I love how the show doesn't give a lot of exposition on the different "tiers" of supes, it just shows us. We know Starlight is incredibly strong, she can lift up a car and punch holes in concrete walls etc, but in this episode we see that she's no match for Black Noir in a straight up fight, he just overpowers her and wrecks her. But then we also see how Maeve basically manhandles Black Noir and literally puts him in a choke hold he has no chance to get out of, even with Maeve just using one arm vs his two, and while force feeding him. o.O

"sneaking college girls in...or applying" photos of Lamplighter with underage girls is what Mallory had on him

The scene with Butch and his dad is so good.

"Toxic Personality" is more Scientology allegory.

The thing that stands out for me here is the parallels regarding fathers/sons relationships. Vogelbaum was a sort of pseudo-father for Homelander, the only father figure he really had growing up - and Vogelbaum parallels strongly with Butcher's father, in the way he attempted to make his "son" stronger through violence and abuse. When he says he "went to work on" Homelander, well... I think it's pretty clear what's implied there.
(You should totally watch The Boys Presents: Diabolical at some point, I think preferably before watching season 3. At least one episode of that is canon and gives some necessary back story for Homelander.)
Surprisingly, Homelander is the best of the three "fathers" presented here, even though he is still... pretty bad. He actually comes back and says "I was pushing you too hard, and I'm going to stop doing that" and decides to NOT try to force Ryan to use his powers or you know... push him off the roof again. :P
At any rate, there's some very interesting parallels here, and a lot more evidence for why Butcher and Homelander in many ways are flip sides of the same coin.

I never understood the logic in the guy's mind for shooting the clerk. If the clerk was a supe and 'bullet proof' then what would shooting him even do?

Great episode, this show is so Wild. Anyway Like others have said you definitely have to watch gen v once you finish s3, it’s the spin-off and it’s pretty relevant to the main show and seems like it’s gonna lead directly into s4 of the boys, it’s kinda like s3.5

I was going to ask in a comment if they knew about or had thoughts on watching Gen V. It's fantastic so I really hope they do!

I hope it's not important for Season 4. I've no interest in watching Gen V, I care about the characters in The Boys

@Eric & Sarah - A Great Episode. Like almost every 'The Boys' episode, could be a season finale. Great to see your reactions.
