  • The foundation is pretty much done and now I started working with the logs. The first joint is now ready and it looks like I might have a cabin some day :)

For me, the ideas in ruclips.net/user/postUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.

So far I have started from the first video of this playlist and this project is looking like it was and still is a fun project. I will continue to watch the rest of the playlist as I really want to do this once I get to our forever homestead after our move in a couple years.

Hello form Czeh republic. Hint: If you are not sure, that your cut will be straight on both sides of log, try to start on one side to 1/3 of cut and than cut from oposite side, to watch cut closer to you and maneuver with saw by pulling. With this type of saw, you have no control in push. Only in pull. So do 2nd third of cut and than go back to first stand (side) and finish it. Or turn log to side, do 1cm deep cut and than turn it to another side and do 1cm deep cut as well. It will guide your saw down through cut.

Hei, tosi kiva hirsi mökki. Is there some where I can get the dovetail template? Also the details on how to notchout the top and bottom to fit the logs tight?
    Kiitos Seanilta

Cool stuff man. I always wondered why the ends of cut lumber was painted. In Philippines we don't build a lot with wood due to the termites and other wood boring pests. Most houses are built with concrete blocks. I did some carpentry when I was younger and I miss the smell of cut wood. Cheers and God Bless. ~Mike and Ester~

Wood is definitely beautiful material. Luckily we don't have termites but don't worry, we have a lot of other irritating bugs :)

      It's actually a compound dovetail.
They are harder to cut and the hold water.
He should have stayed with a half dovetail.

Hey. I would also like to know how to measure those joints.

Tein sellaisen sapluunan 3d-ohjelmalla tuohon.

Aluksi yritin tuo palaneen saunan hirsillä hakea: jakaa sisäsivua kolmeen ja ulkosivua 4:ään osaan, jotta siihen jotta siihen pyrstön tyveen tulis tulis sopivaa "vääristymää"... let see.
