Film description: On top of his game, the brilliant but arrogant New York City neurosurgeon with the magic hands, Dr. Stephen Strange, is more interested in fame and his perfect success rate than saving lives. Then, humbled by a nearly fatal car accident, and with both his impeccable career and his gifted hands mangled beyond repair, Strange heads to Kamar-Taj, a mystical place of healing in Kathmandu, begging the Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme and leader of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, for salvation and enlightenment. However, war is brewing over, as the corrupt, power-obsessed former disciple, Kaecilius, and his Zealots, are bent on unlocking an unfathomable parallel dimension, and usher in a new dark era on Earth. Now, the world is on the verge of destruction. Can Doctor Strange harness his extraordinary newfound abilities, and accept his destiny?

😂Its funny when Wong laughed and Strange and Mordo looked at him😂
“You really should’ve stolen the whole book. Because the warnings…the warnings come AFTER the spell.”
He's laughing because he remembers Strange saying that the first time he was caught studying the book and the time stone. And I think he's right, warnings first to keep you from making bad decisions. That's why Kaecilius didn't know what that was when Strange started explaining it to him. And he didn't want to listen. The Ancient one tried to warn him, because she did it first but didn't go any further more, that's why she didn't seem to be under the influence of the dark dimension power and yet she would draw power from it, she had a higher knowledge on harnessing that power without being corrupted and Kaecilius wasn't ready to receive that knowledge yet. I would find it funny too when Strange says this if he said it to me once I would understand why and laugh. But knowing Dr Strange, he would be ignorant to the warnings if they came first, I mean look at Dr Strange 2, he was constantly warned verbally warned but broke the rules anyway just so he can defeat Wanda, endangering the entire multiverse when he finally chose to dream walk. But then again.......
I feel bad for Mordo. He would’ve been a great hero if they didn’t break him down like that.
I don't, he was being an absolute fool, can't tell the difference between rules and doing the right thing.
@@skyfaller3d417Well, the whole motto about "the ends will justify the means" does not always bode well. People don't often realize that solving any problems this way can generate more troubles later.
In fact, this turns out to be true in Multiverse of Madness. He creates an incursion of Earth-616 and needs to resolve it.
@@skyfaller3d417mordo is 100% correct here. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. It doesn’t matter why you broke the rules, there is ALWAYS unintended consequences. What Mordo understands more then anyone is that by breaking the natural and drawing from the dark dimension law the Ancient One although good intentioned nearly brought about the destruction of the earth. GOOD and EVIL is a matter of perspective. In WW2 the Nazis saw themselves as good and the Allies as evil.
The point mordo is getting at is he might have saved the earth but by breaking the natural law as the ancient one did they will bring about unintended consequences that next time might not be stopped.
You can’t justify doing wrong because it brings a good result.
@@phatphan1403 If there were more troubles later, your 'ends' aren't really fitting the definition. The entire point of that philosophy is to look at the long term consequences instead of doing whatever people are happy with at the moment.

“There is always a price to pay.”
Somewhere a RBMK reactor is exploding
“I understood that reference.”
Actually it comes straight from the Doctor Strange comics, from the "End of Magic" story arc. Basically Doctor Strange is in perpetual agony because the laws of magic decree that a magic wielder must pay a price for every spell they cast (basically a 'for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction' thing) until Strange finally can't bear it any longer and creates a being to absorb his pain for him. The being becomes sentient and isn't very impressed with being used as Strange's agony dumpster, and goes on a rampage.
What happened to Kaecilius and his two followers here served as an example in No Way Home when he told Peter "Be careful what you wish for."
More like "for fuck sakes peter shut the fuck up and stop altering the spell".
In Peter’s defense, Dr. Strange told him that this spell would erase even his friends memories of him while he was performing said spell. Dr. Strange should have sat him down and explained how the spell worked and who should not be effected by the spell. That way there was no confusion and there would be total silence for Dr. Strange to do his spell. I understand the concept of “Be careful what you wish for”, but there are stories out there where people who think carefully about their wishes and it turns out just fine. That’s what Dr. Strange should have done or even told him that he could plead to the school about not letting his friends in so they didn’t even have to do the wish. At the end of the day, Dr. Strange should have been the adult mentoring young Parker and for once put away his ego for one day to help the young man.
@@AshuraShadow08 There is that aspect of blame falling on Strange too, yes, but for someone who's supposed to be pretty smart you'd think Peter would stop trying to alter the spell when it's very clear it's becoming unstable. Dr. Strange pulled a Karen. "I couldn't beat you, so I went and talked to your manager, and he agreed with me."

The Marvel Cinematic Universe did a fantastic job of translating Steve Ditko's mind-bending artwork into the Dark Dimension scenes.
"Yes, we won. By violating natural laws." Hey dude, magic is all about violating natural laws. Dormammu ISN"T part of natural law. So duh, using magic to win IS by definition violating natural laws.
@@Amenomihashira that's sheer hypocrisy. He woudn't brag about being natural law virgin in dark dimension
Any other comic book nerds notice Mordo's "the bill comes due" and how it is lifted directly from the story arc "The End of Magic" in which Doctor Strange pays a physical price for each and every spell he casts? (spoiler: he is in perpetual physical pain because the laws of magic state that every spell he casts against an enemy causes an equal reaction in his own body - until the day he cannot bear it any longer and creates a being to absorb his pain for him - who becomes sentient and isn't very impressed with being Strange's pain dumpster)

The price, that Mordo was speaking, was Mordo. The consequence of turning back time to save the world was Mordo leaving and starting to fight against Kamer-Taj.

@@ludonymous526 And both got less than stellar outcomes. (although Kaecilius and his followers got the short end of the stick)
Mordo mentions they fixed things by breaking the natural law, but I argue it was repaired. Their dimension's natural state was not atemporal, breaches in the dimensional walls mean other anomalies can drift in, restoring the state if things to before the defenses were broken means they merely reset things to the default.
The Dr. Strange movies genuinely terrify me with scenes like this.
"The bill always comes due!" he says.
Well, in that case, I think I'll just allow Earth to be absorbed into the Dark Dimension and not save any of the lives around me, and leave New York destroyed. That's a much better deal so we can avoid whatever consequences come up because I used the Time Stone to do time things.

Doctor Strange (2016) was badass.
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness (2022) was insane.
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness (2022) was also weird... but in a good way... just, in a weird good way.
MoM was just straight garbage, it was a Wanda and Chavez movie, not a Dr Strange movie. M-She-U in full effect. Poorly written trash that failed
I didn't really like it honestly.
MoM tried and succeeded in some parts, but failed in others. America was the best written character in the movie, and the effects were outstanding. However Strange’s character arc felt rushed and incomplete, Wanda had no character arc, especially because she was thrust into the role of a villain without the proper justification. WandaVision justifies a distrust mother figure wanting to put her life back together, but not a genocidal murder who doesn’t think about murdering another version of herself.
@@quetzalcoatl1013 America had no character arc, she was basically a plot device. She could have been replaced by a magic gizmo and it wouldn't have made any difference!
They absolutely wasted mordo. What a character arc. Started out as a devout sorcerer and by the end has become disillusioned due to strange and the ancient ones breaking of the rules. A character arc they could’ve delved deeper into. But all we got was an alternate version in MoM. Kind of hoping they’ll bring earth 616 mordo back at some point

Yes, yes. Finally someone say it.
He's a joke in MOM. Scott Derrickson nailed it in this one, he was the perfect director and writer for Doctor Strange, everything he wanted for the sequel was insane, beautiful and amazing, but we know how it ended...
Sam Raimi is the one who directed MoM and his version of the events is what made Maximoff evil and ruined Strange over the course of the film and even at the end. You may as well blame him for the events, after Scott Derrickson dropped out.
@@abhinavbhargava978 waldron is the problem since he did the writing and didn't even watch wandavision.
@@jovanlopez5284 Apparently Waldron trashed the script of Derrickson's planned version of the film rather than continuing it after he left and rewrote it entirely. This resulted in the movie we got.
What would Mordo have preferred? The end of the world?
exactly my thought. some people are just too caged in their beliefs.
probably. he'd prefer the end of the world rather than breaking the law, which in multiverse, makes a lot of sense. look what happened to sinister strange, the world is doomed anyway.
The bill comes due, always. Because there is always someone who deems themselves to be the ultimate arbiter of morality. That they and they alone are worthy of ultimate power over all else.
What?
I wish we got an actual sequal to this movie.
They will return in dr. Strange 3
I thought Kaecilius was an underrated villain. Mads did a great job. His movements were amazing, he was menacing, and he'd go straight on the attack without messing around too much with speeches.
I really wanted the sequel about Mordo become 1st threat for Strange.
and then Mordo's arc resolved off screen we guess?
You know, I think Mordo is still being built up even now. They've got Chiwetel Ejiofor for Christ's sake. The guy's gotten so complex it's hard to even hate him-but in the comics, it's actually pretty easy. We'll see what happens in Doctor Strange 3.
I mean based on Stranges comment after seeing Mordo's 838 variant, he is still out there AND has apparently tried to kill Strange a few times.
2:33 even the Marvel universe has their own form of the Prime Directive. Nice.
Since Strange went with Clea into the Dark Dimension to fix an incursion, wonder if they would meet again?
I don't think Kaecilius and co are physically recognizable anymore lol
considering Marvel nowadays which rely too heavy on nostalgia from cameo and comedy, they'd probably meet again. and I won't be surprised if Dormammu and Kaecilius just vibing and being best bud.
Mordo is like.. We say it like KJ or something dis likable things that go into good things
The MCU’s consistently and attention to detail is amazing. I just realized the symbol that glows red on his forehead is a rune like the ones from WandaVision.
They got what they wanted...but, in doing so, they lost what they had.
Mads Mikkelsen is a very nice actor. Love him
How many people noticed that the primary colors of the Infinity Stones were used a lot during this movie!!!!!!!!!! It was one of the first things I noticed while watching especially during the battle of Hong Kong and with Dormamoo!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was really hoping the second Dr. Strange was going to be Mordo as the baddie. I really liked him
I had another wish. Scarlet Witch being villain would be controlled by biggest threatment villain - Nightmare. Then it could be final battle Strange vs Nightmare at this MotM.
I guess Kaecilius is gonna have a Hella fun time 😏
It's like...."OK Mordo, how do you think we should have resolved this situation?"
Yeah, that one always bugged me... like... well smartass, what's your solution then? Allow the entire universe to be consumed by the dark dimension because some arbitrary rules written by fallible humans were bent a little?
If we look closely we can see them turning into mindless ones
To this day, other than Hal Jordan…Strange has been the only one to defeat a galactic level entity by himself…but that wouldnt have allowed the MCU timeline…LOLOL

With Sam Raimi directing, I'm calmly hoping for the most awkward meet-the-family dinner in history. Dormammu being Clea's uncle is just too hard to pass up.
Mordo teaming up with Dormammu would completely go against his motivation and the first movie. He believes this world has too many of those who bend the mystical powers to satisfy what they want. So his plans is to take out all sorcerers, whether they are actual combatants or not. He will ensure Rules and Order is attained. @@elijahlivingston9477agreed. He could probably use it to start to see the loop and also Strange would disclose where the time stone was. He wasn't going to let it be seen until Stark was injured and having seen how Stark wins the overall battle has to let it go for the better outcome.
Come to think of it, if the books were written in a style that has a book that's meant to be read from right to left, and Strange read the book from left to right, the warnings would've been before the spells.
