@@joemcnamara4291 it was a spell I had to get approval from the DM. On roll20 it gives me the option to pick it up but it says I have to ask permission and he said yes.
When you said that you promised Ali that you wouldn't get her character killed I FELT that! You guys really earned that level 3, these adventures have been putting you through the wringer!
I hope you all enjoy! This one was a "blast" to do >:) edit: Noticed lack of music! I was playing it through roll20 for the whole session but there seems to have been an issue on the recording end. Hopefully we have that fixed next time!
I actually thought the TPK will bring them to Avernus. What I expected was them waking up in the same place unchanged and the party will be glad they survived the fireball but once they leave the Building all they see is All they see is Red, Fire and full of Despair everywhere.
I'm not often commenting, on vidéos. I've watched most of your DnD content, and I must admit, this is the best one i've ever seen. Love the DMing, as well as the best party I've ever seen, the characters really feel special.
'a person I'm acquainted with, they are a mechanical person. They have sustain quite serious injury and are in need of urgent attention' And the DM didn't go 'Have you tried turning them off and on again?' How can this be?
yeah technically speaking 2 of them were supposed to be straight up dead on a failed save, no saving throw. but a good DM wouldn't just GG the campaign like that when it wasn't even the players fault. if you are not wargaming, what is important is to make a good story.
@Kel'Thuzad unless we are wargaming, I totally would get pissed with the DM. its not a mistake worth ending the campaign for. the fireball was strong enough to insta kill 2 of them with full HP when they don't even have revive, its not fair and makes for terrible story.
That encounter (you know which one) is a dumpster fire. WotC royally screwed the pooch. a party of 2nd level adventurers has no business being thrown against a CR4 anything. The average damage of a 3rd level fireball (28 damage) is more HP than the average HP any 2nd level adventurer could have (a barbarian at second level, taking the average of their 2nd level d12, can only have 25HP).
It never ceases to amaze me some of the deadly encounters WotC throws at low level adventurers in their modules. I ran a starter module recently which has a manticore fight for level 1 adventurers. A fireball is par for the course and that self destruct sequence had me laughing.
I swear I'm trying to get into this because of the the skill of the GM and most players. Hoping that Cyrus' player gets the hang of things and tries to get some experience elsewhere. His random yelling, obvious inexpensive and lack of knowledge of the game and it's rules makes it almost impossible to watch his scenes. As a 30 year player myself I fully understand that you have to start somewhere. In time he will do fine I'm sure.
A fireball, lost ears, conversations with strange gods. And Steve the bucket-head zombie. It's all too much for poor Francis who consoles himself by raiding the pantry and heading off to bed.
Great episode. Love the RPG here, great to mix up the episodes between action and more roleplayibg episodes. Keep it up. Nice by Mr. Robot to handle 2 partywipes in a gracefull way :)
Love this lady & guys.. you are getting me inspired about D&D role play again. Really impressed with you all. Super sad that Rowan was absent. You're one of my favorites!
It's most likely a salvage situation, for a few characters. This encounter happened to my party and we just rolled better and were healed up when it happened so only one person was downed, but it is that deadly. The way insta-death works, you have to take enough damage to drop to 0 and then what remains has to be higher than your max HP. So, looking at Francis and Cyrus who both have 14 HP max, if they were on full HP, they'd need to take 28 damage to suffer massive damage and just die. The DM rolled 32, so Francis at least, unless he has resistance to fire, met true death. Cyrus made his save so he only took 16 damage, which put him unconscious and dying but not instantly dead. Everyone else has just enough HP that, were they at full, they'd also be unconscious. The burning hand spell probably meant Hugo and Vee would also be dead, though I believe Rowan would have legitimately been just downed. So rather than having only Rowan and Cyrus live, I think he gave the whole party a chance. The con saves he had them roll were acting as death saves, though as I know it, you don't add modifiers to death saves, so that might be home rule. But with death saves, natural 20s bring you back with 1 HP, so Hugo and Francis got lucky. The rest kept rolling saves to stabilize. So, 3 successful saves make you no longer dying but you're so unconscious until you are healed, that's why the others were still down, but alive.
I don't want the DM to get mad, because I mean this in a good way. He sounds just like the lawyer from Always Sunng in Philadelphia. The one who is always beefing with the gang.
"A whole gold piece!" Lol that made me laugh. Great session. I am in the works of prepping this adventure for some friends and very pleased at how Runaway Robot is running this. Kudos.
I immediately got sucked into this series and didn't comment on the prior episodes yet so I gotta day so far I adore this party so much! Vee is fantastic and I love their reflection of humanity. I am very curious about their father. Hugo is so well-spoken and his player I'd a truly gifted voice actor! I'm quite impressed. I look forward to learning how they earned their Rogue class! Francis too is a delight. I love bards, they are my favorite class. So I'm a little biased in saying they're an instant favorite. Cyrus is a curiosity as all Aasimar tend to be for me. I really wish for art of him because I am sooooo keen on seeing those tattoos! And also the beauty with which we were treated to in his description. I am a simple person haha. Rowan has one of the coolest names ever and I am tempted to borrow it in the future as I tend to do with all names I adore haha. I'm eager to learn more about them as well. I know she was missing in this episode and although she was played well by our fantastic DM I still missed her. And thank you to our DM for running this. I really enjoyed the temple NPCs a lot.
Absolutely top-tier content! Got a bit worried when the fireball went off, but I'd say that turned out alright in the end. Looking forward to the next one!

I love this campaign! I love how the DM handles things and shows myself creative ways for my DM future. I'm so curious what's going on and we haven't been to Avernus yet!
There is absolutely no good reason that an enemy that can cast fireball should be thrown at a Level 2 party. It just discourages exploration and doesn't really lend itself to building up to hell either as there really is just no hope of surviving it
I don't feel that way at all. There are ways to approach exploration that are safer than what they did, like rogue sneak scouting a head, but even when you just walk into the situation like they did and like my own party did, it's not impossible. We took a fireball that exact same way, several of us finished that fight with barely and HP and our main healer downed by the fireball. And I gotta say, it hasn't stopped us from clearing the dungeon or being reckless in the pursuit of loot. We are a little smarter after that but not much.
As always there are likely spoilers below, be warned!
Is it possible to have map visibility improved? It's just from your point of view, but it is aften not enough.
This was such a great episode. I loved re-watching to see myself go through all 5 stages of grief all over again 😂
🤣 thought you handled it well (especially after Rime's last episode). Enjoying the subtlety of Vee's character.

Hey LL, is there an archetype of artificer which gets the magnify gravity spell or is this a custom mod which you've negotiated with you DM.
