legend even more. His subordinates will be like of course the great Buggy-sama who was on the Pirate King's crew has Conqueror's Haki. It's almost inevitable.
Also not to mention buggy and shanks have the best chances of finding the one piece right now because while they might not know where laugh tale is, they travelled across the world with roger and they know where its not, that generally narrows things down a good amount
Regular fans: we finally get to know about Imu Real men: Buggy is standing up for himself and declaring himself to be a pirate king candidate; T-Bone was too good of a man to live; and Moda survived
This chapter was what really cemented my respect for Buggy. Never was a part of the "Buggy is so great, Buggy D Clown etc" crowd, but the guy literally looked death in the eyes and said "fuck you"
No he's the definition of a guy who things he can get through life based on his charm alone, so he's arrogant and smug with nothing to back it up. And that's why I hate him.
T-Bone's death really shows how the bounty system is bad, no matter who sets up the bounties (be it marines or pirates or revolutionaries), there will be innocent and good people hurt.
Agreed. I have seen similar things happen in stories. When it comes to collecting bounties, there is always the expected factor of collateral damage or that good people will be hurt.
He literally fulfills the condition that Luffy set at the beginning of the story
sasuga buggy-sama
Goda foreshadowing
@Shafwan Dito really? 😂
Well Roger said the next generation will surpass them. Buggy, Shanks & Mihawk aren't part of that generation
@@davidortiz3094 Actually those guys are the generation after Roger's
Well-said.
Smh I thought we knew that One Piece is just about fighting and who's stronger smh smh
Yeh I could never EVER call him weak, Tekking emphasized repeatedly how he cut down a Sea King, ya don’t see civilians pulling that off 🤣
Will of T. > will of D.
Yeah people who actually called T-Bone weak are pretty weak themselves since you don't see normal people become a Vice Admiral and kill a Sea King
T-bone probably the type to apologise to the guy for his family's hardship right before he died
That’s why he’s so goated
I wouldn't wonder if T-bone lived in the very same country and was going through starvation as well. He would gladly give his life if it helped an innocent citizen.
T-bone is the one piece equivalent of Drake now
my headcanon is that he willingly sacrifised himself knowing how poor they are
i loved t-bone it was so sad when i saw him dead
These last few chapters are just Oda reminding us that there are many moving parts in this story and not everything revolves around the straw hats. Gotta love it.
I do like that. While their actions do make waves in the world, the world continues spinning regardless of what they are doing.
Just like when he called Shanks a coward for not wanting to claim the One Piece anymore after the execution of Roger
I thought I was maxed out on love for Buggy, but Oda did it again
That thought with Crocodile calming down and saying; "...maybe I can do it this time...."
Chills 🔥

Buggy said he will be god of luffy is king
Yeah and either croc or mihawk could one shot all the pirates and call it a Wednesday... numbers doesn't mean much when you have Coc and can slice up mountains instantly.
@@Alex111119But then they lose the organization that they would be trying to lead lmao. There’s no point in that, so they will just deal with it and keep Buggy as the figurehead. Not everything in the story revolves around powerscaling my dude.
This was wonderfully put. I'm very excited to see what a genuinely motivated Buggy can do.
His fight with Zoro is super underrated as well
Thank you tekking, for giving Tbone the respect and love he deserves.
T-Bone is in my top 5 favorite marine members
I was surprised at how hard it hit me
@@togorconquest2372 Agreed, he was one of the marines that always came to mind when I thought of the good ones in the organization.
At that time I always get excited to see him again and see oh yeah captain T-bone how could I forget!
I like that Moda's story started with her saving Ace and now she's gotten saved by Sabo
I could be wrong but i think this is the first time we've seen someone colecting a bounty in the series
It seems to be a rare occurrence to see.
I think blackbeard using ace as leverage before the marine ford war arc can count as getting a bounty filled out.
Only took 1081 chapters, very cool😂
Didn't Masterton hand over some rando for a small bounty in logue town filler? I guess it's not cannon
I think Zoro collected one or more in Anime fillers as well
Chapter about Kidd and Shanks - Amazing
Chapter about Garp, Kuzan, Blackbeard and Law - Outstanding
Chapter about Buggy - A chapter far and above the rest
Buggy has been one of my favorite's for a few years now and everytime he is shown on page you know and are granted something worth reading.
They all hit well in a different way, it's hard to compare them, but if I had to do it, it would be in the order you described.
Buggy over here told Crocodile “my Captain was the Pirate King mf, you ain’t no Pirate” when they were talking about the Utopia. I honestly respect Buggy a little more for that tbh. He spoke like a True Pirate this Chapter
He isn't a pirate and he isn't trying to be a pirate lmao why would he care about that
@Dr. Weewe Mongoose in Buggy's view, a pirate is someone who is after treasure. That's why his long overreaching arc of finding Captain John's treasure is almost close to ending.

Another sad truth of our world ... The police and the army are better off then the ones they are protecting.
Than the average that is, there are always the super elite.
I mean same as enter the military in really life is often used as a way to escape poverty but we also know even in the one piecd world most marines are weak and can die easily

the WG was right in their underestimating of him
the spirit of a king
Then he should unlock conquerors haki as well?
I'm genuinely devastated by Travis D Boner's demise especially because I recently rewatched the whole of Water 7
He was a saint a real hero a real saint unlike some animes were they just throw those tittles randomly
Yeah I'm glad I recently rewatched Water Seven. It made his death hit a little harder.
He is waiting shanks to move first

@@davidortiz3094 Well duh. Roger used the One Piece as bait to find the next Joyboy. If Shanks immediately went and claimed it before Luffy was ever born then that would be the end of it and Luffy would have never set out to sea.

The fact that Buggy is looking down on them, is a stinging psychological wound. And killing Buggy would do nothing to heal that. Killing him would only worsen their standing in the world.
@@animeproblem1070
His character makes him unworthy of respect he's just failed upwards to the point he believes his own bs
Buggy might be pathetic man with ungodly luck, but he knows what a true pirate looks like, he was on the ship of the best, so i think he talking to Croc and mihawk about how a real pirate is is pretty cool. Also he might know the direction of where Laugh tale is, or even the exact location
if nothing else, he knows where 3 Poneglyphs are and how to get them. Whether or not he knows the 4th was moved is up for debate.
Buggy, the man who maxed out his charisma & luck stats, then put what was left into intelligence to create Buggy Balls.
😂
My first reaction was huge respect for Buggy. He’s a pirate Roger would’ve been proud of - and as we’ve seen in the story interest in the one piece was waning, Doffy and Bellamy laughed at Luffy for chasing it. I’m glad Buggy is keeping his eye on the prize
i wonder how roger felt about Shanks and Buggy
Crocodile's utopia dream is very interesting. Sounds like he could be persuaded to join the Revs potentially.
He already has history with Ivankov so maybe he was actually a part of them at some point too.
Maybe he was kicked out in the past because he was too much of a villain himself.
I think it was probably more along the lines of Crocodile providing advocated for "become so big/strong they have to negotiate" as opposed to the more total reform the revos seem to want. Like I bet he pitched operation Utopia to Dragon and got shut down
I think the Utopia to him is just him having complete control over everything and not a systemic and cultural revolution like Dragon is planning
Though the scene where buggy kept his word and the pirates treated him like a champ was cool
But crazy someone as strong as t bone went. Anyone is on the table now
Also love how we are getting more marine and revolutionary army content. I bet when we get back to egghead everything will be nuts
Considering t-bone was stationed in a notoriously poor area, he was probably there by his own request to help people
@@Secretfire21 yeah and with how the old man was acting. It seemed t bone didn't put up a fight so the guilt was hurting him a ton.
@@Secretfire21 Yes he was that kind of person.
@@ivanbluecool He probably didn't. The old man clearly only did this out of desperation and T-Bone would have understood that.
I'm putting money that when this gets animated, it's getting top tier treatment alongside the likes of 1015.
a huge respect to Buggy ❤ The future King of Pirates
I wouldn’t be surprised if Buggy manifests conquerors. He’s definitely got ambition and the drive to be king. You love to see it 🔥🔥
T-bone was my favorite marine, may he rest in peace. Why’d Oda have to choose him 😢
He’s like one of the favourite marines for the fans but he’s not relevant enough in the story to impact it in a big way yet he is known to us and most ppl probably like him. Probably to gain sympathy for marines and also we see the impact of the cross guild.
To make an impact
He could have killed off Dalmatian IDK lol
Since he is the easiest one to be killed
I wont get mad if Buggy arrives first at Laugh Tale, really Oda has been developing his character pretty well.
I'm genuinely so happy your giving T-bone the respect he deserves. He's my favorite marine right next to Jango and Fullbody
I really want a moment where buggy truly realises and accepts that luffy and his crew were the ones Roger was waiting for
Something along the lines of him going: "we were too early, but they were just on time"
RIP to T-Bone, a good Marine, and an even better man.
I still belive he's lowkey a SWORD
Sword members are active marines, Garp and Sengoku are both semi-retired. So it make sense he's not part of sword, he's probably with them to groom them to become good marines.
I really liked T-Bone because he was one of those side characters that appeared only a few times and here I hoped one day we get another fight scene with him
My thoughts & opinions of the chapter:
But apparently no steaks.... RIP T-Bone
@@reves3333 shanks lost his ambitions after Blackbeard beat his ass. I don't even know why he still has conquerors haki. I think that's an error on oda part
@@Dave_of_Mordor lol what ? you are born with it ,and you have it forever till you die, they only way to "lose" haki is if you are dead sick like a old whitebeard ,for expamle he was not able to use ACOC/COC haki and even normal armament/Observation haki at marineford
@@membersonly807 not really, kaido told his men to break luffy and kidd's will (haki) because he wanted them to join him but without the conqueror due to his past with the rock pirates. he probably found out that people can lose their conqueror haki if he can make them lose hope like he did to moria after he wiped out his whole crew.
yeah i'm saying that moria used to have conqueror haki
Buggy is kinda old to get conqueror Haki. He can get stronger in strength.
I’m pretty sure Tekking & I are the same age, so he should be turning 30 this year :) & yes this also my way of cleansing my mind off work!
@@Hypertoniclemon Really? He looks like 16-17 max. That's some impressive genes. Also, high five, fellow person of culture. :D
Buggy character development goes hard
I think Shanks him self stated before that it was Blackbeard who gave him the scar.
Yes, what we don't know is when it happened. Which is important
When we got the spoilers I got genuinely sad, I saw T-Bone as a Marine to help lead in the new era as a pillar of kindness, he was taken too soon 🙁
Same here, I thought he would survive and lead the new marines after the final conflict. The world is poorer for him being gone.
It's vids like this that kept me subscribed to Tekken 101 for literally years... Since that dollar general days, since the bleach days, since Barry was a naked brick. This guy is incredible!
Thank you for writing such a beautiful eulogy for Travis D Boner❤️ he will be missed 🙁
This is absolutely the dedication the one piece community loves, and I’m here for it. Been watching you for a long time tekking, and I’ll never stop
Man, you are actually the best reviewer out there
I’ve always been a fan of T-Bone (I love knight aesthetics and lawful good characters) so I really appreciate the respect you gave him during this chapter. This was probably the best way for him to die though since as you said, he would have wanted his death to save someone.
I suppose that is a form of silver lining. Still hurts but I guess that is a positive way to see things.
Hear me out:
The person CARRIBOU is trying to get favour with is BUGGY D. CLOWN (or crocodile).
If the cross guild is getting involved in the hunt it makes sense that Carribou who knows everything the Straw Hats know would be the way the actually get the necessary things to compete for the throne (poneglyphs, ancient weapons, etc.)
He could steal them from the straw hats if he hasnt already
I've seen a lot of people genually sad about T-Bone, he was the realest marine ever, out of all random marines that could have gone, why T-Bone? He was genually good
Almost makes me hate the Cross-Guild, as much as I wanna cheer for Buggy.
I'm waiting for that video on him
Also, Buggy might genually have Conquerors.
Regular fans: we finally get to know about Imu
Real men: Buggy is standing up for himself and declaring himself to be a pirate king candidate; T-Bone was too good of a man to live; and Moda survived
I genuinely got sad when I saw that T-bone died. It was years since I last saw him but I recognized him instantly. I remembered really liking him.
This chapter was what really cemented my respect for Buggy. Never was a part of the "Buggy is so great, Buggy D Clown etc" crowd, but the guy literally looked death in the eyes and said "fuck you"
Buggy is the definition of work smart, not hard. For sure Buggy Sama is a mastery strategist and tactician. Genius in disguise. 👌
I’m so happy about your sentiment about T-Bone. I feel the same. Unironically one of my favorite characters because of all those reasons. RIP man
