    In this video I build a tiny log cabin in my backyard from the scratch. All the wood is from my property, as I had to cut all these trees to make space for our home. The cabin ends up being my small workshop for future projects.
    Pretty much everything I do in this video is my first time doing it, so don't expect a professional outcome. However the video hopefully inspires someone to start their own project. Just keep working, you'll learn a lot and maybe also end up having something useful.
    This video is a compilation of my earlier videos. If you are interested in seeing some parts of the process in more detail, please take a look at my older videos. You'll find some explanations, mistakes and insights.

    an excellent book if you are considering building a shed. While you may not choose to build one exactly as shown in this book ruclips.net/user/postUgkxT9ExVpR-3A-9rpRqx8vzXKZ3BMMTg_KH , the information found in here would be useful in any shed building project. The information is well presented, with color photos throughout. As was noted in a previous review, though some dimensions are given, the complete plans must be ordered elsewhere. I ordered the plans for the gambrel shed and did notice a few discrepancies between the book and plans however.

      It is better to spray the walls with ecological resin diluted with some slow-burning thinner, e.g. primus oil. Kerosene quickly 1 - soaks up 2 - dries up 3 - quickly loses its pleasant smell. You can also spray with a mixture of: coniferous resin + added beeswax or paraffin / stearin dissolved also with natural refined turpentine from resin. It quickly soaks into the unevenness and pores of the wood, dragging the resin + the listed additives behind it, its smell is really pleasant and the thin layer of dried resin will effectively protect the beams against moisture ...
      You need to remember about personal safety (mask with a vapor absorber) and fire safety, and clothing should be made of natural fibers.

    • @Galileon1
      @Galileon1 3 года назад +2

      @@FinnishPlayground The best and most practical thing to do is to impregnate the beams and boards before embedding them in the building, then they are thoroughly treated with a preservative on all sides. Then, any side walls can be painted with a brush. It works - but with kerosene as a thinner for resins, wax or paraffin !! - also against insects that dig and eat wood from the inside, which can destroy the entire construction effort in a few seasons.

    Coming from a "Daddy's girl" who knows & understands the true craftsmanship of a carpenter, I spent many days on the job sites with my dad. I am so impressed by the attention to detail of the dove tail, the tongue & groove, the handcrafted pegs, door jam, window frames etc. (no prefab)... watching this brought back the smell of sawdust and wood shavings! Actually brought tears to my eyes remembering how my father did things! He's now in his 80's with Parkinson's, so just watching this brought back some wonderful memories! Thanks for all your dedication, craftsmanship & talent, but most of all thanks for sharing! Loved it!

To take a tree and cut /hew it until it was a square beam is something many would not know where to start. Your joints, dowels and everything shaped by hand are of staggering quality. I have never seen better on youtube or anywhere else. You are unique. There will be few in this world today who can match your standards. Be totally proud of what you have built, it is a stunning creation. Words fail me. Be proud of you abilities. Your tenasity, your strengths, your patience are outstanding. I am in awe. BEAUTIFUL cabin, great craftsmanship, a lot of work! It appears to have taken about 2 years to build... for one man, and worth every day of it. This cabin looks like it will last forever. You must be proud!

    Well that was a fascinating hour of my life. I'm so impressed with this, it's fantastic. Shows what can be done when you have the skills, patience, dedication, energy, vision and determination. What's clear from this is the importance of SHARP tools. Even in my prime I wouldn't have been able to do this. The accuracy is astounding. Really well done! And the 307 who gave this a thumbs down, well I don't know what to say. Superb video.
